Can't install Oracle Test Manager

Hi,
I’m trying to install Oracle Test Manager and I have got an error message on XE installation step: “installation of OracleXE failed.”
The first line of log file says : “OXE_Detect: No OATS installed version found. Detecting external OXE version.
However there is no trace of XE, neigther in Program Files nor in Services. Only the following Oracle services exist:
•     Oracle Application Testing Suite Helper Service (Open Scipt) =>Running
•     OracleMTSRecoveryService
•     Oracleora9i_homeClientCache
Is there anything to remove in Registry or somewhere else?
Thanks by advance for your help

Hi,
You can validate OID installation through 'opmnctl' and/or 'ldapbind'. You can access 'Oracle Directory Services Manager' through a browser using the url -
'http://<host>:<port>/odsm/faces/odsm.jspx'.
Here is a link which shows screenshots of the overview of 'Oracle Directory Services Manager'.

Can we install oracle 10g database on Windows Vista Home Edition?

You didn't specify which Oracle10 Edition.
In the case of SE/SE one/EE, with a paid license Supported has a mean impact on production environments with paid licenses, since you wouldn't run on an unsupported platform facing the risk of being left without technical support from Oracle in case of an emerging issue.
For the XE Edition, this is not a certified combination, since the only certified editions are the Business, Enterprise, and the Ultimate editions, but you can try it, you don't have nothing to loose, supported, certified vs. unsupported in this case makes no difference since this XE is not supported either way (no patchsets, no bug fixes, no technical support from metalink), just an AS IS free software.
On the license agreement terms displayed when you download the XE software it states:
    "No Technical Support
Our technical support organization will not provide technical support, phone support, or updates to you for the programs licensed under this agreement."
    and
"THE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE FURTHER DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS AND IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE."
In case someone would be able to win a trial against oracle due to damage from the use of this software, the amount paid at maximum is 1,000.00 USD, not enough to even pay the lawyer's lunches.
For the XE users the primary source of 'kind of support' is the oracle forums, either the installation forum, the general database or the specialized XE forum.
Of course if this is for your own personal use for learning and testing and there are no third parties you could damage by doing this and if you don't have a paid license for this installation you may try it, but don't expect the Enterprise Manager to behave as defined by the manual, most of it won't work since the Home Edition doesn't have the privileges required for EM to work.
If this is your personal computer and when you bought it the computer provider installed from factory Home Edition, and if you want something to work there, you can try to install a Virtual Machine and install Oracle 10g on a supported guest OS.

  • Authentication to agent workstation failed when trying to run a test in Oracle Test Manager

I have the complete version of OATS installed on my local machine. I have the OracleATSHelper, OracleATSServer and OracleATSAgent services running.
In OTM when I go to run an openscript test I select the system, type the version number and hit run and get a "Authentication to agent workstation failed" error in the summary field.
It worked before but I cant figure out why it isnt working anymore.
    Can anyone help?

    ATS Version: 12.3.0.1.0 build 376
I am getting the same error when trying to execute a script from OTM - "Authentication to agent workstation failed".
I have the OTM server on a remote (server) machine and the Oracle Agent is running on my laptop / workstation. I've tried all I have seen on this thread, but no progress. The manager is now in manual mode and the console only provides the following output:
    D:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin>d:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c  AgentManagerService.conf
wrapper  | --> Wrapper Started as Console
    wrapper  | Launching a JVM...
    jvm 1    | Wrapper (Version 3.0.3)
    jvm 1    |
One different thing, maybe, I see is that the agentmanager_auth.log is empty always.
Also, on the server, I've added this SYSTEM successfully, i.e.the Testing of the SYSTEM added in OTM always gives the success message "The system specified can be successfully accessed by the Oracle Test Manager server."  . In fact it does this even when I provide an incorrect password!

  • Oracle Test Manager - Repository query

    Hi,
I wanted some clarification and some help.
I presume the default repository in OTM is pointing to the the C Drive (i.e. where all my OFT file structure is stored). When I check the Path it says ./OFT/ but when I try to create a new reporsitory, it allows me to paste the path I want but the file Path shows as C:\OracleATS\OFT\OATS92_EBS_115102_TSK. Is this a wrong structure? Also it does not allow the Test scrip to run, giving me this error message
"oracle.oats.jagent.exception.FataljavaAgentException: unable to create stand alone databank provider"
    Regards,
    Manisha

    Hi JB,
further to my previous reply, what I have noticed it that whatever changes I do to my scripts in the client PC are not reflected in the repository which is stored in Server.
    The scenario is like this:
I have the Oracle Test Manager stored in my Server from where I can access my repository. I have Network shared the Drive (C Drive) where all my OFT filing structure is with my Client PC.
On my Client PC I have Open script installed and It's here I create all my scripts. So any changed I make here are saved on the shared network drive.
On my Server when I look at those scripts they are showing exactly as i can see on my client PC, so my scripts are fine. But when I try to pick one of my Scripts from the default repository they are not the same. Hence I am wondering if my Default repository is different to the File Structure on the C drive on my Server. Is it possible to share/amend the default repository.
I hope you can resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Manisha

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

Not sure if I understand your issue correctly. Your deployment failed during the installation and you have started the servers and trying to login?
When installing OIM in a clustered WLS domain, the docs specify various cluster configurations needed to be completed in the WLS Admin Console before running the OIM installer. These steps DO NOT include starting up of the first managed server. In fact, if you start up the managed server then you may very well run into deployment issues after the OIM application is built. Instead, when installing OIM, the installer detects that not all nodes are on-line and so will queue the deployment for later. Deployment then takes place in later steps when you are instructed to restart the app server and start managed nodes.
Thus was your managed server running when you were doing the installation? That has caused the issue. I would suggest to dump this domain (save the .xldatabasekey) if you don't wanna to dump the database part and start the installation again BUT don't start the managed server while doing the installation.

