Can't install Sound Blaster live 5.1 on Windows XP machine

Hi,
I've been using?Sound Blaster Li've! Platinum 5. on my pc running Win ME for years. I've just formatted the PC and installed Windows XP Professional on it and now when I try to install Sound Blaster from the original installation CD, I get the error "Sound blaster li've 5. is incompatible with this version of windows". It still allows me to install but then I get all sorts of errors when playing back audio files etc.
I've now?re-installed XP but obviously can't use Sound Blaster and I would really like to!
I'm a musician and not?technically minded?at all so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Abrie

>Re: Can't install Sound Blaster li've 5. on Windows XP machine: Hi Abrie,
Is your sound card was preinstalled or was it come in a retail box?
If it is a retail version then you get the driver and applications (Win XP Professional 64 bit) from the below link.

Please copy the entire tag (entire 2 lines)?above and paste it in the web browser and hit entre.
Please let me know whether it works fine or not.

  • BA7500G + Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit + Windows 2k = no sound

Similar to the thread for Win XP, I have inherited a BA7500g speaker system, and purchased a new Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit card for my Win2k system. Cannot get the speakers to work, although the speaker test works from the BA control unit. Noticed the digital audio input cable is color coded, and I don't have the original card that matches this scheme. Could this be the problem?

I have installed a new (not used) Soundblaster Audigy SE and BA7500G speakers and I'm running XP Pro. I'm getting no sound even when I change to Digital Out only? Not sure what to do? Is this sound card not compatible with my speakers? Do I need to purchase the Digital I/O Module that Creative is currently not in stock? I can find the Digital I/O module on Ebay if need be but not sure that's the solution. Please help!

  • Can't install sound blaster wow headset driver for tap chat use

?I get an error I-00 when installing. I google it, this is the install.log file:?
<div class="message-format"><div class="rplol">Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headset]
    GUID={0429B343-D023-4524-89BC-0478E0D9E3C3}?
    Error=I-00 Bitmaps not found.
So wtf do I do now? I can't figure out how to install it, and the keys bound to tapchat right now are left ctrl + delete (which basically does ctrl + alt + del for windows 7)?

CIf you have winrar, winace, or 7-zip, or winzip on your system, right click the WOW driver executable you downloaded and extract it to a folder where you can easily find it. Once the file and its contents are unpacked, open that folder and run setup.exe.

  • Tried to install Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 but won't wor

    Hi,
I tried to install a Li've! 5. card i recently bought, and the guy from the store told me i wouldn't need a CD-ROM because XP auto-installs it.
So i opened my pc, and plugged the sound blaster into a free motherboard slot.
When i try to startup, it just won't work, and when it does, XP simply says no sound card was found..
    What did i do wrong?
I know nothing at all about computers, so don't ask me any specs; i only know my computer runs on XP..
    Thanks for the help!!
    ps.
I only use a windows for flightsimming, and since i'm a member of a virtual airline, i have to do at least flight per month, or i lose my membership and my saved flight hours.. So i need a solution as fast as possible.. Thanks!

  • Can't remove Sound Blaster Live! software from Control Pa

Hi,My Sound Blaster Li've 5. digial card isn't being recognised by my system and seems to be faulty. I tried removing the software but when I click on the Sound Blaster Li've! in the control panel nothing happens. I still have the Creative folder in my programs. I run Windows XP SP2. I have tried also under Safe Mode with the same result. Is there a Creative Software cleaner/uninstaller program (that doesn't look for the card first)?

    Let's make this easy.
First download and install Driver Cleaner Pro; http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Driver-Cleaner-Professional.shtml
Then clean out all creative and creative lite drivers then delete any folder in your system that has the name creative on it (usually find these with a quick File or Folders search in the start menu. Then download and install Crap Cleaner; http://ccleaner.com/, go a head and clean out files and do scan of the registry with ccleaner and remove unneeded reg stuff. Now reboot. One more thing, if you still see the "Device Control" icon in the control panel you must remove it's corresponding .cpl file in the "\windows%base%\system32\" folder.

