Can't install Photoshop because of "not enough space" error

When I try to install Photoshop CS4 it tells me that my chosen path does not have the sufficient amount of space available when it clearly does (4.2gb compared to the 1.2gb needed).
Does anybody know why or how to fix this issue ?
thanks

It is time to do a major housecleaning. I'd archive a ton of "stuff," and also remove any unused programs. Once done, defrag your C:\, if you have room to do so. You can use the Windows defrag utility, or a program like Diskeeper.
Now, if you ONLY have a C:\, and one that is full, you will have issues with Scratch Disk space. If that is the case, you will want to add at least one more HDD. These are cheap today, and one can add a couple of 1TB ATA-300's for less than US$200. Actually, one can add two 1.5TB ATA-300's for under that price!
I agree completely with Curt, that one should never fill a HDD beyond about 75%. Trouble can ensue.
Good luck,

  • Not enough space error on ipad since installing itunes 11

    hi
    i installed the new version of iTunes (V11) tonight but since then have been unable to sync new video files to my ipad.
    The ipad has 8.61 GB free and I'm trying to add 8 x 235mb files to the device but each time it gets to Step 5 (determining tracks to sync) and freezes for a while before I get the error message that it cannot be synched as there's not enough space on the device to hold all the items in the itunes library which requires another 14.59 GB.
    I've not got any music on the ipad and the status bar on the summary screen is telling me I've loads of free space. Could this related to the new itunes installed today?
    thanks

    Computers will read a 2GB iPod Nano as having approximately 1.8 GB. (This is because hard drive manufacturers measure gigabytes in a decimal system, and computer OS's, Mac and Windows alike, read gigabytes in a binary system). You'll want to make sure your playlist is definitely smaller than this. If it is, and you still think you're having a problem, you can try restoring the iPod:

    You might also want to try changing the iPod's drive letter:

    Thanks for your attention! :)

    I'm not sure because the code that I'm testing is not written by me and it's very large. I suppose that must write into cache. Anyway, I've erased 3 lines and now the problem is moved to another line. In that line, the solution seems to be easier.
    Thanks!
    PS: this is the code (where the DataOutputStream doesn't make any useful thing :s):
         private void keep(MapTile mt) {
              // Move it to the top of the pile
              cache.putLast(mt.xyz, mt);
              if (mt.bytes != null && mt.rmsID == -1 && rms != null) {
                   // Freshly downloaded. Put it into the RMS cache.
                   byte[] buffer = (byte[])app.sharedBuffers.claimResourceIgnoreInterrupt();
                   try {
                                    if (rms.getSizeAvailable()>buffer.length) {
                                        FixedByteArrayOutputStream baos = new FixedByteArrayOutputStream(buffer);
    //                                    DataOutputStream dos = new DataOutputStream(baos);
    //                                    mt.writeTo(dos, MapTile.WITH_BYTES);
    //                                    dos.close();
                                        baos.close();
                                        mt.rmsID = rms.addRecord(buffer, 0, baos.count());
                                        mt.rmsBytesUsed = mt.bytes.length;
                   catch (Exception e) {
                        app.exception("An error occured while caching a map tile to RMS.", e);
                   finally {

  • Wont sync because of not enough space but it also says i have free space at the bottom

    I synced my entire itunes at first. Then  I got some more music off an old ipod and wanted to put it on knowing I have to select specific artist or albums instead of the whole collection. I have around 3000 songs on the ipod now. Its not letting me sync around 2000 songs it says because not enough space.  The gauge at the bottom says i have 6 gbs left and the ipod it self says it has 3 gbs.  This is all besides the point because Im trying to put less stuff on there.  Why?

    hey ,
    if it is showing you 34 mails them it is correct. when you see your mail. apple has a smart way of arranging your mail.suppose you recieve 4 mails from one email id it will show you under one highlighted mail. so when you open a mail from anyone trying scrolling it down and you will find your missing mails.

  • Installing very large program (not enough space in root partiton)

    Hello,
    I want to install the xilinx webkit which is about 10G in download size only. I have not enough space on my root partition and would like to install this on my /home partition. Is this possible?
    Thanks

    Well that should use symlinks, like Android.

  • Export from iPhoto to folder, then copy to CF card, not enough space error.

