Can't install Robohelp 9. Stops at 37%.

Hi,
I’m trying to install RoboHelp 9 on a desktop PC with Windows XP sp3. The installation starts running but stops at 37%. The only item what’s updated is the remaining time. When the time is at 120 min. I have to kill the process.
I’ve tried to install on an DesktopPC with only WindowsXP with SP3 and the installation succeeded. But the installation has to be performed on a standard Desktop PC with Flashplayer, Shockwave, MsXML4.0 sp2 and so on.
Does anyone has a clue what could be the problem. I'm using administrator rights.
With regards,
ajamdeman

i made a dual boot of windows 7 and mac os x lion in my macbook pro .i installed m icrosoft support software also. now, can i install windows updates? do i turn on the automatic updating of updates? does hot fix of microsoft i.e, " support.microsoft.com/kb/979491" helps in stop freezing in dual boot mechanism?

Windows has a software updater built into Windows and when you install the Boot Camp drivers then it will install an Apple software updater also. I believe Windows is set to automatically download and install your updates as does the Apple software Updater. They both will update the individual files it needs to periodically.
"Microsoft updates" and "Windows updates" are basically the same thing in Windows. Are you talking about the "Windows support software" when downloading from Boot Camp Assistant? Apple installs a software updater for it's Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7 so you can do it manually or automatically.
The "Hot Fix" your referring to is only for certain motherboards built from other Windows only computer manufacturers and does NOT pertain to any Apple computers.
If you have a problem with your computer then it's best to ask a specific question so we can help better.

  • Installed RoboHelp 11 for trial and it overwrote Acrobat 9 pro with broken version of Acrobat 11 which I can't uninstall.

The subject says it all. I installed Robohelp 11 to try it. Without my permission, the installation nuked my perfectly functional Acrobat 9.0 Pro and replaced it with a completely broken of Acrobat 11, which I neither wanted nor needed. I went to control panel to get rid of it so I could re-install Acrobat 9 Pro, and Acrobat 11 doesn't even appear as an application that can be uninstalled. Yes, the installation is that broken. So now I can't work with PDFs at all. I am more than happy to uninstall the trial of Robohelp to get back Acrobat, but I'm not even sure that will fix the issue since the installation program seems so squirrely. Anyone else had this problem. If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned in my post, when I went to Control Panel to uninstall Acrobat 11.0, it wasn't listed among currently installed apps. However, after going back and looking through the Installed On dates in Control Panel, I realized that for some reason, it's called Adobe PFD Creation Add-on XI, rather than Acrobat 11.0. Interestingly, the program folder name in Windows Explorer still uses Acrobat 11.0.
Fortunately for me, I always have disc versions of my software. So I was able to re-install Acrobat 9.0 once I got rid of Adobe PDF Creation Add-on XI. I really wish that Adobe made clearer what extras they are installing with these trial versions :-(
    Thanks again.

  • Can't install iTunes 9 on Vista. iPod services have stopped?

I can't installed iTunes 9 on my Windows Vista PC. When I try to install, the installation process gets to about 95% complete, then an error pops up saying "Serice 'iPod Sevice' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the service". I also get a Windows System error that says "iPod service module (64-bit) stopped working and was closed". I can't install iTunes 9 and can't find any answers. And yes, I'm installing iTunes as the system Admin. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

My problem is with Vista, but slightly different to the above.
I bought a new Vista PC yesterday and was able to download iTunes 8 to it.
I'm also still using my old XP PC until I get the Vista one properly set up. Last night I ran all iTunes/iPhone/iPod Touch updates successfully on the XP machine.
Today I am updating the Vista PC. Safari and Quick Time have downloaded.
iTunes itself reaches 98.7 of 98.8 verified and then fails.
The error message I am getting is ""The windows installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance"
I have no idea what that means, does any Vista user know what the Windows Installer Service is and how I sort this out?
There is a pop appearing occasionally about setting up 'winlock' - I have no idea what that is (need to google to find out) so have ignored that until I understand what it is.
I've tried both running direct from the download and saving to my PC but still the same error message. Odd that the program installed yesterday but the updated version will not do so today.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • TS3212 The install of itunes stops at Publishing Product Information. Can anyone tell me why?

When I try to install itunes. it stops at Publishing Product Information and then I get an error code.  What can I do to fix this?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Can't install patches 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 for robohelp 8

I installed Robohelp 8 on an XP workstation and now trying to install (update) patches 8.0.1 and 8.0.2. No errors, they just don't install. Has somebody else encountered this issue?

