Can't log into MacBook pro
I was having internet trouble, so I restarted my computer. When I get to the login screen I see my picture and the guest user. I try to log onto my user and nothing happens. Usually it asks me to type in my password, this isn't happening. Can one one please tell me how to get back onto my computer without losing all my files I am in my second week of school and don't want to lose all my notes please help.

Spinning wheel when trying to log into Macbook Pro 17" connected to 27" thunderbolt display
I've got a 17" Macbook Pro connected to a brand new 27" Thunderbolt display. When I attempt to log in from user screen I consistently get the spinning wheel of death and have to power down on frequent basis. More a nuisance than anything but with the amount of money invested on the components in front of me this seems slightly silly. I can use this work around pretty easily, but my wife isn't real swift when it comes to these things so I'm looking for a long term fix.
lRlevolution,
if your hard drive has failed, then no amount of resetting the SMC will fix your hard drive — you’ll need to purchase a new hard drive (or SSD), format it in Disk Utility, install it in place of the old one, and install OS X on it. (If you plan on installing it yourself, you’ll need a T6 Torx screwdriver to remove the four screws from your current hard drive and put them in your new drive.) Is there a reason to believe that there might be a motherboard issue involved? -
I just got my MacBook Pro monday and did everything that needed to be done today.
It's registured, apple id is done and verified, and apple care protection program is done as well.
I was away from my MacBook for a short while and when I came back I had to sign back in. The password I picked out didn't work, but it did earlier. So after a few tries, I was given the option to change my password with my Apple ID, so I thought to try that. Problem is, for some reason, my Apple ID doesn't work either.
I looked for a few solutions, but I can't seem to find one that pertains to my situation.
I appreciate any and all help.Solved!
Please go ahead and delete this... If possible. -
Why can I log into some websites on my MacBook Pro and not on my MacPro?
Only just started happening...I have used 3 different browsers on my MacPro and still can't log into some webpages where a password is required.
Flickr, eBay, some on line shopping sites....
i have deleted cookies, cache, history, everything. Reinstalled the application (Firefox and Safari) but nothing.
Go to my new MacBook Pro and it connects..
I plan to do a full combo download and install of 10.6.8 however can't work out what's broken? I use Virus Barrier and MacScan but have (I believe) turned them off. Thanks for the advice everyone.
Working through them without much luck...
New user didn't help.
Have turned off MacScan.
No improvement as yet.
P.S. Not sure how MacScan and Virus Barrier X would interact as they seem to do different things... I got both of these as apps in bundles so didnt really specifically buy them.
I can't see any proxy setting in network preferences so will need to go into virus barrier and check.
Reading the "recommended text" on Virus's for homework.
Tomorrow it will be Appzapper for them both if the patient shows no sign of improvement. -
I have created three new users without Apple IDs and they can't log into either of my Macbook Pro or Mac Mini running Mountain Lion. These accounts are for my kids and originally were setup with parental controls and time constraints. Thinking this was the problem I removed the time constraints, removed the parental controls, deleted and re-added them, and made them standard users. I have reinstalled, used disk utility to repair permissions, and made them admins. Any help is appreciated.
Users don't need Apple ID's. That's not the issue. Have you tried repairing permissions their accounts?

Repairing User Permissions in OS X Lion
You’ll need to reboot to perform this, and then use the same resetpassword utility that is used to change passwords in Lion, but instead choosing a hidden option.
When you use the Disk Utility app and Repair Permissions — it doesn’t actually repair the permission settings on folders and files in your Home folder where your documents and personal applications reside.
In Lion, there is an additional Repair Permissions application utility hidden away. This tool is located inside boot Repair Utilities. Here’s how to access it.
Restart Lion and hold down the Command and R keys. You will boot into the Repair Utilities screen. On top, in the Menu Bar click the Utilities item then select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and hit Return.
The Password reset utility launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on the icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the drop-down below it, select the user account where you are having issues.
At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The reset process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. Notice that ‘Spotlight’ starts re-indexing immediately. -
How can I stop my Macbook Pro 3,1 (2008 model) from logging off randomly?
Hello,
Does anyone know how I can I stop my Macbook Pro from logging out randomly? (version 3,1, 2008 ish). I recently installed Snow Leopard on an upgraded hard drive (did both at the same time)---and now my machine has been randomly logging my out.
I believe this problem has happened to a lot of folks, who linked it to a WindowServer Error. Here is what my log looks like for (what I think) is the problem:
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

My best guess at this point is that this just the same "NVIDIA gldAttachDrawable" bug referenced in many posts, but that it can be triggered by different conditions/programs.

