Can't log in as administrator after update

I upgraded to 10.4.8 and now I can't log in as administrator. At the log in screen, it will go away after I enter the passwordand act like it will work, but then the log in screen will appear again. I have a test account that I am still able to log in to. If i try operations that require the administrator password in this account, the password works. I tried turning the automatic log in for the administrator on in the test account and restarting it, but then the gray screen with the circle never goes away. I reset the PMU and now when I log in as administrator, the screen fades to blue, the mouse reappears, and then nothing.

First let's make sure you have the file (in Single User again):
ls -l /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences*This should show both "/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist" and "/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.orig". Then I'd like to know why that "!$" didn't work, so
echo $SHELL(that's just out of interest).
If you do have a "/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist", then:
file /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plistIf this comes back saying "data", let's convert it to text, if necessary, so you can look at it:
plutil -convert xml1 /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plistCheck by doing
file /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plistagain, and make sure it now says "XML document text". Then you can examine the file with:
more /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plistwhich will display one screenful: a space moves to the next screen, a return moves down one line, a "b" moves back one screen in case you overshoot. "q" quits the more program. Look for the line "<key>com.apple.userspref.DisableAutoLogin</key>" which will be near the end.

Not sure what is going on or even if the two are even related. But after performing the 10.6.3 upgrade I can't seem to log in to any of my Google accounts with Safari (4.0.5) which include Gmail, Gvoice or Blogger. I am repeatedly referred to a page explaining how to clear my cashe and cookies. I have performed by actions with no change in results. I have also closed and restarted Safari to see if that made any difference.
This is only a problem with Safari. I am able to log in with Camino, Chrome and FireFox.
Is anyone else experiencing a problem?

Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since it's just Safari...
Since you are running Snow Leopard*, make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64*. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*
  Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
Relaunch Safari. If you still have login problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari.

You can restore the phone and when prompted to restore choose from icloud account. BUT MAKE SURE there is 1.) an icloud backup for your phone. 2.) you are using the same apple id.

Same problem here. After installing iOS 5, restoring, and syncing... when I clicked on the music icon on my iPad, none of my songs were there. All I saw was "download music from iTunes store." But, on iTunes, when I clicked on my iPad icon (then Music), it showed that all of my songs were synced!
So, this is what worked for me, I rebooted my iPad.
I turned off my iPad by holding down the sleep button for about 5 seconds, then the "Slide to power off" came up, and I powered off my iPad.
Then, I started it up again, and clicked on the music icon on my iPad, and now all of my synced music showed up.
I hope this helps some of you guys out there.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Use iTune to update your apps.
Check for Updates (bottom right) in iTune. When download is completed, sync to iPad.

Problem with software update - now can't log on to administrator account

Hello -
I updated software yesterday and didn't pay attention to what was updating. I always just install the updates when they come up.
Now I can't login to my administrator account or change the password. I could log into another account, but iTunes won't stay open. It opens for about 10 seconds then closes.
So I'm assuming that the updates were a mac OSX update and an iTunes update.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix?
Is there anyway to "undo" the most recent update?
Any help would be appreciated.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...

Now, my Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server are running in the domain. It have problem about some one in my team have remote my server with the user administrator while I'm remote it now. It make my session loss. I tried to remote it again but I found
the message at the log on screen about "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because Remote Desktop Services is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes. Other users should still be able to log on."
Now, nobody can't remote with administrator user into this server. I have check the application log. I found the error message like this.

The cause of unable to remote back to the server seems to be services hung, please try to reset session as the article below guides to see if it works:

Can't print using HP P1005 after update to 10.5.7

hi everybody.. I cannot print anymore after updating to 10.5.7
if I open the printer's queue it just says 'Opening Printer Connection' and right next to the print job it says printing..... but nothing happens...
I have tried reinstalling its drivers using the latest ones available from hp.com
but nothing.... still won't work....

Open the 'Print and Fax' System prefpane and Ctrl-click on the list of printers on the left and select 'Reset Printing System'. Then add the printer again in the usual fashion.

Contacts can also be synced over the air with an email account that supports this, and there are a number of free accounts that do including an Apple iCloud account, a Gmail account, a Yahoo account, and a Hotmail account. If you have tried all the tricks everyone suggests and your contacts are not available anywhere else, they are gone.

Can't convert MIDI to mp3 after update to iTunes 6.0.2

I had no troubles in the past converting Midi to mp3 in iTunes, but after updating to 6.0.2 I get an "unknown error" (-50) when trying to do so. This occurs on both machines, my iBook (OS 10.3.9) and my iMac (10.4.4). Can anyone help me?

I have exactly the same experience. Similar setup to yours. This is obviously a bug. All we can do is report it to Apple Bug Reporting:

Can't read attached .eml files after update to 10.2.0.429

Hello all
we have 2 z10 in office. I did the upgrade first, and since them MOST (not all) af the regular mail with attached .eml files we receive from a governmental source cannot open (to be clear, those are regular mails containing another mail as attachment)
It shows the regular orange "envelope" icon, but when you click on it, the screen darken for a moment, and nothing happens.
The other Z10 (same serie) went on for more than a month to open with not problems all of the VERY SAME mail and their attachments.
Now, after updating the 2nd device, the same problems occurs to it.
Any clue? Those attachment are really important for us

Can you please tell me where you found a previous version of iCloud to download? I can not find a download that doesn't want to download a zillion other programs too
I also wanted to confirm with you that I have to first delete the new version of iCloud before I install the older version, correct?
Lastly, is there anything else I have to do other than delete the old and install the new? I'm not at all tech savy but desperate to have my phone and pc calendars sync again so I'm willing to try.....
