Can't Locate Flash Drive?
I have a PowerBook G4 with Leopard OS and I want to access an older scandisk 256MB "Cruzer Mini." When I plug the flash drive into my USB port, it doesn't appear on my desktop. Can anyone tell me how to find it and use it?
Thanks,
[email protected]
epeck:
With drive inserted in USB port and computer booted go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and launch DU. Look for the drive in the sidebar. If it is not there, you are likely out of luck.

Can I use flash drives to transfer data from one MBP to another at a differ
I've looked and cannot find any info on the use of flash drives. Can I use a flash drive to transfer data from one MBP to another one at a different location? (ie; school Apple and home MBP) Grade tests and papers at home, enter data into home computer, then put it on flash drive and carry flash drive to school, transferring data to school desk top? Are certain flash drives preferrable over others, name brands, size, etc?
Yep, you sure can. Just about any drive will work as mentioned above. But I'm partial to SanDisk and PNY. I've used both and they work great! Currently I carry both a 2GB SanDisk Micro Cruzer and a retractable 2GB SanDisk Cruzer, both really nice. Replaced my oldie but goodie 256MB PNY drive that I've been using since they first came out.

Can I use flash drive in Windows that install on Oracle VM Server
Dear everyone,
I install Windows server 2003 on Oracle VM Server x86. I can use .iso file by copy iso file to /OVS/iso_pools and add resource. But I want to use flash drive on Windows server 2003 that installed on Oracle VM. I don't know how to do or it can do. I want to plug flash drive in Oracle VM Server and can use it on Windows server 2003
Thank you so much for advance
FujimaruIt looks like you will not be able to use it without continually stopping and starting the guest and editing the vm.cfg file to add the physical device once it is mounted on the DOm0

Can i install flash drive in mid-2009 macbook pro
I want to increase the storage on my MacBook pro - mid-2009. I use Final Cut so there are demands. Must I stay with a spinning drive or can I install a large flash drive? I big can I go? 2.26 ghz, 8 gigs ram, running latest Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
ThanksOne option is to remove your DVD drive and install a second drive. So you could have an SSD (flash drive) for speed and a traditional drive for volume. This might be helpful:

How can i use Flash Drive in V880 with Solaris 8
i want mount pen drive(flash drive) in my V880 server where i install Solaris 8. so what is the procedure?
thanksTwo bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.
Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.
On March 1 Apple again blocked Flash Player for Lion and Mountain Lion:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5660
The Adobe Flash patch can be found on Adobe’s website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.
You should uninstall any previous version first, and repair permissions after installing the new version.
If you still get a ‘plug-ins blocked’ message:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5271
You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe. -
Rookie needs help! Can't find flash drive?
I am attempting to move music files from my old dell relic to my macbook air. I am not sure the macbook is seeing the flash drive? Or maybe the deal is I don't know how to find it?
I pulled it out of the USB port and the error message came up that I did not properly eject it....not sure what to do. No icon appears on my desktop or anything.
Can someone help me figure this out?
Would love to be able to hold on to all those music files!
Thanks!
PatriciaHi Dana,
Not sure what OS you are running, but if you are running Mountain Lion, you can go into Finder Preferences, and tell it to show your External Disks, etc. on the Desktop:

Can a USB flash drive be used with iPad?
I have a brand new Retina Display iPad. Is there any way to attack a USB flash drive to it?
Thanks,
Mary AliceI read email attachements without WiFi just fine. I just download them before I have no network connectivity. If you took the trouble to, oh, read the manual or perhaps do a bit of research, you might find that you can do most of what you need to do with your iPad.

OSX Lion can't see flash drive
Since upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro can't see my mini video camera, which includes onboard storage and used to show up as a drive. Has anybody else had a problem with external flash drives not showing up in the Finder?
I had that same problem. If you open up disk utility you can see the name of your flash drive. Then I just spotlight searched for the name of my flash drive and I was able to open it up and get files off of it. I hope this helps.

Can't see flash drive icon on desktop
Why doesn't my Sandisk flash drive icon appear on my desktop when I insert it into my USB port? Thanks.
1. It needs more power than the USB port provides. Try plugging it into a powered hub or a port on the computer itself.
2. It is formatted with an incompatible file system. Check to see if you can select the drive in Disk Utility.
3. The Finder preferences for viewing disks are set to not show this type of device.
4. The file system is corrupted or the device is kaput.

Can't use flash drive with new iMac
We are new Mac users. My husband downloaded a zip file of aviation charts. He needs to transfer the zip file to a flash drive and then to a portable device so that he can use the charts when he flies. We plugged in a flash drive, but it doesn't show up on the desktop or anywhere else. We have looked everywhere on the system. What are we doing wrong? Thanks for your help!
Make sure you have prefs set to show external storage devices on the Desktop and in the Sidebar. To set that, go to Finder's Preferences (Preferences in the Finder menu).
On the General tab in Finder Preferences, checkmark the item "External disks" near the top.
On the Sidebar tab in Finder Preferences, checkmark the item "External disks" under Devices.
You may also need to format the drive before you can use it. You can use Disk Utility to do that (Applications folder > Utilities > Disk Utility). -
Can't get flash drive to work consistently
I am having trouble getting my Buffalo RUF - C/U2 flash drive to work consistently with my iBook. Sometimes it magically connects, other times it doesn't. When it's connected, it works perfectly well. Getting it to work, though, is starting to drive me mad.
I've an iBook, running OSX 10.3.9. Processor 1.2 Ghz Power PC G4. Memory: 768 MB DDR SDRAM. There's about 20 Gb of free space.
I've tried to narrow down the cause of the problem, but with no luck. Re-booting and/or disabling the other USB port doesn't seem to make any difference - neither does attaching the device with the machine powered on or powered off. It seems to have a mind of its own.
Any advice? It is just "VERY" annoying that i can't get it to work.
I found out something by going to www.adobe.com with my iphone 4.0 and search under flash
No wonder i could not figure out what was wrong, the reason for it is that Adobe and Apple is not
very good friends apparently. Or so i could understand, don't take my words for knowing this correctly.
I would still like to know a "date" for when it comes out, currently our whole firm is using Apple Iphone 4.0 cause its nice but, we would really like to be able to make some use of flash for the firm.... So we are thinking about changing our phones out for another model that might be able to do and run flash.

I can't get flash drive to open on my iMac
I poped a flash drive into a usb port on the back of my iMac 27 and nothing happened. I just put it on my windows pc and it opened right up. Wondering why it's not responding on iMac?
Did you format it for the Windows machine? Does it show up in Disk Utility? Is it a protected model?

I wanted to move my home folder to an external drive. I created a new home folder and in advanced options I moved it over. I didn't however move my files over first, my bad. Now I can't see the hard drive on my mac mini. Is it possible to reverse it or get access to the old home folder and is it possible to still use the mac mini's internal hard drive for storage? How do I find my shared folder, it was on the internal drive. I'm new to macs as you might have guessed at this debockle. Can anyone help?
I'm using Mavricks. I wanted to move my home directory to an external and went into sys prop/users/advanced options and moved the folder ok. Being a noobie on Macs I didn't copy my data and such. So my settings were all new. Basicly now I don't see the internal drive on my mini. There is a lot of strage I'm not able to access. The internal drive doesn't show up. How can I put a folder back onto it so it shows up?
