Can't intall OS X on Mac Mini! Help!

We have a Core Duo Mac Mini. We needed to re-install the OS.
The first install DVD seemed to be fine, and the installer asked for the 2nd disc. When the 2nd disc is inserted an error occurs:
"There were errors installing the software"
We have tried several times with the same error. We can't find a way to exit the installer either.
We have tried simply starting the Mini, starting from the disc etc, with no luck.
Any ideas?

I've also needed to reinstall my system software, 'cause I threw out Safari in a fit of frustration, only to find myself even more frustrated.
My installation disc freezes and I then have to stop the installation. What I do is turn it off with the on/off switch. Then restart it holding down the option button. This allows me to return to the internal hard drive as the start up disc. I think I need a new disc, but as it's september will wait for Leopard to come out in October. In the meanwhile, I'm using Firefox, which I was able to download through an old copy of Netscape I found buried deep in the folder hierarchy.

First, is your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) a 802.11n, 802.11g, or 802.11b model? Second, what is your primary goal for using this base station? Finally, is the AEBS the only router in your current network configuration?

I am trying to add mac mini to homegroup network, I can view windows 7 folders from MAC MINI ok, but from windows PC i can see all shared folders on MAC MINI internal drive but not external drive.
Is this possible ?

I have done this already, win7 machine see's the folders but i can note access them, I fear this is a windows issue

Instead of keeping the hard drive on an external enclosure I was wondering if I can use it to upgrade my Mac Mini's 160GB hard Drive with the one Im taking out of the MBP. And if so, is there any special formatting I would need to do?

It should work fine. No special formatting required. It actuality, I suspect that if you connect the HD, the Mini will boot into the OSX that was on the MacBook.
When you replace the HD in the Mini just be careful with the antennas and their wires and connections I accidentally disconnected the wifi antenna on mine when I replaced the HD.

There is no license required for iWeb. Just do a Wyodor suggested and you'll be ready to go. If you're running Lion however, consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Changed AppleID p-word and now can't login to icloud on mac mini. I use correct password and I get spinning grey wheel. I know it's the correct password cause any other p-word gets error message. Also, my time capsule is blinking amber.

Why can't I up date my Mac Mini, I tried to update to OS X Mavericks after seeing that I had the bacis requirements.
and Simple told that I could not update., no other info.

What model Mini?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
No reason why you should not be able to do it using Firewire Target Disk Mode. Here's what you do:
1. With both computers shut down connect both via firewire.
2. Startup the Mini and hold down "T" key immediately after chime.
3. Startup the PB and immediately after chime hold down Option key.
4. Select second HDD icon on the screen and click on the right pointing arrow.
5. Computer will boot from Mini's HDD.
Be sure to shut down PB completely before shutting down Mini.

In order to use Pegasus, MacBook Pro?iMac must have MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update installed. But Mac mini does not have EFI Firmware Update. How can I use Pegasus R6 with Mac mini?

First, check the status of iMessage on this page:
Apple - Support - System Status
If iMessage is down, wait tor it to come back up.
Otherwise, back up all data.
Take the steps suggested in this support article:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: "There was an error processing registration" when signing in
Sign out of iMessage:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Then sign back in with your verified credentials. Note that the password of some Apple ID's will expire periodically.
If you get the same error, try resetting the NVRAM.

Can't install Snow Leopard on Mac Mini with 10.5.8.

I'm trying to install an upgrade copy of Snow Leopard from Apple on my Mac Mini running 10.5.8. I bought this system used and the volume says ";" and the error log code is 21. Seems it can't find valid softward ID to continue or the path is different. Not sure where to go with this.

It's possible that the upgrade disk you have is specific to particular Mac models.

Help re-intalling OS on a Mac Mini

Hey!
I was given a Mac Mini recently from a friend who's office was clearing out some old equipment. The problem is, no one at his company knows what the login password is. I figured I could just boot to the OS install DVD and reset the password by doing a clean OS install (would want to do that anyway since it's new to me). Unfortunately, when I stick the disk in, nothing happens. Even Worse, when I try holding down the "C" key while restarting the computer to force it to boot to the CD, nothing happens then either. I know the keyboard works because I've plugged it into my other computer to test it. Works fine. I've even tried other key combos like Command, Option, C, R, to zap the P-Ram and Command, Option, O, F to go to the Open Firmware Boot screen. Neither of those do anything. It just goes right to the regular login screen. Are there any hard reset options I can try on a mac? I would hate to throw this lovely thing in the e-waste recycling bin just because I can't reset the stupid password. I've tried using a couple different Mac OS install discs too (Tiger and Leopard). Doesn't seem to make a difference. I looked up the Mac Mini's serial number and it came with Tiger installed so I should be OK using a Tiger install disk. Right?
Please help save this poor make from the recycling bin.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message that corresponds to an abnormal backup. Now
CLEAR THE WORD "Starting" FROM THE TEXT FIELD
so that all messages are showning, and scroll back in the log to the time you noted. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the text field.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — anonymize before posting.