  • How to install Oracle Policy Manager?

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle Policy Manager on a server w/Oracle.
I already have Oracle DB & Client 10gR2 installed and configured, and all is working fine.
I've read that to install Policy Manager, I have to install it from the Client CD. When I did the initial install, I chose 'Administrator' install.
I ran the installer again and chose 'Custom' but didn't see anything that related to Policy Manager.
    Where can I find this?
    Thanks,
    Nora

    Hi
OPM, oracle policy manager, is installed with the old enterprise manager.
OPM is to manage VPD, virtuell private database and label security.
Label Security is an extra Option.

  • Oracle Test Manager - Import of Manual Tests - Fails with ORA-12520:

    Hi,
This issue occurs when we are trying to import manual tests into the Oracle Test Manager.
The import fails when we try to import more than 300 records. The error message in the log
    is as shown below:
    Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
    9:50:30:020 - *** DB Exception *** State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]
    State:IM006,Native:0,Origin:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]
    State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]
No one can logon to the application after this.
According to the DBA the application is using up all the processes in the Database and hence it fails.
When we restart the application service, the number of processes in the database goes down
and the application goes back to normal state.
We keep running into this issue when we try to import >=300 manual tests. (This is not an issue
    when runs are imported.)
Anybody else facing this issue? Any ideas as to how this can be resolved?
    Thanks
    Aruna

    Hi,
I had some problems with. So, consider the following:
    Simple XLS file :
    testname     owner     testdescription               Expected Result
test1          wayne     Login into User Homepage     User can view login prompt
View Accout Details          User can see account details
Create simple report          User has access to reports section
Save as pdf               .pdf generate button is available
send email               email button is active
log off                    User can View log off page
So we have four fields, teatname, owner, testdescription and Expected Result.
When we import a test (select Test tab, then project->import data, and select .xls file)
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests
    Map      testname -> TestCase ID
         owner -> Owner
         testdescription -> Test Step Action
Expected Result -> Test step expected result
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests. You should then see one test with all the steps.
    Regards
    Wayne.
    p.s. Thanks Alex!!

Any ideas on the cause of this error?

I checked and those checksums match up. I burned the .zip file to a cd. I copied the .zip to the local file system and unzipped to get the iso. I then ran the mount command to /media/iso. From the iso directory I ran the installer and now I am getting:
Buffer i/o error on device loop 2, logical block 133638
source/oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm: not an rpm package (or package manifest): input / output error.
I tried to manually install the rpm packages just to test and it said "not an rpm package"
If I burned the .iso file to a cd I get the cpio error.
I guess my next thing to do is download the zip file from a linux box.

Folks, network printers should NOT BE configured like this:
    lpadmin -p somequeue -s someprinter
that creates a remote style queue and puts all the I/O and processing capability on the basic LPD listener present on network printer interfaces. This will cause problems down the road, not to mention that you cannot control access, get any logging, filter content, or control banner pages.
Network printers should use any software (or PPD file) supplied by the vendor over the basic lpadmin/netstandard config.
You can install CUPS, but Oracle won't support it until it's part of the OS (S11, apparently).
The "System Administration Guide: Solaris Printing" is highly recommended for those administering printers on Solaris.

As far as I could understand, this is a part of Oracle EM/Grid installation:
The sections that follow describe the Oracle management packs. The management packs can be purchased only with Enterprise Edition. The features in these packs are accessible through Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and APIs provided with Oracle Database software.

  • How to install Oracle Configuration Manager on laptop without Oracle dist?

I'm sure this is the wrong forum to ask this in, but I can't find a better one.
I was trying to file a support case in My Oracle Support, which I haven't done in a long time. It appears to want me to install "Oracle Configuration Manager". I just have WebLogic installed on this box. I don't even have an Oracle installation. The installation instructions for OCM seem to be very complicated, or I'm just missing the "just do this simple thing" instructions.
I downloaded the installer, and I installed it, but when I try to submit a support case, it seems like it thinks it's not installed. It keeps on complaining that I haven't used a stored configuration, but I don't see any way to create one. I imagine that OCM is supposed to help with that, but it's not doing anything obvious.

Thanks for the link! The "Oracle® Database Installation Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1) for Solaris Operating System" link you provided says:
    +6.3 Removing Oracle Configuration Manager+
To uninstall Oracle Configuration Manager, follow these steps:
If the $ORACLE_HOME directory contains a database, remove the Oracle Configuration Manager user and the associated objects from the database by running the following script:
    SQL> $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropocm.sql
If the database is a repository for the Oracle E-Business Suite, log in to the database as an SYSDBA user and remove the additional objects from the database by running the following script:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/ebs_dropccr.sql Oracle_Applications_User+
If the database is a repository for Oracle Grid Control, log in to the database as the SYSMAN user and remove the additional objects from the database by running the following script:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropemrep_collect.sql+
To stop the Scheduler and remove the service or the crontab entry, enter the following command:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/bin/deployPackages -d $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/inventory/core.jar+
Delete the ccr directory by entering the following command:
    +$ rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/ccr+
Oracle Configuration Manager is successfully uninstalled.
However, $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropocm.sql does not exist on our system.
