Can't install my adobe digital edition!

At first, i installed my digital edition. i could only access my ebook(book that i purchased ) when i went online. Something was wrong. so i decided to uninstall it and then reinstall it again. During the setup, i kept facing this problem.
'You may not have the necessary permission to use all the features of the program you are about to run.You may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user.'
Then i have to give the username and password. i used my account id and password but was denied access all the time. i kept getting this note: 'This installer requires administration access, pls try again.'
What should i do? i'm really frustrated. Could you provide me with the username and password so that i can access my account? i don't think i can call up the support center as overseas call is expensive. is there any other way i can use my account?

The computer is telling you that you don't have the ADMIN rights that are
needed to install the software.  I'm going to guess that you're using
Windows 7 software.  In that case, your user rights may be set by Win7 as a
'user', not as 'administrator'.  You need to go back and log into the
computer as the ADMIN.
About that access to your ebook only when you were online.  That can occur
when ADE has not been installed properly (see above).
The sequence of installation makes all the difference.  The first step is to
go to the Adobe website and establish an Adobe account with an Adobe ID and
password that you choose.  When you've done that, you can install ADE on
your computer ( assuming we get around this administrative access issue ).
When that is complete, you can go to the website where you bought your ebook
and download it to ADE on your computer.  Then you can read it from the ADE
library.
There are some technical considerations.  If you have installed ADE on your
computer without having established an Adobe ID (which you can do - but
shouldn't), then you might not be able to reinstall it and still be able to
access the ebook you bought.  This is because the publisher and distributor
could have set the ebook's digital rights to permit ONE download only.
Also, when you download the ebook - or when you did - you have choices as to
whether to OPEN or SAVE it.  If you elect 'OPEN', then ADE will open the
ebook in Reading mode.  It will not save the ebook in the library, so when
you open ADE in Library mode, the ebook won't be visible - although it's
still on your computer.  If you can find the title in the folder inside
Digital Editions, then you can add the ebook to the library, using the Add
Book to Library function within ADE.
Much of what I'm saying here is pretty general, and there are certain tasks
that you perform to accomplish these steps.  I don't know your level of
expertise with the computer, so I don't want to burden you with all of the
tasks at this time.  Repost with more information, and we can go to that
level if we need to.
Hope this helps!

  • Can i leave the adobe digital edition ID, authorized on my PC?

Can i leave the adobe digital edition ID, authorized on my PC? Will it do someting to the PC if i leave it in authorized mode? Or must i erase it?

    Hi,
In order to fix the problem you may follow steps as given below.
Solution 1) 1) Open Digital Editions.
                        2) Connect the Reader
                        5) There you will find a new drive created similar to C or D drive under "My computer".
                        6) Open the Readers Drive and you will find a folder with name "adobe.digital.editions".
                        7) Delete this folder and plug off and re plug in the Reader.
                        8) Authorize Reader from the same Adobe ID which you used to Authorize Adobe Digital Editions.
..                  9) Now try to transfer books to your Reader
Solution 2) Modify the manifest.xml file located in C:\Usres\Username\My Documents\My Digital Editions:
    1) Quit Digital Editions
    2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like manifest.good)
    3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
    4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for a tag called  start at the begginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called </de:deviceID>
    5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of these.  Delete all of them to make sure.
    6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
    7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in
    8) Launch Digital Editions
    9) The Device Setup Assitant should come up.
      a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" checkbox.
      b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.
I hope this will help you.
    Regards
    Rizwan

    from Marcia.
I have a kobo touch ereader.  Try to install adobe digital editions.  i only access to a library computer window 7.  Try to download ADE 3. 0. Installater.exe.   No administrative password.
Can you help me.  My kobo touch software is 1.9.17. (r37581 3/16/12)  model no. N905B27210158.

Since the new library gives you the same message log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can run iPhoto without getting that message.  If you get that message there also a reinstall of iPhoto seems indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all available updates to it.

  • I can't get my Adobe Digital Edition to open after almost a year with no problems

I have used Adobe Digital Edition to download books from my library to transfer to my Nook. I started last December and never had a problem. Today I tried to download a book and ADE never opened. I tried to open ADE separately and can't get it to open. I rebooted, no help.  I have a HP Windows 7 machine.  Any ideas? Do I need to re-download ADE? Should I uninstall my current version first? Thanks for any help you can give me.  I am a bit shy to do this, as I have seen foruns talking about user activation issues, and hope to avoid that possibility.

