Can't install printer MP980

Hi
I've just reinstalled Windows 8.1 on my Acer laptop and wanted to install the printer on it.
I've downloaded the "MP980 series Mini Master Setup (Windows 8.1 x64/8 x64/7 x64/Vista64)" and the "MP980 series MP Driver Ver. 1.03 (Windows 8.1 x64/8 x64/7 x64/Vista x64)", but I can install neither of them. Whenever I try to install them, the error message
"Printer driver is currently in use. If you are not using the printer driver, it may be used by other users on this computer. Exit all applications and printer properties and then try again. If you still have a problem, restart the computer and then try again."
I did exit all applications and restarted the computer, but nothing helped; the same error message appeared every time.
I have connected the printer once before to the laptop, right after I reinstalled Windows 8.1, but I haven't had installed the driver back then.
I've read somewhere, that this might be the problem to the error message, but I restarted the computer after the connection a couple of times.
The Control Panel doesn't show anything installed related to printers or Canon, neither does the search in Program Files and Program Files (x86).

Truth be told very rarely do you need to install these because of the amount of drivers that are already installed. If however you can't go directly to Samsung's web site this should do it if not try.

  • Can't install printer driver: HP Color LaserJet 2605dn drivers "not currently available from the Software Update server"

I was having trouble printing to my HP Color LaserJet 2605dn from a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion, so I went to System Prefernces -> Print & Scan deleted it and atempted to re-add it.  When I try add the printer I get this message:
Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?
After clicking Download & Install (the only option other than Cancel), I get this:
Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet 2605dn because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
What's the workaround when Mountain Lion can't find the driver?
    Thanks!

The 2605dn has dual Network and USB connectivity. Which are you attempting to configure: Network or attached USB?
Printer on, and if networked, use a static IP address
    Print & Scan
    IP
    Provide printer static IP address
Select Printer Software ... HP Color LaserJet 2605dn driver (not sure about that 2600 driver)
    Add
Configure Driver under Options and Supplies
I have a 1994 HP Laserjet 4m Plus set up using these steps and the appropriate driver. I just added another network printer, using the same IP address, but using the above 2605dn driver without any issue other than complaint about a redundant IP address.
Hopefully, you have already sorted this out.

  • Can't install Print Shop Version 2

I'm having problems installing Print Shop Version 2 for Mac. I am getting the errer message,
"There is not enough free space on Macintosh HD disk. The PS2 application requires about 1150 MB to be installed. Free some disk space and try again."
According to my HD, I have used 181 GB and still have 319 GB free. Can anyone assist? Thanks.

I found a solution courtesy of Mackiev, who did reply:
The fact is, the very first PowerPC-based discs of The Print Shop 2 cannot work on OS X Mavericks because the "Rosetta" mode that is required for their installer to run is no longer supported there. However, I'm happy to tell you that we have released a special updater for old PowerPC discs, which can be used together with those discs you have to install The Print Shop 2 on Macs with Mavericks. Please follow this direct link to download the updater:
    http://softwaremackiev.com/downloads/printshop2/ThePrintShop_v.2.0.11_UB_Updater .dmg
It's about 610 MB, so you'll need a good Internet connection.
Once the installer has fully downloaded, insert The Print Shop 2 Install CD in your Mac's CD drive and double-click the downloaded file if it doesn't open automatically. Then double-click The Print Shop 2 Updater icon and follow the onscreen instructions.
I followed these instructions and it installed just fine. The disc doesn't do anything, but is apparently necessary for the installation even though it's not recognised by Mavericks.

  • Can't install printer on Windows 8.1 with downloaded drivers

Strange problem. I cannot install a printer to a windows 8.1 tablet using either downloaded drivers specific to this printer or with universal drivers.  The printer installation hangs after I enter the port, and it hangs at "installing printer" Now if I use auto detect, it installs without a problem.  The problem with that is we have specific settings that need to be set that are not available with the native detected drivers. It acts like it will install, because if I refresh the screen on devices and printers, it shows.   If I then go to printer properties, in the case of the universal drivers, it will not find the printer.  It gives the universal drivers  printer search page. I have admin privledgesI am installing via remote desktop because they are at remote locations.I have the firewall disabled. Is there something I am missing? I did use pnputil -a *.inf

    Hey Andrade2691,
Please refer this kb file and try troubleshooting update installation issue for Windows 8:

  • How can I install printer without CD?

I hope this is the right forum. I just bought a PIXMA MG3570, which I will be using occasionally as a personal printer. The trouble is I'm currently forced to use an old HP dc7100 computer which does not have a CD-ROM drive installed. I have a few alternatives. I can wait to see if my new computer gets fixed (it currently suffers from a weird, intermittent, random graphics glitch). I have a working CD/DVD-ROM drive in an old computer which burned out its main board.; I could take that out and try to install it in the HP, but the HP has a Small Form Factor cast and I'm nervous about making modifications. I guess I could buy another computer, but that seems kind of extreme, since another new compuuter would cost at least five times as much as the printer and I don't have that kind of money lying around.
I found the Canon download page for the drivers, but there are thirty or forty files listed and I can't tell which ones I need. Can anyone tell me where I can find instructions?

