Can't install OS X to Macbook Pro

After I erase my hard-disk by Disk Utility, I can't do anything with my hard-disk.
This is the image of problem:
Then, I can't install OS X because the hard-disk disappear:
So, how can i fix this problem?
Thank so much.

I tried to 3 options:
- I boot the MBP with my external HDD, then I go to Disk Utility, I can't Erase and format the internal HDD, everything in Partition are hide. But with external HDD, I can Erase and format.
- I boot the MBP with my external HDD, then I install OS X 10.10 into external HDD, it's run. When OSX installed, I run it and try to Erase and format the internal disk, but it can't.
- I see 4 option (includes "backup from Machine....", "Install MAC OSX", "Terminal", and "Disk Utility"), but in Disk Utility function, I can't erase and format this.
I think, the problem is when I format the internal HDD, I forgot set the function GUID in "Option" button. Then, it ask me to set up the password for my internal HDD, beside that, I did'n choose the 1 partion, just leave in "current" function. So, when I restar my MBP, I can't do anything with my internal HDD (despir the internal HDD is formatted to MAC OS Extended (Journaled)). And the last OS that I used is Marverick.
Do you have any ideas?
Tks.

  • Can't install Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro - DVD won't mount

I am unable to install Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro as the DVD won't mount.  This is an early 2008 vintage MacBook Pro, intel core duo...
I'm using a OS X Snow Leopard install DVD (family licensed).  This DVD has been used to install 3 other Macs in my house without a problem (about a year ago), but cannot be used to upgrade my MBP.  Actually, this disk mounted on the MBP exactly once - inserted with system up, the disk mounted.  Upon running the installed (a year ago), the computer restarted but hung in boot.  After getting the disk ejected and the computer restarted, the disk would never mount again.  I've defered upgrade for a year but at this point need to upgrade my MBP at least to Snow Leopard and possibly Lion.
The problem doesn't seem to be with the DVD, since it continues to mount fine in other computers, and in fact a borrowed Snow Leopard DVD also will not mount on the MBP.
BUT ... the problem also does not seem to be with the optical drive in my computer, as it can read & mount the install/restore disks that came with the computer as well as other CDs and DVD ROMs.  Only the Snow Leopard install DVDs fail to mount.
I've also tried mounting the 10.6 install DVD on my Mac Pro desktop, making it available over the network (ethernet) with DVD/CD sharing.  I can mount the remote disk from my MBP that way, but when I launch the installer, the application launches (its own menus are displayed, I can quit from menu, for example) but does nothing -- no windows open, nothing.
I've also tried "Remote Install" (again with the DVD made available with the Remote Install MacOS X application on my desktop), but when I boot the MBP with option held down, the remote disk is not available as a startup disk.
Zapping the PRAM did not help.
Am off to the store to get an optical drive cleaning kit and a blank DVD big enough to burn a new disk image, but would appreciate any further ideas at this point....

Solution that worked: Copy the Install DVD to a USB flash drive and boot from that.

  • How can i install windows 7 on macbook pro lion  from usb?

hello am sorry to disturb you
i would like to know the above question since i have looked almost everywhere and i have received no answer
i have a macbook pro i5 with lion
i have been trying for month to install windows 7 as a secondary boot to my mac
but i haven't been able to
    things that i have done
    -i had downloaded win7 iso
    -using another computer i installed win7 on the usb { win to flash }
-i have used bootcamp assistant but apparently i need a dvd of win7 which i currently don't have
-i have installed Reffit but i always get a flashing screen when try to load windows
please i hope you can reply me back if possible
    my thoughts are
is that apple disabled the efi on lion to not be able to boot from usb flash drive
my reasoning to this is that is used to work  on leopard but not lion
again am trying to boot from usb not burn a disc
    please help att alcidio

Rule #1 that TP missed: ISO have to be burned at SLOWEST 2X burn speed to work.
There is/was a long thread but booting Windows from USB-DVD or flash is hit or miss, it may work. USB-DVDs often do not but it is possible to edit the plist to add the Mac ID string to it.
    Boot Camp Assistant -
    create a partition (done)
download Windows Support Software (drivers to install after Windows is running) (done)
Start the install and boot process - not really needed or essential
And you can use Paragon, you can use Windows 7 or later DVD and do entire install (but on a dedicated 100% Windows hard drive).
Flash drive: has to be MBR and FAT or NTFS (I think, sounds right) same for putting Apple drivers on flash card  for which there is an Apple Tech Article.

