Can't load webpages via wireless lan

Hi Guys,
Got a bit of a problem and was looking for some suggestions.
I've been using my 24" iMac via wireless (802.11g) for internet access for about the last year without any problems, but this week its giving me lot's of trouble.
Here's the situation:
- Connecting to a Netgear wireless router/adsl2+ modem.
- I can connect to the WLAN ok but when I try to load a website in either Safari or Firefox, it looks like it is going to load but just stops and sits there indefinitely.
- If I plug in a LAN cable it all works perfectly.
- I can connect using my Vista laptop and it works fine.
- I thought it might be a DNS issue, but I can open Terminal and ping websites successfully. I can also ftp to a few sites using the command line.
- I've obviously tried rebooting the computer, router etc. I also tried disabling MAC address filtering and WPA.
So I'm kind of at a loss at the moment. I haven't installed or changed anything because I used it to browse the web a few days ago and didn't use it until this morning when I found this problem.
I haven't had much time to try anything else so I'll be troubleshooting more when I get home. Just wondered if anyone had some things I can try.
Thanks heaps for you help.
Cheers

Don't worry I figured it out. I seem to have jumped the gun in thinking that it was working via ethernet cable and not with the wireless because neither were working. I thought the ethernet was working but it had just cached google and a few other sites I think.
Ended up factory resetting the router and all is well.
Thanks for looking.

Yes, unless the public wi-fi hotspot your iPhone is connected to restricts/prevents doing so.
FaceTime was available via wi-fi only for a while.

Yes, my wifi is working correctly don't worry, I've connected my laptop by Wifi.
I am a nerd so don't worry I know how to setup correctly my wifi
    @javid
No, I have checked for that, but I didn't, the reason is simple, I bought my telephone as a 2nd hand, and they didn't provide me the Nokia USB cable, and this is not like mini-usb, it's Nokia USB cable.
I have found on the web this link (I don't know if I can post outside link but I'll take my chance)
    http://ingus.tunt.lv/index.php?zoomzina=903
    I didn't follow all the steps (I didn't create the file genericnif.ini)
In fact, I have just changed the Tx Power level to 10mW and disable the power saving.
I tried to go online with the E71 browser, and it was working, I turn back the power saving on, it was still working.
Since that, I just used my Wifi one time and I don't know how long it will worked.
I don't think it's normal that the operating system as so many issues.
Hope one day we could change the operating system by another one because symbian is getting old and unstable.
Anyway, if anyone has an explanation for me or a better way to fix this issue forever, I am still there !
Maybe if you had a solution, I would be able to installing a good, stable, working, OVI store application.
    lol...nerd...lol.
i was talking about the wifi connection on your device.
i would delete the connection then recreate it as a new one by searching for your wifi and entering the key again.
there is a product that is really good called smart connect, it will automatically allow your e71 to search for the fastest connection and use it.
then there is another product that is also free that you could use called easy wifi by devicescape which is wifi specific.  http://devicescape.com/
if push comes to shove and you dont care about starting over, you may as well do so and just reinstall the OS firmware or *#7370#
this will wipe the enitre devic eand start if afresh.

  • Inside network can't access webpage via domian name hosted on inside network web server

I've just deployed Cisco 1900 series router.
Configured network with NAT Overload. Everything seems to work fine just one thing that bothers me.. i have web server inside network.. and i can't webpage hosted on that server using www.domainname.com. I can only connect to it via internal IP.
For now i've sovled this by adding domain name and internal IP of server into hosts file in Windows.
But I'd like to know if there is any better way to solve this?

  • Firefox can't load webpages

Unfortunately the program does not work properly on iMac. The first address is loaded without problems. Therefore whatever. Then just spins and writes connecting. I read all the advice. Unfortunately does not work either. Using version 32.0.1. I disable the firewall, I don't have malware, etc. Both Safari and Chrome it works without problems. We can not have a program to need finetuning to load a web page. I am tempted to think it is a waste of time.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

  • Installer can't load network via DHCP

    Hi everyone,
I've been trying to install Arch, but the installer won't recognize my ethernet card.  I have also used the core installer and installed the basic Arch setup, but I also could not get the network to work.  I have an Intel ethernet card using the e1000e ethernet module, which is already loaded.  During install, I get a "Transient Resolver Failure" error message when trying to use Pacman.  I tried to use the information that my home server, running Debian, uses for its gateway (192.168.1.1), in my /etc/rc.conf, but that didn't seem to help.  When I run "route" as root, the table is empty, but commands that I found on here don't seem to add any routes.
Any suggestions you all have would be most appreciated. Let me know if you need any more information from me; I'm more than willing to provide it.

