Can't install the application from Application DVD

Early 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch
I reinstalled my Macbook Pro and it was all fine. but when I tried to reinstall the application with the Applications Install Disc that came with my Macbook Pro,
it just failed. I can't reinstall it. So I can't have the iLife back on my laptop.
Please help.

Have a look here for some hints:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/Unable-to-boot-linux-from-USB-drive/m-p/1069715
I managed to boot from USB with full UEFI on, secure boot off.
Have a look also in the UEFI/BIOS menu under USB that BIOS support is enabled.

Disk 2 of the original disks that came with the computer?
Call Apple, give them your computer serial number, and they will ship you disks for a small charge if disks are available. Go to the Apple Store for your country, then to the bottom of the page//Contact Us for the correct telephone number.
If that isn't what you ant, can you provide more information?

  • How can I install OSX Tiger from a DVD if my iBook G3 600mhz only has a CD?

I just purchased this iBook for my wife as a starter laptop for her as I love Macs and iBooks and I know she will be better off with one than the HP laptop she has. It is in pristine condition. The only problem is that the iBook is loaded with OS X 10.1.4 which is outdated and needs an upgrade. I found my old Tiger DVD and wanted to upgrade but the iBook only has a CD drive. I do not have an external DVD drive or such. What can I do? Can I copy the info off of the DVD onto a Pen Drive? Any suggestions? Please help. Thank you so much!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you want to run Mac OS X 10.4, you need to upgrade the iBook's RAM. Mac OS X 10.4 requires a minimum of 256 MB of RAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1514?viewlocale=en_US
Although a 128 MB module would get the iBook up to the minimum required by Mac OS X 10.4, I strongly recommend that you maximize the RAM with a 512 MB RAM module. It takes a 144-pin, 3.3 V, PC100 or PC133 compliant, 1.25 inch SDRAM SO-DIMM.
Instructions for adding the RAM can be found in this Apple Knowledge Base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=111918
Once you get the RAM upgraded, you can attach the iBook G3 to your iBook G4 with a FireWire cable and use the iBook G4's optical drive to upgrade the iBook G3 with Mac OS X 10.4 (assuming that you have the full retail DVD, and not an upgrade DVD or one that came with another Mac).
Instructions for doing that can be found in these two articles:
    http://www.oreillynet.com/mac/blog/2005/05/thecats_mustachesinstalling.html
    http://lowendmac.com/misc/06/0710.html
    Good luck!

  • I get an error message when trying to install the applications dvd after restoring my MBPro to factory; What can I do?

It goes through all the steps but on the last one for installation, I get an error message saying it failed to install, try again (roughly).

This issue can be caused by an extension or plugin that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • I can't install the Application Server 8: ERROR - default domain creation

I am using Windows XP SP2 Spanish Version and I am trying to install Application Server 8. In fact, I installed with no problems first time. But then I had problems to start up the App server. I uninstalled the APP server and installed again and I got the following log with an error:
INFO - number of merged jar entries: 2675
INFO - number of merged jar entries: 1426
INFO - number of merged jar entries: 2459
INFO - number of merged jar entries: 1169
INFO - Start core server configuration.
ERROR - default domain creation returned following exception: abnormal subprocess termination: Detailed Message:La sintaxis del comando no es correcta.
(in english is something like "syntax error")
La sintaxis del comando no es correcta.
INFO - End core server configuration.

Can you please run the following command and see if that works (assuming you installed application server in default C:\Sun\AppServer directory) --
    C:\Sun\AppServer\bin\asadmin create-domain adminuser admin adminpassword adminadmin --adminport 4848 domain1
If it does not work, can you please post the error message and its english translation?
Installer tries to execute the command that I listed above (obviously with the values you specified on the installer screens) and the error message seems to be suggesting that there is a syntax error in C:\Sun\AppServer\bin\asadmin.bat.