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro 2013

Can I install Snow Leopard on my new MacBook Pro 2013. I'm so tired of the UGLY grey icons. I keep thinking that the mail or iPhoto window is not the active one because everything is grey.  I use Snow Leopard on my 27inch iMac and love it. Nice RED delete button for mail, etc. Thanks

Firmware restrictions prevent directly loading any OSX earlier than what came with the system.
The *only* way around is to load SnowLeopard *Server* (not Client) into a virtual machine (Parallels, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox).  But that costs $20+shipping/tax for the disk and is a learning curve into SL Server.  And you *still* need your host OSX to run it, and the VM will not most efficiently use the hardware resources.

  • Can't install Snow-Leopard on Macbook pro (Midd 2010)

    Hi there,
    i have i big problem, i can't install a retail-version from snow-leopard (Version 10.6) on my Macbook pro.
Follow Situation: yesterday i get the Developer-Preview from Lion and install it onto my productiv-system. Not a good idea, i know, but i have a backup and will back to Snow Leopard. So, i try to start the Retail-Version DVD and she start, but only to the gray Apple-Symbol. Then they stop and don't go away.
I try to reset the PRAM, the SMC, no result. I try to start the installation from a USB-Image, same result. I try to start the installation from another harddisk/partition, the same result.
When i press cmd-v at the start i can read, that they stop after the load from the extensions.kext.
I have a Problem, a big Problem, i know. But what can i do?

You will need to use the system disk that shipped with your unit, the build is most likely different then the one on the retail version
Then after it is installed- you can use the migration assistant to import your data from your backup.

  • Can I install Windows 8 on MacBook Pro retina?

I need to install Windows 8 or 7 in Boot Camp in order to run my embroidery software. What specific form of Windows do I need to install a full version (not an upgrade, since I do not have Windows on the MacBook Pro)? Also, I understand that Boot Camp 5 will not run Windows 8.1. Should I buy Windows 7 and steer clear of 8 altogether?
My Bernina and Floriani embroidery software will run on either Windows 7 or 8.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Joanna

Yes but with that version, style, it is tied to the first set of hardware, computer, it is installed on. So in theory it can't be moved to another set of hardware, computer.

  • Can't install Windows on 2013 MacBook Pro

I'm attempting to install 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro on my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro (15", high end) and running into the same issues that I've seen others have in the past. The main issue is that I get the error "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of the installation. To install Windows, restart the installation." after the installation completes. I've tried other suggestions that I've found online:
Don't use Boot Camp Utility at all, partition the disk with Disk Utility
    Format with Windows diskpart
Assign a letter to the EFI partition (B:) to make sure Windows can see it
    Partition the disk with gdisk
Use USB 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives
    Use both USB ports
Nothing I've done seems to work. Even just wiping the entire drive and trying to install Windows entirely on it's own fails with the same error. I can't even install Windows in BIOS mode (not that I'd want to) because the disk is GPT formatted. I know I could use something like gdisk to force the disk to have a hybrid MBR, but that's a hacky workaround for an inferior solution.
I've read (and tried) the solutions in the 40-page thread from the end of last year, but it doesn't seem to have been updated in a few months. Is there a special method to install Windows on these new MacBooks?

Ok will not work without a fresh install
Restart holding down command R, use disk utility to completely erase the drive and return drive to single Mac journaled partition
    Install OSX to this drive
Once OSX is running, restart and do a PRAM reset
Then open disk utility and repair permissions TWICE
Run boot camp assistant and let it do everything, create ISO, DL windows support and install Windows
If you need a clean 8.1 ISO, go http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-8-1-download/
    Good luck

  • How can I install Windows 7 on Macbook Pro 17' (2009 model)?

I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).
I get into a white screen (bootscreen) then it goes into a blackscreen. I am in the Setup screen because I hear my DVD reading when I press enter.
When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
    Pease help ?

Let me get this - because the title misled me as to what you are asking, ie:
I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).

When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
Does the above really tell the story?
The issue isn't "How can I install Windows" but more like "I am trying to get past " an issue with Boot Camp 4.01.
Some people that already had BC 4.x installed had trouble after March's "Patch Tuesday" which was a critical number of security patches and updates. They had to rollback, uninstall an update/driver, before they could move forward.
The trouble with "had to zap pram to get back to Mac OS" is more to do with the health of the partition table and nvram, and you could try using both Windows control panel to set the default OS, and set Startup Disk control panel in Mac OS (click OFF the volume name, then back to the volume, too).
Sometimes there are problems with 3rd party NTFS for OS X that people use as well.
Boot into Lion Recovery - that should be first step if there are problems with Mac, and you don't sound like you tried boot Windows DVD (which I asked above, which can fix errors).

