Can't install PP properly

Hello all.
I started this discussion a couple of weeks ago and am now getting back to solving my problem. I've been working right through with the problems and can't stand it anymore.
Thanks to all who tried to help me two weeks ago.
I installed a new video card - SAPPHIRE HD 4850 X2 2G/1G GDDR3 PCI-E.
When I got the computer back, things weren't working so smoothly so I decided to uninstall PP and Reinstall it. I have not been able to get a clean install. It goes through to the end and the last window says, Install failed. These are errors it reports:

Is there a manual unistall tool for PP CS4? Is the problem that things are being left behind after uninstalling from the control panel?
Also, when I look at my Adobe folders, I see that my drive is loaded with cache files from projects over the last year? Can they be deleted? There are cfa and pek, etc. files. The folder is over 50 gig at this point. Perhaps that's preventing a clean install?
Thanks in advance for your help and time.
Regards,
Jessica

Ok,
I went to uninstall and PP did NOT appear in the add remove program list. I guess because it never installed properly??
So, I installed MS cleaner and then installed Win CS4 clean and reinstalled Premiere. It installed just fine, but, won't boot up. I get the Premiere Pro purple box and then I get this error message:
Adobe Premiere Pro was unable to communicate with the process "ImporterProcessServer,"
I rebooted and still got that message.
I unistalled PP - this time it appeared in the Add/Remove list and reinstalled it. (didn't run the registry cleaner this time) and I'm getting the same error message.
What is going on? Any ideas??
Thanks in advance,
Jessica

  • I can't install sdk properly

    Hi all
I am absolutely new to java and I have been trying to install jdk1.3.1.04. I go through all the steps to install it but when I use javac it gives a message " bad command or file name" what is happening?
It is installed in C:\sdk1.3.1.04 directory. I changed the autoexec.bat file to read: SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JAVA\BIN; as I understand it should be. The prompt starts at C:\Windows> , I changed the directory to C: and then try javac and I get the message above "bad command...."
I hope someone can help me get started with this.
just one extra comment. I seem to have 2 autoexec.bat files the 1st is in C: and the 2nd is in C:\windows\command\ebd. The one I changed is the one in C:
    God Bless Java

One point: I went into system information in system
tools and I was looking to see if I could see
anything. The following code is in there twice
java runtime environment 1.3.1_04 damaged 1,3,1,4There is nothing wrong with the download. It should be there twice. The following information is from http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3.1_01a/faq.html
Q: The file Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1_0x (an ActiveX Control) in the WINNT/Downloaded Program Files directory says it's "Damaged." What does this mean? What can I do about it?
A: This is a cosmetic bug; you won't run into any actual problems with the Java Runtime Environment. It does not mean that anything is damaged or that the installation failed. However, if you would still like to make it read "installed" instead of "damaged", you can edit the windows registry. First double-click on the ActiveX Control that is "damaged" (Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1_0x) and check the ID value. Go to Start->Run, type regedit and hit "Ok". Traverse to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE//Software//Microsoft//Code Store
Database//Distribution Units//{ID}//DownloadInformation, where ID is the value of the ID. Double click on the INF registry string, delete the string contents, and hit "Ok". The status of the previously "damaged" ActiveX control should now say "installed".

When I put in javac at the dos prompt it shows all the
options so that part works. At this point you seem to be ok; watch your capitalization and other programming errors.

  • Can't Install CS2 Properly on WXP SP3

    Hi All,
I recently bought Windows 7 and Adobe CS4 through my school's bookstore, well a few months ago. Before wiping out my XP install I made sure to do the "de-activiation" and for good measure, I even uninstalled CS2 (not sure if I really needed to but I did)... I installed Win7 (formatting the hdd) and CS4 and that is all working great... Now, a few months later, I'm attempting to install my old CS2 install on another computer of mine (WXP SP3). When I start the install, everything seems to work as expected until it shows the progress bar where it shows the progress of the install... Disc 1 finishes in about 2 seconds and prompts me for disc 2, again, 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 3, and finally again 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 4. Nothing is getting installed except for the "shared components"...
Why is it doing this? and what can I do to troubleshoot this?
I've copied all four discs to a folder on C: and tried the install from thier with the same results (minus the prompting for discs)...
    Thanks for your help,
    Justin

