Can't install plug-ins Photoshop
Can't install plug-ins (3rd party namely, Nik Creative Suite) in Photoshop Ext. CS6. Anybody else? They seem to install OK but when you go to use them, the program can't load them because it says that the filters are not where they are supposed to be? I have just started this Creative Cloud deal. I am a Photographer who relies heavily on having my tools readily available to me. I am reading posts in the forums about widespread problems with authentication nags and repeatedly having to sign-in, etc. I hope I have made the right decision! If there are problems throughout this new process and will have to buy the new upgrades to Photoshop CS5, and other Adobe products and go back to owning them so I can rely on their functioning. Has anybody solved the plug-in problem?

General Product FAQs
I upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CS6, now I don't see my Nik Software plug-ins. How do I correct this?
In order to ensure the Nik Software products are installed properly into Photoshop CS6, please click here to download the latest software updates. After downloading these latest versions of the products, quit out of Photoshop and run the Nik installers. The next time you launch Photoshop CS6 they will be available.

I click the "Tools" tab, then click the "Add-ons" tab. If I then click anywhere on the "Add-ons" dialog box, the dialog box immediately closes. I can't install plug-ins or add-ons. However, this happens only with my account. Other users have no such problem. I have also tried going to the "Add-ons" dialogue box through "Tools" then "Options." I still cannot get into the "Add-ons" tab; the dialog box closes. I have tried using the keyboard instead of the mouse; same problem.

Hello, I've been trying to install BorderFX but no success. The installation well through just fine but I don't see it in File>Export. It says No Plug-ins Installed. The only guide on BorderFX's support page regarding the installation process is to follow the .mkpg installation package, which I did.

Can't install plug-ins on 2nd hard drive
I have a 60 GB hard drive running Tiger and Logic 7 Pro. I've been having the issue that when i try to install new AU plug-ins, I don't have the option of installing them on my secondary hard drive, which is 250 GB. The reason I bought the secondary drive was because I was told the operating hard drive should only run OS and Logic to be most efficient. The latest example is the AU version of the Crystal synth (freeware). Any suggestions?
Your second drive should be for your sessions, think of it as your master tape,

Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop. (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop. Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install. Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Any solution?
CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
and manually download/install from there.

The SDK documentation has always recommended that you install plug-ins in the App Data folder:
In Windows XP, "C:\Documents and Users\username\Application
Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
In Windows Vista, "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
If you've followed this advice, you can stop reading this message. Nothing will change for you.
It has always been possible, though not documented or recommended, to install plug-ins in the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2\Modules\".
When we release the final of version 2.3, this path will be changing to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.3\Modules\" and we will not be moving files from the old location to the new.
You will either need to move those files manually, or (better yet) move them to the App Data folder instead.
Mac users: We're not planning any change to the install paths on the Mac for 2.3, but this is a good opportunity for you to verify that you are installing your plug-ins in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules, as recommended, and not inside the Lightroom package in the /Applications folder.Hi,
It seems that the suggested location is not working with 2.3RC on Windows XP SP2:

Is this known issues, or should I suspect faulty Windows installation? -
When installing, get "Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory"
Began having problems when opening Firefox and trying to make Firefox the default browser. Windows 7 updated, AVG up-to-date and virus scans clean, MalwareBytes up-to-date and scans clean. Troubleshooting finally caused me to uninstall and try for clean install ... normal Windows 7 uninstall process successful. Made sure Firefox folder in "Program Files" was deleted. Downloaded "DownloadApp_1_7_5_198_Setup" (29,442 KB) from Mozilla website and run ... get "Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory. Please try again later."
Thank you guig2! Followed your bleepingcomputer.com link above and found the problem was my permissions on C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local/Temp. It was not "Full Control" for my User or Administrator. Updated the two lines to permit full control for folder, subfolder and files. Ran perfect.

Not quite sure what your question is - I simply don't understand it.
Shouldn't you rather install Adobe Reader to deal with PDF documents?
Please explain in more details if that doesn't answer your question.

