Can't load on Ipod - should be enough room?

I am trying to load 1.8g of podcasts onto Ipod Nano/2g,
but the msg says:
The owners Ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough
free space to hold all of the items in the Itunes library.
I've deleted all other podcasts & songs from the Itunes Library except
for the 3 podcasts Totalling 1.8g. I don't understand what's happening??
Can anyone help, please? THX.

it is not only those few features, it is all the
things that come on the iPod. Mostly the iPod
software itself, but also some on the things you
listed, plus a little on games, etc.

  • My PC's bust. I'm getting a Mac. Can I load my ipod tunes onto the Mac

It's my daughters Ipod actually. She's built up a collection of tunes on her ipod of which she's very proud. However, the PC to which the ipod was synchronised has broken. I'm replacing it with a Mac. If she simply synchronises the ipod with the new machine she'll presumably lose all her tunes. Is there a way out of this please?

Connect the iPod to your new computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article:: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    PodWorks Mac Only

Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

  • Can I load my ipod using it on another computer?

Hello please could someone help me ? I have 2 questions:
    1. How can I make the ipod list my audiobooks under audiobooks? It doesn't seem to do that but stores them under music or lists.
    2. I plug my ipod into my pc and it uploads any podcasts automatically. I really only listen to audio books, my own music and mostly podcasts. I travel a lot to Sweden and have to go to the library or a friends for internet use - however I don't know if it is possible to log into my library? One time I downloaded the itunes then logged in and it siad this is registered to anothe rlibrary and it seemed as tho it would wipe the ipod clean and just put what I would get then. My problem is that I would have lost all the other things on my pod and not get them back until I went back home.
Sorry if this is convoluted I have tried getting help on the helpline but the info was not correct. They said I could log in and did once in this country in another library but not since or abroad.
Thanks for any help - thank goodness for these boards and your time!

  • Can't load my ipod nano from itunes on a mac; that is, I can't drag and drop an mp3 file (of a speech) from iTunes to my iPod--though the iPod shows up on iTunes. My nano is the brand new touch screen.

I received the new iPod Nano with the touch screen for Christmas. I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8. I have iTunes 10 on my system. I cannot drag and drop MP3 files from iTunes to my iPod--though it appears that iTunes recognizes my iPod--it shows up on the Devices menu on the left side of iTunes. My wife--a long-time Mac user--kidded me that I didn't know what I was doing, Then she tried to load my iPod and failed as well. Any suggestions?

  • Ipod Nano - Not enough room

Have gone through every forum I can find and have found no solutions. I had my 16gb iPod Nano stolen. Bought a new one (refurbished). Trying to sync with itunes with the exact same playlist and it says there is not enough room. Have restored 4 times to no avail.
    Converting songs to 128kbps
Have unchecked all videos and podcasts
    Only have one playlist selected.
Status bar at the bottom says I have plenty of room but as soon as I hit "sync" the status bar jumps to completely full and get error message that it cannot sync because there isn't enough room. I have deleted about 100 songs and still get same problem. As I said I had the exact same iPod before and had used the exact same playlist on older 16gb model with no problem whatsoever. Fit all songs with room to spare.
Any ideas? Am thinking I got a lemon.

This is the image I get before hitting sync. Then it immediately jumps to completely full.

  • Have CD-R of MP4s- can't load onto iPod

Hi. I normally receive avi files that I convert to mp4s and load them on my iPod. I'm fluent in that (thanks to this message board). I just now starting receiving already converted mp4s on the disks instead. The disk basically freezes everything up. I do have an older computer- Dell something running XP. Inserting the disk automatically launches WindowsMediaPlayer that I shut down. But even trying to copy the files from my "My Computer" directory freezes everything up. I can't copy them to my desktop or anything. So short of praying for osmosis transfer- any tricks I can try? I will be replacing my computer soon enough. I have no DVD drive functionality and suspect that may be part of the problem. If I just try to drag the file to my iPod in iTunes, I get a circle with a line through it. If I copy it from My Computer (if I'm able to call it up), I get no paste option back in iTunes.
Any way I can load the file onto another computer and email it over somehow to mine? The file will be too large, no?
    TIA

  • Old computer crashed, can update new from ipod?

My wife killed my old computer. It had all my itunes on it. I have a new computer. Can I load my ipod songs to my new computer/itunes?
Please walk me through necessary steps if possible.
    Thanks!

    VanKleek,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
XPlay (Software For Cross-Platform Functionality & Music Recovery)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes
-- One full set on an external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl).
Here is a post on developing a backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=210939&messageID=1215125

  • HT1459 I cant load my ipod from itunes

I can't load my ipod from itunes

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

Either you did or did not.  Do you not remember?

Media is not burned to iDevices.  Burning an iDevice would destroy it.
Why will iTunes not allow you to sync media to the iDevice?  What happens when trying to sync media to an iDevice?

I changed my password so now when I pull up my account there is no music.
    Changed password to what?
    Pull up what account?
What does this have to do with iTunes?
One does not pull up an account to access their media, they simply launch iTunes.
Changing a password has nothing to do with accessing the media on the computer when one launches iTunes.
What is the actual issue that is occurring?
    elkelawdog wrote:
Can anyone tell me how to find my old account and then copy that music to my HTC One.?
iTunes has nothing to do with putting media on a non-Apple device.

Pretty sure it doesn’t say there is not enough room in iTunes library because it is not backed up to the iTunes library.
    What is the exact message?

  • Time machine backup fails--not enough room.

I have a 2 TB drive in a Mac Pro running Yosemite (10.2) that I have been using for Time Machine backups. I have a 1 TB drive as my main hard drive that is about 2/3 full and another drive with less than 200 GB used. Unit recently, Time Machine has been working as it should. However, in the last week, I have been getting an error message saying there is not enough room (321 GB available). As I understand the process, older backups should be deleted when there is no longer enough room. Additionally, it should only be updating the backup and there should be enough room for that. Why can I not get a backup?

Try C4 in the 1st linked article.

  • Can't sync my ipod not enough free space!

I went to download/ sync some more cd's on to my laptop and got a new message saying that I don't have enough "free space" to hold all the items in the itunes library! It had stated (additional 820.3 MB required), which I know I need more than that. Does anybody know how to get more MB's for this cause I don't understand how it could run out of space so quick- it's not like I've loaded it up already, besides this Ipod should hold double what's on there!  This is a new laptop too, so I don't understand any of this - can someone explain this and tell me what I need to do before I make a permanent residence at Apple??? Thanks, Julie

No longer a problem. After leaving a while and trying again the iPad and iMac successfully synced.

  • Can I load adobe reader to my ipod

I would like to load adobe reader onto my ipod so I can read manuals in .pdf format. If I can't use reader, what is the alternative reader app?

If you have an ipod touch, then you should post in the ipod touch forum.
The ipod touch can read .pdf files.
The only apps you can download on an ipod touch are from the app store.
If you don't have an ipod touch, then I don't think you can do this at all.

  • Hello you can help me my ipod or itunes I do not have total spins music on the ipod and not all the photos I've just not very much since I have up loaded the latest version 5.0 please help

hello you can help me my ipod or itunes I do not have total spins music on the ipodand not all the photos I've just not very much since I have up loaded the latest version5.0 please help

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?