Michael - I've purchased full licenses of both CS2 (several years ago) and CS4 (just a few months ago) from my college bookstore. It is not an upgrade. It is a full academic license. I am attempting to install CS2 on another computer I own. I am not violating any terms of service. So now back to my problem.
No Adobe products (except Adobe reader) or trials have been installed on this computer...
I've search through the Adobe KB and have tried the following with no success...
    1) My specific problem is mention in this "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Mac OS X)" document... But I'm not using Mac OS... so this leads me to believe that this is a known issue by Adobe???
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331299.html
    2) The windows equivilant document "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Windows)" doesn't mention my specific problem, but I walked through all the steps anyways, but nothing resolved this issue.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331298.html
    3) Also linked in the above KB article is a "Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x (Windows)" document that I've followed but none of the folders, files, or registry entries that this documents says to remove exist on my computer...
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331300.html
Has anyone run into this issue with CS2 running through the entire install in a matter of seconds? and/or anyone have some troubleshooting steps that I could try next???
    Thank You for your help,
    Justin

  • Can't Install CS4 properly. Please help.

    Hi,
I've looked around, this forum and other forums for help, but nothing has availed.
I have tried so many things such as running the winCS4cleanupScript.
    Problem:
When i try to install CS4, everything seems fine until a message pops up saying,
Installation has failed, following programs failed to install, adobe premiere & some other program.
I click continue, and happens again to all the programs.
In the end the error code was 1603, Looked something like this:
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
    Adobe Bridge CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
    Adobe Device Central CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.    etc.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Tim,
Follow the mentioned below steps it will work for you.
    1) Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
    2)  Download, unzip, and run the Adobe Windows CS3 Cleanup Script (which  relies on the Windows program mentioned above to run) here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Please run level 3 of the cleanup script to make it work.
As I said before, even though the Cleanup Script says it’s for CS3, it did work for me in installing CS4 as well.
Note: This is something we should use with Win 32 not with Win 64.
    Regards,
    Sam

  • Can't install Flash Properly

I'm a bit dim.  I'm trying to install Flash on OS X, and I keep getting this popup message, which is unresponsive:
I click on "Allow", but nothing happens.

    Hi Peter,
Are the clicks on "Allow" being ignored?  If so, you might be running into an iMac / ATI bug.  Please take a look at this FAQ to see if it helps you work around the problem.

Can I install the online version rather than using my dvd? it successfully installed (up to a point) that way, it just wont accept my serial number for some reason. my dvd isnt working properly.

If it gets far enough to reject your serial number, it won't help to download it. It must have installed ok.
What is the message you get (DON'T tell us the serial number!!)?
Does it mention a "qualifying product" by any chance?

  • Can I install my time machine back up onto a properly formatted external hard drive?

I have a MacBook Pro with a 750GB harddrive, with 500+ Gb of data on it.  Just before I traverse to Europe, I did a TimeMachine back up.
I now want to give my Mac to a friend, and buy a AirMac when I get home.  Even if I get the one with the largest drive it will not hold the full 500+'back up.
I have an 8 year old Mac Book pro at home as well.  It will be a few months before I can buy the new AirMac. So my question is ....
Can I install my current backup on a properly formatted external hard drive, and will it then run like a computer --until I get my new AirMac?
Thanks for your help (and please don't be too tough on me for what may see to de a dumb question)

The Time Machine backup is not bootable
You will have to install Leopard first

How did you copy files to the external drive, and what files did you copy? Did you drag and drop in the Finder? Use a clone utility? What files did not successfully copy?
If you reformatted the drive as part of your install, then you won't be able to recover any files from the drive. Reverting back to (reinstalling) 10.4 will not help you.
Do you have a complete-drive backup of your old system?

  • Pages not loading properly and can't install add ons

After installing the Firefox 29 on Windows 7, the mozilla's site and add-ons page do not load properly. Some problem as shown in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/992362 and tried all the steps but still doesn't work.

I've got exactly the same problem on both v 29 and 30. The thing is, my desktop computer is fine, my BRAND NEW laptop, stripped of ALL it's HP crapware and just using MSE, can display ANY webpage ok EXCEPT anything to do with Mozilla Firefox add-ons, AND the browser can't install any add-ons. I've tried all the usual banal "fixes", including switching off hardware acceleration, but all I get is plain-text for the pages as per sample, and no install of add-ons themselves. Again, note that this is ONLY a problem on the laptop, not on my desktop. They are both plugged into the same router (both through LAN / ethernet), and so therefore they should both work properly. I don't want to hear any stupid suggestions about formatting and re-loading. Just damn-well fix it, please! I've already wasted more than an hour of my very valuable time on this ridiculous problem. And yes, I've even uninstalled Flash 14 just in case (even though Flash 14 is on my desktop and not causing any problems - yet).

  • I cannot install, I have taken all the suggested steps, but it still keeps saying error, I need this to help with a college project and I cannot afford to buy anything new. Is there anything I can do to install it properly?

