Can't log into my main user acct! How can I fix this? Help, I'm stumped!

OK, here's the problem. While using my machine with VMware, I got the beachball of death. Nothing would respond and no keystrokes would bring up force quit. I finally had to press and hold start to shutdown.
When I restarted my machine first the grey screen came up and then a grey progress line was shown and finally completed. After that, the regular log in screen came up.
Here is where the problem begins. When I go to log in, (enter my password) it pauses briefly and then a blue screen comes up for a moment, and then it returns to the log in screen. This is a never ending cycle and the same thing happens if I shutdown and restart.
I can however log in into the guest account OK
Here's what I've done so far. Opened Disk Utility from guest acct and repaired permissions and reset PRAM. So far no luck,
If all attempts to log in fail, can I access my main user files from the guest account? I suppose if I have to reload everything I can restart in Target mode and get everything off to an external HD.
Please, if you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!!!

Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store (on the iPad) also?
Note that any items purchased with your old ID are permanently tied to it and cannot be transferred to the new one.

The first thing you should do is contact your carrier and make sure that your account is properly provisioned to send text messages.

Restart your computer while holding down left mouse key. That will eject the CD and your Mac will start as normal.

IMovie and iPhoto App Store update has alternate email address for user name. how do I fix this??

The most recent updates to iPhoto and iMovie, that are in the App Store updates, has my alternate email address for my user name. I can't log into the update because I don't know the password. I have changed my user name to reflect the correct email address, but it still prompts as the alternate email address. Any ideas as how to fix??

I transferred files from a NAS server to the Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server and now some of the files have Custom Access and can't be opened by some users. How do I fix this?

We're setting up our Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server, and in the process transferred files that had been stored and accessed from our Blackarmor NAS server over to the Mac. These files were all created on PC's and are Office Excel files, WordPerfect files or PDF's. When you look at the files on the Mac from the Mac and bring up Get Info for the affected file, it says that the file has Custom Access. The files that work properly don't have that configuration. I can access and open the files on some computers, but some users can't open the files from their computer even though they can see it. We're all using PC's and they get the Error: Access Denied-Contact your administrator--or something similar. I've seen on the web similar issues and it may have something to do with ACL permissions. I don't know enough about Mac OS to understand this, but what is baffling is that they can be opened from some PC's but not others, and all of the Users have the same accessibility to the files. Thanks for a solution!!

If you're running Mac OS X 10.9, it's in the Mac App Store. If your computer's incapable of running Mac OS X 10.9, install it from the computer's original disks.
If you don't want to upgrade to 10.9 for some reason and you got 10.7 or newer with the Mac, go to the Mac App Store main page, click on Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.

Every time I log in to my icloud account, I get an email notifying me that I have done so. I don't want this and can't figure out how to stop receiving them.

You can't actually stop them. If they are coming to your iCloud address you could go to the iCloud website, go to the Mail page, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left, choose 'Rules' and set up a Rule to move all messages from [email protected] to another folder you previously created, or the Trash. If they are coming to a non-Apple address you can do the same thing in the Mail app on your Mac (presumably also on mobile devices though I don't know about that).

When I tried to uprgrade to Mountain Lion, my computer told me my HD was damaged. I'm right now using my external as my main HD. How do I fix this??

Last ight I downloaded (and paid for) Mountain Lion thinking it was going to be a simple uprgade. Naive I know.
In the process of restarting my computer, I got a message saying I have an error on my HD. When I checked it in disk utility, it said my HD is damaged. It wouldn't let me start my computer on it. I had to use my time machine restore point but then it used my other partitioned side as the HD to restart my computer. What do I do to get my mac HD back??

Ok, boot to Partition B and use the Finder Go> Computer and open your Partition A and grab your files, make another duplicate backup of your files to a regular storage drive and disconnect.
When that's completed use Disk Utility to select Partition A and erase with the middle selection and wait it out, it's zeroing the partition and mapping off bad sectors. You might have to use the command r boot to use the Recovery Partition.
Hold Command r keys while booting to enter Recovery and install 10.7 or 10.8 whatever, onto Partition A.
This is assuming your problem is located in your Partition A, which I suspect as your booting fine into Partition B, thus your GUID partition table, Recovery and EFI partitions (hidden) seems to be ok.
However you also should make one of these, this will allow you to boot from the USB and really wipe the entire drive, instead of partition to partition wiping like your doing now, this is in case your problem is located in the hidden partitions I've mentioned.

Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. (Is this wiping) See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. (you mayhave done this by wiping)

I have a new MacPro, and I would like to stop my desktop photo from changing every time I shut down, or lock my computer. It's truly annoying.

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
Look for these three files.
com.apple.screensaver.plist
com.apple.desktop.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Right click each one of those and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
Restart the computer.

When i am in certain apps, some with using internet and some not, shuts down and goes back to the main page. how do i fix this or what is the problem?

After my routine software update to 10.7.5, I can't log into my main log-in id. Whenever I put my password in, it takes me back to the log-in screen. First, check the caps lock on your PC keyboard. I know this sounds a bit silly, but we've all done it. If it turns out caps lock was on, then just enter all caps on the iPad.
If that's not the problem, try opening Notes and type your password sonyouncan see it. If you're not getting what you expect, try slowing down.
Let me know how that goes, andvI'll try to come up with a few more troubleshooting options.
