Can't Log-In to FaceTime...Help!

Hi Gurus... I've been using FaceTime successfully for years...then about 2 weeks ago , I opened FaceTime on my Air (10.8.5) and was greeted with a request to enter my Apple ID and Sign In... Did so... Panel appeared asking for FaceTime pasword with sub-text saying to use Apple ID...Did so...same panel re-appeared... Repeated...same result. Again and again....Weird. Decided to select Create New Account option... same result. Eventually get red-colour messages saying "Registration cancelled" and "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again"... and so a fortnight of frustration has followed. Fortunately, FaceTime works perfectly on my iPhone...even since installing IOS7.
Any help... preferably explained in step-by-step/idiots-guide format would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Same thing has happened to me. I created a new password in the 'manage apple ID' and now facetime logs on, asks me to verify email, but stops after email is verified. it doesn't continue onto another screen, or allow me to move forward. I can only go back to username and password screen again.

I use a family Apple ID for App Store, iTunes Match and photostream but use individual Apple IDs for reminders and contacts. The problem is, on my ipad I can't log in to FaceTime with my personal Apple ID. It will only allow me to log in with my primary Apple ID (the family ID). On my iphone it works because I associate FaceTime and iMessage with my cell number.

For some reason, a Mac using Facetime needs to be set to the time zone it is in. It could possibly have something to do with the FT routers that your call is guided to. In any case there were two Facetime users I know of, that got their Facetime working by resetting to the proper time zone. I surely hope this works for you so you can start talking to your folks "across thepond."

What exactly do you mean with 'I can't log off'?
Typically you wouldn't use Thunderbird on a public computer.

Thank you for the advice and for pointing out that it may be an Apple ID issue. However, calling the 1(800) number directly did not provide an option to select "Apple ID". I think this occurred because I called from the telephone number filed on my account, which automatically pulls up my account information when I call, and didn't allow further assistance since my Apple Care has expired. The only option offered was to pay. So, I searched online for Apple ID Support, which provided Apple Call Back support, and I was able to resolve the matter.

I recently deleted my filevault from my bf's username, and now cannot log into my account. He can still log in, and I can log into my other account. I would just use the other account I have set up but all my music, photos etc are on my account that I cannot access
I've been looking for solutions online, and managed to log into my Root User account but when I go to Macintosh HD > Users (as the internet told me) my user name isn't there so I cannot follow the guide to get it working again
Please help this is driving me crazy, and making me reach a point where I want to get rid of this Mac and buy a PC - because I cannot resolve any issues I have!!

I think yur best bet is to contact the Music store customer service. They have access to your accounts and will be able to understand why it didn't let you log in the first time.

I can't log in on Facetime on my ipod touch! Help?

So I tried logging in on FacTime on my iTouch and it kept saying 'incorrect password', so I reset my password and tried again, and it still wouldn't work. I've resetted my password like 3 times. I have facetime on my macboook, and I can login perfectly fine on that. It's just my itouch that isn't working. I've tried restarting my itouch, still didn't work. What can I do?

thank you for the reply. I tried that but for some reason my FaceTime, iMessage, and Apple ID all logged out by themselves and that is why I can't access them. I've had this iPod for over a year so activation isn't a problem just attempting to log back into everything is the issue. it's been this way for about 12 hours and the same thing is happening to my brother's iPod touch. we also both use the same wifi connection.

I just changed my AppleID pw. I can log into iTunes and this discussion group OK, so I know the PW is good, but FaceTime consistently gives me the msg "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." I never had any problem before Apple pushed the latest upgrade. I used to be able to log into FaceTime without presenting my pw (except for the very first time, of course), but after the upgrade a pw was demanded. The old pw for my AppleID did not work so I set up a new pw, which works elsewhere. But I still can't get FaceTime going, and it's been a couple of days.

i use my apple id on the app store and itunes all the time, and i was able to use facetime just once. then after i upgraded to the latest version of ios7, i'm required to enter my apple id and password but not it says invalid username/password, even if i've used them many times.