Well, I seem to be running into problems at every step.
I made a copy of the Digital editions folder ("My Digital Editions)- under my documents- (with annotations and thumbnails inside) and also made a copy of Manifest.xlm and renamed the folder and the Manifest file.  That folder that had all those items did not have the uninstall .exe in it. It did have a setup.exe file in it. However the uninstall program was in a folder  titled Adobe Digital Editions, which was under Program Files (x86).  In addition to the uninstall file, there is a file named digitaleditions.exe
After making copies and renaming as you suggested above, I did the uninstall. it ran very quickly and said it was completed. However, nothing was removed from any of my digital edition folders.  The file digitaleditions.exe is still in the folder under Programs (x86), although the uninstall .exe file is gone. I also went to the control panel and did an uninstall of digital editions from there-it was still showing up after I ran the uninstall program. the program now no longer shows up on my list of programs(from the start button, all programs selection), although again the digitaleditions.exe prorgam still shows in the folder.
I went to adobe to download the program again. When I try to launch the program I get a window asking for my administrator password.  I know it, put it in, but I get an error message about bad password. I know the password is correct because it is the same one I log in with every start up. I only have one password. I then went to the "having trouble downloading" page on the adobe site and followed those instructions.(http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403051.html) and followed their uninstall previous versions directions.  The adobe digitaleditions program was not there to uninstall as I had done this earlier. I clicked on the link to manually install, hitting the "run" buttons as instructed.  It seems to download but then nothing happens. I can't seem to get a download from adobe.  I still have all my files in the "my digital editions folder- annotations, thumbnails etc. The set.exe is still there. I also have these copied and renamed in a different directory. And in my Adobe Digital Editions folder, the digitaleditions.exe file is still there. Nothing ever got put in the trash folder. (Note that I tried to download a book from the library and it couldn't fiind ADE.) I tried to download ADE from their webpage and same thing- nothing happens.  Do I need to pay Adobe to let me get this file redownloaded and installed?  There seems to be something stuck.  If you have any more advice I sure would appreciate it.
    thanks
    Ron

  • Network install of Adobe Digital Editions

I work for the public school system.  We are being requested to deploy Adobe Digital Editions for reading digitial books.  Last time I looked at ADE, about 2 versions ago, it was not possible to deploy this over the network easily.
Now I am being re tasked with this.  Is it possible to deploy this software over the network, with a silent install?  It must be hands free.  I have up to 30,000 computers and i'm sure half of them will need it at minimum.  I see nothing related to ADE 4.0 and deploying it so please help me out and let me know what the deal is.
    thanks,

    Hi Cherin,
Printing a phone book (or an 'Address Book" as ontacts Help refers to it) is done directly from Contacts, and does not involve Pages. Details are available in Contacts' Help files. Try searching 'print phone book' (without the quotes).

  • Inability to activate installed Adobe Digital Editions software

I am able to download and successfully install the Adobe Digital Editions software on my HP Pavillion desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium but I cannot activate the program after installation.
Before the first time the program is launched, to gain access, you must enter your Adobe ID and Password but I am never asked for this information at the end of the installation process.
I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed the program several times but the end result is always the same.  When I open the program all I get is a black, inoperative screen.
Thank you for any suggestions as to why this is happening.

I'm not sure what process you've followed to install ADE.  I'm guessing, so
let me go over the process from the start.  No offense - I don't have
enough information about what you've done to be specific.
First, you should be going to the Adobe website and registering as a user.
When you do that, your ADE download will contain your Adobe User ID and
your Adobe password.  At that point, ADE is 'ready for action'.  I would
uninstall ADE, empty the Recycle Bin, then register with Adobe and try the
    download again.
Next, Win 7 seems to have some kinks in it that have caused some ADE users
to swear, curse and generally get nasty at the software.  Security settings
have to be set to allow ADE to interact with ebook websites.  But there are
some hidden settings that you don't see that have caused problems.  Also,
some users have mentioned that you may need to use 'compatibiltiy mode' for
    the software.
    Hope this helps!
