Can't install OS X. I also, unrelated however, I also want to die

Got an iMac to set up for a client.
First experience with a Mac.
We bought it used from someone on CL. It came with a MacBook Pro installation disc by accidentally.
The Mac has been formated using a Live Disc (Ubuntu actually but might have been Partition Magic)
The client gave me 2 downloaded copies of Leopard on DL-DVDs. When booting up, either hitting C, or holding Option, or letting it boot on it's own will only render the apple logo and nothing. I left it on all night, just the logo.
Knowing the 2 copies of the OS were just copies and probably illegal, I decided to buy a legitimate version of OS X earlier today from the Apple Store.
(Only 35$? That's amazing!)
Same problem.
I decided to try to install Ubuntu and Win 7 but with no use. (Ubuntu gave me an error to quick to read, Win 7 is just a black screen with no way to inject the display drivers)
I looked everywhere I can. I can't find anyone who has this problem.
Help! Why does this computer jam when booting up an Installation Disc?!
**Its important to note that before formating the installation disc (the copies) worked within the desktop. So specifically the computer wont boot off this disc.**

There is nothing new about that. Apple has always said Not to install a version of Mac OS X that was older than the version that comes preinstalled on a new Mac.
Don't install a version of Mac OS X earlier than that which came with your Mac
Under normal circumstances you cannot just boot a Mac with a Windows install DVD and install it on a Mac. First, it has to be an Intel-based Mac, not a PowerPC-based Mac. You would need to install Mac OS X on the Mac and then use Boot Camp to create a special partition that would allow you to install Windows. And you cannot install just any version of Windows on a Mac, there are minimum requirements.
If you contact Apple Canada they should be able to help you purchase the correct install DVD for this model of Mac.
What model of Macintosh is this?

I cannot install an update on Photoshop 11 because it says I have programs running that must be closed.  I have no programs running and I have restarted my computer twice and am unable to install this update.  Also, I need the update because the tutorial for 11 shows a completely different screen than I have on my version of 11.  Please advise.

Garbage which operating system are you using?  Have you tried using the Task Manager/Activity Monitor to close the offending application/process?

    Hi there
What is your project type? Responsive? If so, that's why animation is disabled. Animations are usually built in Flash and Responsive output doesn't "do" Flash.

  • Have PSE10 installed on Acer. Can I install PSE10 on Mac also? [was:Photoshop Transfer]

    Hello!
I currently have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 installed on my Acer Aspire as well as Premiere Elements 10 as it came with my photoshop. I now have a Macbook Pro Retina (no disk slot) and was wondering if it is at all possible to put my photoshop on my Macbook instead?
    Thank you!

    Hi j.coyes,
If you have a serial key for Multiple Platforms then the license can be used on both windows & MAC platforms.
Else the serial keys can be used only for specific platforms for which they were purchased.
    Thanks

  • On how many systems can i install dreamweaver cs6

About a month ago i have format my whole old pc with also dreamweaver cs6 deleted (i had troubles with my whole pc, thats the reason to format the whole pc) I sell the empty pc. only windows 7 on it.
Now i have an new pc. and i have installed dreamweaver cs6 on it. it works ok.
My question is: on how many computers can i install dreamweaver cs6
I have in my home 2 times the program installed. one on this pc and one on the pc that i selled (The program dreamweaver cs6 was not anymore on that pc that i selled. I had deleted it)
Now I would like to sell the adobe dreamweaver cs6, becaus i don't need it anymore. is this possible? because i had installed it on two systems in my home. one on this system and one on a system that i selled (deleted the DWcs6 on the selled pc).

You seem to be asking two different questions.
The answer to how many computers you can install Dreamweaver on is two. However, if you want to sell Dreamweaver, you must transfer the licence entirely to the other person. In other words, you can't keep Dreamweaver on one of your computers, and sell the other permitted installation to someone else.
Details of how to tranfer the licence (or sell your copy) can be found here: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html.
However, you say that you deleted your version from one computer. That's not enough. You should have deactivated it first. You will need to get Adobe to cancel the activation on the computer you no longer have. Otherwise, the person who buys from you won't be able to install on two computers.

  • Can I install Cs6 master suite on a MBP icore 5

Has anyone else installed cs6 master suite on a MBP icore 5 processor. Does anyone recommend upgrading to icore 7?  My basis for purchasing the MBP would be for website design etc....

I have CS6 installed on a 3.1GHz i5 iMac and a 2.66GHz Core2Duo MacBookPro.  It runs absolutely fine on both machines.   There should be no reason to doubt that it would run on an i5 MacBookPro.   Note: I highly recommend at least 8GB RAM;  16GB if you can afford it.
You may also want to check Adobe's specs for CS6 Master Suite.

  • Can I install CS6 for both Mac and PC with same license?

I have made my first installation to Mac and it's visible in my purchases. I tried to download CS6 to my PC but it didn't accept the same product serial number.
How can I install CS6 to PC also?

You can't. Standalone serial numbers are platform specific. Only Creative Cloud is cross-platform.

  • HT5639 can i install windows xp with bootcamp

can i install windows xp with bootcamp? Which version bootcamp should I go for?

Depending on which Mac mini you have and your OS X version, you can install Windows XP or not in Boot Camp.
First, open  > About this Mac, and tell me what OS X version you have. If it's 10.7 or 10.8, you can't install Windows XP. Also, if you have a Mid 2011 or newer Mac mini, you can't install it too. In this case, you have to use Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows XP on a virtual machine.
If you have 10.5 or 10.6, you can install Windows XP in Boot Camp. Have a look at this website to see which Boot Camp version you need > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634

  • Can't install iTunes 11 (or a few earlier ones) to Windows 7

I've been trying to update iTunes for the last few updates. I've tried both via the apple website, and via the updater on iTunes. It downloads fine, then during the install I get this message:
I have never been able to find the 'installation package' in the Program Files (or PFiles or Program Files (x86)). I can't install an older version either. I don't want to lose iTunes completely! Anyone had the same problem?
    Anna

    First try this fixit:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
If that doesn't work you may need the the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been withdrawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google  msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Save the file on your PC.
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista/Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
If you get  permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did *not* uninstall, look out for entries that start All Users that are blank entries or have numeric entries that look like version numbers
restart your PC and try installing iTunes

Maybe something nasty is on the pc preventing installation. Pop ms essentials on for a while. Do a full scan and run malware, spybot etc.
I had exactly this issue and in the end wiped everything and reinstalled windows.
    Tedious. But it solved it.

    1
    Close all iWork applications
    2
Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
Reinstall Keynote by logging into the Mac App Store using download / install

  • I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drvie to die before i use the other drives

I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drive to die before i use the other drives? Or, what is the best way to handle this?

I do not know what you are waiting for.
I'd make a backup of your important stuff before cloning the entire disk.
Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external  firewire drive.  You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs!

Can I install a second copy of photoshop elements 2.0 on my partners laptop? and can she use it also?

    Wow, Thanks for the answer,
As some software has multiple user limitations, i wanted to check that out, in case your only meant to install on only one computer,
so its okay for my partner to use it to?
And also, is it alright to make money from using photoshop elements 2.0?
Do you recommend any free up dates to elements 2.0?
    Thanks