HOLD ON GUYS THE PROBLEME IS MINOR AND THE SOLUTION SIMPLE, THE G585 WIN8 IS NOT THAT BAD AFTER U READ THIS OR GO DIRECTLY TO THE LENOVO SUPPORT LINK BELOW AND APPLY THE FIX..
I had the same problem with my new G585, I couldn't get any windows 8 upgrades done by undoing and reversing to pre-upgrade state right after reboot which made my system unstable and very slow to use and windows8 very buggy, it was very frustrating but I didn't give up and kept trying to upgrade with no success to the point I started to think that either something was wrong with my unit even though I had it for less than 2 weeks since I bought it from best buy or Lenovo effed up this time with this sluggish configuration and that I have to add RAM and see if its any better b4 returning it to them for servicing.. well IT TURNS OUT YES LENO EFFED UP BUT NOT WITH THE CONFIGURATION BUT WITH SOME BLOATWEAR CALLED NITRO PDF THAT WILL NOT LET U UPGRADE WINDOWS8 AND SPESIFECLY THE UPGRADE PART OF NITRO PDF FROM TRIAL VERSION TO FULL VERSION CALLED NITRO PDF PRO 7 OR SOME SH** LIKE THAT, THE GOOD PART IS NITRO IS OFFERING A DOWNLOAD FIX U CAN DO WHEN YOU USE THE BLOATHWEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME OR BETTER YET BY DELETING THAT APP AFTER THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO UPGRADE YOUR WINDOWS8 OS AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED BY HOW MANY UPGRADES YOU WILL GO THRU BUT YOUR SYSTEME WILL START RUNNING FASTER AND SMOOTHER FROM THE FEW FIRST UPGRADE. LET ME KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT WITH YOU.

  • I can't install the drivers from AppleMultiTouchTrackPadInstaller64 on WIndows 8.1 (Bootcamp dualboot)

When I try to install "AppleMultiTouchTrackPadInstaller64.exe" (Apple Multitouch (09/04/2013 5.0.20) and Apple Multitouch Mouse (09/11/2012 4.0.3.0)) on Windows 8.1 I get an install failed. As a result of this, I can't use right click (does not even work with a two finger click) or scrolling.
Note: I have a macbook pro retina 15 inch from late 2013. I used Bootcamp to install windows 8.1

@BobTheFisherman: "After installing Windows run the support software you downloaded and saved to your usb thumb drive. The support software contains the correct drivers for your computer's hardware including the trackpad etc." Have you even read the question details? I already tried to install to drivers support software from "\BootCamp\Drivers\" I even tried to download the latest drivers from the Apple website: Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621
But I get the "Install failed" error.
@Loner T: They don't have seem to have a different driver for Windows 8.1 See the description "Windows Support Software (Windows Drivers) you need to support 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 on your Mac."

  • I can not install Mac OS from installer DVD?

I want to do a clean install of Snow Leopard and upgrade to Lion and none of my DVD's will complete a full install.  Installer DVDs from 10.5 even have this problem.  The installer process starts but when the computer restarts, the computer stops at the gray apple logo.  This happens for all the installer DVDs that I have.  I have a 2009 MacBook Pro.  I have tried installing from an external dvd player.  I have even tried copying the installer DVD to a flash drive, hard drive and dvd copy.  All my media is in perfect condition.  So it is not an internal DVD problem.  Does anyone know if this might be a motherboard problem?  Has any one else had this problem?

Apple Hardware Test (holding down D during startup) also fails

  • [HELP] I can't install the bootcamp drivers on my mac.

    Hello people.
I have a problem and i wish if you could help me with.
    I have an iMac Early-2009 ( 2.66ghz C2D / 4GB 1333mhz RAM / GeForce 9400 256mb ) with Mountain Lion 10.8.4
The problem is that, i can't install the drivers from the bootcamp app ( the one from the bootcamp itself app, where you need a USB to download it)
i've already partitioned the HDD, and installed succesfully a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
But there's one little issue, when i try install the drivers i downloaded before on my USB, it says that "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model".
BUT, what? i've installed correctly the Windows 7 64bit on the iMac.
I can't install anything, but only graphics driver. ( manually)
I searched in every forum trying to resolve my problem, i've read that you can install it from de DVD with Snow Leopard that came with the computer
but that disk is broken; it's annoying because it seems that is the only solution , with that resulting on a dead end.
I could install my NVIDIA drivers, using the ones from bootcamp drivers, BUT USING THE WIN_32 version because the WIN_64 was unsupported by my machine. ok, i could install the drivers and was the 263.03 i think.
Now i want to upgrade to my lastest drivers ( 320.14 WQHL ) and says that can't detect my gpu. but the old driver that came with recognized it with no problems. I tried also auto detect GPU, and the same drivers but no result.
Anyway, the main problem is that is "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model". with a Windows 7 64bit copy installed on the bootcamp partition. this is ******* me off
I sucessfully installed on my Macbook Pro Late 2008 ( C2D 2.06ghz / 8 GB RAM / 9600m GT ) and everything fine, a Windows 7 64bit. installed the drivers and everything fine, even accepted the lastest drivers (320.14 WQHL) from nvidia. but that was on Mountain Lion 10.8
but since 10.8.3 only lets you install only 64bit, i can't search for a copy of win32bit and install it because, it's going to be the same problem anyways.
So if you could help me out with this *** problem.

