iPhone running iOS 8.2. Can't install or update apps, buttons grayed out. Probably a Settings issue, because iPad working fine.

If the buttons are greyed out in the store then do you currently have an app age rating set on your phone in Settings > General > Restrictions (under the 'allowed content' heading) that is blocking them ?

  • Can't install or update apps through iTunes

Seems I can't install or update apps through iTunes. It keeps giving me error messages. I the only way I can get around this is updating through the App Store app on iPod touch. I think this problem started since updating to Lion.

What are the specific error messages?

  • Can't Install or update apps on iPod Touch 5g

Hi, i am having a very serious problem with my iPod. it is an iPod Touch 5th Generation, 32GB, blue. It is currently running iOS 8.2. The problem is, I can't install or update any apps. It just sits on the home screen grayed out and saying "Waiting...". It won't do anything else. I have already tried hard restarting it, along with signing out and back into the App Store. I have also tried deleting the apps and reinstalling, but it does the same thing.

  • How can I install the proper App Store app to complete my upgrade?

I have Snow Leopard (10.6.8) installed on my iMac 27 (late 2010) but the app store app is not supported on this version. How can I get the proper app store app for SLP? My goal is to get back to Maverick.
I was running Maverick just fine but ran out of disk space. I had Best Buy install a Seagate 3TB drive. I reinstalled OS X 10.6.4 from my Install Disk. Then I upgraded the "software upgrades" to get 10.6.8.  Somehow I upgraded the App Store app to a version that is not supported on my current version of 10.6.8.
I appear to be stuck. Unable to go to App Store to down load Maverick.
Also, with the new Seagate 3TB drive, the fan runs continuously. Any ideas how I can move forward?

Regarding your fan issue I believe I am correct in assuming BBY did not install the correct HD. My suggestion is to first do several SMC resets which are designed to help with running fans, carefully read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964. for information on what a SMC reset addresses. You can find instructions for doing the SMC resets in https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3603. A SMC reset will ONLY help if the correct HD was installed though.
If the reset does not fix the issue then return the machine to BBY, inquire if the drive they use has heat sensors integrated into the HD they installed and if not then get them to install the correct HD to address the issue.

  • Mac app store error message failed download.

When I try to download an app from the Mac App Store  I get an error message  "failed to download use the purchases page to try again".
How do I fix this problem on OS Mavericks 10.9.4?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Can't install or update apps on iphone 5 !!!

    Hello,
i cant install or update application with my itunes account on iphone 5
everytime i search for an app i try to install it ...nothing happens same while trying to update apps  ...
    any help ?

Check the settings for your AppleID and AppStore. Go to Settings/iTunes and AppStore/AppleID and sign out.
Restart the phone and sign in with your Apple ID. After that your AppleID will be matching the country to which it is registered to. You can't buy or download from foreign AppStores, that's what the error is about.

  • How can I install the apple app store on my computer

I bouth this computer from a friend, when I brought it home I notice I dont have the App store installed, any way I can do this?

You need to contact Apple, 1-800-MY-APPLE, and order OS X Snow Leopard 1.6 and install it upon your Mac. Then download and install the 10.6.8 update combo to have a Mac App Store.

  • 3.7.2 update App Store error (20) and manual download error.

I purchased 3.7 from App Store. App Store prompts to update to 3.7.2 but when I start the update I get errror "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)"
I've tried several times over the past week with the same result.
Today I manually downloaded the admin update. But when I try to run it I get error "The version of Remote Desktop installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store."
Grrr. How can I resolve this?
    Mavericks 10.9.2

I have the same problem, I can't update mine, error 20.
You can try uninstalling ARD and then installing all again, this process will install the whole ARD updated.
You need to be sure you have the serial number (I think there is a serial for this one if you are in a company environment)

  • Can't install and update apps

    Hi,
I am not able to update existing apps on my phone & I'm not able to install new apps as well. What happens is that when I choose the update button, it will load for a few seconds (that rotating cirle thing) and then it will go back to the update button again. Initially there was an error message stating mzfairplay.nullResponse_message but it stopped appearing after a few more tries and I'm still not able to update. Anyone familiar with this error message? I have also tried downloading new apps but with the same result.
I have tried the below actions to resolve this but I'm still not able to update or install new apps:
    1. Restart the phone
    2. Signed out my Apple ID
    3. Connected to iTunes
    4. Updated to iOS 8.3
As of now, I'm still having this issue and I'm getting a little frustrated. The last thing I want to do is to reset the phone to its factory settings.

You don't have to reset your iPhone! It's an internal problem of Apple. All we can do is wait for them to fix it. Alternatively, here's the system status webpage so you can check how it goes: https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

  • I have macbook air and I can't login to the App Store, it keeps failing so I can't download apps. What can I do?

    Hi,
whenever I try to login, after entering the correct password, the login window appears again and asking for the password again.
I also can't download / update none of the apps.
    please help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • I have moved to uk from ireland and bought new iphone, set up using my existing Apple ID account and profile but won't let me buy install or update apps??

I have moved to uk from ireland and bought new iphone, set up using my existing Apple ID account and profile but won't let me buy install or update apps??
Can anyone advise me on what I need to do?
My existing account is linked to ireland as my bank account details are there, does this make a difference?
    Please help!

Until you get a UK bank account and credit card, buy and redeem UK iTunes gift cards for use in the iTunes and Mac App Stores. But you need to switch your region/country to the UK store in your account information, as you can't use UK iTunes gift cards in the Irish stores, the gift cards are country specific.

All Apple iTunes Store accounts must have a valid form of payment set up. Even for free apps and updates. The Payment Declined message comes from your card issuer or payment source; Apple is just a pass-through for the message. You need to find out why your issuer is declining your card.

  • I can see my iPhone5 in iTunes but I'm unable to install or updates apps - icons are greyed out. I can remove them however. My ipad works perfectly.

I can see my iPhone5 in iTunes.  The only functions I can do on my apps is to Remove them.  I cannot install new apps or update existing one's - the buttonew are unavailable for seleciton.  This has only happened since I got a new laptop.  My iPad works perfectly still.

Have you tried installing and updating apps from the iPhone itself?
If you have restrictions enabled go to settings>general>restrictions and make sure "Installing Apps" is on.