    Here is an interesting problem, I'm trying to get 126 photos from iPhoto to a 64MB compact flash card.
    I used the export in iPhoto and scaled to 800/1200 and saved them to folder on my desktop. When I get info on folder, it says size of files is 42.2MB. I drag the 126 photos from that folder to the Compact Flash card I have mounted using a SanDisk card reader. When it gets to the 85 photo, it says "unable to copy, insufficient disc space" and doesn't copy any of the pics to the CF card. If I copy the first 84 pics to the CF card, then they will copy to the card and then when I get info on the card it states 31 MB available and 30 MB used. When I try to copy any of the remaining photos, it states not enough space. What gives?
    The very interesting thing is if I export the same photos and scale to 400/600, the get info on the folder states the size of the files is now 15.4MB. But when I try to copy to the CF card, still only 84 will go on the card.
    Finally, I changed the name from "use album name" to "use title" and exported scaled 800/1200 and was able to get 114 of the 126 pics on the card, but it still says free space remaining. I can't figure this out!
    (I need to transfer the photo's to the compact flash card because my wife got one of those digital picture fames for her Birthday, but the thing is not compatible with Mac! So have to transfer pics to card, then plug the card in the frame and it will show the pictures. Unable to hood up the frame to the Mac using USB. It does not recognize the frame.)
    Anyone want to take a crack and solving this issue?
    Thanks for your response in advance.

    HI ksduckfan,
    I am not sure if this is your problem, but you must drag the photos into a certain folder in the compact flash card. When you take photos and then mount the card (with the reader) did you notice what folder in the card had the photos in it. To find out, double click the mounted card on the desktop and look inside to find the folder with the photos. This is the folder you must copy the photos back into when you do the transfer.
    There is a third party application that will make the process easier for you.

  • Mmap:Not enough space error

    I am using mmap for the cache and I frequently get the following errors:
    BDB0126 mmap: Not enough space
    BDB0061 PANIC: Not enough space
    BDB1546 unable to join the environmennt
    The cache size is 100 MB in 4 segments. How an I fix this problem.

    Lets go back to the original problem which is BDB0126 mmap: Not enough space.
    As discussed in my initial post, BDB is making a mmap OS call and this call is returning an error.
    This error is directly tied to your system.   You are trying to allocated 400MB in 4 100MB segments.
    I suggested you write a test program and perform a test.
    I also suggested you reduce the segments -- if you used 3 as an example you would have 3 100MB segments.
    This would effectively reduce your overall cache.
    You could also use something other than mmap as BDB provides other options which are covered in the docs.
    You will need to debug your own system to figure out if the problem is lack of total memory or lack of 100MB chunks
    of memory or something totally different.   What I know is the mmap OS call is returning a -1 on your system.
    The other errors you reported all stem from the first one, so the first one is what need to investigate..
    thanks

  • I can't install Itunes because of Windows installer package error, please help!

    I tried installing Itunes for a long time on my desktop, I'm running Vista. Everytime I try to install Itunes it runs for a bit, then gives me this message
    " There is a problem with Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
    I went through many posts on how to solve this problem, I uninstalled and deleted all the files from this thread : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    and tried to reinstall Itunes, didn't work, same error message.
    After i tried to install Itunes in Clean boot still didn't work.
    I also downloaded MicrosoftFixit.Program which apperantly fixed this problem for some people, not for me.
    Then I extracted Itunes and tried to install all the components seperately, everything installed correctly, however when I tried to install Apple Software update
    I got the same error message, i think it is the Apple software update that is causing this problem but I have no idea how to solve this problem.
    How do I solve this, any thoughts or suggestions???

    Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    Now, uninstall Bonjour from Control Panel.

  • HELP: Trying to return TM backups to the original external HD but unable. "Not enough space" error.