    Taino,
You may need to cleansweep and then try to reinstall the card. There is a chance that there are still files remaining from the original install that are preventing the detection of the card. Here are instructions on how to cleansweep:

  • Problems with Sound Blaster Live! 1024 and Windows 2000 Profession

Hello everybody, and thank you since now for your help and support.
Please, forgive my english (I'm italian) not so good, but I hope you can understand me the same.
I have a Sound Blaster Li've! 024, and so far everything works fine with <EM>Windows 98 SE</EM>, but lately I have installed <EM>Windows 2000 Professional </EM>on my PC, and now nothing works.
Nothing, neither the softwares, they don't even start!
Here is what I tried so far:
    - First, I tried to install the old version of the programs, the ones that I had in the CD-ROM when I bought the sound card. At this point, I couldn't even uninstall the softwares!
    - Then, I tried to update the drivers, but it seems that they're already updated when you install Win2000, and the uninstallation didn't works yet.
    - At last, I have downloaded the new software pack, Li'veDrvUni-Pack.exe, but nothing even so. But with this, at least, I was able to uninstall everything from the PC (even if not perfectly).
    - Today, I tried to install only the new pack, Li'veDrvUni-Pack.exe, but still nothing works. When I start running the program (e.g. AudioHQ), I can see the hourglass for few seconds and then everything aborts.
Please, help me! What can I do? I really don't want to buy a new sound card, even because my SB Li've! 024 works perfectly until now.
Thank you very much for the attention and for your suggestions.

  • Can not find Sound BLaster Live 24-

i put in the card and it dont come up and say that it has found new hardware... i tried installing with the CD it said not found please make sure hardware is installed properly .... what do i do

    Hi,
    Can you please check:
    1. Is this a retail or OEM card? OEM cards (usually came pre-installed with your computer) may not work with drivers from the download site.
    2. The sound card is not being detected by your computer at all. Please go to Device Manager and find out the status of the sound card.

  • Sound blaster live with live drive XP install h

Does anyone know how I can get my sound blaster li've platinium with li've dri've setup to work under XP? I have tried almost everything, ran the updated which I downloaded from this site and nothing. The li've dri've unit gets no sound out of the headphone port, not even a hiss. I can get sound if I connect directly to the ports on the card, but that defeats the purpose. Under 98 this thing rocked, but it has never worked under XP.
    Thanks in advance....

Provided you installed the card and it's up and running, it should work. Double-check the internal connections to make sure nothing's come loose. There should be a flat cable going from the soundcard to the dri've, and a small (floppy type) power connector going to the dri've.
Remove the little cover on the optical output to check for power, if the light shines there then there should be power going to the dri've.

  • Sound Blaster Live 5.1 - SF1 damaged.

    houk
Yesterday I've found on my SBLi've5. that subassembly signed as SF (near MID/Gameport) is corrupted (looks like burned out).. Is this little one correspond with using an eventual midi keyboard od game controller? What kind of component is that? Resistor? Or something else? If this thing is important for communication through MIDI/Gameport, and if yes - could it be repaired by changing invalid component?

Take a look at the following thread:http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=994?That is the best you can get. Did you run WindowsUpdate to get the drivers installed? If you did, just change the speaker setup to?4 speakers, then check and uncheck the?Digital Output Only checkbox to get sound back.

  • Sbl-soundfonts: soundfont midi lib for sound blaster live

Something I needed for midi tests of my sound blaster live card.
The first soundfont file was suggested as the best general soundfont library available for free (8MB). The second is from my sb live install cd (4MB). If you only want the first one remove second source file and second md5sum. You will need asfxload from awesfx package (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=77155) to load the library.

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

How to produce 5.1 sound with logitech z5500 running on iMac 10.5.8 with sound blaster live 24 bit external.

First off your operating system version is obsolete and not being updated for security issues from Apple.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
So at least you need to upgrade to 10.6.8, and that will make your machine secure again.
However if you decide to upgrade further to 10.7 or 10.8, be forewarned your PPC based software of old is not going to work any longer. and your machine may require more RAM.
Check here to see and download the free MacTracker to see your machines true RAM potential and specs. There are videos online at YouTube, it's really easy to install yourself.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
I checked out the z-5500, apprantly the optical out shouldn't be a problem, however the surround sound decoding is a problem as the Mac doesn't do it, just passes it through for decoding on a receiver via the optical out port if your Mac has one.
Use the free MacTracker to find out or when you upgrade OS X, there is a option in the System Preferences > Sound.
    https://logitech-en-ap.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9693/section/trouble shoot/crid/409/lt_product_id/224/tabs/1,3,2,4,5/cl/sg,en
The Sound Blaster Live 24 bit doesn't do Dolby 5.1 according to Wikipedia. More info on it is here.
    http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&prodID=10702&pr odName=Live!%2024-bit%20External&CatName=Sound+Blaster
If it's able to accept optical toslink cable from the Mac's toslink stereo mini port (if it has optical output) and then send that to the z-5500 via the analog speakers, then you should be fine.
I'm afraid you'll have to do some more digging to get it to work.
The only surround sound your going to get is by playing DVD movies that have it, then it can't have Dolby 5.1 as the Live 24 bit can't decode it.
So do your research on what surround sound formats the Live 24 can decode, then compare your DVD collection for those movies that have it, then get it all connected and enable it on the movie preferences at the menu.
    Good Luck
