Can't install Motion on 10.4.6

I succesfully installed motion on previous OS 10.3.9 but then after upgraded to 10.4.6 it won't recognize the serial number. Does it need to use motion 2 which is in Final Cut Studio? Sound strange that it won't recognize the serial number which is previously was succeed. Please help me if anybody knows what is cause the problem. Thank you

OK,
Two options:
1. It is a one time corrupting cache issue. For that, create folders:
SystemLibraryCache
LibraryCache
on your desktop and move the corresponding files from:
Hard drive -> System -> Library -> Cache
Hard drive -> Library -> Cache
to those folders respectively.
You may need to take down the Ownership & Permissions with File menu -> Get Info on those folders and change the existing permissions to one you can remove the contents of those folders once copied to the folders on your desktop. Then restart the computer twice and see if the installation issues persist. If they don't it is a persistently corrupting cache issue.
2. It is a persistently corrupting cache issue. Backup your data twice using a cloning software, then erase and install the original (with all peripherals detached, creating a different user as your default user), repair permissions, apply the 10.4.6 combo update, repair permissions and restore with Migration assistant. Here's more info on cloning. Now sometimes the Migration assistant won't copy the bad cache files, but if it does, you may be forced to piecemeal restore your user data after attempting another erase and install. Most of the user data recovery is covered here, if you have a specific application not covered by this link, please ask.

  • Can't install Color or Motion

Just installed Final Cut Studio but can't get Motion or Color on. I've used all the discs and no joy. I don't have a disc with Color on it which worries me. Tried to install from the Motion disc separately and it said successful install but couldn't find it on the system.
    Please help...

Both the Color and Motion apps are installed from the 1st disk, ( Color may have installed; look in your applications folder for it) in fact all of the actual applications are installed from that 1st disk... the motion disk just installs the templates...
What is the spec of your graphics? If they don't meet the minimum as posted in the specs of Studio, Motion won't install, because it relies heavily on your graphics processor.
The spec for Motion is: A standard or built-to-order system configuration with a ATI Radeon 9600, 9700, 9800, X800, X1600, X1900, or X2600 class graphic card.
But that all said, didn't you check on all of the installs from that first disk? You can select them to install or not...if you don't see color or motion, then try installing them again from that first disk.

  • How many Sapphire Sapphire RADEON R9 270X can i install in my mac pro 2009?

How many of the graphics cards can I install in my mac pro 2009? Sapphire Sapphire RADEON R9 270X
    Thanks

Why? do you use FCP-X? that will benefit from two. Also gaming in Windows where you can use Crossfire
You have two 6-pin power feeds so you will need a small 450W PSU - those come with two 8-pin and two 6-pin.
Those can often fit in the optical drive bay and cost $25-75 range.
"500W" is NOT for the card! that is the minimum PC PSU only!
when buying look for card that uses only two 6-pin and not an 8-pin power.
75W for the PCIe slot, and 150W from two 6-pin cables, most GPUs fall into the 200-250W at maximum stress levels8-pin is basically two 6-pins and 150W feed
    > we CrossFired a pair of Radeon R9 270s in our 2010 Mac Pro tower. Under Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, it registered 145 FPS in the Diablo test.
    http://barefeats.com/tube06.html
Keep in mind that the Mac Pro tower can't feed enough power to the dual 980s, dual 290Xs, or dual 7950s.
We used an auxillary power supply to compensate.
For the hard core GPU rendering, there are external expansion boxes with their own power supplies.
In an earlier article, we featured the Cubix Xpander which facilitated the connection of 5 GPUs to the Mac Pro tower.
If you favor an AMD GPU like the Radeon R9 290X, MacVidCards can modify it to run at PCIe 2.0 bandwidth in your Mac Pro tower.
The Sapphire Radeon R9 7950 Mac Edition is available from OWC and TransIntl.

    Things to keep in mind:
The Radeon R9 280X we used was 'un-flashed.' It booted OS X fine but there was no startup screen. Also, when we checked the speed of CPU-to-PCIe-to-CPU communication, it appeared to be running in PCIe 1.0 mode instead of PCIe 2.0. However, unless the GPU intensive app saturates the PCIe 1.0 bandwidth, it will not run any faster in PCIe 2.0 mode. http://barefeats.com/tube12.html
Which is one reason why you might want to buy pre-modified cards from http://www.macvidcards.com

  • I Can't Install Plugins?

    Hi,
I can't seem to install plugins. I know that you have to go to: Movies>Motion Templates>Effects. But the problem is that there isn't anything in my Motion Templates folder. Please help me as I kinda need the plugins to be installed.
    Thanks, Meg.

