Can't Install or update apps on iPod Touch 5g

Hi, i am having a very serious problem with my iPod. it is an iPod Touch 5th Generation, 32GB, blue. It is currently running iOS 8.2. The problem is, I can't install or update any apps. It just sits on the home screen grayed out and saying "Waiting...". It won't do anything else. I have already tried hard restarting it, along with signing out and back into the App Store. I have also tried deleting the apps and reinstalling, but it does the same thing.

Seems I can't install or update apps through iTunes. It keeps giving me error messages. I the only way I can get around this is updating through the App Store app on iPod touch. I think this problem started since updating to Lion.

If your iPod Touch is too old for iOS 5 or later... there is not much you can do.
When/if you get a later model iDevice you will be able to Download Past Purchases using the Original ID that made those Purchases. (providing they are still supported by the Developer)

iPhone running iOS 8.2. Can't install or update apps, buttons grayed out. Probably a Settings issue, because iPad working fine.

If the buttons are greyed out in the store then do you currently have an app age rating set on your phone in Settings > General > Restrictions (under the 'allowed content' heading) that is blocking them ?

. As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

When I search for the Pandora app in the App Store it comes up and shows that it is free, but it does not allow me to click on the button to download it. The Free button is not highlighted. Installed latest update, and now ipod touch won't work

Hello, I clicked on the download and install option for the latest update to my ipod touch. I think it was 2.2.1, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, now I have to hold the power button down several seconds, and I see the apple logo, and then the itunes icon with the USB plug which indicates I need to connect to itunes. When I plug it in to the pc, I get prompted that I have installed new hardware and need to install the device drivers. It is not recognized by itunes or my pc. Please help!!

Hello, all, my ipod touch is now working. Here's what happened...I called the tech support line and started going through the automated stuff. It started me with the reset which I had done numerous time. It then mentioned trying a different USB port. I figured it was a waste of time, but then I decided what the heck, so I tried the other usb port on the front of my pc. When I did this, it recognized the ipod in ituned and gave me a mssg that it needed to be restored. I clicked on the restore link, and minutes later it gave me an error message on the restore, and the ipod showed the apple on the sreen instead of the itunes logo with the usb cord. I then tried it back in the original usb port, and received the same windows prompt to try to install drivers that I had been getting all along. I put it back in the second USB port, and got the restore message again with it being recognized in itunes. This time it successfully completed the restore. I know it sounds simple, but if you have not tried a different USB port, be sure you do. Maybe the download jacked up my USB port? Anyway, I'm working again with the 2.2.1 download. Check the settings for your AppleID and AppStore. Go to Settings/iTunes and AppStore/AppleID and sign out.
Restart the phone and sign in with your Apple ID. After that your AppleID will be matching the country to which it is registered to. You can't buy or download from foreign AppStores, that's what the error is about.

Hi. Okay let me explain my dilemma, and please try to hold on. Alright, so last year when i first got my ipod touch 4g, I jailbroke it with LimeRain from Limerain.com. 3 days ago, i decided to delete a facebook app on my ipod, and then decided to re-install it. While the app was re-installing, it froze. I turned off my ipod, and tried turning it back on, and it got stuck on the limerain skull. I left it for about 20min and nothing happened. I realized that somthing was wrong and I would have to restore it. I went to my computer, and tried to restore it back to factory settings. I first got a 1601 error. I then used IREB to try and fix it, but that didn't work, and I started to get a 1604 error. At the time i had itunes version 10. I was told i needed to update it, so i tried to. It wouldn't let me. It kept giving me this: "An error occured during the installation of assembly'Mircosoft.vc80.crt, type="win 32". Version="8.0.50727.6196", public key token....etc.........". i then uninstalled all of itunes off my computer and tried re-installing it. Now I can't even install itunes whatsoever because i keep getting the same error as before. PLEASE HELP ME! :'(!

Try this approach as it worked in my situation. Just a shot-
I found msicuu2.exe (Windows Installer Cleanup Utility) for free and used that tool to remove iTunes from my machine and then reinstalled iTunes. This fixed my problem. Microsoft use to have the tool on their site to download and no longer do (I can only assume since it was so easy to use that people removed things they shouldn't have and it became to big a pain for Microsoft to deal with). With that said, I was able to find the tool at another site. It was an easy fix after I installed the cleanup utility and I had iTunes reinstalled in minutes.
Was getting errors due to a previous windows installer package corrupted and not deleted. (last itunes update). Download from the internet and run this program selecting Itunes to be removed. (you won't lose your music content), then restart your computer. When you restart re-download Itunes 10.5.3 and reinstall. It will automatically reload a non corrupted installer package and will go find all your music, files, etc. to restore by itself. No problems what so ever resinstalling and getting all my stuff to add to my new Touch afterwards.
note: I spent hours researching this issue and it worked in my case. Hopefully it helps-

Can't see or synch apps with iPod touch anymore

I updated my iOS to the highest available for my Gen 2 iPod Touch. Now I can't see or snych apps to o from it via iTunes.
In fact, there are no Apps listed / displayed in iTunes when I synch and look at my iPod's content--the apps category disappeard.
Can anyone help?

You appear to be stuck on iOS 4.2.1. That means up really have a 2G iPod. A real 3G can go to 5.1.1

None of the games currently sold on the iTunes Store are compatible with the Touch. In June, there is scheduled to be an update to the Touch software (at a cost) that will allow you to add applications. The iTunes Store will then be selling applications that can be loaded onto the Touch.

Help me, I'm trying to update my apps on my ipod touch directly from the ipod as I always do. .When I click the update button it says "cannot connect to itunes store". So I plugged it into my computer and I notice there isn't a library of apps for me to click on and see if there are any updates. What do I do?

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4. I can broswe and buy apps on the iPhone, yet I get "Cannot connect to iTunes store" on the update page. What is also strange is that I can't update on my PC either. Same deal...I can buy apps but the update button doesn't do anything (not even an error message). This happens at home and at work on WiFi and also on 3G on my phone.
