Can't load iTunes on my Win7 64 bit PC

I've got a Win7 PC OS and 64 bit machine. I keep getting a 42404 code when I try to download iTunes. I can't download Audible books to my iPod Touch.

Surprise suprise! Can't install itunes to my win7 64-bit...help!

So I got a brand new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7 64-bit for Christmas and it won't let me install itunes. I keep getting the message:
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.

All this has happened just after I got an ipod issue whenever I connected my ipod, my pc just froze and I needed to reboot it. The ipod is ok now, but I just can't load itunes or quicktime. It is driving me mad!!

Tried to upgrade to new itunes and now can't load itunes or quicktime

HELP! i tried to upgrade my itunes. This upgrade was totally successful. I then had another problem on my computer so i tried to restore my computer to an earlier timepoint. Since I have done this, I can't load itunes or quicktime. I have tried to uninstall the programs and reinstall them but it still doesn't work. I get an error message on quicktime:
failed to initialize- error-2095
The itunes error message reads :
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Help- I am going insane with this!!!

I followed a link and somehow ended up at this post from Mike Hogan3 and combined it with something else I came across. This is what worked for me!
1)Follow his suggestions for removing quicktime and itunes (at the end of this message).
2)Then reinstall iTunes from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
3) Then install QuickTime Standalone Installer from this page (located in the middle right of the page- don't install the one with iTunes!) http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Hope this works! It did for me!

This might not be exactly the same problem but lots of people (myself included) had problems after installing iTunes 6.0. I did the following and it finally installed correctly.
I went to

and downloaded the Cleanup utility near the bottom of that page. When it installs on your machine it will scan your computer for every installer every ran on you're machine. Only select iTunes and Qtime and delete those 2 installers. Then I went to add/remove programs and removed iTunes and Qtime. Prior to this Qtime would not unistall but now it did. Funny thing was there was no prompting by windows once I hit "remove/repair" in the "add/remove programs" function.
Then rerun the iTunes 6.0.1 update. That had been failing to install Qtime prior to this but now it installed and I see all my music again and iTunes works. Let me know if this does the trick, I hope so.

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with gift card issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
If you can't redeem your iTunes Gift Card or code
Contact iTunes Store Support
If the code is completely scratched off or you still can't redeem your gift card, contact iTunes Support:
Go to the iTunes Store support page and choose your country.
From the menu on the left, choose Contact Support.
Click Contact iTunes Store Support.
Follow the instructions.
iTunes Store Support might ask you to send these things:
Image of the full front and back of your gift card
Sales receipt showing when your card was purchased
Serial number from your gift card

I just bought a new Dell XPS w/ Windows Vista. I cannot load iTunes. I've deleted and reinstalled several times, but each time, when I try to open iTunes, it tells me that "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." Help?!

While playing with the pre-release versions of Vista I had numerous iTunes problems though I could get it to run. Just not reliably. Since Vista was just released, and that just for businesses officially, we'll just have to wait for an update. Remember, Zune software doesn't work on Vista either.

That's an unusual key to be getting an error on.
Does your XP user account have administrative rights? If, so let's have a look at the permissions on that key.
Go "Start > Run", type regedit and hit enter.
Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE
Expand SOFTWARE
Expand MozillaPlugins
Right-click on the @apple.com/folder and select "Permissions".
Select your User Account name in the list.
Is there a check in the box under "Allow" next to "Full Control"?

Can't Download iTunes 10.5.2 64-bit

I have Windows 7 64-bit and I am trying to download the iTunes 10.5.2 64-bit download. However, I am getting the error message:
An error occured during the installation of assembly ''Microsoft.vc80.crt.type=''win32'', version=''8.0.50727.6195, public key token=,1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b'', processor architecture=''x86'', please refer to help and Support for more information. HResult: 0x80070422
I ignore this message and the installation starts its "rolling back action" process. After 15 minutes of waiting, iTunes finally downloads. However, when I try to connect my iPod Touch 4G, I get a message saying:
This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes
I think that even though I download the 64-bit iTunes download, it still gets downloaded as the 32-bit version. I have read through many other forums on this site and have tried uninstalling iTunes and all Apple programs, but the same thing occurs. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

Solution was found. Go to this link if you had the same roblem as me and are using Windows 7.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer file from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

If you took the backup of your music that you made from the old computer and compiled the iTunes folder to the new computer your iPod would think it was syncing to the same iTunes Library (it can only sync to one library on auto sync) and would add the music you purchased.
Sounds like you didn't have a backup file. You need to put all the music you had on the old computer on the new computer and then sync it. If it was music you purchased from iTunes download it again, there is no charge. If it was music you ripped from CDs then rip them again. If you don't want to download or rip them again then buy TouchCopy and move the music from your iPod to your new PC iTunes library then sync again.
By the way this is a user-to-user technical support site, I don't really care whether you buy music from iTunes or not.

Upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 on my iPad 4, can't load iTunes !

Yes iMessage was barely working before (resetting network settings is what got it sort of working), but after 7.0.3, it's more broken than ever. I can't send ANY texts to iMessage users, even if iMessage is shut off. I tried resetting, I also tried resetting network settings again, but nothing has helped. It won't let me activate it.
FindMyFriends keeps giving me a prompt to connect to iTunes. And no matter how many time i click OK, it just keeps popping up. I have to try to click my way out of it faster than the prompt appears, or i just get stuck in an endless loop. And with how slow iOS 7 is on an iPhone 4, it's a bit if a challenge.
This is the first time I'm actually ready to start looking at other phones, these problem have been BEYOND frustrating.

Can't burn cds to library, can't load itunes store, can't recognize ipod

I downloaded the new version of itunes and now it doesn't work very well....
1. I could not burn the a brand new cd into my library, the process was stuck "connecting to gracenote"
2. My itunes store will not load
3. my ipod is not always recognized by the computer
How do I fix these problems? I tried to reinstall itunes, but that didn't seem to work.

I'm assuming you have already resolved the issue, but if you have not, I would recommend that you uninstall iTunes completely and remove anything related to Apple on your computer including Quicktime.
