Can't install V9 - I've tried everything!!!

Really need some sound advice. I have tried to upgrade my iTunes to 9.0.3. I am using Windows 7. At the same point during the install I get a dialogue stating "could not access network location". I have tried many solutions including a complete uninstall using Revo and the "Fix It" solution script from Microsoft. I have tried to roll back to a previous restore point but when I try to run the app, I am told that there are files missing and I need to re-install the app!! I am at a dead end. Could someone please throw some light on this before i throw my PC out of the window?!! Thanks

That message about not being able to access a network location usually responds to using the Microsoft Installer clean up utility. I am not clear if that is what you have done, so here is a full method:
== uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)

Save the files on your PC.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.

Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP

*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

If this doesn't work, post back with full details of any error message and exactly what your were able to do and details of any bits that failed.

    I have a SoundBlaster Li've 5. Digital card. Model # SB0220. I lost the install CD, but I was able to download a copy of the install CD. I recently wiped my dri've because I was getting hit up with adware and stuff (It was that time anyway). And now I can't my SBLi've drivers installed. When I try and run setup from the CD, it just says I don't have an SBLi've sound card. However, Windows does detect it. I've tried everything and it's just not working. No drivers from the web work. Creatives auto update doesn't work (Cant find the card). Is there anything else I can do? I'm going crazy...

    I have what I believe is the cure for the card detection problem. Anytime I post it, the post is usually ignored and the responses to the problem continue to be to move the card to another slot, make sure your card is a retail version otherwise contact your OEM distributer for a replacement cd, etc. Nobody seems to want to try my solution, although it has worked for me everytime I've encountered the problem. I hope this helps you.
    Okay. So, the Creative installer tells you to install a SoundBlaster audio hardware or go away. What to do?
    If you've got the install cd, locate CTZAPP.EXE in the Audio\English\Drivers folder. If you've got the Uni-Pack download, extract the file with WinZip or WinRar and locate the CTZAPP.EXE file in the drivers folder. Run it. If it's one of the newer ones that have the check box for "replace, overwrite any previously installed Creative drivers and software," then check that box and answer yes to confirm when asked. Reboot when prompted by the CTZAPP program.
    Upon reboot and Windows is loading, you may get an error message about regrun not found. If you don't, great, but it hasn't negati'vely effected my installations either way. Once Windows is completely loaded, restart the computer again. This is important!
    You may now run either the cd or the Uni-Pack setup program and it will magically not have the detection problem. If you're running the cd setup, uncheck Windows Drivers but install the rest. After the reboot, locate the 4MB Soundfont file in the Audio\Common folder on the cd and copy it to your Windows\System32 folder. You'll then be able to load it into both Soundfont Banks with the Soundfont Manager. If you're running the Uni-Pack download, then install all of it including the Windows Drivers. This way you'll get the 4MB Soundfont to install from its hidden compressed cab within the Uni-Pack. Upon reboot, however, you'll find that Windows Device Manager will only show three of the many driver files that should be there. Simply either run CTZAPP.EXE to reinstall the WDM driver over itself or use the Device Manager's Update Driver button and choose the Have Disk button to point Windows to the previously extracted Uni-Pack driver file. Cd users won't have this problem since they are choosing not to install Windows Drivers during the setup process.
    This has worked for me with several different Li've! cards and on 98, Me, XP. The only problem might be if you get the error when using the older driver series for Li'veware 3.0 (98 users who want the VXD's for the dos support). I couldn't locate a CTZAPP for those drivers, and simply installing the drivers using Windows hardware detection works, but the Li'veware installer still thinks you don't have a SoundBlaster hardware installed. So, you get the drivers but no software. That's a rare problem though. It's mostly the newer installers that have this bug.
    And, it is a bug. This happens whether you have a boxed retail card that the software is designed for or an OEM. It doesn't matter. Usually, a fresh install of Windows on a formatted hard dri've will solve it, but I think you'll agree that my way is nicer! The problem has happened almost every time if I've ever uninstalled the Li've! software or drivers. Run the installer, and it won't detect the card properly. Weird.