You haven't installed Motion (you don't need to) or installed templates before... It's not a big issue.
Whatever you lack, you can create. Inside the Motion Templates folder, create the folders: Effects, Generators, Titles, Transitions (make sure they're spelled correctly and case sensitive.)
For Templates to work, they must be installed inside "Categories" which are just another "layer" of folder. You can invent these as well. Try to name your categories something that will help you find the template you're installing. (Categories go inside the main effects folders listed above.)
After you create a category, move the entire effect folder into the category.  These template folders contain a Motion file (.moef, .motn, .moti or .motr), two .pngs ("large.png and small.png) and optional .mov file and a Media folder. If any of the required files are missing, the template is likely not to work.
After you place the template in its destination folder, go into FCPX and try it out. If you cannot find it, there's one more step:
The Motion Templates folder and the Effects, Generators, Titles and Transitions folders require a .localized extention. You ADD the extension from each folder's Get Info dialog in the Name & Extension textbox:
Go back into FCPX and find the template...
The reason I laid the extension addition out as a separate step is that some people report that they do not have this issue. (I'm fairly sure, since 10.0.6, that the extensions are required though.) No other level of folder requires to be .localized.

  • Problems installing MOTION 3

I've got a Mac book Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
Memory 4GB, 667 MHz, DDRS SDAM
    Running 10.4.10
The machine has been imaged with FCP Studio 2 and other applications for
specific work related functionality. When the image was created (and I didn't create it), they delibertly left peices of MOTION off of the image, rationalizing MOTION wasn't one of the core needs for the machine and the extra hard drive space could be better used for other functionality.
However, I have official FCP 2 Studio discs with MOTION 3, and when I try to
install MOTION from the discs, it won't give me the UPGRADE button, bold so that I can hit it.
I reach the Custom Intall on "Hard Drive" dialogue, see it needs 6.3 GBs of room to install (which I have), Final Cut Pro, Color, and all the other FCP2 apps are whited out and checked (I guess because they're already installed),
and MOTION is the only app that is not whited out. It's checked, but only the GO BACK button is bold. The UPGRADE button is white out and I can't proceed further.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Should I delete the motion 4 library before installing motion 5?

I just got a new Mac Pro with Yosemite on it, and I just installed FCP 7 last night, and when I tried to launch Motion, I discovered that Motion 4 won't run on Yosemite.  I'm a little puzzled about why the installer still let me install it -- I thought the installer is supposed to check to see if the software is compatible with my system? -- but no matter.  I see that the new version of Motion is fairly inexpensive, so I'll just go with that.  My question is, can Motion 5 use any of the Motion 4 content that the FCP 7 installer put on my system?  It does take up a huge amount of space on my SSD, and if it's not usable, I'd just as well delete it before installing Motion 5.  Thanks.

Most of the Library content is the same. If you plan to convert/upgrade older templates from earlier versions of Motion (and I believe Motion 5 will at least open Motion 2 projects correctly) you should keep your old Library content around, even if it's redundant.
There are a few filters that aren't around anymore in Motion 5. In order to get them into M5, you'll need to open a project that was created in Motion 4 that used the filters, then drag the filter (from the layers list) into the Library > Favorites section (if they still work in Motion 5). [Two specific filters that come to mine are Primatte RT (if you don't want to have to convert Keyed content) and the Displace filter (which has been replaced by Bump Map.) There may be a few others, and for awhile Droste was one, but that has since ceased to operate in newer versions of Motion 5.]
If you had 3rd party content like freebie generators from idustrial revolution (World and Coverflux still work in M5 that you manually installed, you'll want to copy those over as well (most of them still work in M5.)
After you've finished updating older projects and moving items specific to Motion 4 over into Motion 5 (via Favorites), then you can delete the old Library content.

  • Can't install Encore 2.0 on new Vista machine

Called support on the 800 number today. Waited for 20 minutes only to discover that they can't help me over the phone with the 2.0 version of Encore. They can only support that here on the forum. OK then, here's my issue. This software was purchased by me for my job at a university. It is the educational version of Encore 2.0. My previous computer used for multimedia production was running XP SP2 and everything worked fine with the program. But, the software simply won't install on my new computer which runs Vista with SP1. I did deactivate the software on the old XP machine first, according to the instructions and was told I could now reactivate on a new computer. After going through the install motions at the very end of the process the software said "rolling back" installation and "could not be completed." All very frustrating. I had purchased the upgrade to 2.0 less than 18 months ago. But no tech support by phone. I will now assume that if I were to buy a CS 4 component tomorrow there will not be technical support via phone for the product after 2009. If someone can assist me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Hmm... guess it depends on the individual computer, or exactly what Encore and/or Premiere are doing at the time... 'cause I know I've read messages from people who have tried task switching, and whatever they were doing promptly stopped
I didn't pay much attention (can't even remember if it was Encore or Premiere, but think Premiere) but it seems to me that if the program was DOING something, like rendering, the operation failed when focus shifted to another program
Oh well... I've always just started Encore or Premiere and walked away for awhile unti it was done
So... I guess the best thing to do for anyone who wants to know... start something going in Encore or Premiere and then Alt-Tab to another program, and see what happens

  • Can't install operating system (OS)

i have downloaded the os of blackberry but i haven't downloaded/install blackberry desktop, why i can't install the OS?
cause i haven't installed blackberry desktop or ......?
    after run the OS,
"the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. check computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
    help me please!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To be truly complete and proper, I recommend you install both the Desktop Software as well as the specific OS package you desire. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    But...

