Can't Launch Acrobat 10.1.10 on Windows 7

I have tried to repair the installation and that has not worked, I can't seem to open the application whatsoever. Even after a clean install it doesn't work.
Please help...

Thanks for the quick reply!
I have tried using the Desktop shortcut and the main application in the start menu, Also when trying to open PDF files it won't work.
I did install with administrator rights, the antivirus shouldn't be an issue as colleagues of mine do not have this issue.
Any suggestions?

    Hey Albert,
Could you please tell me which Acrobat and OS version are you using?
Have you tried signing in with a different web browser?
You might need to refer this KB doc and follow the troubleshooting steps for your system:

Can I use Acrobat 8.1 Pro for Windows 8?

Generally I agree, but there is a chance it will work. If you are talking about a 64-bit system, the likelihood of problems is substantially higher. The simplest way to find out is try it (assuming you have already purchased Win8 system. You will likely have to update to at least 8.1 to have it work. However, Adobe will not provide support for problems you run into, though folks here might try to offer solutions. I have not heard anyone try it yet. Several were successful with Win7, though I only heard of 2 with Win7, 64-bit who claimed success.
However, you might find that AA XI provides better performance (assuming you do get AA 8 to work) and you probably should consider the upgrade.

  • I can't launch Acrobat Pro 9.0 (OS 10.6.4).  Need Help.

    Hi:
    1.  I have acrobat pro 9.0 ( I haven't updated it) and it was working fine until several days ago, when I updated the OS to the current 10.6.4.   Prior to that, it was working fine with the prior version of snow leopard etc...
    2.  Now, when I try to launch acrobat pro, I just get this message saying that acrobat quit unexpectedly.    I figured that I needed to update acrobat pro, I downloaded the current update, but when I go to update the original application, I can't do it because the icon for acrobat pro is greyed out (hopefully this makes sense).     Furthermore, I can't update acrobat pro by launching the application and having the software updater figure out what is needed... because I can't launch the program in the first place.
    3.  Does anyone know what in the world is going on?   From all of the variables, it's obvious that there's some issue with acrobat pro 9.0 and OS 10.6.4, but I can't figure out how to update the acrobat pro 9.0.
Any thoughts / help, much appreciated.  Harry

Since you have already downloaded all the patches starting from 9.1 to 9.3.4, i would sugg
est a little longer route but this might solve your problem.
    1. Create a new admin account say admin1
    2. Log out from the current admin account and login as admin1(the new admin account)
    3. Now update Acrobat 9.0 to 9.3.4
    4. Now if you want you can logout and login into the original admin.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • How can I make Acrobat 6 Pro compatible with Windows 7?

When I load Acrobat 6 Pro on my Windows 7 laptop I get a message stating it isn't compatible.  Is there a fix for this issue?

If you were able to install it with Acrobat and Distiller opening if selected, there is a chance. However, it is a work around. The problem is typically the print driver and Acrotray. The work around (if these two basic programs run) is to install a color PS printer (may be one of the HP printers or even a PS printer from Adobe), rename it to Adobe PDF, and set the port to FILE. To print or use PDF Maker, you print to this Adobe PDF printer that you have created. Then open the file created in Distiller to obtain a PDF. I have done this with AA7 on a WIn7, 64-bit, and with AA5 (naming the printer Acrobat Distiller) on Win7, 32-bit, for testing.
Also, be sure to install the updates to Acrobat. You will likely have to download them from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and install them in order.

  • Can't launch Acrobat 9 - HELP!

    Can anyone help:
I have just installed a legal, purchased copy of Acrobat 9 Standard, but after I accept the user agreement, the program shuts down... no error messages or anything.
    Here is my history:
I initially downloaded the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro, but I had the same problem.  I uninstalled and tried again.  Same result.
I got the Acrobat DVD with license and installed it... same result.
I uninstalled and ran ccleaner to clean the registry.  I also manually removed a few Adobe Acrobat entries from the registry.
I reinstalled from the Acrobat DVD... same result.
Any thoughts on what is keeping me from launching this product?  I have spent way too much time for what should be a simple task.
    Many thanks!

  • I can't launch Acrobat XI. I downloaded it and a mandatory update gets an error message: Error 16820. Any suggestions?

I am very frustrated that after downloading Acrobat XI I can't use it. I get a message that I must install a mandatory update but the update won't download. I get an error message: Error 16820.
    Any suggestions?@

I think this is a mandatory update for something which (confusingly) is nothing to do with Acrobat XI. See Mandadory update 2.3.0.0 gets error 16820

  • How can we launch Task Manager at Startup in Windows 8?