  • How can I install RootsMagic to my MacBook Pro?

Can someone explain how I can install RootsMagic 6 onto my MacBook Pro?  I know it can be done and I would love to use this program on this computer.

it appears as though it is only Windows based software, so you would need to install Windows on your mac either in Bootcamp or in a Virtual Machine.

  • How can I install WinPE on a MacBook Pro? (or any other way to repair Win7 boot sector on a MacBook Pro?)

    Hello,
    I run MacOS X 10.8.5 and Win7 SP1 installed on a MacBook Pro (model summer 2010).
I used to run Win7 using Parallels desktop. I have version 9.0.23036 installed.
Unfortunately, the boot sector for Win7 got corrupted or erased (???)
I have many professional apps installed on Win7, not easy to re-install...
=> I try to find a way to use WinPE to solve the issue.
But I cannot boot directly from WinPE (v3.n?) on a USB memory stick. It stops when loading the system files.
Is there a way to run WinPE anyway? Using Boot Camp? Using Parallels desktop? by copying some Parallels drivers onto the WinPE system? (but which ones? where to copy them?)
Is there any other way to re-create the boot sector for Win7 without a full re-install?
    Many thanks for any help.

    Thank you very much.
I could make a bootable clone of the Ma OS side using Carbon Copy Cloner. This point is OK.
I sill get trouble with the WinRE environment: I cannot boot directly from the Win7 DVD: the loading of the system files stops at a certain point and I cannot get the Windows menu.
I could read a procedure on the Parallels.com support site (http://kb.parallels.com/en/5223) and tried to follow it (my Windows was installed using Boot Camp). The problem is that, unliked described on step 2 (Choose to "Start Windows Installation"), I can't get this choice in the Boot Camp menu. I only have two choices : "Download the latest Windows support software" or "Remove Windows 7 or later version". Do you know how I can get the "Start Windows Installation" choice, so that I can launch the Windows DVD through Boot Camp?
    Thank you in advance

  • Can't install osx on 2009 macbook pro

Hey guys i'm haveing a nightmare getting osx reinstalled on my macbook pro, firstly i have no experance with mac's but have always wanted too so when offered this macbook pro i snapped it up even with a dead HDD thinking it to be a very easy fix, so replaced the drive with a new one and still can't install osx
anyway here's whats going on, i booted the macbook with the instalation dvd it loads up as it should but when you get to the select drive part nothing is there so googled a few things and found the drive has to be set-up first so entered disk utility to partition and format the drive but get an error with whatever i do, i have removed and reseated the HDD cable and memory and have tried booting with only one stick to see if there was an error with one of the sodimm's, i have also tried accessing the AHT but none of the ways i have found work............ please if anyone can help me, please let me know

Thanks for the reply mate, sorry to say i have tried every option in disk util i've even tied a couple of terminal commands to do the same thing with no luck, i have however been able to remove the partition but that's where the good news ends as i can't create a new one..... is there anyway to prep the disk in windows? as i don't have an external case or another mac?
also what are the chances of the HDD cable being at fault? after more googeling i found someone with the same sort of problem's as me and he ended up replacing the cable http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/237964-cant-partition-brand-new -hard-drive.html unfortunatly i don't have an apple store anywhere near me so thats not an option but it's something i could do myself, the only problem is i don't have the £18 for a new one right now as i've had to buy a HDD and charger as well as the macbook and it's left me a little skint lol

  • Can't install CS4 on new MacBook Pro

I'm trying to install CS4 on a brand-new MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.3. The Setup doesn't even start. I get an error message: "Setup cannot be opened because of a problem." It says that Setup won't work with this version of Mac OS X.
In the Terminal details, there is the following error:
    Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/asneu.framework/Versions/A/asneu
    Referenced from: Users/...
    Reason: image not found
I get the same error whether I double-click on the Setup.app or do Open Package Contents > Contents > MacOS > Setup.exe.
I have researched this error and found that other people have had the issue when the setup process is 90% through, but I can't even get mine to start. I've tried using the CleanScript app from Adobe, but since I don't have another version of Creative Suite on this brand-spankin-new computer, there's nothing to clean or uninstall. I've also tried creating another admin login to install from that, but to no avail.
    Any help out there?

the error says library not found. Somehow the install program does not execute properly. It might be a problem of the disc. If you have a second computer or an external Drive try to install from there and see if the same error occurs. If it does, then it must be the CDs. If not then we have to investigate further.
