Can't log in on application (PC - Win7) - correct username and password; works on the web page

I have a big problem. I cannot log in on the Skype application on my PC (Win 7). The password is correct and so is the user name. I've tried logging in via both my microsoft, skype and facebook accounts but it doesn't work. The strange thing is that it works in the internet page. I've tried to change password many times but it doesn't resovle the issue. When logging in with the Skype account I'll get the message "Could not connect" (In Swedish).When logging in with the Facebook and Microsoft account I'll get the message "Sorry, we don't know your loggin information - Please controll your Skype-name and password". The Skype application say it is up to date when using the function "Search for updates" in the "Help" drop down list.

I've got the same problem. The same on one PC I've got 6.11 version ... and uninstall/download & install reseled the problem BUT, on anoter PC I have 6.20 version, and that one did not sigh me up, untill I have clicked recovery/get email/clicked on received link. - That is strange and annoing, but, even more unfear and discusting: - The version 6.20 also replays 'You have latest version'! And on skype site it is not shown up the current version, which is today 6.21.59.104 My opinions: 1: it is inappropriate to disallow old version to see the newest version number 2: the same even with more reasonability applied to 'still suppoted version', as 6.20 I guess is for today! 3: What is it the way to restrict access to user account WITHOUT any explanation why!!! - it must say 'it is old version and we closed acces to our site; update to current, which is ....'(if Skype comunity have trouble to prepare a page with such message as a redirection for not-up-to-day version I could help; or my children could ... or it is an issue to place it ?!)

I'm not sure about the status of that bug in 2.2.5, but it has been
resolved in our internal 2.3 builds.
I think that you can work around this problem by enumerating your
persistent types in system.prefs instead of in the data store. See our
documentation for more information on how to do this.
Basically, if I recall correctly, the problem is when retrieving the
list, but not when connecting to the data store for other purposes.

IPhone won't let me log onto any site which requires a username and password

My iphone 4 (ios5) has stopped letting me log onto any website which requires a username and password. They have all worked in the past but have stopped working. My iPad is fine.
It happens if i am connected to wifi or 3g.
Has anyone else suffered this?
I have restarted the phone and done a backup and restore.
Any advice would help.

Sorted it. In settings - safari - privacy was set not to accept any cookies. I have changed that to accept from visited. Now working ok again.

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

How do I stop Firefox entering my username and password into other fields on pages that are not the log-in page?

On a website I need for my work, I must log-in with username & password. Firefox remembers my name & password perfectly. However, in another section on that same website, when I am filling in calendar information, it enters my my username in the "Location" field. Unfortunately, that is my work ID which is confidential. When I don't notice, it posts it on the very public calendar. Also, it enters my password into a password field (masked), so that no one can rsvp.
It doesn't appear that I can edit the Saved Passwords/Exception in Firefox Options, so I am looking for suggestions!

If there is a password field on a web page and you have saved a password then Firefox may try to fill that password and enter the name in the field just above that password field.

Can I use a stored procedure to validate a username and password?

We are using Discoverer on a standalone server but we have a database link to our reporting database.
Our standalone Discoverer is on a 10g database with a database link. Our reporting database is an 9i database using oracle applications. I have a stored procedure that i can call to validate username and password in the apps.
Is there anyway to call that stored procedure from Discoverer so that my users don't have to have 2 different passwords?

Let's rewind this discussion for a sec as I have not the faintest idea what you're referring to with the dblinks, query prediction, etc.
I didn't think that was the main thrust of the thread and thought it was if the user could validate a username and password. If they happen to use a dblink, that's another issue.
1. What I"m referring to as good design is the concept of the eul$ triggers that Discoverer offers (the link offered by the user before my response).
I like triggers in Forms, I like trigger in Reports - and I like them in Discoverer. I think they potentially have a great use - the problem is finding that use.
One use I can forsee is setting up an environment or table everytime one enters Discoverer. Or maybe some cleanup after Discoverer is exited (ie: delete that setup table).
2. You mentioned dblinks.
What do I think about 'em? Don't know ... don't care. Haven't had to work with them too much and until that point comes - I'm not worried about them either way.
3. You mention query prediction.
What do I think about it? IMO, turn the darn thing off. I don't really care what it's SUPPOSED to do according to Oracle - in 9 out of 10 client sites I go to ... it's not doing it. It's waste time, processing power, coffee time, whatever ... to come up with a bogus estimate that makes Discoverer looking like a toy.
For example:
prediction time: it takes 6 minutes to come up with an estimate
prediction: Query will take 364 days, 11 hours, 9 minutes, 18 seconds. Do you wish to continue?
me: Duh ... okay.
query runs for: 1 minute, 2 seconds
It's like a Vulcan in that it's incredible detailed on it's assessment on how long it will take. Unlike a Vulcan though, it's completely bogus. Sure it supposed to be better over time but again - in 9 out of 10 client sites I go to, it's a joke and once turned off ... the client couldn't be happier.
So again, let's rewind here. Maybe I'm missing something, but I had no idea this thread was angling to dblink and query prediction, but my views on what I thought we were talking about are above.

