Can't install new itunes and mobile device support keeps crashing

a while ago, i tried getting new quicktime, but my computer crashed in the middle of the updating (also a problem- anyone know why it keeps lagging, freezing, and crashing on me?). i ignored it, and plugged in my ipod a few days later. itunes wouldn't pop up, and when i clicked the icon, i got a popup saying "itunes not found, please reinstall" or something along those lines.
i tried reinstalling it, but it gets stuck at "copying new files". i also tried getting the new quicktime, but it get stuck about 2/3s through it. also, after leaving my computer on for a night to see if it would install, i started getting a popup from microsoft windows saying that "MobileDeviceService has stopped working". if i try to check online for a solution, the popup dissapears after a while, but pops up again in a few seconds. same with if i just close the popup. this popup has also started to appear the second i log on to my computer.
i also tried uninstalling mobile device support (using this), but when it's preparing for installation, my computer freezes and stops working.
tldr: updated to quicktime, but crashed in the middle. now i can't get new itunes or quicktime, and i get popups about apple mobile device support that won't go away. any suggestions?
and my computer started to lag and freeze a lot about a month ago.. i'm not sure why. but it's been very annoying since i have to keep hitting the power button cause the freezing doesn't allow me to do anything. i ran 3 virus scans, and only 1 managed to finish without crashing, and it's telling me that nothing's wrong. i've also uninstalled and deleted a lot of things, but that hasn't helped either.
i have vista, and would really appreciate some help.

anyone?
*i've managed to download quicktime, but am still unable to download itunes. after reaching a certain point in downloading itunes, (about 1/3 of the way?) it stops at "copying files", and my computer freezes and i have to hold the power button in order to shut it off and do anything, or i get a popup asking me if i want to change something so itunes can finish downloading. i click "yes", but then the download stops completely and i get a message saying "itunes has finished downloading, but with errors" and it tells me to download it again.
a popup from MobileServiceDevice keeps appearing as well, but it won't go away. the details are:

but the fault module name changes on me. sometimes it's kernel32.dll, and sometimes it's something else, and i've already tried using task manager /find str but it doesn't help.

  • Hello all, i am in need of the newer version of Mobile Device Support as when updating the file was not installed, would anyone tell me where i could find a new version? thankyou

Hello all, i recently updated my itunes but when i did this the Mobile Device Support file did not install, would anyone be able to help me find a download? thanks

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • After syncing with iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support uses 83-99% of CPU

After syncing with iTunes 10.4.0.80, everything becomes very slow on my XP Home PC with 2G RAM.  Apple Mobile Device is reported as using 83-99% of the CPU cycles.  Shutting down and restarting Apple Mobile Device solves the problem and reduces CPU cycles to 0%.  (I have written a small batch program to stop and restart the Apple Mobile Device to achieve this.)  Does anyone have any thoughts about why the Apple Mobile Device process won't release when the sync is finished?

i deleted itunes and mobile support and now when i reinstall itunes the mobile support does not come back with it as when it tries to install that it just says rolling back after it is almost done
The AMDS install roll-back (on XP) can be caused by old driver componentry "stuck" in the bowels of your OS. If that's what is going on, we can get past this ... but I'm afraid it's a bit of a performance.
First, go into "My Computer". Go "Tools > Folder Options". Go to the view tab.
Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
Make sure "Hide extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked.
Make sure "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in "My Computer", open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive your Operating System is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
    Open the "DRVSTORE" folder.
In there look to see if you have either of the following two folders:
    netaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
    usbaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
If you find either of them, drag them out onto the desktop. (Don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
Now go back into the "system32" directory.
    Open the "Drivers" directory.
Look for either of the following two files:
    netaapl.sys
    usbaapl.sys
If you see either of them in there, drag them out onto the desktop. (Again, don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
Now restart the PC. Uninstall iTunes again, and then try reinstalling it again. Does Apple Mobile Device Support install this time?

  • Requires newer version of Mobile Device Support?

I just received an iPod touch and when trying to hook it up to my computer, I found that it is not recognized by iTunes. Whenever I plug in the iPod, I get a message reading "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
What is really upsetting is that I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes several times. I have made sure that all of my computer's specs meet the requirements and the AMDS is running according to Services. My driver, however, is not recognized in the Devices menu?
I am really upset with Apple at this point. The iPod touch seems to work fine with Macs, but are a pain in the neck for PCs. I'm starting to think I should just return this stupid thing!!

