Can't launch iTunes due to a missing MSVCR90.dll file

iTunes system error. When I try and launch iTunes get the message "The Program can't start because MSVCR90.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Then it says Error 7 (Windows error 126)
My specs are Win7 64
I had no problems with iTunes since I built this computer 6 months ago. I tried opening iTunes today and poof! it doesn't work.
What I have tried so far: I did a system restore. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times. I did a virus scan: Came back clean. I disabled my firewall settings and uninstalled and reinstalled program and tried to launch. Same error. I did a disk scan on my C drive. I did a registry cleaner with CCleaner. Not sure what else I can do. Any suggestions?

No one else having this problem?

    Hey bcolden,
I would try uninstalling and reinstalling following the directions in here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This section in particular contains important information in the uninstall process:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

  • Can't launch iTunes due to previous version of QuickTime installed

I installed an older version of QuickTime, now I can't launch iTunes anymore. In Control Panel, I have QuickTime 32--version 2.11.57 listed. I did everything in the document http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3366434&#3366434
but nothing has worked. I can't seem to uninstall the old version of QuickTime. When I run QTInstaller713.exe I get an error message about "Can't install because a newer version is already installed"
    Sony Vaio VGN-S260   Windows XP

There are no QuickTimes listed in the Add/Remove list. I see it listed in the Control Panel where there is a QuickTime and a QuickTime 32 (v2.11.57). I also see it in Start > Programs > QuickTime. When I click on that I get the message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

  • I can't download iTunes because of a missing Quicktime.msi file

After I upgraded iTunes via the latest auto update offering, I was having problems with iTunes hanging on opening and generally lagging. So I (stupidly) removed the program from my computer (which is a PC running Windows XP btw) and tried to redownload it. Still the same problem so I followed the Aple guide to completely removing the program from my computer. Bonjour wouldn't remove, although I've since managed to get rid of it.
The problem is, no matter how many times I try to clear out the files, when I redownload iTunes it won't load because it's looking for the Quicktime.msi file, which is missing. Quicktime won't download because it is also looking for the .msi file (which to my thinking it should be downloading as part of the installation anyway). Eventually, I tried reinstalling Quicktime through a Carbonite online file backup. I succeeded in getting the much in demand .msi file but Quicktime still wouldn't load. Neither will iTunes. Now when I try to load either, I'm getting the message that the file Quicktime.msi is "not part of a recognised installation package". I've moved the file to several different locations, user specific and all users, but the same message keeps coming up. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with no iTunes and therefore no Iphone synching either, so no way to access my podcast downloads.
If anybody knows of a work around that will let me get iTunes back on my computer I would be grateful.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Itunes wont work. Missing MSVCR.dll file.

I tried updating Itunes the other day. It tried twice and it could not finish. I thought to try and reboot the computer. Well, it was very slow shutting down, then the blue screen of death came on ( Oh oh )....and said something was missing. It said, if this is the first time you received this message, then try rebooting the computer. I did, and everything seems to work, except itunes. Tried to open it, and It says MSVCR80.Dll is missing. I tried again to upload new version of itunes again, and then its saying there is problem with the mobile version. Any help would be appreciated. Im sure i can probalby find this file online, but dont know if this is the best case scenario.     THanks!

  • I can't open Itunes due to error -45075. What do I do?

I can't open Itunes due to error -45075. What do I do?

I Had this problem along with the error message that it's missing the driver GNSDK_DSP.DLL. I am Windows XP and fixed the error by going to Start>My Computer>Add or Remove Programs
When the Add or Remove programs list is "populated", Find iTunes on it. Click the link that says "For more information" and the iTunes box will expand. You will see a button that says "Repair" and it says to reinstall the program if it is not working correctly, use the "Repair" button. I clicked the Repair button and it automatically started the reinstall. When all the progress bars disappear (it doesn't really give you any other indication that its done) click the "close" button and try to open iTunes again. It worked first time for me. I also saw another forum where someone said it worked for the other Windows versions by following the same route, just that in other windows versions it might be "Computer" instead of "My Computer" and the Add or Remove Programs function is also called something else. Hope this helps somebody having this problem. It drove me crazy finding the answer, but the fix was super simple once I found out what to do.

I pulled my brains out trying to figure this bug out and I may have a solution for you.
All of it installed fine in my desktop, but a friend's laptop got the error you mentioned on quicktime, itunes, flash, officeXP and about anything else I tried to load for him.
If you look in: C:\documents and settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp there will be an iTunes install log...open it in Notepad and see if it isn't exiting with a 1619 error while running msiexec.exe
If this is the case, this fix should work for you.
Seems some configurations of XP (and possibly Vista) aren't allowing full administrator rights to the account you set up when you installed XP (even though User Editor says you do have those rights.)
I read 2 MS articles and turned off simple file sharing, then gave ownership of the entire C: drive to the administrator. Logged the admin account off, logged his "admin" account in, and then gave rights to his personal directory to his account (c:\docs and settings\<username>)
Once I did that, every install that had previously errored out performed flawlessly.
    The MS articles in question:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316309 (1619 error)
    and
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308419 (how to set special permissions)
    Hope this helps!

  • Missing mscrv80.dll file when updating itunes.  what is it and how can I get it back?

When updating itunes the new installation said I was missing mscrv80.dll file.  I've reinstalled but still doesn't work.  How can it be repaired?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

The path C:/documents and setting/...iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

  • Can't launch iTunes 7

Have been using iTunes for a while. All of a sudden I am recieving an error when trying to launch: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes but that didn't help. Not sure what to try next. Couldn't find error in tech support.

now I can't launch iTunes from my computer, my QuikTime Player is no longer working either.
    a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime?
