Can't Install windows on Macbook Pro Early 2011 with SSD upgrade

Dear all,
A few months ago I had an SSD upgrade and I purchased a Caddy and installed my old HDD on it, and I also changed my Battery because the old one only lasted for 15 inutes after 40 cycles :O
Anyways when I insert a windows 7 or 8 x64 DVD in my USB Samsung DVD Drive, My mac book detects Windows (with the windows 7 DVD) and Detects Windows and EFI Boot (with Windows 8),  I have tried every option of those doesn't work.
With EFI it just boots Mac
With Windows it boots to a screen with one blinking cursor top left and then it ejects the DVD ROM and that it :s
I do not know what is wrong :/
P.S. when i installed the SSD I had windows on the old drive it didn't work after the upgrade (this is what made me link both incidents).

I am willing to try this, but I was kinda trying to find a solution that doesn't need me to unscrew stuff ..etc

how large of a hard drive can i put in my Macbook Pro (early 2011) and where can i get one?

You can find answers to both at OWC as well as installation tutorials. I think you will find 1 to 1.5 TBs are the largest.

  • Problem installing Yosemite on Macbook pro early 2011 10.7.5.

When the installation on my Macbook Pro early 2011 OS X 10.7.5. goes to the page for installing Yosemite, nothing happens and after several minutes it says, "File system verify or repair failed" "Quit the installer to restart your compuer and try again"  I have restarted 4 times with the same result

Ended up restoring from Time Machine.  This seemed to take care of the errors on the drive that prevented the installation.  Will try again.

  • Can't install windows 8.1 on early 2011 MBP

    Hey all,
I'm having problems installing Windows 8.1 on my Early 2011 MBP (MacBookPro8,2). When my superdrive died I installed an SSD for the boot drive and kept the original hard drive as a secondary drive. I used BCA (modified to support USB) to create a USB 2 Windows 8.1 install drive from an ISO I previously created. I also had it partition the hard drive. When it reboots I get the "no bootable device found" and blinking cursor issue. I've tried holding down option and choosing EFI, but i've picked up during the last week that installing through EFI on my MacBook Pro isn't possible. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

I ended up coming across this last night:
    http://malwaretips.com/threads/installing-windows-on-a-mac-with-a-damaged-superd rive.32474/
I am in the process of testing this out, but currently I'm stuck with an issue with winclone not expanding the image of the usb install disk to use all the space in the partition. However I did boot into the Windows installer and didn't run into the "couldn't find partition" , "no bootable disk", or "not an MBR" errors I've seen before.
I Think the key for non supported hardware and Windows 8 or later is to create the bootable usb in windows and not through BCA. I actually used the VMWare Fusion trial and a windows 10 technical demo image to do the monkeying around in windows. Hope this helps someone else. I'll keep updating.

  • Macbook Pro early 2011 often ssd corruption

As i installed Drive Geniuou Pro 3 on my macbook early 2011 equipped with 128 GB SSD i noticed that every month i've got some check failing on the hard disk (in drive geniuos -> verification failed -> must run repair) and this reflects in a little performance slow down and  i think i always had this problem, even before installing drive geniuos, bacause i noticed those performance issues in the past. Booting from the drive geniuos cd and running repair solves the problem but it becomes frustrating because it happens so often. Is there a way to run some checks or procedure to keep in health my disk? Or maybe it is an ssd probelm and there is a patch?

What i cannot understand is why disk corrupts because macbook never freezed and never had probelm saving, moving, copying files!
You have a Toshiba SSD in your Macbook.
It sounds more like a software issue rather than a hardware issue - do you have a USB external drive handy with no files in them?  I was going to suggest you clone your SSD to the external drive and once that's done - boot from your external drive - open disk utility and do a format/erase on your ssd using a secure erase - once that's done, clone your external drive to your internal drive - restart your macbook and see if problem continues.
more than likely however, you still might have the issue since you're just doing a clone but it's worth a try.
a clean install is a much better solution but you have to do a backup of your contents so you can restore after.