I assume the correct driver was detected and loaded for your ethernet controller, as you mention the e1000e module. Does this affect _only_ pacman?
If so look here: Arch Linux Forums
Otherwise try bringing the interface up manually: ifconfig [ethernet device] [ip address] up; route add default gw [gateway ip]; echo nameserver [dns server ip] >> /cet/resolv.conf
[stff]Hint: Searching the forum for the term "Transient Resolver Failure" may have been a reasonable idea before posting.[/stff]

  • Can't load any webpages but internet works

I ran into an odd issue on a work computer running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.
Every morning when I come in, the computer is unable to load any webpages using Chrome or Safari. Other things that rely on an internet connection (but are not accessed through the browser) still work (i.e. LogMeIn Hamachi, Accessing a remote file server, etc).
I don't think it's a DNS issue. I am able to successfully ping any website. AFP requests that rely on DNS lookup also go through. But I am unable to access any website, located on the internal network or the internet even if I know the IP address.
I tried manually setting the DHCP settings and rotating the DNS servers. Still can't load webpages.
I also tried restarting mDNSresponder and it still didn't work. The only thing that works is restarting the computer.
This happens every once in a while on other computers in the office, too.
    I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
    Log into Guest
Open Safari and see if you see the same behavior
If no, it's an issue in your User's folder.
If yes, it's an base issue.
Even though you are fully updated, running the combo updater can help.
MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES
Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.9.3 to 10.9.4. If somehow the 10.9.3 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.9.3 and 10.9.4 it will still be stale after the delta update.

  • Can't load Mavericks.

Hello, I can't load Mavericks via app store.
    This is my MacBook.
    MacbookPro 6,2
    10.6.8
    (2010)
    Snow Leopard.
Please help, don`t know what to do.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Do you have all of the above? Your model number and OD look good.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

What happens when you try to download? Error message?

have you searched the forums? There are a bunch of threads on the ath9k module not working correctly with the latest kernel.
That's why it works in the live cd environment but stops working once you update and login to your actual installation.

  • Can AirPort Express connect a wireless and a non-wireless at the same time

    Hello everyone,
I have both a PowerBook G4 with wireless card, and a 17 inch iMac G4. Is there a way to connect both of them to the internet using the airport express?? can the PB access via wireless and the iMac via the usb port perhaps?? right now I connect the non-wireless directly to the broadband modem using ethernet.any pointers will be really appreciated!!
    Thanks

If you have a single Airport Express then the answer is no.
The USB port is for printing only.

  • Safari / Mail: No longer able to send webpages via Mail? HELP

How can I restore my Safari / Mail settings to allow Safari to recognize Mail so I can resume sending webpages via Mail? It was working OK, then stopped giving me this message: <Safari couldn’t create an email message to send the link because it couldn’t locate an email application. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send email. To do so, you might need to install Mail using the Mac OS X installation CDs.> Did the installation of Firefox take over or change my settings?

Go to Mail > Preferences > General and make sure Default Email Reader is set correctly.

  • I have a Mac connected to Internet via DSL modem. Just bought iPad (today). What hardware do I need to set up wireless LAN so iPad can be used anywhere in house? Will Linksys work with Apple?

I have a Mac connected to Internet via DSL modem. Just bought an iPad2 and need to know what hardware do I need to add wireless LAN so I can use iPad anywhere in the house. Will a Linksys router work with Apple? Can Mac be "hardwired" and iPad wireless? Probably stupid questions but I need to learn. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. You are correct. I was speaking in general terms here based on my experience with the two devices in day to day use, and not in terms of exact specifications.
A better choice would have been to say that the "coverage" is about the same with the edge going to the Extreme....due to the newer mutliple antenna design.
We sure could use more help on the forums. Hope that you will become a regular.
    Hi Bob
RF is a minefield, but one that I have worked in for ages, the most critical factor in my experience is location, location, location!
Better routers have more intelligently designed antenna systems, output power as I said is the same, radiation pattern (coverage) is dependent on antennas and physical location more than all other factors.

  • Wireless LAN driver can't load after BIOS update NB550D

    Hi
I have a new NB550D and have jst installed the recommended BIOS update. Now the Wireless LAN driver can't load (error code 31).
I tried installing the lestest driver off the Toshiba website but it still can't be loaded by Windows...
Everything was fine before this! Any ideas?

    > In the Device Manager the Atheros Wireless is shown
This means that the Wlan driver was installed properly and the issue could be related to configuration between Wlan card and Wlan router.
You should check if the notebook can connect to Wlan router without the usage of any encryption settings.
Disable the WEP/WPA encryption and test the connectivity. Of course this should be done only for test attempts.
Are you sure that the Wlan is enabled? Enable this using FN + F8

  • Can't load certain WEB pages via a wireless internet connection

I have a 17 inch PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.4.8 and am unable to get to certain WEB sites such as Microsoft.com. I have no problem getting to and loading most other WEB sites using Safari, Netscape or Firefox browsers with this computer. I also have 15 inch PowerBook G4 that is running OS X 10.3.9. The 15 inch computer has no problem getting to and loading WEB pages at sites I'm unable to open with my 17 inch G4. My connection to the internet is via a wireless network using Apple's Airport Extreme Basestation to connect to the DSL modem. When I connect my 17 inch G4 directly to the modem, I have no problem loading WEB pages I could not previously load using my wireless network. I trashed the System Configuration folder in the Library/Preferences directory, but this made no difference to my problem.
Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

Are you using the latest Airport driver (check via Software Update)?
Have you tried resetting the Airport unit via AirPort Admin Utility.app in your Applications/Utilities folder?