    **** I posted this in the wrong OS section, so I have reposted it in the Mountain Lion section. Sorry for the mix-up. Here is the original post. Thanks for looking. ****
    Hi everyone,
    I really hope you can help. I've spent a good 3 days with this issue, including speaking with WD directly and Apple support. But, no solution.
    I have a MacBook Pro with the newest version of Mountain Lion.
    I recently realized that my backups were taking way too long and that the partition that I had created on my external hard drive was too small. The external hard drive is 500GB in size and the partition was 160GB for Time Machine backups.
    I decided to copy my backups to my Mac Mini then reformat my external hard drive using Disk Utility so I would have only one single partition of 500GB. I created a folder in the Mini called "Nubee Mac" then another folder within that called "Backup" and dropped the "Backups.backupdb" of Time Machine inside there. At the time, the Mini had Snow Leopard on it. I have since upgraded to Mountain Lion on the Mini, hoping the issue would be solved. I erased the external WD 500GB drive, repartitioned several times, etc.
    The issue occurs when I try to place my backups back into the external hard drive that I reformatted. I open the "Nubee Mac" folder then the "Backup" folder then drag/drop the "backups.backupdb" into the freshly reformatted WD external drive. The items start copying (like 3.8 million) and towards the end of the transfer, I get the following message:
    The item “Backups.backupdb” can’t be copied because there isn’t enough free space.
    I tried several times, and keep getting the same error message. I used the Mac terminal to determine the size of my "backup.backupdb" folder which is 139GB. So there should be plenty of room on the WD external.
    Why is this happening ? Can someone help me please ? I've read Pondini's Time Machine help website, but was unable to find a clear solution. I tried some of the simple things suggested like "repair" and"verify" and there are no problems. Also tried with GUID and Apple partition seperately. "Ignore permissions" is checked, etc ... Yet, I still can't re-transfer my backups to the external hard drive. I would really like to keep these backups ... you never know which file I may need one day.
    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks everyone !

    First, start by opening up Terminal.
    Navigate to the Backups.backupdb folder: Type "cd " and drag and drop the folder onto the terminal window. Hit enter.
    Type the following command: "sudo du -sch" and hit enter. Enter your admin password.
    Wait for du to finish counting. It will prompt the actual size of the folder in GB, not counting hard links.
    Get info on "Backups.backupdb" through Finder and compair the results. If the two sizes match, then you've lost the hard links during the first copy.

  • Memory sticks with space give 'not enough space' error if I try to add data

    This must be a known issue, but I can't find it on any searches.
    I have been trying to copy photos from a desktop folder onto 1 GByte memory sticks. I've tried 3 sticks and in each case when I try to copy data I get an error message: "The item "DSCF0204.jpg" cannot be copied because there is not enough free space" or similar.
    I've tried copying the data in smaller batches and find I can copy photos until the 'not enough free space' message appears. In the case I have on the before me know, the info window for the memory stick says it has 816.3 MB of free space - which fits with the number of photos added. The picture I am trying to add is 1.2 MB and is not corrupted. I got the same error trying to save a document from Word.
    As I say, I've had the same problem with 3 memory sticks.
    I also have a problem when it comes to burning discs - they won't burn. I can't remember the error message off hand, but perhaps there is a link with something wrong in the file copying procedure.
    My hard drive has 6.16 GB of available space.
    Any ideas or pointers to threads where this has come up greatly appreciated.

    Hi eww,
    I was meaning 'memory stick' in the generic sense, not the TM sense.
    The format of the one I'm experimenting on was FAT 16.
    Following your reformatting advice, I opened the disc utility. This showed the device as MS-DOS FILE format, with a volume in FAT 16 format. A test showed no problems with the device. I did an erase of the volume, setting the format to MAC OS Extended.
    Good news: I was able to copy all the photos onto the device. Bad news: I put it onto a Windows XP laptop and when I tried to open it I got a message saying: "You must format this device before you can use it."
    As I'm wanting to take the photos to a store that will most likely have a Windows machine this is a problem!
    I reformatted it on the Windows laptop to FAT 32. Plugging back into my powerbook and it appears on the desktop, but not in a Finder window. Disk utility now shows the volume to also be in MS DOS FILE format.
    Good news: I am able to copy all files onto it. More good news: It also opens on the PC! Bad news: Just this thing of it not appearing in a Finder window with an eject icon next to it - though it is on the desktop.
    So formatting to FAT 32 on a Windows XP has solved my immediate problem.
    When I have a bit more time, I'll see if I can find out if any of the other MAC formatting options both allow me to save data on the MAC and open the device on a Windows machine.

  • Newsstand "not enough space" error

    In the Newsstand application I keep getting en error message with NewYorker and Food & Wine magazines don't let me download any more issues. New York Times on the other hand it will let me. I have reset the ipad several times with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    I had these same issues after upgrading to IOS 5. Couln't download stuff in Newstand, always got "Not enough memory...". Also had several apps that wouldn't run.
    I took my Ipad1 to the Genious Bar.  They told me that I needed a firmware update (which you can't do yourself).  This nesscesitated a completed wipe of my iPad, adding it back as a complety new device in iTunes, but it worked.  Everything now runs as expected although I seem to notice that the whole device is a bit slower.
    I hope this saves someone some frustration!