  • Can't install printer driver for Epson Workforce 845 on Lion

I can't seem install the printer driver for the Epson Workforce 845 on my MacBookPro running OS 7.2.
I installed the software from Epson but the printer installer can't find it.

I just finished installing an Epson Workforce 545 on Lion.  This info is valid as of early March 2012. The trick seems to be this: DON'T install using the CD that comes with the printer.  DON'T download the driver from Epson.
First do an Apple Software Update to make sure the machine is up-to-date.  Then simply open the Printer & Scan preferences and add the Epson printer.  It will download the driver directly from Apple and you will be good to go.  If you do install the bad drivers from Epson, you have to remove the /Library/Printers/EPSON folder and also anything EPSON in the Cache folder, then start over.

  • Can not install printer driver

I purchased a Canon Pixma MG5350 and try to install the driver but this message appears on my screen: The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.
It is the latest one and there are no more updates on this driver. What should I do?

Thank you sberman for your answer. I have tried it but it doesn't work. I just deleted the plugin and everything that had to do with HP, emptied my trash and rebooted my mac and the driver was correctly installed, finally! Now I have another problem though. I can not add the printer to the laptop via System Preferences > Print & Scan and it does not even show in System Information > Usb that I am connected to the printer. The printer comes without a USB cable so I bought one yesterday and think that is the problem.

  • UNABLE or CAN NOT Install Printer, Windows 8 calls it a Kernel Mode Driver

    Very similar to
    this thread.
None of the provided solutions work.  I wish I could get a screenshot, but this is a computer I was working on for a friend and won't be back there for a couple of days.
    Things I have tried:
Download absolute latest Windows 8 x64 Driver from HP's website for the specific printer in question (hp laserjet pro color m251nw).  Tried both "driver only" and "full installation" downloads.
Told Windows to use a driver from Windows Update.
There is no Citrix based application to uninstall anywhere on the computer.
The computer is Windows 8 "standard" - so using GPEdit to Disable "Disallow installation of kernel-mode printer drivers" was not an option (although I did use a
3rd party GPEditor to try to modify this setting anyway, to no avail).
I used Advanced Startup to boot without Driver Signature Verification.
Disabled Anti-Virus software to ensure it wasn't preventing installation.
I ensured the local user on the computer had full permissions to the Devices and Printers menu.
I tried to install everything using "Right Click / Run as Administrator"
I tried to install using both Windows 7 and XP SP3 Compatibility Modes.
I have ensured there are no files in the Print Spools folder (C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers\). and reset the print spooler.
I am able to ping the network printer and it prints test pages, I do not believe there to be a problem with the printer itself, just some strange setting causing me all of these problems.
HELP!  I'm an IT Pro but I spent 3 hours on this and I'm not used to being utterly defeated!
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!!!!

What are the chances of it being a bogus message?  For that reason and others I would be running ProcMon to find, correlate and supplement any and all diagnostics which are being produced.  Filter with  Operation Is WriteFile.  You
need to infer which WriteFile  corresponds with which message but that is relatively easy because the Detail contains a close approximation to each message's length.  In any case, you get to see all the files that were involved and easy access to
    them.

  • Can't Install Printer: Canon MP610

I recently got a retina macbook pro (13 inch, 2014 version), and am having trouble connecting to my Canon MP610 printer. I have the printer connected to the laptop through USB. When I go to add a printer, the laptop detects the printer as "Canon MP 610 series." However, when I try to choose a driver there is no built in driver that is for this printer. Additionally, I went to the canon website ( http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_s eries/pixma_mp610#DriversAndSoftware) and it states " There is no driver for the OS version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."
The "Add" button is greyed out until I choose a driver, but there is no correct driver for me to select. Do you have any recommendations on how I could fix this?

    Enderx1x,
Follow the advice presented in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWnYeAniGUo ...it worked for me. Although the title suggests a Mavericks fix, I found it to be successful using Yosemite.

  • Remote printer is recognized but message says can't find printer?  It worked great before installing OSX Maverick

Remote printer is recognized but message says can't find printer?  It worked great before installing OSX Maverick?

    Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately I have already rebooted the router and that did not fix the problem. The weird thing is that the computer is connected to the network, it just won't connect to my computer. I have printed the network configuration page to confirm this, and it says the wireless signal is strong.
I have not changed anything at all recently in terms of routers, networks, etc. The printer stopped working completely randomly.
Is there a part in the printer that like emits a signal which computers, phones, etc are supposed to detect? I don't know enough about the mechanics to really theorize about what is wrong, but it seems like that is the only thing that stopped working.
Do you have any other suggestions?