    I have tried everything in fixing this problem. I have searched online with no help. And Google does not fix everything.
    I have tried calling the phone number on the help site numerous times only to be uselessly helped once. I was on hold for a long time with each one only to be unsuccessful in fixing my problem.
    I tried submitting the form on the page when you sign in and 3 times so far I was told to go to this extremely unhelpful devnet, which was all the phone support told me to do which was no help, and they closed all of the support requests.
    Does anyone know how to fix these errors:

    I have converted it to a zip and went through all the files and did not see any error. The only one I did was MobileSettings.xml, which is blank and a new CS5 made file is blank and gives the error as well.

    you may have a corrupt fla.  try creating a new directory that has no subdirectories.  move that fla to the new directory.  try and open the fla from the new directory.  if it fails, you have a corrupt fla and, in that situation, i believe the best you can do is to take your last working swf and decompile it to create a working fla.

    This just happened a day ago. It was when Windows failed to update. When I plugged my phone to the laptop, there seemed to be a pop-up box appearing in iTunes saying, "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" At first only the album artworks of the songs were not copied. I tried uninstalling and re-installing it using the instructions from here: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support. But still, it did not work. That's why I though t that maybe because Windows wasn't able to update that's why syncing keeps on crashing.
    However, after that failed update yesterday, I was able to update Windows 8.1 today. After that, I tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes. I cleared up everything even the contents from the library to start anew. After that, I tried syncing it with my phone hoping that it would finally sync. Unfortunately, that evil pop-up window appeared again.
    I really don't know what to do about it. I've been using iTunes for how many years already and I have never experienced crashing.
    And about that solution, well Windows haven't notified me yet. And I doubt if they will.
    I really hope that someone out here could help me solve this problem. I've been stressing out about this the whole day. It's just so hard because there are a lot of files that I lost, especially music. </3

    @ Alibaba2k2   Thank you for trying to help me.  I have the solution to this problem should anyone need to know what to do if you can't get your email hotmail on your I phone.   If you change your password on your laptop, and try to enter the new one in your I phone 5s, Apple has installed a security measure to protect your phone and account.  Unfortunately, they are not forthcoming about giving the solution to this problem that has been going on since 2010, or 2012.  If anyone needs the solution, please let me know.

  • Unable to install Adobe CS6, have tried everything

    I have been trying to install Adobe CS6 Master on a fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit with updates running on a Dell OptiPlex 7010. I think I have gone through every scenario possible and cannot get it to install.
    Keep getting the: "Installer failed to Initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."
    Grabbed the Support Advisor, and it told me there was a Windows Update bootstrapper issue. I know I wasn't running any win updates because I tried the CS install after a restart but it must have been doing something in the background to cause that error.
    Followed the solution link that the Support Advisor gave. It told me to get the Cleaner Tool. Tried that and removed all, restarted. Still getting the Installer failed to initialize.
    Took the same discs to two other Windows 7 machines (barebones hardware) and they both successfully initialized.
    I took the hammer to the Dell: reformatted the hd, reinstalled Windows 7 and did not do any updates at all. Put the CS6 disc in and "Installer failed to Initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."
    Downloaded the Support Advisor and it couldn’t detect any issues.
    Any ideas to what is going on and how I can install this sucker?

  • Apple Support Not Installing on Computer, Ive tried everything to my knowlegde, it keeps rolling back changes. Ive completely deleted itunes, bonjour, and even the folders in my C://Program (86x) folders in regular program folders. Even ran ccleaner

    Any other methods? Like I said Ive tried all that i can. Even removed some windows updates, programs, and still not working. sometimes itunes wont install but thats got to do with my msi installer. Ive done the "run msiexec /unreg then msiexec /regserve" then close explorer.exe and reopen as administrative to install. Itunes would install but when I plug up phone nothing. Went to device manager it doesnt even show Unknown device but I still reinstalled Device manager with the system command. even tried to install older versions of itunes but for some reason I cant install versions lower than 10. Rebooted computer and device with fresh install and nothing. At one point it even showed "Trust Computer" but didnt do anything. I have an Iphone 4S that even stop working. So now I can't use that either. Any Idea whats going on ANY one?