I asked as I have seen discrepancies but that looks OK.
Has the machine been rebooted since installing RoboHelp?
Is this a first time install of RoboHelp? If not I wonder if there is something old in the registry causing a problem. You could try uninstalling with RevoUninstaller and then reinstalling. Use the Advanced setting in RevoUninstaller but only if you are happy using such programs, otherwise involve IT.
I don't know what else to suggest apart from contacting Tech Support as an installation issue.

  • Robohelp 9 stops responding every 20 minutes

    Hello,
My company recently upgraded from RoboHelp X3 to RoboHelp 9. On one writer's machine, RoboHelp is crashing every 20 minutes or so. Here are the specs:
    Windows 7
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50 Ghz
    4 GB RAM
    64-bit operating system
232 GB hard drive with 176 GB of free space
The project the writer is working on has been upgraded from an X3 project with the old .mpj file extension. Microsoft's Event Log reports that the file shortcut.oxc is causing RoboHelp to stop interacting with Windows. Here's a screenshot from the MS Windows Action Center.
FWIW, another writer on an XP machine is not running into any crashing issues. Both writers are working on local copies of the same upgraded project.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
just to update the new patch 9.0.1 does not have anything which could cause this crash if properly installed. Please go ahead and update RoboHelp on the XP machine (it will confirm if this is creating an issue).
One info needed here is that were you guys using the .chm output and if yes are you having HTML Help controls in the project (these are the one which uses the shortcut.ocx file) so this can be the issue so try to remove them in a copy of the project and see if it helps.
Can you please share the crash dump of RoboHelp when it crashes in Win 7 (In Win 7 on any application crash you can open the Task manager and RightClick on the process which crashed and created Dump File) and mail it to me  - [email protected]
One more thing that can be tried is to install RoboHelp on any other Win 7 64 bit machine and see if it is not a machine specific issue.
    Hope this helps
    Ashish

I am trying to download iTunes on my new desktop computer (Windows 7, 64 bit).  It starts installing, and then stops with the message- "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." This is a stand alone computer and I am the sole user.   Please help.

This is a Microsoft Windows Issue.
    From a MS Support Engineer:
    "Hi,
    ·        Is the computer on a domain?
    ·        Is the issue isolated to only this software or you get the same error message with other software’s as well?
Try the steps below and check if it helps.
    Step 1:
Run the software setup file as an administrator and check if it helps.
    a. Right click on the setup file of the software that you are trying to install.
    b. Select “Run as administrator”.
    Step 2:
Temporarily disable the antivirus software running on the computer and check if you are able to install the software.
    Disable antivirus software
    Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
    Step 3:
    a. Click Start, type "Local Security Policy" (without quotes) and press enter.
    b. Click on Software Restriction Policies.
    c. In the right pane, double click on the "enforcement".
    d. Select “All users except local administrators”.
    e. Click Ok and restart the computer and check if the issue is fixed."

  • How can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements Update 9.0.3 after I get a message that Installation has failed and the solution is not in troubleshooting or forums?

My Photoshop Elements 9 stopped working a couple of weeks ago. When I clicked the PSE button nothing happened. I tried this several times over a few days and it still failed. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it. It worked well. Then I tried to install the Update 9.0.3. The download was almost successful. When it was about to show 100% successful for the download, an error message said the installation had failed and that I should try later. I tried this many times over a few days and the same result occurred. I tried troubleshooting and the answers to questions, but I could not find an answer. I don't know where to go to see if anybody has answered my question. How can I install Update 9.0.3?

  • Can I install both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 on the same version of VMWare 5?

Even though I am running Apple OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 on my new 2013 iMac, I have just installed VMWare's "Fusion 5" so I can have Windows 7 installed on the "Fusion 5, for limited usage needs.
I also would like to have a running version of Snow Leopard available to run my large collection of original Lynda.com training DVD's and CD's ... which unfortunately, now only allow the Lynda.com GUI player to operate in (and up to) Snow Leopard (at least this is what the Tech folks at Lynda.com have told me).
Since Lynda.com is no longer producing any or their training programs on CD or DVD any longer, and because they have stopped supporting their training programs to run on Lion and above, I will have to have a version of Snow Leopard installed to run these training programs, and still be able to run them using the Lynda.com GUI player.
    So here's my dilemma:
    1.  Can I install both a version of Snow Leopard OS on my "VMWare "Fusion 5" .... along with a running version of Windows 7 on       the same "Fusion 5"?
    2.  Do I install only the Windows 7 on the VMWare, and find some other "device" to run a version of Snow Leopard off of?
    3.  Do I consider using "BootCamp", in conjunction with "Fusion 5", to get access to both Snow Leopard and Windows 7?
Has anyone had any experience installing BOTH a previous (older) version of Apple OSX  ... AND ... a Windows OS version on one installed version of VMWare "Fusion"?
    OR
Any suggestions on how to set up having access to both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 .... while keeping OS Mountain Lion as my main OS?