Can one develop plug-ins for Photoshop Touch?
I have a few Plug-ins for Photoshop CS, can I develop plug-ins for Photoshop Touch for Tablets?
I would love for there to be a way of using my favorite plug-ins within PS Touch but I imagine that's a little more complicated than using the standard 8BF plug-in standby.

My computer has Windows XP, I also have Mozilla Firefox. I don't understand why sometimes, a bar appears across the screen, where the tabs should be , and it says I need to install plug ins. It has a button that says, install, and one that says, click here to find out what plug ins you need. I've tried pressing both of them on different occasions but no luck. Can someone Please Help me??
Checking your list of plugins, a common plugin that you do not have is Java, it may be trying to install that one. You can get it from http://java.com/

Re-install plug-ins after upgrade to CC
The chief thing holding me back from upgrading to CC is the prospect of installing all of my plug-ins, actions, brushes, etc. again.
When I upgraded from CS5 to CS6, this took days, and proved a major pain. I'd like to upgrade to CC, but not if I have to spend days re-installing plug-ins, fonts, brushes, actions, etc.
Is there a way I can upgrade from CS6 to CC without overwriting all of my stuff? In a dream world, I would download and install CC, and at first start-up, there would be all of my stuff exactly as I had it in CS6. If I can't get this or something like it, it's probably not worth it to upgrade yet.
Thanks for your time and help!
KBKB the process has not changed. If you use Third-party plug-ins and brushes the process will be the same as you have experienced previously. I would recommend contacting the Third-party plug-in manufacturers to verify they are compatible with the CC versions of the Adobe Creative applications.