  • Macbook pro early 2011 with amd 6750m

    Hi,
its a fact that many users have problem with the amd 6750m after some time of use ans Apple replaces the logic board. I tried do discover where is the problem contacting AMD: is it the GPU itself or a soldering?
Id like to know whats the problem, since my macbook has no more apple care and im facing the problem.
    best regards

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The MacBook Pro has got its GPU soldered, so the whole logic board has to be replaced if the GPU is damaged.
I have read cases of other Early 2011 MacBooks Pro users with the same problem. It looks like a general issue

  • No audio coming out of MacBook Pro Early 2011 with Mountain Lion

I just updated my Early 2011 MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion and I am having no problems except for the fact that I have no audio coming out of my computer.. when I turn it up it says that it's all the way up but theres a circle with a line through it like it's muted or something like that. When I click the mute button on my keyboard the line goes through the little speaker picture like it usually does and the cicle with the line is still there but then when I unmute it and turn it up it's still all the way up with the circle and line. Any ideas?
    Here's a screenshot of it:

Same issue with the same model.  I restarted and the problem went away.  Hopefully it will stay away.

  • I have a Macbook Pro Early 2011, with 10.7.5 that recently started freezing.

I have run disk verification and repair.  I have tried resetting the SMS with that- hold down cmd, opt, shift and power at start up trick.  I have deleted tons of files that were a waste of space.  The problem started after trying to run time machine to reaccess my internet history. I deleted the history and then realized that I wanted it again and I used time machine to recover it. That was around the time it started freezing up.  Also, another culprit could be my email... I accedentally set my email account to active on my school profile and recieved tons of emails at once. I tried deleting them, but many of them gave me an error message and wouldn't let me delete.  Then my computer started freezing up... I don't know what was the culprit, but maybe these clues help?
Also, I am wondering if I upgrade to the free Maverick OS if this has a chance at fixing the problem.  ?
Please help! It's been several days now and I am trying to get my school work done.  If all else fails I will take it to the Apple Store.

  • How install snow in a macbook pro early 2011 with mountain lion? snow leopard original dvd its no support...

    Any solution for this?

You have to boot the system from the original Snow Leopard DVD. With the DVD inserted in the drive restart the system and nhold down either the Option key, and then select the SNow Leopard DVD from the boot selection screen that comes up, or the C key to boot directly from the DVD drive.
Once the computer starts from the SL DVD Click the Utilities menu item and select Disk Utility. Once that starts select the top most entry in the keft side, the drive name and size, then the partition tab. Select one partition from the Partition Layout area drop down, Middle area, give it the name Macintosdh HD and format Mac extended (Journaled) and then click the Apply button.
Once all that is done exit DU and continue with the install.

  • Why is my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) so slow!!!

My Macbook Pro (Early 2011) with intel dual - core i7 4 gb RAM so slow. It came with Snow Leaopord and upgraded it to Lion, then uprgaded it to Mountain Lion. Whenever I run one of the Adobe CS5 apps it gets reeeeaaaaaaalllllllyyyy slow. It used to not get slow at all. Also when I have FCPX open it gets really slow. I used to be able to run Photoshop and Safari at the same time and now it is really slugish and slow. Is there anthing I can do to  clean it up and make t run faster?
    Thanks

Follow Sig's suggeston in adding more RAM.
Photoshop and FCP are RAM dependent applications.  With 4GB of RAM, open activity monitor and see your page outs and swap used.
    I have 16GB installed - page outs - 0. swap used - 0.  see image below.
8GB should be a perfect upgrade for what you're using it for.
    Good luck.

  • Yosemite macbook pro early 2011 camera light blinks

I tried to find a similar question that I saw with a Google Search but couldn't find here... But I REALLY like the Yosemite upgrade... I have problems with FaceTime - sometimes I hang up and it continues to ring, and can not connect as reliably as I could in the past with Mavericks... Also, I have noticed that the light near my camera blinks from time to time... On another post, the guy/gal listed when he noticed it blinking... A bit scary as I wonder if when it is blinking it is secretly taking m picture and sending it to some remote location... I use Little Snitch so doubt that pictures are being exfiltrated without my knowledge, but you never know... But bottom line is that I LOVE the Yosemite upgrade!  Upgraded relatively smoothly on my MacBook Pro early 2011... upgraded a few of the apps (free upgrades) and after that, and a couple reboots to make sure the upgrades were in place - all is REAL GOOD... GOOD JOB Apple OS/X developers on Yosemite!!!