    mende1
Thanks ... the "You have to purchase Snow Leopard Server" I knew about, and a few days ago I just ordered a copy from the Apple Store:
    Snow Leopard Server - Ordered at: 1-800-692-7753 ... OR ... 1-866-254-8313
I asked for Apple Snow Leopard Server (Model MC588Z/A (SLSVR)
    "Unlimited Client License"
It was around $25.50 (USD) with sales tax and shipping (NYS).
One thing though ... when you mention:  "you should make two virtual machines".
Not being too familiar with "Fusion 5" yet, Is setting up "two machine" all done under one installed version of "Fusion 5"?
Would you have "links" to any "Fusion 5" installation instructions/info for setting up the
"two machines" (one for Snow Leopard and one for Windows 7)?

  • Power Mac G4 (Dig Audio) Can't install OS 9.2.1

I'm having an issue with trying to install OS 9.2.1 on a PM G4. I boot from the CD, but when I get to the actual install phase, it stops and gives me a general error. The Disc itself is clean and I know it works (used it on my iMac G3). I'm using a freshly formatted HD.
I just had to replace the logic board battery, I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Is 9.2.1 even able to be installed on this mac? I also try OSX 10.3, but I get a broken folder icon. Hardware test says everything's peachy, but nada.
Strange thing, when I first boot to the OS9 CD, it tells me that there's a problem with the CPU. Does anyone know of a test that I can run from say an external HD since it only has one DVD drive?

    Nicholas Chase wrote:
Well, I can't install any software since I can't get a stable OS9 environment. The thing barely boots at all. How would I go about making my own installer?
I haven't make an 9.x installer in so long, I've forgotten. Basically you want to clone it say to a disc image (add the bits you need), then burn the image. There are special tricks in 9.x because you have to make sure the cloned system folder is blessed. Hopefully other in this thread who know the details will step up to answer that part.
I emailed Sonnet about the problem, but I have yet to hear back. If they can tell me which processor I have in here (if the system profiler is even telling me useful info about the cpu) I can get the right firmware update an it. Just buy the description I'm fairly sure that http://www.sonnettech.com/support/downloads/processorupgradecards.html#encorefir mware is the one that I need.
We'll with a DA, it's definately the "Encore" series, and not the Encore ZIF line (which are for the B/W and G4 PCI graphics). The page I linked earlier:
    http://www.sonnettech.com/support/techtips/encorest.html
problem one mentions some software needed to get proper reporting of the CPU speed.
Problem is I can't find the mentioned "Metronome" utility. My guess is that it's included in the "Crescendo/Encore Processor Upgrade Software". That's not a firmware update, looks like OS level support software.
If you can't get a stable Mac, do NOT try to upgrade the firmware of the CPU. That's asking for trouble; you could end up in a worse position than you are now, e.g. a messed up upgrade.
Sonnet tech support is pretty good, I've dealt with them in the past.
There may be a sticker on the card that can help identify the card. Indeed it may help to know which exact model is in there and what it looks like. With recent Sonnet upgrades, the heatsink is already attached as a single unit -- that's typically a good think since you don't have to worry about the heatsink/chip interface (thermal paste, etc). There was a time with some Sonnet's where you would reuse the existing heatsink; I'm not sure if those were ever available for the DA but raises issues of whether thermal paste/grease was properly applied.
For the moment do NOT attempt to remove the heatsink, you've gotta be sure which model you have before moving on.
Mind take a look at the following page to see if any of the current models look like what you have inside?
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/processorupgradecards/index.html
I'm still pretty new to macs, but if the course of futzing with this one I've learned quite a bit. Still not enough to make an installer.
Just a question, but where did you get this Mac? Did you know ahead of time that it had a CPU upgrade in it? This sort of thing can matter, which unfortunately you found out.
I've done a lot of upgrading (incl. CPUs) and tinkering of a G3, DA, and MDD G4s. So some of the issues that can arise I still have somewhere in my brain -- I'll see what I can do to help you through this. Whenever I've done CPU upgrades, I've always kept the original CPUs just in case. In fact my DA 733 still works because I kept the original parts; the upgrade I stopped working at the end of last year. The seller of the Mac didn't happen to give you the original parts?
