Can't keep fcp open - help!

i'm working on my first project since upgrading to a macbook pro with leopard. i installed fcs 1 (fcp 5.0.4). it won't stay open for any length of time. every time i try to watch a sequence, it crashes. it also crashed after rendering for an hour. i tried downloading fcp rescue 5 - it's helped in the past - but it won't even open.
i'm working with HD footage on a firewire drive. i've created new projects, tried freeing up disk space, and everything else i can think of. is this a leopard issue? i'm getting really, REALLY frustrated! help!

FCP 5.0.4 does not work on Intel Macs, it was designed only for PowerPC. FCP 5.1 was the first version that would work on both PowerPC and Intel macs. But that is no longer available, so your only solution would be to get the latest version of Final Cut Studio, with includes FCP 6.

Thanks but that was the first thing I try with any issues with the app.
Seems that there was a calendar event from gmail which was an invite from a different email account.
I have 2gmail accounts tied to the calendar. I narrowed it down by removing and adding back email accounts. I then changed views and realized that it was only the today's date was having an issue and closing the app. If you have a month view it looked fine but as soon as you drilled down to that day it closed.
I went on a oral computer to see what event that was on that one gmail account and found that some linkage to the invite was corrupt. Once I removed the gcalendar event. The app worked fine.

On Illustrator CS6 (Mac OS) how can I keep an open file minimized when opening other files?

I work with several files at a time and it can become annoying when you open several files and a minimized file keeps opening after each one. I don't want to have it open in the background, I just want it to stay minimized until I'm ready to work with it.

Hi Lytle,
Let me clarify few more things here. There is an option Window>Arrange>Float in Window / Float All in Windows. You can use this option to float all your documents i.e. make them in separate document window. Now you can minimize these individual windows. But, when you open any more document your last active document window will come into focus. To avoid disturbing minimized state of other documents you can keep a blank document floating and before opening any document make it active and then open any new document. This is a kind of workaround to get rid of this issue.

If I have a folder within a folder how can I keep both open at the same time?

I now have IOS 10.10.1 on my iMac and can no longer open a file within a file and have the main file remain open along with the inner file. I used to be able to do this in Lion.

I don't know if this is what your looking for but here you go.
To make it so that when you double click a folder it opens in a new window you have to turn off or hide the toolbar. To do so:
Open a Finder window > Select "View" from the menubar > select "Hide Toolbar"
Keyboard shortcut to do the same as above is ( Command ) ( Option ) ( T )
Now every folder you double click on will open in a new window.
It should remember that you elected to not have the Toolbar show and every time you open a new window it will be the same.
To change back Do the same except instead of "Hide Toolbar" it will say "Show Toolbar"

I don;t have a backup and when I follow these steps nothing happens. Iphoto won't stay open so I can start over and add photos from the Pictures file. Any suggestions?

Well with no backup you may have lost your photos - and if you have not you will sooner or later - things fail and with no backup when they do you lose stuff
What exactly happens when you depress and HOLD the option and command keys and launch iPhtoo - keeping the option and command keys depressed until the firat aid window appears?
you can also download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use the rebuild in the free trial to create a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched for future use

..where he's getting the run-around...What runaround? The posters there determined that he needed a semi-colon at the end of the statement and then that he had forgotten the INTO clause. Both are beginner errors. OP has closed the thread as answered and has gone 'off to Google' to learn more about creating SQL queries in PL/SQL. This seems resolved -- at least until he comes back from his Googlequest with another question.

I can't keep Yahoo mail account open 2 weeks in a row even with a mark in box KEEP ME OPEN. I did go to Tools, Options, Security to check SAVED PASSWORD box

