Can't Load 10.3 or higher
I've preformed a fresh install after receiving my powerbook G4 from my father. It originally had 10.5 installed and now I am running 10.2.8. I tired in reload 10.5 as a fresh install and it gives me some msg about the kernel and not being able to install. Im not the best at Mac, I'm more of a PC guy but learning. Can anyone help.
LS thank you for responding. To better inform about the PB. Yes it did have 10.5 on it when I got it. He had upgraded the software over time. The PB originally when purchased had 10.2.8 I used the retail discs to do a clean fresh install to wipe him off the comp. When I did the install I elected not to load 9 to save hard disk space for it only has a 10 gb hard drive and that I was use MS Office. Now that im running 10.2.8 i cant use certain web browsers. I need to upgrade to a higher version minimum of 10.3 just to use firefox and to run certain apps on the social site of facebook. Is there more that I can do? If buying the retail of a never version to install could that solve my problem? Also to reiterate something, I am trying to load a copied version of 10.5 that my father had given me. Could that be the real reason why installs and not boot up?

As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5. -
Can't load photo book after crash
Hello, after spending 2+ hours creating a photo book, my mac suddenly crashed, I think due to the high temperature of the computer. The iPhoto application was still running when the computer shut down. After rebooting, I can't load my photo book anymore. The application says "Loading Book", but it stays like this forever.
Is it possible to recover, at least partially, the work that I was doing? Is there an actual "photo book" file somewhere in the computer?
Thank you... I'm quite frustrated right now.In the future you could do what I do: create a new library for each book I make. I assemble the photos in my primary library into an album and move that album to the book library with iPhoto Library Manager. [SOLVED] pacman -Syu on 10/17/2012, systemd can't load kernel modules
Ok, I did a [pacman -Syu] on my laptop, and everything went well. So I decided to upgrade my PC as well, did a reboot and then couldn't ssh into it.
Had to access the machine, and found

I'm guessing it's probably something with the new image after the pgrade, but I don't know which module to load nor do I
understand why systemd isn't loading the modules when it was working stable enough to act as a headless server before. However, I've only been a week or so with systemd and might have overlooked something in the configs. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Please. I'm desperate.

I suspect you have the original, 1G iPod touch. Those can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3,
If y ohave a 2G those can go as high as 4.2.1

Airport says connected, but browser can't load any page
Hi all mac geniuses, I just got a wireless modem/router from my DSL provider, and after I selected it and entered the password on the Airport menu, Airport says I am connected. However, the web browser can't load a page like it doesn't have internet connection. Is there something I missed during the setup?
No, Three feet away from the wireless. When i connect to the cat6 cable, I have no problem with the high-speed of the router.
It's only trying to disconnect and go wireless that I have a "fake connection" if you will

so, do this when user load is minimal.
I usually choose all options and do a complete generation. this takes a lot of space in your DB, but system will be faster even if you use rarely used transactions. -

Can I load my own videos (720p, 23.98fps progressive) onto the current Apple TV and view them - in 720p - through HDMI on a current hi def TV?
I've searched for this, but most questions seem to deal with streaming content - I need something that will playback my own videos at 720 definition - thanks for any responses!You'd have to take your laptop running itunes to the nightclub and the atv and the laptop would both have to be on a network. That's correct.
The new atv doesn't have a hard drive, just flash memory it uses as cache.
One option you may be interested in is haunting ebay or craigslist to find an OLD atv (the v1s) they have hard drives up to 100g. You can use itunes to sync your video onto this device and it will play without a network and without a running computer. The old atv is much more picky about how the movies are encoded though.
As for encoding the movies go to http://handbrake.fr and download handbrake. Open your movie file, hit the toggle presets button to get the presets flyout. For the old atvs expand the apple menu and select apple tv and hit start. For the new atvs hit "high profile", check the "large file size" box, hit "picture settings" and make sure the video is 1280x720 or less. It's ok for one number to be less than 1280 OR 720 (like 1280x500 or 1000x720) but neither number should be higher than those limits.
Hit start and in a few hours your movie will be ready to drop into itunes. -

Yes, you can, though you'd need to tell us your exact model of iMac before we could tell you specifically what memory you will need and how much you can expand to. There are a number of good vendors; I've used Crucial and Other World Computing (OWC). Both have been of high quality and good service, and either can tell you exactly what you'll need for your iMac. Other folks here may have additional vendor recommendations.
I'd definitely recommend expanding beyond 2GB. It won't cost that much more and your performance is almost sure to be better than if you just get the minimum 2GB.

I need to backfill invoices from a customer. The raw data has 3.1 million records. I have used pl/sql to load these invoices into our system (dev), however, our issue is the amount of time it's taking to run the load - effectively running at approx 4 hours. (Raw data has been loaded into a staging table)
My research keeps coming back to one concept: sql is faster than pl/sql. Where I'm stuck is the need to programmatically load the data. The invoice table has a sequence on it (primary key = invoice_id)...the invoice_header and invoice_address tables use the invoice_id as a foreign key. So my script takes advantage of knowing the primary key and uses that on the subsequent inserts to the subordinate invoice_header and invoice_address tables, respectively.
My script is below. What I'm asking is if there are other ideas on the quickest way to load this data...what am I not considering? I have to load the data in dev, qa, then production so the sequences and such change between the environments. I've dummied down the code to protect the customer; syntax and correctness of the code posted here (on the forum) is moot...it's only posted to give the framework for what I currently have.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated; how can I load the data faster knowing that I need to know sequence values for inserts into other tables?

1. Don't commit in a loop - you only add to the run time and load on the box ultimately reducing scalability and removing transactional integrity. Commit once at the end of the job.
2. Make sure you specify the list of columns you are inserting into as well as the values or columns you are selecting. This is good practice as it protects your code from compilation issues in the event of new columns being added to tables. Also it makes it very clear what you are inserting where.
3. If you use WHEN OTHERS THEN... to log something, make sure you either rollback or raise the exception. What you have done in your code is say - I don't care what the problem is, just commit whatever has been done. This is not good practice.

I'm new bee to FDM. Part of HFM support i use FDM to load flatfile data. Just has a bit more knowledge than end user.
Requirement is that i need to load data from MS excel to Planning application via FDM.
Previously application is in Excel(Macro driven) and upstream(data) is also in Excel(multi tab).
As of my knowledge data can be loaded from .csv file(Excel save as CSV) with single tab.
Could you please let me know possibilities to load data from .xls(.xlsx) to FDM.

RegardsYes you can load data for all levels in an ASO cube in any version HOWEVER, none of the upper level data in any cube will be there when you look for it. You will get a warning message in the load because ASO cubes don't store data at upper levels. It is the same as loading data into dynamic calc members in BSO cube. It will do the load without compalints, but there will be no data there (At least you get the warning in ASO)