I have had Photoshop for several days now and for the few days I have tried I just can not install anything what-so-ever. I have taken all of the suggested steps and it didn't do anything to help, it still had some sort of error. I have contacted Adobe, but haven't heard anything.
I really need this Photoshop for a project that needs to be completed before February. I do not have time or money to buy or exchange for new one.
I really need help I just don't understand what is going wrong and I really need help!

I think i know what the problem is here.  You have downloaded the Apple MAC version and trying to install on a Windows system.  If this is so then you will get this error message.
Try to download the Windows version and then see if it works this time.  Windows and Apple MACS are two different types of operating systems.  Windows is widely used in the market place because of Microsoft's Marketing expertise while Apple MACs is used in the printing industry.

  • Power Mac G4 (Dig Audio) Can't install OS 9.2.1

I'm having an issue with trying to install OS 9.2.1 on a PM G4. I boot from the CD, but when I get to the actual install phase, it stops and gives me a general error. The Disc itself is clean and I know it works (used it on my iMac G3). I'm using a freshly formatted HD.
I just had to replace the logic board battery, I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Is 9.2.1 even able to be installed on this mac? I also try OSX 10.3, but I get a broken folder icon. Hardware test says everything's peachy, but nada.
Strange thing, when I first boot to the OS9 CD, it tells me that there's a problem with the CPU. Does anyone know of a test that I can run from say an external HD since it only has one DVD drive?

    Nicholas Chase wrote:
Well, I can't install any software since I can't get a stable OS9 environment. The thing barely boots at all. How would I go about making my own installer?
I haven't make an 9.x installer in so long, I've forgotten. Basically you want to clone it say to a disc image (add the bits you need), then burn the image. There are special tricks in 9.x because you have to make sure the cloned system folder is blessed. Hopefully other in this thread who know the details will step up to answer that part.
I emailed Sonnet about the problem, but I have yet to hear back. If they can tell me which processor I have in here (if the system profiler is even telling me useful info about the cpu) I can get the right firmware update an it. Just buy the description I'm fairly sure that http://www.sonnettech.com/support/downloads/processorupgradecards.html#encorefir mware is the one that I need.
We'll with a DA, it's definately the "Encore" series, and not the Encore ZIF line (which are for the B/W and G4 PCI graphics). The page I linked earlier:
    http://www.sonnettech.com/support/techtips/encorest.html
problem one mentions some software needed to get proper reporting of the CPU speed.
Problem is I can't find the mentioned "Metronome" utility. My guess is that it's included in the "Crescendo/Encore Processor Upgrade Software". That's not a firmware update, looks like OS level support software.
If you can't get a stable Mac, do NOT try to upgrade the firmware of the CPU. That's asking for trouble; you could end up in a worse position than you are now, e.g. a messed up upgrade.
Sonnet tech support is pretty good, I've dealt with them in the past.
There may be a sticker on the card that can help identify the card. Indeed it may help to know which exact model is in there and what it looks like. With recent Sonnet upgrades, the heatsink is already attached as a single unit -- that's typically a good think since you don't have to worry about the heatsink/chip interface (thermal paste, etc). There was a time with some Sonnet's where you would reuse the existing heatsink; I'm not sure if those were ever available for the DA but raises issues of whether thermal paste/grease was properly applied.
For the moment do NOT attempt to remove the heatsink, you've gotta be sure which model you have before moving on.
Mind take a look at the following page to see if any of the current models look like what you have inside?
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/processorupgradecards/index.html
I'm still pretty new to macs, but if the course of futzing with this one I've learned quite a bit. Still not enough to make an installer.
Just a question, but where did you get this Mac? Did you know ahead of time that it had a CPU upgrade in it? This sort of thing can matter, which unfortunately you found out.
I've done a lot of upgrading (incl. CPUs) and tinkering of a G3, DA, and MDD G4s. So some of the issues that can arise I still have somewhere in my brain -- I'll see what I can do to help you through this. Whenever I've done CPU upgrades, I've always kept the original CPUs just in case. In fact my DA 733 still works because I kept the original parts; the upgrade I stopped working at the end of last year. The seller of the Mac didn't happen to give you the original parts?

I can't install or uninstall iTunes on my laptop.  I've followed all the steps on Apple Support as well as Microsoft support.  I get the error "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Pick an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi".  This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I'm very frustrated.  From what I can see, I'm not the only one with this problem, but I have yet to see anyone post a solution that works.  Microsoft wants to charge me $99 to troubleshoot it for me and Apple will charge $20.  I think both are ridiculous as this is obviously not "operator error".

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
