Can't log in as the Administrator on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hello,
I have a windows server 2008 R2 (DCSERVER) as the domain controller and about 10 Windows 7 Client machines on the network. I also have configured a WSUS server & File Server on this machine. Everything was working fine, until I added another Windows
7 Machine to the domain. I couldn't login to the domain and got the error "the security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust". I looked up on Google and tried some tricks - mainly adding the
attributes DNSHostName & ServicePrincipalName to the affected computer and the deleting the computer from the group
(since the previous trick didn't work).
But after trying the above I observed that I can't login to my DCSERVER either. I get the same error - "the security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust"
Please help me fix this issue.

Hi,
Thanks for your post.
According to your description, you cannot login the domain from Windows 7 client.
Please refer to the following article for troubleshooting:

  • Administrators unable to write to a text file created by another Administrator on Windows Server 2008.

Why are Administrators unable to write to a text file created by another Administrator on Windows Server 2008?
--- The Administrators already have full control so how do I fix this? ---
Example:  On a Windows Server 2008 (SP1): user A (who belongs to the Administrators group) logs in and creates a directory C:\foo and creates a file readme.txt in the foo directory.  User B (also a member of the Administrators group) logs in and opens C:\foo\readme.txt in notepad. User B types something and tries to save the file. User B cannot save the file…an option to save as some other file name is presented. The security permissions of C:\foo\readme.txt show that Administrators have full control.
Work around 1: Explicitly add user B to have full control over the foo directory. The problem is that all the all other Administrators still need to be added (current and future).
Work around 2: Change the Users security permission to be full control on the foo directory. (this seems dangerous!)
It is interesting to not that this same procedure is not a problem in Windows Vista. (Any insight about the difference?)
    Sincerely,
    Ian

so there is no way to change this without literally shutting down the UAC?
I have files that  I need to modify all the time, and it is very annoying to have to save as to my desktop modify and then copy and paste the file again.
I would also rather not give myself permissions to the entire C:\ Drive even specified Folders or documents, etc......
You can change these settings without bringing down the UAC

  • Can't install Adobe Reader using Firefox on Windows Server 2008 R2

I am hoping someone can kindly help me out here.
Using Firefox I went to http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and clicked the download button and received the Getplus add-on to Firefox.
When Firefox restarts the getplus window opens but sits there and does nothing with the window remaining blank for ever..
Each time I try it is the same
I am logged into Windows Server 2008 R2 as Administrator but it might be a permissions problem as this is a new install of 2008 and seems pretty locked down.
    Thank you in advance

  • The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 (64) vs MS Office 2007)

We just have switched our local server from 32-bit to 64-bit machine and now we have Windows Server 2008 R2 Service
Pack 1 with MS Office 2007. On server we are running an application in ASP.Net 3.5 using visual studio
2008. All users have 32-bit windows 7 and MS Office 2007.
when user tries to import data from Excel to Database (SQL Server 2005), error comes as
"microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0 provider is not registered on local machine".
I have tried a solution by installing Access Database Engine 2007 Office System Driver on the Server, but the error
was same. Now what should I do to resolve this problem??? Should we install Office 2010 64-bit on the Server or is there any other solution???

  • Can I install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ed.?

    Hi, SDN experts.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2?
I checked the the software requirement for SAP Solution Manager 7.0, it only mentioned Window Server 2003 and 2008  enterprise edition.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition?
When I ran the Solution Manager Master Installer, the Pre-requisite Checker gave a warning message saying that it detected incompatible server version, that the server version is Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (I guess it meant Window Server 2008 R2).
    =======
The following Windows operating system version is supported: Windows Server 2003 (i.e. Version 5.2) and Windows Server 2008 (i.e. Version 6.0).
Current Windows version: Version 6.1, Service Pack 1.0, productive type: Server.
You can check the current version of you operating system by runningu2026u2026..
    ========
Can I actually install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2? Will this cause problem during the installation/post-installation if I ignore this message?
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi,
I think it is not straight forward to install SAP Solution Manager 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2.
I am installing Solution Manager 7.0 , the installation encountered error on Create Java Users step (Phase 31 of 44). When I login to SAP solution Manager system through SAP GUI. I encountered this error:
"OS release Windows NT 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 4x AMD64 Level 6 (Mod 44 Step 2) is not supported with this kernel (700)'
I found that it is because I am installing SAP Solution Manger 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2, which the existing kernel version does not support.
Do you know which kernel I should install?
    I browsed in:
SAP Application Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0" Entry by Component" Solution Manager ABAP Stack
    SAP KERNEL 7.00 64-BIT UNICODE --> Windows Server on x64 64bit -->MS SQL SERVER
    I downloaded:
SAPEXEDB_291-20001361.SAR      Kernel Part II (for Basis 7.00)       291
Is this the right Kernel patch I should use?
If it is the right kernel patch file, how do I apply the latest kernel to existing Solution Manager system? Can you give me some guidance on this?
    Thanks,
    KC

  • Where can I get some realtime lab scenarios for Windows Server 2008 R2?

I want to develop my skills in Windows Server 2008 R2, so I need some real time scenarios and solutions. Suggest me some sites for that. So I can learn and practice with real time scenarios. For example: In XXX Company Domain Controller, deploy a File Server
and map drive the folders for particular users, etc. So,I will work on that scenario and deploy the services in a Lab environment. Like this there must be a lot of scenarios which will help me a lot...I need scenario questions (&solutions if it was available)
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    We have
Technet virtual labs for various versions of OS. Search for Win 2008 R2 labs.
Or else build own test lab at your place and test it. MS providing evaluation versions of all new OS products make use of it.

  • Lost the licenses of Windows Server 2008.

I had windows server 2008 OEM which I downgrade to Windows Server 2003 OEM since some of my applications were not compatible with it.
Now again I want to upgrade to 2008 OEM but I have lost some of the product keys, therefore can you let me know is there a way to retrieve it.

    Hi,
If a license is lost, damaged in fire/flood or stolen, new licenses needs to be purchased as there is no way of replacing those licenses as Microsoft does not keep track of the licenses.
I would suggest you to contact Microsoft Activation center to get accurate assistance for licensing :

  • Window SBS server 2008 and window server 2008 R2 on the same domain

    Hi all,
I am a person only work for linux system. Recently i work for my company that using microsoft technologie. So i have a lot of trouble. Could you please help me and below are my big troble that i have met:
In my system, i have the first window SBS server 2008 run on our domain. However my organization growth up and we have more than 150 users and mailbox of exchange server 2007. So i do not want to use my sbs server 2008 anymore.
I am going to install a window server 2008 R2 64 bit and join it into the same domain with sbs server 2008. It will be replicate the username, dns, OU and group policy...After that i will tranfer FSMO role to new server and i will demote then remove the
    sbs server.
My boss say that i should not use this solution because window server sbs can not run with any other kinds of window server 2008 (R2, standard, enterprise...) and it will automatically shutdown the main server after a couple of days.
Someone have experience can help me. I am so confuse now

Maybe this will also help to better understand the steps involved:

And remember, as long as you don't move the PDC to one of the new DCs, you can leave the SBS 2008 up indefinitely. But I would remove Exchange 2007 off it right away once I've migrated the mailboxes and public folders, otherwise
you will get yourself into an Exchange coexistence scenario which is much more complex to configure and support because of the CAS differences, changing the URLs on the old one to "legacy.domain.com," getting a new UC/SAN cert with the correct
names on it, and more. Believe me, you really don't want to coexist them. The only time I've coexisted Exchange versions is during large migrations, such as 500 or more. Otherwise, I just migrate the mailboxes over a weekend and get it done with.
