Can't locate camera to import

having trouble connecting my canon gl2 so that i can import video.

You do not give nearly enough information... how is the camera connected? Does it show as an option in the import window?
This seems to be a DV camera. My guess is that you may be trying to connect it via USB.
You need to connect it via Firewire for transferring video. USB in these cameras only works for transferring still images.

  • WVC54GCA. Seutp utility can't locate camera on network

I just bought the camera today.  Went through each step of the setup.  When I connect the camera, blue light flashes and then becomes steady.  But then I get a message that says "The setup utility was unabel to locate the wireless-g internet home monitoring camera on your network."  I've gone through those instructions several times, told it to search again, but it never finds it.  My router is a Linksys WRT54G.  I'd appreciate any ideas anybody may have.  Thanks

If it is not detected using the setup CD, then you can configure it manually. Access the setup page of the camera and configure it via the setup page. The wireless settings should be the same with the wireless settings of your router.

  • IMovie can't locate camera!

    Hello,
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated!!
Right now I have a digital camera (Canon IXY) that is recognized by iPhoto. When I plug the camera in and turn it on, iPhoto automatically opens up. But, the camera icon doesn't appear on my desktop - and when I search through my computer I can't find the camera anywhere! I would like to get a video off of the camera and onto my computer, but I can't find my camera in my computer and so are unable to do so!

    Hi
    a. Isn't it so that Your movies also gets imported along with Your photos into iPhoto and
in iMovie can be taken from the Media-Browser and dropped into a Movie project.
    b. Do You connect Your Camera via USB/USB2 ?
    c. Have You tried a Card-reader - There is a Memory-Card in Your Camera ?
If this is put into a Card reader connected to Your Mac. Doesn't it show up
on DeskTop as a White Hard Disk ?

  • Been using Firefox 3.16.18, When I updated to Firefox 5.01, there was no import box to transfer my earlier bookmarks? Where can I locate them, to import them to 5.01 please. Dave

    Hello,
I have been using Firefox 3.16.18 version, but for suddenly it would not open at all. Decided to update to the latest version 5.01, but when I went to import my earlier Firefox bookmarks from 3.16.18, their was no box to import the old bookmarks--just from Oprah and Internet Explorer?
Can somebody help--very important to my work.

When you update or upgrade Firefox from an older version, your bookmarks and other personal data should appear in the new version without you having to do anything. Did you install Firefox 5.0.1 over 3.6.18? Or did you un-install 3.6.18 first? If you did un-install it, I hope you didn't select "remove all my Firefox data and customizations" when doing the un-install - if you did, all that data is gone.
See this support article, to learn how to recover the last automatic bookmark backup that was done while you were using Firefox 3.6.18. <br />

  • Lightroom: Geotags/ locations from iphoto import (using plugin) are not showing in Lightroom and metadata

Hi, I imported my iphotos to Lightroom using the plugin and realised that the geotagging/locations that I did on iphoto did not get transferred.  What is the best way for me to get the geotags transferred without having to geotag all the photos on Lightroom again?  Going forward, I intend to geotag my photos on Lightroom only, how do I make sure they are in the metadata?  Thanks!

    Hi ltjunior,
Where are your images stored on your computer?
Can you locate them, and import them directly from Finder to Lightroom's Library module?

  • Iphoto 11 import problem.  My camera is importing photos as 4x4.  I see a single image in the preview window, but the import is 4x4.  I just imported from a different camera and that one was OK.  I can't find any setting to change to fix this problem

I am having a new problem in IPhoto'11.  An older camera is importing photos as 4x4 (16 copies to a single image).  In the preview pane the photos are fine (single copy per image).  I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting but the problem repeats.  Earlier I had a successful import from a different camera.
I can't find any settings to change this. Help!

Sorry but I do not understand your question
As to importing iPhoto simply copies the photos to the iPhoto llibrary - no changes of any sort are made

  • Can't locate imported iPhoto files in Finder

I recently imported a series of pictures into iPhoto. However I can't locate these picture files on Finder..What happened was I had to fire up iPhoto app each time and right click to 'Show File'. It said the path was user/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals/2007/...
I want to locate these files on Finder, however, when I clicked on user directory user/Pictures/iPhoto Library I can't drill down further. It seems that 'Originals' folder is missing. When I show package contents though, this folder showed up. This is a frustrating experience for me because I can't upload the pictures to the web, or easily find them.
Does anyone has any idea if this is normal behavior or is there a way I can easily access the list of pictures I've imported without firing up the iPhoto? Appreciate any response. Thanks very much.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Does anyone has any idea if this is normal behavior or is there a way I can easily access the list of pictures I've imported without firing up the iPhoto
This is perfectly normal behaviour for v7 of iPhoto. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.
However, better to use one of these:
10.5 users: If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.
Another way to access the files with iPhoto not running, is to create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Otherwise:
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.