Can you please send more infomation on exactly what is failing? Are you trying to execute asadmin commands?
Also, which platform are you running the appserver on? Does the appserver show up in the list of currently running processes?
I believe that the default username is "admin" and the password is "adminadmin".

I can't open hotmail. After I write my e-mail addres and password becomes frozen the windows page log in.

Recently I installed firefox in my MacBook Pro. When I need to open hotmail page log in to check my e-mails sometimes I can reach the page others time is frozen don't go through. Others time I reach the page log in through google search but when I am on the log in page, I write down my email address and password press log in or click enter but nothing hapen.

Web application security. Getting username and password from database

I need to write the following web application (I write it using java server faces):
1) User enters his username/password on the login page
2) Program goes to database where there are tens of thousands of usernames/passwords, and verifies it.
3) If user and password exist in DB, user gets access to the other pages of the application
Maybe I don't understand some point. I tried to use j_security_check(it's very easy to configure secured pages in web.xmp). The problem is that it works(as far as I understand) only with roles defined on server before the application runs. I can't add ALL these usernames to the roles on server. The best way, as I see it, is to go to DB, check username/password, create new role for the time of session, go to j_security_check where the j_username and j_password get the values from db and get the access to secured pages(as far as the roles have been dinamically added).
Am I right and this should be the algorithm?
How can I implement it?
I've read about JAAS. How can it help to solve the problem? Do I need j_security_check if I use JAAS? How should I configure my application if I use it?
Could you please give me some code example?
All this must work on IIS (for now, I develope it in Netbeans and run it on Java Application Server)

Any security constrained url pattern which calls the action j_security_check passes the parameter to the realm mentioned in the server.xml.If the realm is set as JAAS,then the authenticate method of the jaasrealm does the basic validation like non empty field value from the input form.The appname set as the realm parameter points to the one or more loginmodules which has the life cycle methods like initialize(...),login(),commit(),abort() and logout().Once the basic validation is done in the JaasRealm class of the webcontainer,the LoginContext is created and user is autheticated (against DB username/password) via the login().Then the user is authourised in the commit().Then Jaasrealm takes care of creating the LoginContext,calling login(),creating Subject with principals,credentials added and setting that in the session.
I have a big trouble in accessing the HttpServletRequest object in the LoginModules.i.e getting the j_username and j_password in the LoginModules or in the CallBackHandlers.PolicyContext doesn't work for me.Is there any other way?

The outgoing mail server should be smtp.aol.com. This is the correct server setting. Try using another server under Other Server. Turn the Primary Server Off and use another server under Other SMTP Servers.

Is there a way to create a pdf so that it automatically logs in with a default username and password so that the user is not prompted upon opening?

No, there is no way set a default user name and password, but as an alternative you can set your policy to be "Anonymous Access", meaning that there is no authentication (of the user) required to open the document, but you can still control (i.e. prevent printing) what the "anonymous" user can do to\with the document.

I am integrating CRM Online and SharePoint Online. Right now I am using Office365 trial version for both. Hence, the same username and password works for both.
I want to create sub-site in SharePoint on create of an entity record. Currently, I am passing the admin credentials. But, I want to pass the credentials of the currently logged-in user in CRM to the plugin which is getting executed on create of account entity.
So that I can then create sub-site in SharePoint using the current user credentials instead of admin credentials.
Is there way to achieve this?

You would not be able to get login/password of currently logged in user. I believe usage of admin credentials is the best way to achieve your goal.
