Can't load anything in Safari

I have a problem with safari. When I start safari, i have connection for like 20 secs. Everything seems to work fine, but then out of nowhere... It just stops loading everything. Facebook, google, CNN, nothing works. Even localhost can't be loaded. I'm using a MBP '08 running 10.7.2. It started yesteday morning at +1 GMT.
I have tried on another account on the computer.
I have tried resetting safari.
I have tried resetting the network settings.
I have tried rebooting of course.
I have done a virusscan using Virus Barrier Express.
I have scanned my HDD using disc utillity.
I have used Time Machine to recover my safari from august.
However, skype works fine. TOR works fine. Software update works fine. World of Warcraft works fine. Firefox under TOR works fine as well (I'm posting this from that browser). Tried google chrome, no luck.

I'm getting really tired of this... I tried reinstalling safari, but for some reason I can't... It just get stuck in in the process (and i have deleted safari first, so that shouldn't be the problem).
Thanks in advance

• Permanent pop up, can't do anything in Safari

Hey guys,
I've had a quick look over the board to see if I could find an answer, but had no luck.
Here's my problem.
I was using Safari this morning and every so often I get a pop up, but it's no big deal. Though after a while, a window popped up with a dialog box, where it prompted me to click leave page etc. Though what ever I clicked it just kept on re loading, becoming an endless cycle.
I quit Safari and re opened, but it was still there, probably didn't help that I have the option to keep the same pages open when I re open Safari. As I can't access anything due to the pop up, I don't have anyway to turn this off in the preferences.
I reinstalled the OS, but no luck and tried Time Machine, but no luck.
Is there an easy solution to reinstall or wipe Safari without going in to the application?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Launch Safari with the Shift key held down and then turn it off. If that doesn't work, disconnect your computer from the Internet for long enough to turn the option off.

• Can't load pages in Safari 5.1 (Windows 7)

I received an auto notice to upgrade to Safari to Version 5.1 on my Dell E1505 Laptop running Windows 7. After upgrading with the Apple Software Update tool, Safari has quit working. It will not load any page and just hangs. I used the windows control panel to first "repair" Safari, no change. I uninstalled it and downloaded a fresh version from the Apple Website, no change. I removed version 5 and downloaded version 4.03. It now reports that it can't load the page because the website isn't responding. Internet Explorer works as advertised. I've reset Safari, repaired, removed, etc. Any ideas? Please don't make me go back to IE......
The PC is a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop with 2 GB Memory running Windows 7 with SP1.

If you used Adobe Acrobat in the past read here > Apple Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader/Acrobat Advisory
Try using Preview. Right or control click a PDF file you have stored on the hard drive then click Get Info.
Click the pop up menu next to: Open with
Select Preview
Then click: Change All

• I can't download anything from Safari and I'm using iPod, HELP!

Please help, I can't download anything from safari

More specificially, you may only download files that may be opened by another app. First install an app that handles the type of file you want to download.

• Can't load pages on Safari.

I have this very annoying issue with my Mac. (I have OSX v.10.7.3 Safari v. 5.1.5)
Very often when I try to open a webpage it takes forever to load and eventually I either get a “Safari can’t open the page because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.” message or the page loads partially-no pictures or with a strange layout. After that when I re-lunch the page it shows up instantly. The strange thing is that when I don’t wait but instead quit and re-lunch Safari while it's loading the page, it loads straightaway. I can also turn my Internet connection on and off again and same thing happens. (WiFi or cable- it doesn’t matter) The problem is that I have to do it every time I click on a link. You can imagine what happens when I try to open more than one tab or window.
This also happens on Chrome on my Mac but my Toshiba Win XP works perfectly so I don’t think it’s the modem or wifi. I don’t have any antivirus installed, no mackeepers either.

Hi...
Apple suggests using OpenDNS > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Very easy to setup.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK.
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, and it's free.

• Says I am connecte to a wifi network but can't access anything on Safari or open any apps. Help!!!

For the past few weeks since I have updated to ios 6 I am not able to open any apps (Facebook, Twitter, App Store, Instagram) and my Safari will not open any pages. It loads and loads then a message shows up saying "Safari could no open the webpage becuase the server stopped responding." I have tried everything including Resetting the Network as well as a full reset of my ipad (done at the apple store). I am still having the same issues. If someone could please help me with this as this is getting extremely frustrating! My Iphone 4 is having the same issue as well. But when it comes to WIFI at other locations it seems to be fine, only at home is where I am having this issue.

I just bought a new wireless router/modem from my internet provide (Shaw) and I'm still having the same issue. My laptop is working fine. It's only the iphone 4 and ipad 2 I'm having issues with.

• Help! I can't download anything from safari on my iPod touch

Please help me! I am trying to download maps for minecraft pe on my iPod touch and I don't want to download an app like iexplorer, ifile, or anything like that! Is it possible?!? (Note:Your reply can include using a computer for downloading, but I don't want to download anything on that ether.)

I am trying to download a minecraft pe map on www.adf.com and I am going to try to get it on minecraft pe. Come to think of it, how do you get it on that app? Also, let me rephrase me original question. You CAN use a app for it but it must be free and, if it is on the computer, then note this, I DO NOT have a Mac of any kind.

• I can't download anything with Safari

I have to get the URL and have to use Speed Download.
Safari only shows a black window.

HI...
Try temporarily disabling Speed Download > http://www.yazsoft.com/products/speed-download/faqs/?temporarily-disable-speed-d ownload
If you still can't download files, follow the instructions on that page for uninstalling SD then try downloading files to see if it makes a difference.

• Can't install anything and Safari 3 crashes after 10.4.11 update

After installing 10.4.11 from the software update, it took forever for my computer to come back up. It showed only a white screen for over 20 minutes. I restarted it again and finally the OS came back up. Safari is updated to version 3 and it keeps crashing.
Also, I downloaded the combo pack to reinstall 10.4.11, and I click on the .dmg and nothing comes up. I tried downloading other applications as well and the same thing happens: nothing. No install window, no error message, only the enlargement of the folder when you click on it. HELP!!

I do have backups. Although, it looks as though the problem got solved. I had only done the Disk Repair. There were no problems that came from that. I booted off of the Install Disc again and chose English and then went to Disk Utility in the Installer menu and did "Repair Disk Permissions." There were a bunch of files that got their permissions corrected. That was enough to make the .dmg files install once I rebooted. I reinstalled the 10.4.11 Combo Intel pack and this time it had no problem. All of my third party apps work now without any issue. No word on whether Safari keeps crashing, but everything seems to be fine. Thank you!

• Firefox can't load gmail while safari can. none of the "help" solutions work. help!

see above. i've cleared cache and cookies, etc, etc, and nothing helps. this is so frustrating.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Exactly how are you trying to restore form TM?
Have you tried rebuilding your iPhoto library?
And your comments indicate that you may not understand iPhoto at all - you should not be inside the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it - and iPhoto does not duplicate photos - more details of yoru work flow would help sort this out

• Safari can't load pages

Every time I wake my computer from sleep mode, Safari (and every other web browser, for that matter) takes a good 2 minutes to load a page. I'm connected to a solid Wi-Fi network, and I can access the internet through other apps (I can get email, for example), but I can't load anything through Safari. The loading bar moves across about a 10th of the way, but it stops there for a long time. I have to reload the page several times for it to load anything.
I have tried clearing the cache, disabling DNS prefetching, and even reinstalling OS X Mavericks, but nothing helps. I have parental controls enabled, but with no web filtering option, so I don't see why that would affect Safari. Any help wold be appreciated!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