    Are you using a Windows machine? We are mostly Mac users here - there is a forum for Windows software on Macs, so you could try that forum or iTunes for Windows forum which might be your best bet:

    K8N Master 2 FAR (original bios)
    2 X Opteron 246
    1 x 1gb DIMM Legend ECC REG DDR 400
    Enermax liberty 600watt
    2 Hitachi deskstar 8mb cache sata 120gb
    Tried graphics cards
    7600gs PCI-E
    7200 PCI-E
    Now the issue I am having is the nvidia vga driver installer crashing. The screen flickers a few times (normal) then goes black for approx 2 minutes until a BSOD. Upon rebooting windows loads until a blank screen with cursor and then back to the BSOD. Booting into safe mode and removing the drivers allows windows to boot correctly but whatever I do I cant get the drivers to go!!!!
    I have tried fresh installs of XP pro (sp1, sp2, sp3 beta) as well as server 2003 enterprise. I have also tried the two different vga cards along with three different driver releases. I have also tried both PCI-E slots. I have also tried installing under safe mode, same BSOD. If I had a PCI-E ATI card it would be a valuable diagnostic tool but unfortunately I do not so; have to try and eliminate the problem without it.
    The weirdest part of the issue is that when the system was last used approx 8 months ago (I have been overseas) things were fine. Same exact hardware.... Any suggestion for things to try will be greatly appreciated because although a couple of years old now this is still a hell of a good system and I am most certainly not ready to give up on it.
    I am downloading the latest mobo bios now and will update this post with my results. I am however not hopeful the the bios is the answer.

    Thanks for the advise Bas. I had in fact tried memtest. Another thing I forgot to mention.
    Anyhow I downloaded the latest nforce and forceware drivers last night and this morning (dial-up) and updated the BIOS (using the very handy thumb drive tool from these forums) to 1.42. Did a clean TinyXP SP2 install, installed the drivers and... no prob's at all. I'm not sure if it was the BIOS (I doubt it), the new nforce or the new forceware version but something worked. Its happily been running a simultaneous sisoft sandra and 3dmark 07 loop (crawling obviously but I wanted max stress) for the whole of the afternoon while Ive been out sailing with no prob's at all.
    All I can say is thanks and see ya' round. I'm planning on modding' some large passive P4 coolers to fit the board; I know its going to be a job and a half but as I'm running a passive vid' card and whisper quiet power supply )dual rail Enermax... none of the common prob's associated thankfully) and drives I figure its worth it. I have the better (it would seem) revision of the board with the identical copper coolers (not the funky mismatched pair) and had considered new fans (70>80mm adapters included) but figure I may as well got the whole hog. Out of interest is there a forum post/site anyone knows of where people have submitted there results with various coolers?
    I will post results here to help others anyhow when I have achieved something worth sharing.

    I found a workaround for the problem of not being able to run executables from the Temp folder.
    I happened upon the Full Firefox installer download page. I downloaded the full installer and used WinRar to extract the downloaded file to a folder then I could run setup.exe and Firefox installed successfully.
    Please publish the link to the full Firefox installer on the same page where the stub installer is published.

    It wont switch off or keep loading. I switched it off from the itunes, on, off, on, and back again. The load bar ?(the one under the apple sign when your ipod is switched off and loading) is not even half way through loaded. Is there a special button to reset the ipod? I honestly care If i lose all info. I just want it on!!!

    If it is currently off, you can put it in recovery mode then do a restore, then restrore from backup. I have a history with...kinda...messing with my iPod Touch so I had bricked it a lot. You can put it in recovery mode by:
    Having your USB charger connected to the computer already
    iPod off
    Now you hold down the iPod home button, keep the iPod off though.
    Now, while you are still holding the button, plug it into the computer.
    Keep holding on to the button until a screen with a USB cable and an iTunes logo show up.
    Now open your iTunes on the computer and do a restore.
    Honestly, this is my last stand, I hope this helps!