I'm hoping someone here can help with this because as usual, Apple Support was completely worthless when I called.
This is not the usual Safari Can't find the Internet plug-in - MIME type problem that is prevalent in help forums.
Within the last couple of days, Safari became unable to use any of the plug-ins in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins or /Users/***/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folders. When I go to Help>Installed Plug-ins, I get a BLANK page - no Java, no NOTHING, completely blank.
Within the last 2 days, I have uninstalled then downloaded and installed the newest versions of Flash Player, Shockwave, Safari 4.0.4 and Flip4Mac WMV Player. Also uninstalled and re-installed Quicktime Pro. Still, the Installed Plug-ins page is blank.
Firefox is able to access at least some of the plug-ins and seems to be functioning normally, although It won't play the video on this page http://www.taoeffect.com/espionage/.
I've Googled for an answer and searched these forums. I've found threads that sounded similar to my issue, but were not exactly the same. I did find this page (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1966?viewlocale=en_US) but its advice didn't work for me and it doesn't mention a blank Installed Plug-ins page.
What would make Safari unable to locate the plug-ins folder?
Recently I used an app to slim my Apps folder, deleting universal binaries and extra languages. Don't know if that's in any way related - shouldn't be - I've done it before with no ill effects, but it was about the same time this problem began.
Before you ask, YES I do have the Enable plug-ins box checked in Preferences.Ratus B.V, you;'re my new hero!
I had changed my Java to 64-bit only. Never noticed any problems after doing that-it's been several weeks, I think.
After reading your message, I opened Java Preferences, clicked both *Restore Defaults* buttons, restarted Safari, and the problem was GONE!
This just reinforces how pathetic Apple Support is: Such a simple solution, and they had me uninstalling and re-installing Safari and sending in my system information for them to analyze.
This rep. (Jesse) said he was a Level 2 rep., and he went and talked to some other Level 2 reps, and no one had an answer. He emailed me their Data Capture Tool, which I was supposed to run and send the results back for analysis by an engineer. Already ran the app, but now I don't need to bother sending the results. Last time I used their tool I never received an answer back anyway.
THANKS A LOT!
Points headed your way. -
Flash plug-in not listed in the Safari installed plug-ins page
Dear all,
I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a Intel Imac and I'm facing the same problem since the first time I wanted to upgrade the version 10 of the Flash plug-in.
I have different accounts and various internet browsers (Safari, FireFox, Opera, Chrome) only Safari, on my main account (admin), causes problems. Actually the plug-in (10.3) is properly installed in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/, so common to all accounts (the users' Internet Plug-Ins folders are empty) and it is visible from the System Preferences application.
Internet Plug-Ins folder content:
AdobePDFViewer.plugin
CANONiMAGEGATEWAYDL.plugin
CANONiMAGEGATEWAYLI.plugin
DirectorShockwave.plugin
Flash Player.plugin
flashplayer.xpt
iPhotoPhotocast.plugin
JavaPluginCocoa.bundle
npContributeMac.bundle
nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
Quartz Composer.webplugin
QuickTime Plugin.plugin
QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin
But Safari doesn't lists the flash plug-in in the installed plug-ins page and returns a missing plug-in error message as I visit any website containing a flash movie. When I replace the current plug-in with version 10.0.r2 it works fine.
Before installing any upgrade I first run the uninstaller, restart the computer and then install the newest version. I tried many things to fixe this very annoying problem without success. I'm not going to list all of them but I mainly cleared Safari and Flash Player preferences, Safari Cache.db, removed all other plug-ins (to check for conflicts). I also used some tools as Apple Disk utily and OnyX to repair disk permissions and fix other possible problems.
I would be very grateful if you could help me!Hello Chris,
Any other suggestions? Because this story drives me crazy !
I don't know if it matters, but Flash CS4 is installed on my Mac.
Event if it doesn't make sense I tried to clear any file related to the flash plug-in, Flash Player and Safari
Safari:
com.apple.Safari.plist
Cache.db
Flash:
~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player/
~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/
com.macromedia.Flash Player Debugger.app.plist
Flash Player Debugger_00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CB846CCB_CrashHistory.plist
Flash Player_00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CB846CCB_CrashHistory.plist
com.adobe.flash-10.0.plist
Flash 10 MRU
flashplayer.xpt
I have uninstall Flash Player Debugger and the Flash Plugin
removed all plug-ins from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Replaced all previous versions of Flash player by the latest version (10.3r183)
I ran all OnyX maintenance scripts and repaired disk permissions
After restarting the computer I installed the plug-in and replaced all previous plug-in version everywhere
e.g. : /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash Player/Flash Player.plugin
Restarted again and then launched Safari. The plugin is well in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, but not listed in installed plug-ins list
I repeated this "procedure" several time, from different accounts, I also removed the admin rights on the problematic account and perform the installation from a new admin account without success!
I can drop any plug-in in the Internet Plug-Ins folder and I only have to refresh the the Installed Plug-ins page in order that Safari takes it into account. All, but the flash plug-in!
I really do no understand why Safari can't "see" newer plug-ins than the 10.0 version.
I'm lost and ran out of ideas! -
How to install Plug-Ins in Lightroom 5
After checking the Plug-in Manager, trying to add others than the installed ones by default, and installing Plug-ins for LR 5 within other Third-Party software, these are not installed in Lightroom 5. More, I can't find the *.lrplugin files of those Third-Party software in my Libraries.
So, any ideas, how I can manage this?

Extensions grayed out and can't access plug-ins
I've used the water mark plug-in before and it worked just fine but now when I go to window>extensions, the "extensions" are grayed out.
Macbook pro 17" with OS X 10.6.4.
Photoshop 12.01, mode RGB, 8-bit/channel.
Watermark 2.0.6. (2.0.5 didn't show up so I loaded the newer version before I noticed extension were grayed out)
The plug-ins are listed under "about plug-ins"
I use Font Agent Pro4.140 and installed the plug-in for Photoshop.
Extensions manager shows Watermar installed.
There is no Extensions Manager under "Help" in Photoshop.
I have no idea what to do to get to my plug-ins.It took me all day to fix this problem but right now the extensions are visible again.
Deleting Photoshop preferences didn't fix it.
Uninstalling Photoshop and then re-installing didn't work.
So I uninstalled the complete CS5 suite and hope that I got rid of everything before reinstalling the whole suite. I applied updates, installed plug-ins and it now works. What a pain. I am not very happy. I've never had to do this before and I would really like to know what turned the extension off so I don't have to go through this again. Now I am ready to personalize my short cut keys, etc.
Catherine.
