Can't install WIn 7 on my new MBP

I just bought new 15" i7 MBP, and tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate (OEM). I use Boot Camp Assistance to create a partition for 32GB, and start Windows Setup. After I pressed Install Now button, I found an error message that the system cannot find CD/DVD media driver. How can I solve it?

I'm probably asking a very obvious question, but are you running Boot Camp Assistant directly from the hard disk or one of the DVD's that came with your MBP?
If you're running BCA from the hard disk, I'll speculate that maybe your new MBP i7 has a new/different model of DVD drive than the one(s) Boot Camp Assistant is expecting to find.
Go to About This Mac, More Info, Disc Burning, and view the description of your DVD drive.
If the DVD drive is a new model and isn't supported by Boot Camp Assistant yet, you might have to wait for a 10.6.4 update to fix it.

  • Can't install Win 8.1 x64 on MBP - "can't update boot configuration"

I just upgraded my MBP's hard drive to a 1TB SSD and installed Yosemite as a new computer - not from back up. I wanted to BootCamp Windows 8.1 64 bit on about 250 GB of the SSD but I keep getting the error, "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed".
    This is what I tried:
    On a separate windows computer-
Used Rufus 2.1 to create a bootable usb from the extracted ISO of a Retail Windows 8.1 64 bit disc
Set to GPT Partition Scheme for UEFI Computer
         Set to FAT32 File System
    On the MBP-
Using disk utility, created 250GB of free space on the SSD
Restarted the MBP, booted into the bootable usb
    Typed in product key etc.
Clicked "new" on the windows setup which created 2 more partitions in the empty space
         drive0 Partition: 4 MBR Reserved
         drive0 Partition: 5 Primary
    Clicked to format disk05
The installation continued up until it "finishing up" and then popped the error message, "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed".
I previously tried using BootCamp but kept getting the error - the space is in MBR and must be of GPT in for Windows to install.
    Machine: mid2010 15" MBP/2.4GHz/8GB RAM/1 TB SSD (Samsung 850 EVO) /Yosemite
Can anyone help with this issue?

Turned out it was a problem with PRAM. I reset the PRAM (holding Command + Option + P + R) after "Windows could not update the boot configuration". And ran the install disc once more and it worked!
    Hope this helps somebody.

I did work around the problem with XP on LIon this way:
    My macbookpro is a 8,2
Bacup Lion disk with Carbon Copy Cloner
Boot on an old OSX backup or other MBP with older OSX " I used 10.5"
    Format internal disk
Clone Old OSX you are running in to Internal HDD
Restart and boot on internal disk
Run boot camp and install Win Xp
Reboot on new Bacup from Lion
Clone lion disk to the internal disk.
Then you have Lion and XP on the same Macbook Pro
But new problems came. I cant find XP drivers to the MacBookPro 8,2

There is no option on bios for SATA support or IDE
    please help me

    Hey buddy
You will not find any SATA or IDE settings in the BIOS. The problem is that you have not installed the SATA driver which is necessary to install the XP on this notebook.
The key is Intel Matrix Storage Manger!
The Storage Manager has to be included into the Windows XP OS during the setup procedure using the button F6.
At the other hand you could include the Storage Manger using the free application called nLite.
Search a little bit in this forum. There are enough threads and postings regarding this theme.

    Hi Bussada,
No, you dont have to uninstall Creative cloud from the other machine. You can use your Adobe ID to download and install the software on the other machine. Please ensure that you don't use both machine at the same time.
Download creative cloud desktop app from this link.

Are you trying to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7? I get exactly the same problem. I'm going to try the 32bit version and see how I get on. I don't think 64 bit is supported just yet.

  • Why I can not install the iTunes to my new 64bit laptop??? I have never had this kind of problem before on my 32 bit old laptop...

I would like to get a help... I can not install the iTunes to my new (64bit) laptop... Why??? The installation stops somewhere after a few minute, looks like trying to install but can not go through until the end. I had my old (32bit) laptop and i have never had any problem with the installations... My new laptop is Asus (64bit), and the operating system just upgraded from Win8 to Win8.1....

    Hello rafaelfromweymouth
Start with the first article and clear out any files in the Temp folder. You may need to remove iTunes and its related software and finally make sure that you have the 64-bit version of iTunes downloaded to install.

I can't install Rosetta Stone onto my new Mac OSX (version 10.7.5)
    Any suggestions?
The message says "can't open application because Power PC applications are no longer supported."
    Thanks!

Thank you... spoke to Rosetta Stone and they said the same thing, and the give a nice discount when upgrading.
Normally 5 levels of a language run about $479.  When upgrading, you can get the same 5 levels for $199.
    Fewer levels costs even less.
