Can't install Security Update 2012-003 for Leopard

I can't install neither Security Update 2012-003 nor Flashback Removal Update. The installer says the software cannot be installed on my machine. I am on a G5 (PPC) iMac running OSX 10.5.8. What's going wrong? By the way, automatic software update did not find any updates for me. I had to download the updates manually from Apple's software support page.

There is no update or removal tool for PPC machines because Flashback won't run or even install on them.
You should still disable Java in your browsers as some other malware may come along that will work.

I just discovered a Leopard Security Update 2012-003 in reading an article in MacWorld, but when I checked my computer, I found that I did not get it through Software Updates' check for updates. Is there something wrong with my Software Updates? Or is just that this must be manually downloaded by the user? My iMac is an Intel Mac.

Could you have SWUPD set to automattically get updates?
Check Library>Reciepts at root of the drive, nit your user Library, & see if it's been installed.
Also, if this is a PPC iMac it only was for Intel iMacs, since PPCs weren't able to get that FlashBack infection for one thing.
If Intel, you coild always get it directly & re-apply it...

Looks like Apple did the same thing with Lion that Microsoft did with Vista. Brought it on the market before it was ready.
I run a MacBook Pro and upgrading to Lion caused me two days of trouble and computer crash. Router settings removed and router blocked. Dongle not recognised, you name it.
In the end, I gave up and using my Snow Leopard installation disk and a Time Machine Backup finally got my computer up and running again. Thanks to Lion, I think I'll stay with OS X 10.6.8 at least it's reliable.

HT1338 Unable to install security Update 2012-004

I am unable to update my Mac (OS X Version 10.6.8) with the latest security update 2012-004 despite numerous attempts and even visitng the store and trying to install manually, HELP !
I can check for software updates that are available and click on the install & restart option but when the computer reboots an new software update check produces the exact same results. The software clearly isn't upadating. I initially had 2 updates - the other being Java for Mac OS X 10.6 update 11. After fiddling around for ages I managed to get this update installed by going to the downloads page and installing directly. However, I have had no sucess with the Security update. The last Security update installed was 2012-002. I have tried to find and install Security Update 2012-3 without sucess.

Try reinstalling the Snow Leopard combo update (again). If it has already been done it won't hurt to do it again on top of the existing one.

HT1222 My internet speed has slowed to a crawl after installing security update 2015-003. Any ideas on how to fix?

I recently installed security update 2015-003 and now my internet connectivity have slowed to a crawl. sometimes if I turn wi-fi off and then back on the speed returns to normal but sometimes it does not. Since downloading Security Update 2012, Word for Mac 2004 is no longer able to Save or Save As documents. After clicking Save or Save As, the program ceases to respond and must be Force Quit. Any tips on making Word functional again?

There was a second Security Update (v1.1). Did you download that one. It was supposed to have fixed the problems created by the prior update. At least is solved my problems with Quicken 2007 for Mac and AppleWorks 6.

Applications crashing after installing security update 2010-003

Hi all, anyone else having this problem (and found a solution)? After installing security update 2010-003 on snow 10.6.3, entourage, firefox, and even itunes are crashing at launch. Safari seems stable, but haven't tried other apps yet. Verified permissions on my boot disk and repaired it but the problem persists. It started after rebooting after installing the security update. I'll reinstall the OS if needed but hoping this is a bug someone has solved. Thanks!

If you're not using Software Update (in the Apple menu), use that.
If you are using SU and getting that message, try going to http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and downloading it, then install it.

So, for whatever reason, it seems my last post didn't stick. So, here it is again.
I repaired the permissions several times. I thought that after the first time, there would be no more permissions that needed to be 'repaired'. Perhaps it doesn't work that way. After repairing permissions about 5x, I tried it again, but got the same result as before. I also verified permissions - no change. I took a screenshot of the last permissions that I repaired. Maybe it will help...
Is there anything else you'd recommend?

Can't Install Security Update 2007-009 With Software Update

I tried to install Security Update 2007-009 on a 10.5.1 G4 system, but the installation fails with an "unknown error". Here are the details:
1) Software Update downloads the file and ask to Restart
2) Get to the blue screen
3) See these messages "Preparing target volume" and "Configuring installation"
4) Get this error message:
The update "Security Update 2007-009" can't be installed.
The installer encountered an unknown error that failed the install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
5) Restart
I then deleted the "Security Update 2007-009" folder from Library->Updates and tried the update again, but got the same error.
Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it?

And 2007-009 installation complete without a hitch. I have no idea what is going on with the permissions (any recommendations) but I have not found any other problems since this update was installed.

Can't Install security update?

Recently I downloaded a security update in 10.8.5. entitled: Security Update 2012-4 1.0. but after the Mac Pro restarts and tempts to install the update it gives me an error and says it failed to install the security update. The mac then restarts and the security update is still there under my updates section in the App Store.
I have tried twice and both times failed.
Does anyone perhaps know what could be causing this and can it be resolved?
Any assistance would be appreciated?

I've got the same problem.
Macbook pro end 2012. mtLion 10.8.5
Tried to install them via the app store. No luck. Tried the links you posted, still no luck. They install all the way, untill 5 seconds are left, than the message appears. The worst is that it says 'an unknown error occurred'. If I remember well, I got the number '103' as well when I install via the app store.
I also had a similar problem installing iTunes, but the solution to that was, to delete some files from a folder somewhere on macintosh HD. (Don't recall which one)
I thought maybe the program 'Undercover' from Orbicle is causing the problem. It's this program which runs on the background and helps you find your mac after it's stolen. It's just a thought, though...
Any suggestions?
