Can't install Windows 7 with Bootcamp

i  can´t  select  last option, not active, and i can´t go forward. pls help me!

What year/model is this Mac? If you select the first and second option, can you create the USB with a Windows ISO and BC drivers?
Unless you have a valid BC partition on your disk, the last option will not work.
Please post the output from Terminal of the following commands.
diskutil list
diskutil cs list
sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

  • Trying to install Windows with Bootcamp

Hello. First, I do know this has been a recurrent trouble for a lot of Mac user who have tried to install Windows using Bootcamp. Believe me, I've looked it up both here in the Apple Communities and in saint Google. My situation is, however, that I have replaced my optical drive with a SSD, and now my optical drive works externally, via USB. Everytime I try to install Windows in a dedicated partition in the SSD, it just stays forever in a blank screen with blinking cursor.
Apple's troubleshot won't work for me, and I'm beginning to think that the issue has more to do with the optical drive itself. I tried:
To install Windows on the HDD instead of SSD.
To unplug every USB (even mouse), except for the optical drive with Windows 7.
To install it via USB stick (creating a bootable .iso with Disk Utility). In this case the usb stick does not even appear when holding option key.
To try another Windows 7 version (32/64 bits).
I have even read it might be because of a bad installation of the RAM memory... this makes no sense?!
If anyone has encountered this same situation, I'd appreciate some help. Hope I can get this done, because Steam's Age Of Empires won't ever work in OS X :S
Thank you all for reading and helping!

If your Mac was originally configured with a built-in Optical drive, and it was later replaced, Bootcamp knows your original configuration and will not work properly in the modified configuration, because it uses your Mac's model string (found in About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Hardware) for example, MacbookPro 11,3. The only supported method to install Windows is to restore the original HW configuration and install it and then move hardware around.

  • Can't install windows on bootcamp partition

Hi, I got a problem hehe. When I use bootcamp to creat a partition, the windows installation does not reconize the partition. The only parition I can install on is a "patition1" with 131Go... But my hard drive is a 250Go and the parition I created is 32Go so I dont know where they took this 131Go.
Anyway I found that when I creat a big parition... suppose 100Go the Windows installation reconize it. A 100go parition is in NTFS and a 32Go one is in FAT32.
So the question is: How to creat a 32Go NTFS partition with OS X.5.1 or any way to install windows XP on my macbook.
    Thanks, Pascal.

Are you sure your XP is a full install and SP2?

  • Need help installing windows with bootcamp on late 2012 iMac

i just recieved my 27" imac a couple weeks ago ands i would like to install windows so i can get some gaming done on this imac. can anyone send me a link to a step by step guide on how to install it using a 8GB memeory stick since i dont have an optical drive.....i have already watched the youtube videos on using bootcamp but they all seem to be for older macs with an optical drive
    thanks in advance

Be advised...  This will not work on the 3TB drives without a bit of hacking.

  • Can't install vista with bootcamp

    I have a 20" iMac with OS 10.6.2
Before Snow Leopard came out I partitioned my drive to 32 GB and installed Windows Vista. I need more space on my Windows partition so I deleted the partition today and re-partitioned it to 60 GB or so. I inserted my Vista cd and started the installation but once the computer shut down and re-started I never made it to the install screen. It was stuck on a black screen with an underscore "_" then it extended to a long one "__" . After that nothing happened and as expected I wanted to throw the machine at the wall. I went back and re-partitioned it again back at 32 GB to see if I could get anything to happen. Instead of an underscore showing I now had "M76XT B22504 MXM GDDR3 256M 680e/750m" popping up on the screen. I tried restarting using option to get to the boot screen. I ejected the disk and reinserted it and tried booting again from the windows disk but it did nothing. So here I am asking you guys if you know anything that I don't know!! Only variables I changed were the Apple OS version (10.5 - 10.6) and the size of the partition. The Window disk isn't scratched or anything so I'm at a loss.

Boot Camp is for Intel Macs only. The Boot Camp Assistant won't be installed on a PowerPC Mac such as yours, and if it's somehow present, won't open.

I was thinking of buyin an imac has my next computer. My only problem with a mac is the lack of gaming. so i was thinking of using it with windows for gaming so i get the best worlds i was wondering how macs cope with gaming on windows is there any compatiblity issues?

You'll probably get better responses if you post your question in the Bootcamp Forum.

  • Windowsxp.iso on a 2gb usb stick, and install windows with bootcamp?

    Will that work?
I got os x lion and snow leopard 10.6.8 and 10.6.1.