From your words, I'm not quite sure how you are getting to that error...but, please check the compatibility guidelines:

  • Cannot re-install Motion 2.1.2

    Hello out there.
I seem to be having troube re-installing Motion 2.1.2.
I know it's an old version of Motion, however I cannot afford the new updates as of yet.
I had to remove my previous installation due to the fact that I could not complete such menu functions as: "Save As" and "Export" and as you know, if you cannot save or export out of Motion, the product is pretty much useless.
Anyway, when I go to install Motion from the DVD disc, it gets almost to the end of the process and then gives me an error that: "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    I've never experienced this before.
I gave the logs a look in Console and found the data posted below.
Can anyone make sense of this or help me out?! I'm in a time crunch on a project.
    Thanks!!

Reinstalls of Apple software rarely accomplish anything but your uninstall probably was not properly done and there are tons of orphan files all over your system. Search for UNINSTALL and you should end up with a link to Digital Rebellion's FCS Uninstaller utility. Buy it.
You may need an app like Pacifist that deconstructs Apple's installation package scripts and allows you to pick only the pieces you want to run. See versiontracker.com.
I had to remove my previous installation due to the fact that I could not complete such menu functions as:
"Save As" and "Export" and as you know, if you cannot save or export out of Motion, the product is pretty
    much useless.< </div>
Yes, we know and we fully sympathize. But we also know the software is rarely at fault. Such issues are often simple user errors, often quite easily fixed. The luxury now of helping you through that is out of our reach now.

  • Can I install just FCP from Final Cut Studio?

I currently run an old version of FCP on a 4-year-old dual 533 G4, so it doesn't have enough power to run Motion or DVD Studio 3. I plan to buy a new G5 in about 6 months, but in the meantime I want to run FCP 5 on my old machine. Can I install just the FCP upgrade from the FC Studio disk?

Yup - and fyi fcp 5 & DVD Sp 4 run fine on my old girl (same as yours).
Motion won't install as you know.

  • Switch to FCP X or continue w/ 7 or can I install BOTH?

Having given up on Apple releasing a new MacPro, I am about to buy a top of the line IMac (27", i7, best graphics card, 32 gigs ram) for home.   I have been teaching final cut pro 5,6,7 Final Cut Xpress HD as well as Premiere since 2002.
From what I am reading, many are using Final Cut Pro X now w/o "issues".  Here are my questions: (1) Should I finally get FCP X for use with 2.5k & 5K GoPro, Sony AVCHD2, and RAW? Is it finally a PRO app? ( I also wish to be able to work with audio in other apps.)  (2) Can I install BOTH FCP X & FCP 7 on the same partition? (3) Should I just bite the bullet and buy Avid? (which I am comfortable with)   The BIG issue that I am head shy about is cross platform worflows with sound & after effects/smoke that are often over one hour in length with multiple timelines, multiple cameras/effects & motion graphics.
If Tom Wolsky is still around, I have enjoyed using your texts teaching at University and Art College... I have always found your answers to be concise and intelligible, however, obviously, I respectfully ask for anyone's help with this decision.

    1. FCP X has always been a pro-app and is the future here and now. To see whether it is suitable for your requirements download the free 30 day trial
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/trial/
    2. Yes you can have FCP 7, FCP X and FCE 4 all on the same partition but only one can be open at once, of course.
    3. Only you can answer that, after testing FCP X.
Tom Wolsky is alive and kicking and you will find him leading the Final Cut Pro X forum next door.

  • Install Motion & FCP on separate machines

Is it possible to install Motion 3 on one computer and FCP 6 on another if they both came from the same FCP 6 Suite? Probably not.
I ask this question because I'm trying to learn Motion but during the day I do not have access to the computer where my FCP 6 is installed instead, I have access to another Mac where I could work on it.
    One more question:
Is Motion 4, that comes with FCP 7 backwards compatible with the Motion 3. In other words can I open a project created in Motion 4 in version 3? Probably not.
    Thanks.

Read the terms of use, look for the part where it tells you how may copies of the software you can install. Generally, you can have two copies as long as they're not running simultaneously. Do not try to do partial installations on your separate machines. Put the whole suite on each.

    Correct. Not.
