Can't install Reader 8.1.2 Microsoft vc80.crt Version Issue?
Hello!
My copy of Adobe reader happily downloaded an upgrade while I was online. When I went to install it there was an error, and the pop-up just said Adobe Reader 8.12 could not be installed. And then the dialog box stated that the install was finished.
In the process of this happening, my old version of Reader has vanished! So I downloaded the installer for 8.1.2 from Adobe and when I try to install it, I get the following message:
"Microsoft vc80.crt, version"8.0.50727.163", type="win32", PublicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",Processor Architecture="x86" Please see help and suppor. . ."
And then the install fails and the system does a revision back to its original state (which would have been nice on the automatic upgrade attempt BTW!).
First of all, it would be FANTASTIC is one could simply Copy/Paste such cryptic error messages, and also it would be nice if they actually told you something useful!
I have done a search on the above message, and all I came up with was a post on a forum that I think may have been in Danish with no answer to the original question.
Any help on this one?
My XP Pro system had been telling me it had adobe reader 8.1.1 downloaded and ready to install for quite awhile. I finally decided to go ahead and install it. So far as I could tell it was a normal installation.
Maybe a couple hours later my XP Pro system downloaded 8.1.2 and I decided to install that as well. It was a huge >30MB download. After preparing to install, verifying and attempting to remove some (prior?) application I get "Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Update failed to install." No clues are given as to why it failed. Any ideas?

I would suggest to contact apple support, request a Senior advisor they should be able to get that squared away, now if your not in phone support period you will probably have to pay for support.
I'd suggest the apple care if you havent got it yet -

I am trying to download the latest 10.0 itunes, however I keep getting this error message. I have a new iphone 4s so when I plugged it into the laptop it said i need to uninstall and reinstall the latest itunes.
I contacted support which they advised me to uninstall the itunes on my dell laptop, which I have done however I keep getting the same error message. Please can you advise on what best to do? The laptop is a 32bit windows 7.HRESULT: 0x800736FD.
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736fd, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?) -

Join the club. Luckily, after messing with it for 2 days, I was able to re-install 10.4.1. I'll probably wait until Apple issues a maintenance release with the "undocumented features" fixed.

Error occurred during install of assembly policy 8.0.microsoft.vc80.CRT
I've been trying to upgrade to itunes 9 on windows vista system. During the install, it says "error occurred during installation of assembly policy 8.0.microsoft.vc80.CRT, version 8.0.50727.403 type win 32 policy public key token=1fc8b3b901e18e3bprocess architecture=x86 Quicktime installs OK, but Itunes install is interruped -- Apple Support install portion is rolled back after this error pops up. I went thru suggested Apple troubleshooting options, got same error. Ran install as administrator from desktop, also did not work. Tried installing both thru apple software updater and directly from Apple website -- still get error. I asked about this on Microsoft site, they sent me back here. thanks for any solutions.
flabud, here are the next steps that I would suggest.
1) If you haven't done so already, reenable McAfee. I'm guessing that you've already done that though.
2) Create a manual restore point. You can also do this after each of the following steps if they are successful but you don't have to necessarily do it each time. One restore point at the beginning should suffice.
3) Disable Windows Defender so that it no longer has possible conflicts with McAfee. McAfee put out this notice earlier this year because the combination of those two programs were causing problems and that notice describes how to disable WD. You should also uncheck Windows Defender using MSConfig (Startup tab) after disabling it as described in the notice. One of my systems had the exact error message described in the notice and since disabling WD it has encountered no further problems.
4) Check Programs and Features in Control Panel for the following programs and install using the associated links if they do not show up. Restart after each installation and then check to make sure the install was successful in Control Panel.
a) Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
b) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (if MS .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 already exists then do not install this)
{I added this because I had problems with this install at the time of the McAfee/WD conflict}
5) Run Windows Update and install any Important or Recommended updates. The installation of the programs in step 4 should allow the others to complete successfully but if any still fail make a note of them as you did before.
6) If everything completes successfully to this point then reattempt the installation of iTunes using the file that you have in the Downloads folder.
I've written the steps in the order that they should be done so if you run into a snag in any step let us know before proceeding to the next step. -
Hi, can anyone help me because I've been trying to download the iTunes on my PC ( windows vista ) and everytime I am installing it its says --- An error occured during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type,="win32",version,="8.0.50727.6195...etc..Thank you.
it says that Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.
Okay. We've got a broken Windows Modules Installer on the PC, then.
It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
Windows Update error 8000FFFF
If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time? -

Run the installation on your sync pc... the installation application will run only on a pc, then, activesync installs it on your winmobile device on the next connect session.
