I have a Titanium Powerbook G4. When I tried to revert to 10.4.9 from 10.4.10, I got the 10.4.9 installation message: "This volume does not meet (minimum) specifications for this install".
I had v10.4.9 on this machine before !

i have a quad 2.5 ppc g5 and i bought it with all the apps already loaded. fcp, c4d, cs4 etc. i dont have serials or discs for apps. i want to buy mac pro quad from ebay...can i install my ppc hd into the new mac pro?

The drive will work in a Mac Pro, but it won't be bootable. It might be possible to copy the applications, but they may not work. They may be PPC only versions that would have to run in slower emulation mode, if they work at all. They may not be compatible with the version of OSX on the Mac Pro. Applications with serial numbers often need new serial numbers if used on a different computer. You could use Migration Assistant (Utilities folder) to move your accounts and data, but it may have problems with older apps.
I bought it with all the apps already loaded. FCP, C4D, CS4 etc. I don't have serials or discs for apps.
Then you don't have legitimate copies of the apps. If the previous owner kept the discs and serial numbers, the applications should have been deleted before sale. You should buy current versions of the applications you need. They will work better on a Mac Pro than the older versions (if they would worj at all).

I have new hardware that came with windows 7 pre-installed. It meets and exceeds hardware requirements. Can i install Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on this machine. What is the procedure? Any help would be grateful.

I agree with Milos on this; if you want to install Windows Server 2012 Essentials on a machine which suppose to use Windows 7, I would use it solely for test purposes.
Could you tell us what the computer specifications are???
For anything more serious (and I can see that you want to use this machine for accounting software), I would suggest purchasing a server machine.

Can't install on Apple Partition Map (PPC)

I have a powerbook G4, everytime I try to install, I get the error message:
+You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. To enable installation on this volume open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and repartition this disk as ‘GUID Partition Table’.+
But as I understand it, a ppc mac can't boot from GUID, so why is it asking me to do this?
on googling I came across this guide ( _http://northstarlabs.net/2007/11/04/leopard-firewire-target-mode-os-install/_ ) which sounds exactly like what I need, but I know little about using the terminal.
Am I doing something wrong?
Or Does anyone know any other ways to bypass the partition check?

There is part of your problem, when you put the macbook in target mode and then try to load from the mac mini, it uses the information from the mini to try the install. Here is what you need to do
Insert Leopard disk (Actual Leopard disk, not restore disk for mac mini) in the Mini, shut it down and then restart the Mini in target mode.
With the macbook off, and the Mini in target mode connect them together with Firewire cable. Start Macbook and immediately after chime press and hold alt/option key. This should bring up disk selection menu. Find the Leopard install disk, select it and click on the straight arrow. Leopard installation should start. Make sure when you get to the point of which harddrive to install to, Pick the macbooks harddrive (Since the mini is in target mode its harddisk will also show up in the list)
If you are unsuccessful with that method, there have been some known issues with the Leopard installation disk and you will need to contact Apple to get it replaced.

CS4 Master suite; can I install non intel applications on PPC G5?

Hi, I would like to install the CS4 Master suite on both my Intel G5, but also, if possible, Photoshop and Indesign onto my old PPC G5 too. I know the Master suite is specified as Intel only, but does anyone know if it is still possible to install the UB applications it contains?

before purchasing. And Adobe
does have a clear link to system requirements for each app on its pages.

That link takes you to: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/systemreqs where the very first bullet-point is "Multicore Intel® processor"
And the specs do not say, "Also runs on PowerPC G5 computers" because some of the included apps don't. The minimum system requirements to run
all included apps includes the multicore Intel Mac.