Usually, after opening Firefox, to check my Yahoo mail, I log in with my password, and mark the little box in front of KEEP ME OPEN, I can check my mail, and then close Firefox. Whenever I open Firefox, I can access my Yahoo mail account without typing my password. It stays open for 2 weeks. From yesterday, whenever I close Firefox, to access my mail account, I must log in again no matter whatever I've tried such as: Tools-Options-Security-Saved Password, or log out, then log in, type PW, mark little box to KEEP ME OPEN. I even uninstall Firefox, restart, download and re-install Firefox 8.0. The problem can never be solved. It's very annoying to log in by typing again and again my PW. Benji, I did get the email server error message again last night around 8PM, but again the email does eventually go. Wondering if the 6PM to 9PM time frame is a busy time for Yahoo email servers and somehow our iTouch or portable devices take a lower priority? I seem to get the error only once a day now around that time, then everything seems fine again...could be a server issue.
Still looking for a pattern with the blank white web pages when I try and view a previous web page. Seems to happen most when I look at the "iPod touch User Guide" (on the included bookmarks)...most of the other times the previous web page loads fine so....humm....
I also had an issue with the Camera app today, the red light button and Picture/Video switch were staying dimmed...finally turned off the iTouch (holding down the Home button then pressing the Sleep/Off button on top) then turned it back on, so the iOS could reboot. That fixed the Camera app. Might want to try that too....seems like it might be a fix for a few things, especially after updating to iOS 4.2.1...

After updating to Lollipop 5.0.2 keeps opening help page constantly

I updated to the new version of android 5.0.2 and subsequently also updated the version of the app for the smartband talk SWR30 on my phone (Z3 Compact). But since this update process, it is riddled with problems.
1. I am unable to initialize any voice commands. Whenever i select the voice command option, I get a message to "Check phone"
2. It keeps on opening the help page for the voice control in a browser window. This seems to happen randomly and all the time - during a call, after unlocking, while watching a video.. and quite frequently.
Does anyone know of a solution? This is awfully annoying and a hinderance to everything while using the phone..

The last Smartband Talk update bricked my watch. Or at least, seems like it's related.
I own my SWR30 since Nov 2014 and it was working pretty well. It's paired with a HTC One M7 under Android Lollipop.
Last week, I accepted an update from Play Store related to the SWR30. The same day or the day after, my watch froze to 4:03PM. All the buttons are now inactive and no action (long press of power button, power+volume up, etc) has an effect.
I plugged the SWR30 to its power cord to reload the battery, with no effect. So I decided to keep it like that at my wirst and wait until the battery is fully empty... But since friday 15th (the day this began), the screen was always on and displaying 4:03PM. I beleive that if the battery is empty, the screen keeps displaying something.
So today, I plugged my SWR30 again to its power cord and waited... All of sudden, the watch vibrated and the display changed to 0:09AM with the moon icon displayed at top left and the power icon displayed like if the battery was at its lowest. The display did not changed until more than a hour when it changed to 1:20AM. No change to the power indicator... Still at its lowest. The buttons are not working, my mobile can't pair with the SWR30... it's just bricked.
The last update might be a coincidence and this could be a failure of the battery or the watch, but I find it curious that this happened just after a rare update...
At this point I guess that I will have to get it fixed or replaced but I can't find how. I bought it from "Sony France" on Amazon and asked for a repair... but I was only offered a refund request, which is not what I want. I want to keed my Smartband, fixed or replaced.
Any idea about this problem?

Why can't close open multiple docs in Word 2010 in multiple windows while having the option to close them out while keeping Word open?

End User of mine is wanting to open multiple docs in Word 2010.....first initial glance I thought it was a PICNIC issue. But when addressing it she has it set up to NOT "Show all windows in the taskbar" that option is unchecked so that way she
can close out docs in Word and not actually close Word. But with unchecking that box it only stacks the docs it won't display them in mutliple windows. This is not the case with Excel as she has the option enabled to "Show all windows in the taskbar"
but yet the enduser still has the option to close out the spreadsheet and keep Excel open. Is there anyway to keep that second smaller x in Word to close out the docs but yet open in multiple windows like Excel does?
Please advise!

What will happen if you check the option of “Show all windows in the taskbar”?
If you want to closing document and keep Word open, the alternative is to click File > Close, right there under Open and Save.
You also can add the Close button to the Quick Access Toolbar.

I spend most of the day on my iMac, with Apple Mail open. Over a few hours, I get dozens or more emails. I deal with them on my Mac as they come in or I have time. Now the same emails also show up on my iPhone and iPad. How can I keep from having the emails sent to my iPhone and iPad when I have mail open on my iMac? It used to be that when my iMac was open and mail on, I couldn't get mail on my iPhone, which is just what I wanted.
I've messed around with mail preferences, but maybe don't know what to set. (I know I can inactivate my account on the iPhone and iPad, but don't always remember to do that.)
