Can't install open office; youtube videos are green screen (audio ok); using call HP Tech Support fails (no reason given)
1) Can't turn McAfee Livesafe off, and think it's what's keeping me from installing Open Office.  It downloads but can't install. 
2) At work on wireless guest,  youtube looks fine.  At home on ethernet through DISH satellite, it's green screen.  This is not he case with my older HP laptop connected to the same ethernet cable.
3) Why is HP tech support rejecting me, after I type everything in?  If I ca't use it, don't make it an option!!!!  The forums were choice #2, so here I am ... make me proud ...

McAfee products are problematic on some systems and suggest you uninstall it using their removal too then reboot:

Build in Windows Defender should reactivate after the reinstall.  As an antivirus product it is adequate as long as you practice safe surfing habits.
Windows key + X, select Command Prompt (Admin) and type:  sfc /scannow
Let me know if it does not fix all or any corrupt system files.
Reboot and now try your Youtube.
I do not have an answer to what transpired between you and HP Support but only to say you should come here first.

    Your post confuses me (don’t worry, I often find myself in that state). When I first started reading your message I thought you meant you had clicked on the OpenOffice installer in your browser and the jiggle you referred to was the animation Safari uses to indicate a download has begun. Then you asked how to delete files from the download folder so that seemed to indicate you knew that files are downloaded into the Download folder. So I’m not quite sure what you clicked on that jiggled.
    In short, when you click on a link in the browser to download a file it will be placed in the Downloads folder. Once the download is complete you open the Downloads folder and double-click on the file you downloaded. Mac programs can appear in the Downloads folder a couple different ways. Probably the most common today is the disk image (this file ends in .DMG which you can see if you have your computer configured to show extenders). Clicking on a disk images opens a virtual disk and a window will appear. From there you’ll either be instructed to drag the program icon to the Applications folder or to double click an installer to install the program. Some applications are delivered as compressed files (ending in ZIP) and double clicking on them will either reveal the application or a folder holding the application. Drag either to the Applications folder. In a few rare instances the applications installer will be directly downloaded. This usually shows up as a file ending in PKG. Double click it to start the installation.

    Assuming you do not have access to the "original" video/project and the YouTube video is the only copy, there is a method. Try "YouTube Downloader" which is a free software that allows you to download clips from YouTube as .mp4 files. You can then edit with Premiere, and re-encode again for upload to YouTube. Just keep in mind that you are re-compressing the video so there will be some quality loss. The better the quality of the original, the better the copy will hold up.

  • Everytime I open a youtube video (embbed or not) I get a black screen and my whole pc crashes. Only happens in firefox, no other browser.

    Newest version of firefox, and flash. Tried clearing cache. Been having this problem for a year or more.
    No mater what I do, if I open a youtube video in firefox, my pc crashes. Black screen and I have to hit the manual reset button. No error report to send, no idea why this happens. It does not do it when using chrome.
    Really irritating and going to cause me to give up on using firefox if I cannot find a solution soon.

    You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
    *disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
    *disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
    *disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

    Can you check the Windows event log to see if that gives any clues about the Windows crashes if you get a BSOD?

    Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preferences > Other/ Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button
         Install Adobe Flash Player.

        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security

        Press " Manage Website Settings" button for more options.
        Adobe Flash Player
        Currently open website:
        All other websites"
        Select "Allow" then "Done".
    3. Delete cookies.
         Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
         Press the “Remove All Website Data” button.  It may take a while.
    4. Turn off Extensions, if any.

    It's probably safer to assume it doesn't backup pdfs. You could store your pdfs (for safekeeping) in an app like Dropbox.

    I am using Firefox 3.6.13. When i open a youtube video in firefox it immediately shows that whole video is streamed (the progress bar shows red instead of grey). But the whole video is yet to be streamed. The information of how much is streamed becomes unavailable.
    Listing 2 of the problems encountered because of this
    1. Unable to estimate how much time I have to wait before the video is fully streamed
    2. Cannot go forward or backward in the video in the streamed part.
    (This problem does not occur in IE. I tried the link given below)

    I've got a brand new gift MacBook Air 11" and I want to install Microsoft Office 2008 since I have a valid key license that's given by my nephew. Do I have any other options here?  Can I download all the necessary files from somewhere officially and just enter the Product Key to install what I need?  Are there other possible options?

    But please note several cautions:
    1.  The product key is intended for one machine only.  You would have to be the sole user.
    2.  Office 2008 is now very close to being obsolete.  Office 2011 has been out for years, and Office 365 is available for your Mac as well.

    You are showing 10.6.7. You should be able to run any Office PPC/Mac Compatible version (e.g. Office 2004) with Rosetta in Snow Leopard.
    As noted, you can't run a Windows version except on a Windows partition.

    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