I also had it connected to a 300 watt Panasonic surround sound reciever via the digital out to the recievers "coax in" for my DVD/ Gaming and it worked great. Then?my Panasonic finally took a dump!?So.....time to buy a upgraded surround system! Yeah! So I bought a 000 watt LG 5. system and it sounds GREAT, when played from the LG receiver! Unfortunatley the only digital in it has is a optical TosLINK. So I figure after looking at the Creative SB website it's tme to buy a Digital I/O module and I'll be good to go.......WRONG!?My I/O module gets here, I plug it into the digital out on my SB Audigy 2 card and a BIG NOTHING! So since I was using the Windows XP drivers with my SB sound card I figure if I intall the Audigy 2 software maybe the software will have a digital output fix, so I do a system restore point prior to installing the SB software (figuring just in case of emergency I can roll? my system back)and then I installed the SB Audigy 2 software. Again a big NOT! So after more research it looks like it is not compatable! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!So time for a sound card upgrade with Digital I/O module compatability, hence I now?own the?SB Fatalty Professional card as of yesterday. So before I?install the new card I set about removing all the old SB software.So I'm cool TILL?I try to remove the SB Audigy 2 software! [color="#ff3300">BAM! I installed FF 4 and now the excellent Maxa Cookie Manager software won't work. Can I install and older version of FF over FF4? I could just uninstall 4.0 and re-install 3.* but I don't want to loose all my bookmarks.

Maxa Cookie Manager software no longer records cookies since I installed FF4. So what will happen if I install FF 3.* over FF4?

I have an iMac from 2009 that originally ran 10.6.2. I updated to 10.9, but now I have the 'white screen of death'. I can't repair any disks in Disk Utility. Would installing 10.6.2 (from the CD) be ok to do? Would there be any issues?

It can't be done without erasing the partition which has Mac OS X 10.9 installed; repartitioning a drive which has a damaged directory structure may not be allowed or may make the issue worse.

From the information supplied, I'd guess that the machine has been loaded with OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). You need the 10.2 installation disc to reset the password.
It is not wise to buy any Mac without all the original installation discs, and any discs required for a later OS which may have been installed.
It won't boot from a USB stick or USB drive. It may be possible to boot from a firewire external drive running OS X 10.2 or later, or in firewire target mode from another OS X Mac. It won't boot from an external DVD drive.
That model originally shipped with OS9 and either OS X 10.0 or 10.1 (neither of which was worth installing).

Presumably this is the specification printed on the underside of the casing, in which case 6GB is the original HD size. The model did later ship with up to 40GB however, and it's certainly possible that it may have been replaced.
One caveat; some 6GB models could only be booted from a 6GB or smaller partition, so any upgrade would have to be partitioned accordingly.
If you get hold of a retail OS X disc 10.2 or later (but not 10.5), BSD is available from the installer as an optional installation (with the main OS). It's unlikely the previous owner would have installed it however.
Can't help you much further than that I'm afraid, but I'm sure there'll be another bus along in a minute

nope. Mac OS X only installs on Apple macs. (at least thats the legal aggreement between you and apple when you purchaced OS X Lion)

The scanner i have is a Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB (connection) 1200 Pro, the system requirements are .mac OSX / available USB port/ cd-rom drive / colour monitor / 32mb of ram / 32mb available hard disk space for software installation. As far as the driver goes i have spoken to the support team at Mustek and they said that the only drivers for mac they have at present can be found here -

the problem is that the drivers are only available for the Op systems that are a whole number i.e.. v10.2/ v10.3/ v10.4 / v10.5 , and with me having v10.3.9 installed at on my ibook i can't seem to get hold of a working driver.
as i say all i use the ibook for is storing image files and have everything on the comp backed up on CD's
i brought a copy of v10.2 purely because it was the cheapest operating system i could find

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but is still available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A and M9639Z/A . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray).

Reminder - Per the OS license agreement, you can only install a system on one Mac. If you have two Macs, you need two installers, unless you buy a family pack with 5 licenses.

How can I install OS X v10.9?

Updated my MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012 from OS X 10.8.5 (12F45) to 10.9., but it didn't update.(it showed that there is an update, I clicked on it, said yes to a restart and the version was still the old one after the restart). re-started it already twice,but the update search shows that there are no updates available,can't install new versions of pages,etc.