  • Can't locate photos imported from iPhone to iPhoto

I imported photos from iPhone to iPhoto. I can see the photos in iPhoto but I can't locate the actual files in Finder. Where are they? All the file names begin with "IMG_" but searching on that produces no results. Thanks.

Why do you want to locate the files via the Finder?  With iPhoto you don't need to.  See these user tips:
How to Access Files in iPhoto
    Exporting From iPhoto
One never needs to access the original files via the Finder with iPhoto.  That's old school, Windows, thinking.

I've a MacBook, iPhoto 09, Kodak Easyshare camera. Importing photos working last wk, but today says can't import unrecognized format but it's jpg. Only change since last wk is I downloaded updates. Works fine if I attach camera to unupdated iMac

What update are you referring to?  If you do a search for "Kodak" in the iPhoto community you'll find numerous posts regarding problems with Kodak cameras.
So far there's no known fix.  The best workaround is to use a card reader with the memory card of the camera.

  • Can not locate iPhoto 9.6 (910.29) files to import into iMovie (10.0.6) on Yosemite (10.10.2)

    Hello,
I am trying to import some photos and movies into iMovie (10.0.6) from iPhoto 9.6 (910.29) but I can't do it. I've searched for solutions but can't figure it out. I can't locate my iPhoto files and it's driving me bonkers! It's probably a very simple solution.
When I use iPhoto I can access all my photos and movies. When I search through Finder I'm unable to locate the files. When I use the "reveal in finder" function in iPhoto it shows the files are only in "iPhoto library" and provides the full file path. When I try to follow the file path and go to Pictures > iPhoto library and click on this it opens iPhoto instead of allowing me to go to the files as in previous versions of OSX.
I can't get to the files through finder, and i can not import them into iMovie (as am trying to follow the same file path).
    Any solutions would be appreciated!
    Thank you.

Either export the photos and movies from iPhoto to a folder on your Desktop and import to iMovie from there,
or use the Media Browser in iMovie:
The "Libraries" panel will show you the iPhoto Library in the sidebar. Import your photos and videos from there. If the "Libraries" sidebar is missing press the keys ⇧⌘1  (Windows > Show Libraries) to reveal it.
This User Tips by Terence Devlin will explain how to use your iPhoto Library from other applications:

  • Can I choose what to import from my camera?

I was just wondering if there was a way to pick and choose specific photos from a digital camera to import to iPhoto.
It seems like an all I can do is either import EVERYTHING on my camera at once, or nothing at all.
    Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks

There is a backdoor to this situation: instead of importing via iPhoto, use your camera's files.
In other words, when iPhoto asks if you want to import the content of your camera, reply 'no'.
Your camera must show an icon on the desktop while it is connected. Select that icon and start burrowing within the files until you find the pictures you want to import. You can slide those pictures first on the desktop, then in iPhoto and voilà!
Alternatively, you can always use the 'Import' command in your File menu. It will ask you where to fetch the pictures. Now you know the path to get to them.
    Hope the trick works well.

  • How can i get final cut see my camera to import video?

my final cut is not seeing my camera to import video? help me?

First, with the camera connected via firewire to your mac, go to applications:  utilities:  system profiler and make sure the firewire is showing the camera.   If not, it's possible the firewire port is burned out on the camera or on the computer.  You can also try swatting out  the firewire cable.
HDV is always a little tricky.  Make sure your easy setup matches your shooting format.  If I remember correctly, the camera may shoot some formats that are not compatible with capturing in fcp.  You can usually display the shooting format in the cameras lcd format.  Let us know what it is.
When you've matched the fcp easy setup to the format you've shot,  quit final cut, start the camera playing with a video signal, and then launch fcp and start log and capture and see if the camera is recognized and if there's video in the log and capture  window.

  • How can I prevent my Camera Archive import from being interrupted by timecode breaks?

I'm trying to create Camera Archives from my old mini-dv tapes. I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV22 connected via FireWire. When I start the Camera Archive import process, everything is fine for a while but then the process stops with a message about a break in the timecode preventing the archiving from completing.
Solutions to this problem I've seen online relied on changing import preferences in Final Cut 7. Unfortunately, I only have Final Cut Pro X and I'm not sure how to control this setting.
I don't really care about timecodes, I just want to dump the entire tape to disk so I have a backup of the tape but the timecode break is interrupting the process and making me get involved a lot more often during the import process.
Does anyone know how to force Final Cut Pro X to push through timecode breaks in a Camera Archive import?

To clarify, this problem is not simply making me get involved more, but is preventing the Camera Archive operation from completing.