  • TS3704 Trying to delete I Tunes because of missing MSVCR80.dll followed instructions from Apple to delete - Apple Mobile Device support keeps coming up its being used I have gone to program files deleted what I can from folder but left with 3 files

I have been getting the MSVCR80.dll missing message.
Been on the Apple site and following instruction.
Going down the list has instructed I have Deleted I Tunes.
    Deleted Apple Software Update
But when I try to delete Apple Mobile device it wouldn't delete so went into program files has the instructions say by going to Program Files\common Files\Apple\Apple Mobile Device Support Folder.
It still wouldn't delete saying it was being used.
I opened the file and highlighted all the folders and pressed delete, most of them have disapeared into my recycle bin but the folder still holds AppleMobileService, AppleMobileDeviceService_main.dll and MobileDevice.dll.
Message when I right click the first file is AppleMobileService I am told this action can't be completed because file is open in Apple Mobile Device. Close and Try again.
When I click the next file AppleMobileDeviceService_main dll it says  It comes up with This action cannot be completed and File description Apple Mobile Device Service. Company Apple Inc. File Version 17.323.0.9 Date Created 7/9/2013. Try again...... and finally  MobileDevice.dll come up with same message but file version 710.0.0.4 Date Created 7/9/2013 Size 902KB Both say Try Again but the same thing just recurred.
I have left my lap top on hoping that I a swift reply.
I am certainly no computer wizard and simply trying to follow the instructions to get rid of the box which keep coming up everytime I switch the lap top on saying APS Daemon.exe-System Error. The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  I had looked at the internet and there appears to be warnings not to click on the button.
I have had an apdate from Apple for the I Tunes but it wouldn't update. I thought that may have sorted it so whilst I had a few hours I thought I would go through the process that is advised on Apple's website.
I hope I have not ruined my computer. I haven't even tried deleting Bonjour or Apple Application Support (I Tunes 9 or later) has these are supposed to come after the step I am on.
    Please HELP!!!!!

  • Can't install new itunes upgrade on Windows 7.  Keep getting Apple Mobile Device Service timed out

Ever since the new upgrade of iTunes came out I can no longer open iTunes.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail.  I keep getting  the Apple Mobile Device Service warning that it timed out.  I go into Services and I can't start the mobile device there either.  I have followed every suggestion online and still can't get it to work.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • Installed new itunes and no longer have any music files

when I installed the new itunes version, everything went well - no error messages and itunes definetly looks different....
but now I have no music files in my itunes when I open itunes....is there a step I missed?

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Installed new itunes and i cant play my old songs

installed the new version of itunes and all my songs have an exclamation point next to them and to find where the are located on my computer and i have no idea how to find my songs.

Make sure you have cookies enabled.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

  • Warning!  Songs were removed from iTunes Library after installing new iTunes and iPad/iPod Sync

I purchased the iPad 2 yesterday, updated my itunes software, and itunes messages indicated that it would not allow certain songs to be included in my library any longer since these were not purchased from iTunes.  Many of the songs were from CDs that I stored on this library for several years.  Only after I upgraded iTunes with this new iPad was my music removed.  Luckily I still have my music on my iPod, but my iTunes library on my laptop contains only the music I have purchased from iTunes with the last 18 months.  Weirdly, except for one particular song that iTunes said was not purchased from them, but it was part of an entire album purchase from iTunes.  Also, all of the movies I purchased from iTunes were also removed. I am not able to sync any movies onto my iPad.
I restored the iPad a second time, reinstalled the itunes and have the same result.  All of my older archived music is gone from the iTunes library.
Warning, if you want your music, back it up before installing the latest iTunes particularly if you have the new iPad 2.

Hmm, it is only very recently (about 6 months ago I think) that the policy on Music changed. Prior to that you would be routinely reminded to back up all purchases (immediately after the successfully completed download), unless of course you ticked an option not to be reminded again. The change in policy (in our favour) would have been noted in the small print that neither you or I read when upgrading iTunes, though we say that we have.
Again I'm still not certain if audiobooks are excluded from both "Music" and "Books". One would hope that they belonged to one category or the other in respect of redownloading. In the past, in the event of an absolute disaster, fatal hard-drive crash, fire etc. some users have been able to prevail upon the charity of the iTunes store staff who would occasionaly grant a second, but never a third, download of past purchases.
The restictions on different types of media are ultimately imposed by the rights holders, not Apple. It is in Apple's interests to offer the same terms as their competitors, so my guess is that nobody currently offers unlimited repeat downloads of movies. Certainly the unique codes you get on some DVDs/Blu-Rays are one-time only.
Backup all (or at least the non-replaceable parts) of your library with this User Tip.
