Can't install Microsoft Office 2011 due to isync

I cannot install office 2011 because there appear to be no way to quit the application isync. I tried all the usual methods but a pop up window continues to tell me that I must quit isync in order to complete the installation. The same thing happens when attempting to update other software applications. I need some suggestions. I have already turned off the sync in Mobile me and quit the app according to the directions.

iSync has nothing to do with applications installation process.
What is the exact error message you are getting?
Have you tried restarting your computer before installing?

  • Can't install microsoft office 2011 14.1.3 update

So I'm doing the automatic software update and it tells me there is an update for Office 2011. version 14.1.3. the installation fails every time I try. "the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Did you do this from Software Update or Microsoft AutoUpdate? Do it through AutoUpdate if you didn't already, but other than that, this would be an issue to be handled with Microsoft.

Contact Microsoft support and ask for help.  You've paid for the kit, so installation-time support is part of the expectations.  They'll probably suggest a Repair Permissions and a Verify Disk pass, both performed by booting the installation DVD and using Disk Utility from the Utilities menu item, and selecting those two repairs.

You are showing 10.6.7. You should be able to run any Office PPC/Mac Compatible version (e.g. Office 2004) with Rosetta in Snow Leopard.
As noted, you can't run a Windows version except on a Windows partition.

  • I have Microsoft Office 2011 Student Edition installed on MacBook Pro; Can I install Microsoft Office Windows 2008 onto Mac without deleting Microsoft Office 2011?

I have previously installed Microsoft Office Student Edition 2011 on my MacBook Pro.  While installing Microsoft Office 2008 Windows; message prompts to delete Microsoft Office 2011.  Is there a way around this issue?

Office 2008 was a Mac version. The equvalent Win version is 2007. So there is no "Office 2008 Windows." Which version are your trying to install?
Are you using Boot Camp to run Win on your MBP and want to install Office for Win there? I can't see that being a problem..
I do know that the regular version of Office Mac won't run properly if the trial version is present. The installer is set up to look for other versions, resumably to keep the trial version and the regualr from clashing.
Office Mac 2011 is equiv to Office for Win 2010

  • I can't install MS Office 2011 on mountain lion

Hi, I just installed Mountain Lion, I made a clean install of it so I needed to reinstall all of my programs including Microsoft Office 2011 for mac. The problem is that I bought only a key for the program. The process for installing was originally downloading the trial version of it and after putting the key in it that converts the trial version into a full program. The problem is that when I'm trying to open the installer (yes, I tried to re-download it several times) I'm havin a window saying "Can't open the disc image" and the reason is that the "research is impossible" (when it's on my external hard drive). I searched on several other topics saying that the problem was due to a previous install... but I made a clean install... Otherwise I tried changing the security settings to every programs (not only from apple and app store) and I also tried the Ctrl+Open but it's not working at all and I keep having the same window.
    Thanks for your further help
Sorry for the English i'm actually french speaking.

  • Can't open Microsoft Office 2011 even after unistalling then reinstalling. Error message comes up before launch. What do I do? Can I fix this? I need to activate Microsoft Office within 15 days!!

I recently got a new MacBook Pro Running on OSX Mavericks and used Time Machine to move my documents and applications. However Microsoft Office Student/ Home applications did not work and requested a product key. I did not have the product key for it as I had installed Microsoft a long time ago, so I purchased a new Mincrosoft Office 2011 Student/Home Pin to install Microsoft Office. Everything installed fine, however when I go to open it it failed to open.
I need to activate my Microsoft Office within 15 days apparently and this is done when the application is launched. However none of the Microsoft Office applications do Launch (not Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook).
Whenever I tried to open one of the named above the Microsoft Error Reporting App would pop up and list the errors. I was advised on other support pages to disenable this app so I have done that but now Word is now giving its own error message saying:
    Process:

I don't know or understand what is stopping me from launching my Misrosoft Office. I am wondering if others have encountered similar problems with OSX Mavericks and the Microsoft Office 2011? Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get it to launch?
I need to get hold of my Word and Powerpoint Documents ASAP.