So practically speaking there's no real need for me to have all these files in a LR catalog.
My philosophy is the exact opposite. I believe that you want to use Lightroom to organize and manage and search for all of your photos. Yes, ALL, 100%.
I have one tool (Lightroom) via which I can find all of my photos. I always know which search tool to use to find my photos, regardless of which one of my three cameras was used. I don't have to use two different schemes, and to remember which photo was taken by which camera.
Today, you may indeed remember that this specific photo is was taken with your Canon, and that photo was taken with your Fuji and so today, you can esily find your photos. The problem is: as the years go by, you most likely will NOT remember which camera took which photo. I cannot remember, for most of my photos, which camera took the photos; nor do I even try to remember. These details WILL fade in your memory over time. If you have one tool for searching for a photo, you know which tool to use, and you can find the photo. If you have two different tools, and you open the wrong tool, you have wasted some time.
Furthermore, if you ever want to do a search for photos that were taken by BOTH cameras ... for example, all pictures of your dog, which were taken with both cameras ... you cannot do this search if you have two tools. Two search/catalog methods effectively means you have eliminated your ability to do certain types of searches. One search/catalog method means you can do this search.

  • Can't install windows 8.1 on 2015 MacBook pro

I'm trying to install windows 8.1 with boot camp and this is the message I keep getting. I've tried several times and every time I get this. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro. I've tried installing from a usb with ISO and also from a oem windows dvd. Any help would be appreciated.

First, make a time machine backup. You will need to erase ands reformat your hard drive. I had the same issue. The issue is that you can't install Windows using bootcamp without having the hard drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Do this from disk utility or recovery mode (hold down command and r at startup). Then you have to restore the backup to the hard drive. Then make a usb installer drive with bootcamp and then partition and install. Here's a tip: after you install bootcamp and are in the Windows desktop, go into the installer drive and then go into the bootcamp or support folder, then find a installer that contains the Apple bootcamp drivers. Also, you will need to convert the disk to an iso file. TO MAKE THE USB DRIVE FROM A DISC, USE THIS LINK

How Can I Install Windows 8.1 Enterprise on my MacBook Pro?

    Hi Armin.S,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you are asking about the system requirements for running various versions of Windows under Bootcamp, or just more generally how to set up Bootcamp on your Mac, you may find the following articles/pages helpful:

  • I can't install Windows 8.1 on my Imac with Mavericks using Bootcamp. Why?

I can't install Windows 8.1 on my Imac 27" with Mavericks using Bootcamp. Why? I first did all the software updates needed, downloaded the driver software to a 32Gb flash drive formatted as FAT32, fired up Bootcamp Assistant, inserted the Windows 8.1 Full version 64 bit installation DVD as requested, and got as far as partitioning (tried this at 82 Gb for the Windows partition), then the MAC rebooted but halted before getting to the login page. Then a black screen came up with the error message: 'non-system disk - Press any key to reboot'. I did this and nothing happened. I was forced to shut down forcibly then restart with my finger held down on the option key. Then a screen came up with two icons: the macintosh HD icon and the Windows DVD icon. I double-clicked on the Windows DVD icon and the MAC came up with another black screen and error message: 'CDBoot: Couldn't find BOOTMGR'. Had to shut down forcibly again and restart as before, this time ejecting the Windows DVD first. Then I repartitioned my MAC back to all OSX. What the **** do I do now? Applecare couldn't help me beyond this point. They said to contact Microsoft. I notice a lot of other MAC owners have had similar problems.
    Please help? tagjsmith.

  • Hi, I've been trying for days to download Windows support software via Bootcamp assistant, but it always failed with message 'Can't install Windows Support Software because it is not currently available from the Software update server.' Any advice welcome

I've been trying for days to download Windows support software via Bootcamp assistant but it always fails with message 'Can't install windows software because it is not currently available from the software update server.'

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

  • Can I install Windows 7 with Bootcamp without a disk

I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium when I also purchased Parallels 7.  My main objective was to use the Windows partition for games that Mac doesn't have (Everquest II for example).  I had no trouble installing Windows with Parallels but the games I want to play work very poorly on the virtual machine.  Is there any way that I can junk Parallels and install Windows using Bootcamp?  Note:  Windows was downloaded from the Parallels web site.  I am using a MacBook Pro with Lion, early 2011, Intel 2.2 GHz i7 processor with 4 GB memory.  Another 4GB memory is in the mail but hasn't arrived yet.  All software is up to date.  Another question.  Would upgrading to Mountain Lion solve the problem?  Please, if there is anyone who knows the answer, give me instructions on how to ditch Parallels for Bootcamp.  Thanks.

You can install Windows in BootCamp (it will be a fresh installation) and you can remove the existing VM installation. Windows will run faster in Boot Camp than it will in a VM (parallels is a VM).
Please note that MacBook Pro's have 2 ram slots, and they will both be occupied with a 2G chip in a standard configuraton, there will be nowhere to install the other 4G that is in the mail. Return it and order 2 x 4G chips and remove the 2 x 2G chips already fitted.

  • Can I install Windows XP SP1 with Bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011 i7 ?

Can I install Windows XP SP1 with Bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011 i7 ?

Baiscally if your Mini came with Lion Pre-installed new then No you can't use XP.
The Lion installed computers no longer support XP OR Vista via Apple's Boot Camp.
For one thing Apple only supported XP with SP2 in order to install it on pre Lion computers.
If the Mini had come pre-installed new with say 10.6 then you could have installed XP and still of been able to upgrade to Lion without any issues as you already have the drivers for XP installed. Lion only has the drivers for W7.