wheel of doom spinning before I can log into the pro. So signing in was a panic attack in itself.
Never happened before.
The wheel has started to show up spun a lot when i was using it yesterday and slowed down general usage.
what is happening to the mac and what can I do to bring it back to life (before the rainbow wheel of doom)If this has started happening suddenly without your having made any changes to your configuration, the it's likely that the boot drive is failing, or that there's some other hardware fault. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test.
Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test
Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly. -
I can't log into itunes. I first established my account on a Macbook but am now using a PC (Dell XP). Can you help me?
HI,
The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

Are you saying you're running Windows in BootCamp or Windows as a Virtual Machine? You can increase the fan speed on the Mac using smcFanControl and use the software OGELTHORPE recommended to observe improvements.
smcFanControl is a Mac application and doesn't work in Windows, but if you set a higher minimum fan speed (which is how smcFanControl works) while running OS X, when you reboot into a BootCamp partition, that minimum speed tends to be carried over. -

Please help - I've upgraded to ML 10.8 (and also 10.8.1) and i can not log into icloud.
I get an error saying "You can not log in at this time". I have no hair left on my head because I've pulled it all out!
Now, there are many published fixes for this, but NONE work. I've tried everything I can find:
Yes, I have an AU and US apple ID, and both dont work
I installed ML from a fresh disk wipe + install. No baggage from previous OS's.
Everything is standard, no tricky fixes or apps
No Little snitch installed
Have deleted the ~/Library/App Support/iCloud folder
Have deleted any preference files
Have opened up the permissions on the ~/Library/Caches/iCloud folder
Have reset keychain
Have deleted all references of any @me or @apple accounts
Have re-installed the ML OS from a DIFFERENT bootable USB stick
No proxies, SOCKS, or mods to network
Plain old home WIFI network, never had a problem
Have icloud successfully set up at work (QC 2.8GHZ Mac Pro 2010), on my iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro - Zero issues
The mac having problems is a 2008 iMac, Core2Duo 2.8ghz Intel w 4gb 1067mhz ram) - Runs well, use for design.
Is it a problem with the iCloudHelper process not having sufficient permission to write to the iCloud user DB? or the Accounts folder?
Have looked into console, and when I try and log into iCloud, I get these three errors. Same every time, no matter which apple ID account you use:
1: AOSKit ERROR: (System Preferences[352]) AOSKC ([email protected]): Failed to store key, couldn't add kc item, error 100013 (service=iCloud, dsid=146089737)
2: AOSKit ERROR: (System Preferences[352]) AOSKC ([email protected]): Failed to store account info key (dsid=146089737).
3: AOSKit ERROR: (System Preferences[352]) Failed to store account info for appleID=[email protected]
Please help! Is this an incompatibiloty with the iMac problem, or a ML problem?
Much appreciated
RickWhere EXACTLY are you trying to log in to it?
Through your web browser at iCloud.com?
Or through the iCloud system preferences pane on your Mac? -

I can't log into my icloud account from my MacBook Pro, I keeps taking me to set-up window, I've been using it for years, I running 10.7.5, it's turned on, can't get on with my iphone either also takes me to the setup window. Also can get support as there help page won't recognize my serial number even when copy/pasted?
Hi
https://appleid.apple.com/
and
https://www.icloud.com
are two different accounts
Therefore you should still use your "old" (existing) iCloud mail address - you cannot change the iCloud mail address.
However you could add an alias instead to you iCloud account.

Agree with baltwo, though even if you have saved the install app I wouldn't use it unless its been used to install a known good copy of the OS already.
In your case, that probably means start fresh:
Restart the computer, holding down 'command' and 'r'. When the recovery disk window shows, choose 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. -
I can not boot my MacBook Pro running on Lion 10.7.4. I pressed control, comment P and R keys and O got to the disk utility, then I tried to repair disk and it can not be repaired. I get a message that tells me to back up as much data as possible ?. But if I can not open the computer how can I save my data??
I have a back up until 2 weeks ago on time machine. but the work of the last 2 weeks is extremely important how can I get it??
If I use m time machine backup do I loose the additional data of the last two weeks!,
Please help.. It's a huge amount of work that I have done and can not loose itIf it were me, I'd get a new hard drive or SSD and put it in an external enclosure. Boot into the recovery partition, format the new drive (not the old one) and install the OS to it. Shut down the Mac, open it up, and swap the drives. You may be able to read your data from the old one externally if you're lucky. If you're very lucky you may be able to use Migration Assistant to move all your stuff to the new drive.
Look at ifixit.com for the exact procedure to get to the drive on your model. If it's a unibody it's pretty simple.

Although that may be true with some inverters it is not for all of them. If the inverter can get enough power to invert you can run a power saw off them, depending on the size of the inverter.
Problems start because people buy the lowest cost unit they "THINK" will work based on the printed specs when in fact they need a bigger unit.
