Can't load preset from Levels

Ever since upgrading to CS6, when I click Levels>Load preset, I can no longer search in the window for the file. Previously, I could type in the file name and it would come up and I would select it. Now, when I search for the file name, there are no results at all. The file can be found by doing a regular search in a Finder window, but not through the window that comes up from the Levels window. I've reindexed Spotlight, and that has had no effect. The workaround is to open a Finder window, search, find the file, drag the file into the Levels' load window and select it there. This takes a lot longer though. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Using Photoshop CS6 Creative Cloud (13.0.0), Mac Pro with OS X 10.7.5.

Thanks. That worked.
I did not have the files in that folder so no, they weren't in the drop down list unless I'd previously loaded them and not quit PS.
The reason is that long ago I started keeping my presets and palletes in a separate folder due to a nasty experience with an old version of Photoshop that corrupted all my settings and some of my preset files more than once. After painstakingly recreating all those, I just decided to keep them as far away from Adobe folders as possible. It was never a problem before because I could always access them when needed with just a few search keystrokes and they'd show up. Guess that's not going to work anymore. I copied the presets into the folder you suggested. From now on I'll just have to remember to make sure if I make changes in the presets to make copies in both places—I'm still paranoid.
Interesting that the search in the Load Preset window doesn't work for you either. Since it works within the Finder, I've got to think it's likely a bug from Adobe.
Again, thanks for your help.

  • Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?

    Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?  The model A1395 is described as "wi-fi only" and has a 30 pin connector for charging.
    [By contrast, this is NOT the iPad2 model A1396, which is described as "Wi-Fi/GMS/GPS AT&T" or the Model A1397, which is described as "Wi-Fi/CDMA/GPS Verizon". Nor is it the model A1337, described as "Wi-Fi/3G/GPS (Original)".]
    Wi-Fi only seems to me to have an ominous ring to it.  I am synching with my iPhone through the iCloud, if that is of any use.
    In addition, I should note that the photo files I want to look at in the iPad are large files, a little over 100 MB in JPEG format.  The desire is to display the whole image (these are archival photos of heirloom quilts) and then be able to focus in on specific details (by enlrging them so that the stitching and other details can be seen).  I mention this because I tthink there may be some 30 MB limit on the size of a file that the iPAD can handle.  Would I be able to examine a larger file (but perhaps npot as large as 100 MB) if I had 64 MB memory in the iPad?

    WiFi only refers to the fact that the iPad connects to the Internet via WiFi because it does not have cellular capability. That has nothing to do with the ability to put photos on the device.
    Sync the photos from the Mac via iTunes.
    Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
    Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
    Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
    Select the folder from which your photos are located in the Sync Photos From Heading. If you use iPhoto - select that or navigate to the specific photos folder on the Mac.
    If you use iPhoto, select all of the albums, or events that you want to sync. If you use another photos folder, you can select one level of sub folders within that main folder.
    Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
    Having 64GB of storage also has nothing to do with the ability to view the photos on the iPad since that refers to storage capacity. However, the larger the storage capacity, the more photos the iPad will be able to hold.
    I know of no limit on the size that a photo needs to be in order to be viewable on the iPad.
    If you use iCloud, you can sync photos that you shoot on the iPd and iPhone across devices via Photo Stream, but it just be turned on for this to work. Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream on. Any photos that you take on one device after photo stream is turned on, will sync to the other device.

    Hello and welcome to the support community
    As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5.

    Can I load batteries from an electrical socket, using the same as my IPhone charger?

    Your terminology is confusing...  If you are describing the USB power adapter (that plugs into a wall outlet) that you use to charge your iPhone, you can use the same connection to charge your iPod nano.

  • My iPad music seems to be corrupt. Can I delete everything including the back up so I can re-load afresh from my iTunes library

    My iPad music seems to be corrupt. Can I delete everything including the back up so I can re-load afresh from my iTunes library
    In my iTunes library on my Macbook Air everything is OK but whenever I syncronise after an update a back up is made and then re-loaded.
    Can I delete this back up somehow and load direct from my iTunes Library ?

    Depending upon what problem that you are having with the Music app, have you tried closing the Music app via the iPad's taskbar and seeing if that helps ? From the home screen (i.e. not with the Music app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Music app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't help then you can delete your music from your iPad and re-sync it back to it. A device's backup doesn't contain the contents of the Music and Videos apps, when you do a restore it gets those from your computer's iTunes library and not from within the actual backup, so deleting the backup shouldn't make any difference to that - if you want to delete the iPad's backup from your Mac then go into iTunes > Preferences (command-comma), and on the Devices tab select the iPad backup and click the 'Delete Backup' button.

  • Iphoto 09 "Show Aperture Library" can't load images from Aperture 3.1

    I'm trying to create a calendar in iPhoto 09 using my photos in Aperture 3.1. When I select from iPhoto "Show Aperture Library" I just get the spinning wheel. Below is my environment and what I have tried:
    Environment:
    * iMac 27 3 ghz
    * 4 G Mem
    * 10.6.5 OSX
    * iLife 09
    * Aperture 3.1
    * All updates applied
    Below is what I have tried/verified:
    * In Aperture, Preferences, set the previews to share with iLife and iWorks "Always"
    * Reviewed export Presets - didn't see anything that may apply
    * Verified it worked on my old iMac (20 inch 2 ghz, ilife 09, Aperture Trail version 3.0.1)
    * Created a new Aperture library (new mac) and still can not see it from iPhoto
    Unfortunately, I can get into the Trail version on the old mac (expired) to see if something is configured differently or if this function is not supported in Aperture 3.1.
    I know I can export from Aperture and Import into iPhoto, but thats seems like a lot of work for what I need to accomplish.
    Someone please show me the light!

    It should work in 3.1 also so thats not the issue.
    First if you try to access the Aperture library from an application other then iPhoto, say mail, does that work? If it does then the problem is most likely with iPhoto. If you get the 'spinning beach ball' in mail then its looking like Aperture.
    Assuming its Aperture you should go through the steps outlined at [Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805]. Do those and let us know what happens.

  • AE CS5 can't load projects from an earlier version

    Hi!
    I have several AE projects created back in 2006. I've tried to open them in AE CS5 but I get an error:
    (Translated from spanish) After Effects error: this file was  created in an earlier version of After Effects [5.5.1 (Windows)] and  can't be opened. You can convert this file using an earlier version of  After Effects and saving it again.
    What a solution! I can't even remember what AE version was used to create the file back in 2006!
    Is this normal? new versions of AE can't load earlier version projects or what?
    What can I do? I don't have an earlier version of AE at hand right now...
    OK, Let's suppose I did that project in After Effects 6 (I'm not sure,  but maybe). Let's suppose I can install and run AE6 in my Windows 7 x64  machine (I'm not going to downgrade to Windows XP x32). OK, I load the project,  And save it again? What's the point on doing this? I can't save it in  AE-CS5 format from AE6. If it was created in AE6 I can only save it in  AE6 format (the format that it already has) or older, but not newer!
    Just imagine if MS Word 2010 could not load docs created in MS Word 2003...

    Yes, this is normal and it's documented in the help. The rest is beside the point - even Microsoft could have decided to cease support on their old formats and it was actually under discussion for Office 2007 to avoid the various security issues associated with those old formats. You know, programs evolve and it's simply not possible to always guarantee 100% legacy compatibility....