I have an iMac (24-inch, Early 2008) — iMac8,1 and I have exactly the same issue.  Now, I'm running Mavericks, unfortunately.
On the one hand, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986, I see:
"Do all Intel-based Macs support Windows 7?
All Intel-based Macs support Windows 7 using Boot Camp 3.1 or later except these:
    iMac (17-inch, Early 2006)
    iMac (17-inch, Late 2006)
    iMac (20-inch, Early 2006)
    iMac (20-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2006)
    MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2006)
Mac Pro (Mid 2006, Intel Xeon Dual-core 2.66GHz or 3GHz)"
    So, I should be good.
However, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634, my iMac is not supported in Boot Camp requirements, which would have been nice to know before I purchased a copy of Windows 7.  I cannot get the Windows drivers to download from Boot Camp, and when I download them manually, whether version 4 or 5, I get the "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" message, which makes the HT3986 information unhelpful.  I even tried a Snow Leopard CD while in Windows, and it gave me the same message.  I tried one of the 3.x Bootcamp files, and still no good.
The funny thing is, I ran Bootcamp to create the partition for Windows 7, and it even popped up a message stating that Windows 7 was the latest Windows I could install on that machine, and the installation went fine.  However, I am missing who knows what drivers, etc, because Apple won't provide the Windows support software for a machine that evidently can run the software.  The graphics drivers appear to be fine, as the aspect ratio corrected itself, something that didn't happen on my MBP without having the Windows Bootcamp software.  I also have wi-fi, which is better than some experience.
I even cannot get the little Boot Camp Windows icon/software that should be accessible in the system tray, so I can set preferred system to boot in, tell it to boot into OS X, etc.  So, for that, I would have to rely on rebooting while holding down the ALT key, and my non-Apple keyboard for some reason won't do that (but that's another subject).
I guess there is nothing to do other than just do everything manually, piece by piece, unless someone has a solution that is eluding me.

  • After a clean install of the original OS 10.6.4 on my old MacBook Pro, I'm not able to install iLife with the application DVD. Anybody can help?

My old MacBook Pro 13" 2011 (2.4 Ghz, Intel core duo, 10Gb RAM, 250Mb HD) was running on Lion 10.7 (upgraded last Spring from the original Snow Leopard). As I got a new laptop just a week ago, I was trying to restore the old one to the original factory settings and resell it.
After unsuccessfully trying to restore Lion with the remote apple server and after going through several messages here in the community, I was finally able to re install the original Snow Leopard system from the Mac Os X install DVD that came with the computer. I did that booting the laptop from the DVD, going to disc Utility, making the partition GUID formatted Mac Os Journal extended, and then installing the system. The hard drive had been erased previously.
It all seemed to work well; I had intended to shut down and leave the option to the future owner to configure the computer and perform the additional installs. But to double check that everything was ok, I decided to go ahead instead, and install the applications that were on a separate DVD (AHT Version 3A192, Disc Version 2.0), like iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, etc.  Unfortunately, as soon as the installer would begin to work, after clicking on the agreement and all the preliminary steps, it would quit with an error. I tried several times.
Does anybody have a clue of what happened and how I can fix it? I hope you can help me! Thank you!

  • I am unable to open Photo on my MacBook Pro after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get says "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!

I am unable to open iPhoto on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.3)  after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get is "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall it.This time delete the receipts first.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
    Important:
As you're on 10.9.3 you'll need to update iPhoto to v9.5 before opening it. Use Software update.