This indicates you had a bad install. You need to completely remove Office and reinstall using your new CD Key. See instructions here. Do not do the simple remove, Use the COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL FILES steps.

so I purchased a new Mincrosoft Office 2011 Student/Home Pin to install Microsoft Office.
You don't purchase a PIN. A PIN is generated when you install Office. You need a CD Key. If you bought Office365, you activate online.
I have issues with the Microsoft User Data - are there supposed to be two? and where exactly do they belon. They are in the Documents file at the moment.
Unless you used Outlook or Entourage you can delete both Microsoft User Data folders. When you install Office it will create a new one. Only Outlook & Entourage used this folder for data. W,E,P stores it's data in the User's Library/Application Support/Microsoft folder now.

  • Error 1704 - Can't install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

    Hi,
I am attempting to install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on my windows 8.
I ran the setup like normal and it went 100% but froze and nothing else happened.
I then looked into a few threads and saw that I should run it in compatibility mode. When I did this I got an error message, which stated, "Error 1704. An installation for Microsoft Office Office 64-bit components 2007 is currently suspended. You must
undo these changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?"
Seems simple, but when I click yes, the error message immediately comes back up (which just continues no matter how many times I press yes. So I press no and it ends....
I don't know much about computers but I need to get my resume in to a job ASAP!
    PLEASE HELP!

  • How can i install microsoft office on my Mac mini from a CD-rom ?

I recently bought a Mac mini and a microsoft Office on a CD-Rom.
But i can't find anywhere i can insert the Cd-Rom in order to install the software... How can i do please ?

Much easier than the above (from Ms website):
Option 1: Convert your Office for Mac 2011 trial. To convert a trial version, you must have a valid product key. The product key will convert your trial into a fully licensed version of Office for Mac.
Locate the 25-character product key in your product package or confirmation email.
Open any Office for Mac application, like Word, PowerPoint, or Excel.
On the first screen of the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant, click Enter your Product Key.
Enter your product key and complete the installation instructions.
Option 2: If you have not previously installed the trial version, you can download Office for Mac from the Office for Mac website. To download, install, and activate the software you must have a valid Office 2011 product key.
Locate your 25-character product key found in your product package or confirmation email.
    Go to www.officeformac.com/download
Click Get Started to start the download process.
When prompted, enter your 25-character product key and select your product language.
When prompted, sign in with your Windows Live ID or sign up and create a new Windows Live ID account.
After you enter your Windows Live ID, you will see a link to download the software. (You will also receive a confirmation email with a link to your My Account page if you prefer to wait and download your software at a later time.)
Click Download Now to start the download.
Save the file to your desktop. Do not change the file name.
When the download is complete, double-click the .dmg file icon on your desktop. This opens the Installer application in Mac OS X.
Follow the instructions in the installer screens to complete your installation.

  • How can i share microsoft office 2011 with my mac pro users

I recently purchased a mac pro and downloaded microsoft office but want to know how to share with other users on my mac.

It sounds like you installOffice in the Library folder in your account which limits the use of Office to your account.
If you would have installed it in the Library at root then everyone on the Mac can use it.
Not be a user of Office, I think you will have to uninstall it and then reinstall it correctly in the Library folder at root.

  • Can't install Microsoft Office X

I have a problem that I am stumped by. Our iBook G4 will not correctly install or run Microsoft Office X. Yes, I have a legitimate disk and it works fine on our other iMacs (G3 and new Intel iMac). This is what occurs:
    1) Install software. Successful.
    2) Try to open any of the four programs and it shows the appropriate screen, computer whirs for a moment and then I get an "unexpectedly quit" message.
    3) When the icon is in the dock there is a question mark superimposed over it.
    4) I have run Disk Warrior and used Disk Utility and hard drive and disk both come out reported as clean.
Any ideas on what is going on or what I should try? T
    Thanks in Advance!

Thanks a bunch Doug! I was not aware that they had an update (I try to ignore Microsoft and their products as much as possible) and it didn't enter my mind to check for one. For whatever reason, that solved the problem on the iBook. I have also updated the other two iMac's although I wasn't having a problem with them.
    Thanks again!

Getting a torrent is one of the only ways to get a trojan horse onto your Mac OS X, short of opening an attachment from someone you don't know.   Not many in the wild, but getting any software copyrighted by torrent is not only illegal, but also risky at getting not only trojan horses, but beta software labelled as final release software that is totally unstable.   Go to the Mac App Store, MacUpdates (do not download MacKeeper which is advertised there), or C!Net for Mac (do not download their software manager) software.
If you have also downloaded MacKeeper, read this tip to remove it:
