Can't install Windows 8.1 update on my HP Envy TS M6 Sleekbook

I have all current drivers and software.  It came with Windows 8 and I am trying to install 8.1.  It does well until the restart.  I do the restart and it gets part way through and the screen goes dark and hours later the screen is still dark.  I press the power button and it says something like :Trying to recover install" and from there on nothing happens.  I finally end up having to go back to windows 8.   Your help is appreciated.  Maybe from what I read, 8.1 is a problem
This question was solved.

Thank you for your input.  I must say that I did have 8.1 installed and used it for about a month with no issues.  Then recently when I was installing an update for graphics I got the black screen as described.  I have since then not been able to install 8.1.  I will continue to look for a solution.  Thanks for your reply

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

yes you need the updates and patches.
Only some of the drivers that Windows will automatically install at times
and always make sure to insure it is using restore points
do all the maintenance andsuch as normal
use MS Security Essentials for AV is really top notch
    Clean disk space
Use WinClone new program to inisure you have a restore image

Windows has a software updater built into Windows and when you install the Boot Camp drivers then it will install an Apple software updater also. I believe Windows is set to automatically download and install your updates as does the Apple software Updater. They both will update the individual files it needs to periodically.
"Microsoft updates" and "Windows updates" are basically the same thing in Windows. Are you talking about the "Windows support software" when downloading from Boot Camp Assistant? Apple installs a software updater for it's Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7 so you can do it manually or automatically.
The "Hot Fix" your referring to is only for certain motherboards built from other Windows only computer manufacturers and does NOT pertain to any Apple computers.
If you have a problem with your computer then it's best to ask a specific question so we can help better.

I know there are many other threads, but I guess I couldn't find clear answer to this problem. Is that the Apple's server problem or just me?
I'm trying to install Windows7 via Bootcamp, with FAT 32 formated USB with ISO, on Macbook air 2012.
    Thanks!

The problem is the encryption and how your notebook handles it rather than a Time Capsule problem. I had similar problems until I updated the WLAN drivers on my IBM T41.
The way I convinced myself it wasn't an Apple problem was to connect my IBM T41, via ethernet, to my AEBSn. I was able to connect to internet so I knew it was a conflict between my wireless card and the AEBSn.
I am now using the WPA2 encryption for the AEBS without issue and connecting many different types of hardware; three iPod Touches, two MSI Wind Netbooks (Win XP SP3), one IBM T41 (Win XP SP2) wirelessly and both my 20" iMac and Dell 8250 Win XP (SP2) by ethernet
The MSI Winds are brand new and they would connect to the AEBSn but couldn't get an IP address from the internet (Limited or No Connectivity error message). The AEBSn was using WEP encryption. After doing a little research I found that WEP was a very common cause of this error message so I switched the AEBSn to WPA2 and everything works fine now.
Don't assume that because you can't connect via OPEN it isn't a encryption issue because my Winds wouldn't connect that way either...it wasn't until I changed to the WPA2 Personal that they connected.
You may also need to change the program that handles the WLAN connection, sometimes Windows handles it better but for the newest addition to our household, the MSI Winds, I am using the Realtek utility that matches the WLAN card and everything is hunky dory...
Finally sometimes firewalls will prevent getting the IP address...doesn't happen often but it has happened to me so I would double-check that by turning off the Windows Firewall and just verify that it isn't the firewall (that's never been a problem with my Apple AEBSn but it was a problem with an older Dlink g model).

Thats what me and the guy on the phone thought, he tried tking
Me through it, he then said, actually, there is only
Support for mac users on the site aswell, as he was trying to direct me to email support aswell, though he then realised that gettin support on the apple express is now just for mac too
I cant complete the install of iTunes 10.6.3, no.
As cant many other windows 7 users.
But it does install so much that its useable, but doesnt fully install and doesnt complete mobile device application at all, so i cant sync or even connecty iPhone to itunes.

Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"

  • I can't install Windows 8.1 on my Imac with Mavericks using Bootcamp. Why?

I can't install Windows 8.1 on my Imac 27" with Mavericks using Bootcamp. Why? I first did all the software updates needed, downloaded the driver software to a 32Gb flash drive formatted as FAT32, fired up Bootcamp Assistant, inserted the Windows 8.1 Full version 64 bit installation DVD as requested, and got as far as partitioning (tried this at 82 Gb for the Windows partition), then the MAC rebooted but halted before getting to the login page. Then a black screen came up with the error message: 'non-system disk - Press any key to reboot'. I did this and nothing happened. I was forced to shut down forcibly then restart with my finger held down on the option key. Then a screen came up with two icons: the macintosh HD icon and the Windows DVD icon. I double-clicked on the Windows DVD icon and the MAC came up with another black screen and error message: 'CDBoot: Couldn't find BOOTMGR'. Had to shut down forcibly again and restart as before, this time ejecting the Windows DVD first. Then I repartitioned my MAC back to all OSX. What the **** do I do now? Applecare couldn't help me beyond this point. They said to contact Microsoft. I notice a lot of other MAC owners have had similar problems.
    Please help? tagjsmith.

Sure, any VM should be fine.
XP reached EOL and no security updates or patches anymore from MS of course and with all the inherent issues.

You can install Windows 7 if you like. But I doubt you'll ever locate enough of the drivers and utilities to make that laptop work as designed. Toshiba certainly did not create them.
If you have no end of time to burn hunting for those and don't mind some features missing, here's how to install Windows 7.  The disk now uses GPT partitioning, but you want the old MBR partitions. So use the installation package to remove all the existing partitions and create new ones (one is sufficient).

  • Boot camp 4 can't install windows support drivers

    Hi everyone,
I have the new imac 27" with thunderbolt and preinstalled Lion. They dont give you a CD.
I run Boot Camp assistant (version 4.0) and try to install windows on a purchased DVD Windows 7 x64 ( i am a recent convert to mac but still need some windows proggys.)
Ok so once I run the installation It asks me to download the windows support drivers... I do this but then it stops 3/4 through the process and comes up with an error "can't install windows support drivers".
Do any of you out know how to fix this???
Also If I dont use the option to update the software before installing and just select install windows 7 (second option) from a disc. It installs windows fine BUT it wont install any of the network, usb, camera, graphics and sound drivers. so basicaly I am blocked from the internet for windows to update the drivers. I also cant get the driver files from another computer as the mac in windows mode can recognised usb sticks as the drivers arent installed.
I need help urgently on this as it is doing my head
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel!

    Yes, but.
Open Network Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies and uncheck everything (try Passive Mode on, and off, but no auto Proxies)
    And try again.

  • How can I install Windows 7 on Macbook Pro 17' (2009 model)?

I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).
I get into a white screen (bootscreen) then it goes into a blackscreen. I am in the Setup screen because I hear my DVD reading when I press enter.
When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
    Pease help ?

Let me get this - because the title misled me as to what you are asking, ie:
I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).
I get into a white screen (bootscreen) then it goes into a blackscreen. I am in the Setup screen because I hear my DVD reading when I press enter.
When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
Does the above really tell the story?
The issue isn't "How can I install Windows" but more like "I am trying to get past " an issue with Boot Camp 4.01.
Some people that already had BC 4.x installed had trouble after March's "Patch Tuesday" which was a critical number of security patches and updates. They had to rollback, uninstall an update/driver, before they could move forward.
The trouble with "had to zap pram to get back to Mac OS" is more to do with the health of the partition table and nvram, and you could try using both Windows control panel to set the default OS, and set Startup Disk control panel in Mac OS (click OFF the volume name, then back to the volume, too).
Sometimes there are problems with 3rd party NTFS for OS X that people use as well.
Boot into Lion Recovery - that should be first step if there are problems with Mac, and you don't sound like you tried boot Windows DVD (which I asked above, which can fix errors).

  • How can I install Windows 7 by USB? MacBook late 2008 10.6.8 Boot Camp 3.0.4

    Someone please help...
I have tried software update and no luck. I think my Boot Camp on Mac 3.0.4 is not showing me the right option on creating a USB installation. It asks me to load Windows 7 CD when I don't have it, I bought it online... Every download I tried from Apple is .exe and I am losing hope on this one...

You can only install Windows from a USB with one of these Macs:
    - MacBook Pro with Retina display.
    - Mac mini (Mid 2010 and later).
    - iMac (Late 2012).
    - MacBook Air.
If you bought Windows in Internet and you got it in a ISO image, you can burn it into a DVD. Simply double-click the ISO image, open Disk Utility, right-click the ISO image in the sidebar and burn it

  • 2007 MBP 10.7.2 - Boot Camp "Can't Install Windows Support Software"

For a few weeks now I've been trying to get Boot Camp going to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro.  Whenever I go through the assistant, I always get the message "Can't install Windows Support Software becuase it is not currently available from the Software Update server".
The download bar does progress a bit as data is being downloaded, but then stops at about 15% and gives me that error message.   Any ideas?

From what I've read the "Download Update" option as you install Lion only works for some MBAirs and it's a hit or miss on all others. (mostly a miss).
You might do a Search on the error you get as there are quite a few discussions on those problems.