I want to be able to have the Task Manager start minimized in the SysTray when I start/log into  Windows. I've been doing this since at least Windows XP, and maybe back to 2000 and NT4.
There is a good discussion on this at:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0065fc23-2578-4165-8f38-c22675ae33ad/run-the-task-manager-on-startup-how?forum=w8itproinstall
The conclusion appears to be that this can't be done. Is this true?
I understand the problem -- TaskManager wants to run with Admin rights if launched from an Admin account. But what if I just want to run it without admin rights, just like it would launch if my account were not an admin account, is that possible? Perhaps
one of the command line switches? I realize that would sacrifice some of the data, like HD usage, but that's OK. I just want the task list and the CPU usage graph. Ideally, like in Windows 7, there would be an option to "Show tasks for all users"
which I could then manually elevate the Task Manager to have admin-level access, but it's OK if it doesn't at launch.
    Thanks,
    Colin
    Colin

You can launch Task Manager as an administrator by scheduling it to run as a
task upon user log on via Task Scheduler and to run with elevated permissions and/or Administrator credentials.
That sort-of worked. However, the CPU usage icon in the systray didn't appear unless I closed and manually re-opened the Task Manager, which actually adds a step at every startup versus just opening it manually.
Strangely, it seems if I add two Task Managers to start under the Task Scheduler (something I did by accident during my experimentation), the icon does appear, but clearly having 2 instances of Task Manager running at the same time is not appropriate either.
Is there a way to launch it from the Task Scheduler at startup/login, as you suggested, such that the CPU usage icon appears in the systray? Maybe it's just a question of getting the right settings in the Task Scheduler?

  • Can't Open Acrobat Reader

Can't open Acrobat Reader. Got a Windows error due to system problem, Windows automatically closes it.

    It says...
    Adobe Reader has stopped operation
"Because something has happened, causing the application not to operate normally, Windows will shut down the application, should there be any resolution to it will let you know."
Even if I uninstall the Adobe Reader and re-install it again, the same error message happens.

  • "Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X (AAMEE 3.1.150.0)

AAMEE 3.1.105.0 generated packages run fine when pushed to Macs that do not have an existing previous version of CS.
However, if pushed to a Mac that has CS4 installed, CS6 installs but Acrobat Pro X will not launch ("Internal error occurred").
We are using the latest Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium installer DMGs from licensing.adobe.com and we are following the standard workflow.
I know Adobe's position is "We don't recommend or support concurrent installs of Creative Suite" (I get that).
Since OS X lacks package management (ala Yum, RPM, etc.), the term "Uninstall" is vague, but we appreciate Adobe's "cleaner tool".
Unfortunately the "cleaner tool" is only marginally effective, it leaves a mess behind.
And...when "cleaner tool" is used to remove CS4, it whacks CS6.
Wait...it gets worse...when "cleaner tool" is used, we now can't push our CS6 package to the Mac...we get...<drumroll>..."Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X.
Someone shoot me...please put me out of my misery.
Why can't deploying CS6 be as simple as...
    http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3938350&CAWELAID=479925582
    Don

OK, we resolved the issue. Apparently there was a ~/Library/ColorSync folder present, not owned by the logged in user, and the logged in user had no access. Given OS X's domain model, it looks like Acrobat Pro X looks at that folder when it launches, even though it doesn't need to, and it can't get into it, so it tosses up the error.
Removing the folder (since it's not needed) resolves the issue. If the folder was needed, we would change ownership and permissions so Acrobat Pro X could access it.
    Problem solved.
    Thanks,
    Don

  • Failure to launch Acrobat following Yosemite upgrade

I've just installed Yosemite and now, when I try to open Acrobat I get a message that it 'cannot be launched. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat'. I have followed this instruction and opened Photoshop, but I still get the same message. How can I overcome this problem and open Acrobat?

Have you tried reinstalling Creative Suite 3?  You can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS3 products.

  • Error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when you launch Acrobat 9

    Hi,
I'm part of service desk and my company has several thousand users of Acrobat. There has been strange issues reported since upgrading from 7.0.5 to 9.1 and a lot of them are uhappy. The latest issue is users started to receive the following error,
Error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when you launch Acrobat 9 or Adobe Creative Suite 4 products. The link http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html#ErrorCodes has solution, but i tried everything given for 147-178, and nothing works. The users are highly frustrated. Any other possibilities? one collegue claims running simple reg cleaner could solve this issue.

    Wow,
I went through a "font crisis" on my MacBook about two weeks ago, and I reinstalled Snow Leopard, then restored everything from Time Machine backup. Everything but Office 2008 and CS4 was able to run from the restore, because there were preferences for both that wouldn't copy back to my Library (permissions).
I reinstalled both from the "original media" (dmg's)  with my Time Machine and 2 other external HDs connected and mounted. I had no problems with either. In fact since I was re-installing from dmg's stored on my Time Machine drive, I had to have it connected to do this. Installing Office and CS4 from the dmg's took all of twenty minutes for both with no errors at all.
I'm glad you got everything taken care of, but anectdotal evidence tells me CS4 can be reinstalled with external drives connected and mounted.
