Can't Login (even though password correct)

Sometimes when I make a new password and try to login, it says the password is incorrect.  I've even made the password my hint to ensure I've type it correctly and it still doesn't work.  I've experienced this on at least 3 occasions since OSX Yosemite.

I think you have two choices...
Reset OS X Password Without an OS X CD...

It'll boot like a newly setup Mac, but all your stuff should still be there once filling out the stuff.
Or, an Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes. (May or may not work)

I tried deleting the account (hotmail) from Mail and setting up a different account (Yahoo). After loading all the inbox two things happened: first, I still couldn't send, and second, when I closed the Mail window the whole inbox then disappeared and doesn't come back. Although I couldn't reinstall the Mail program from the install DVD, would it still be possible to reinstall the whole system from that DVD? If I do, will I lose files or will there be another problem since that DVD is now over two years old?
    Thanks for any suggestions; they will be much appreciated.
    P.S. I've just noticed that now I can't change the desktop picture: I go through the motions in Preferences, but the new picture doesn't appear on the desktop. Is there a systemic problem?

    You are waiting for an apology to something that happened over a year ago? Really? This is why there is a manager in the store. You have a problem with an employee you speak to the manager. Just like you did on the phone. You would have gotten your apology in July 2013.
    Here is the information about your upgrade fee.

    It is because when you have a problem you (customers) go running to the store and want to take up the time of the reps to fix it. Other carriers have third parties that deal with technical support and those locations are few and far between. VZW provides this directly through their stores. Also, when you subsidize a $650 and pay $200 VZW has to pay $400. Your monthly service fee doesn't begin to scratch the surface of paying that back. Not with all the money that is put into the network and its improvements.
    Then over a year later you get someone on the phone who apologized and offered to waive the fee on your phone and you didn't take it? That offer won't come down the pike again.
    One thing you should know is that all these employees are people and as such they sometimes come off cross. I doubt that you speak to everyone so sweetly all the time. Cut them a little slack and put this whole thing behind you after 15 months. Either upgrade with VZW or move on.

    b). He wanted list of tables including Z tables that can be maintained directly thru maintenance view
    Auditor will do some excerse Directly Maintained Tables (vs) Authroized users
    He will come back with a list of tables for which we have to give the logs.
    I tried my best to explain my requirement.
    To summarise  - I repeat  i am looking  "List of Tables that can be maintained directly - When Client has status 'not modifiable" ?

    I have been unable to login in using the password on this computer. Twice now I have reset the password using the install disk that came with the computer. After resetting. I quit the installer and then reboot using the computer's startup disk. When I try to login with the new password, it won't let me uses the password even though the new hint is correct. How can I solve this?

  • My iTunes wont launch even though a correct administrator password is given Why?

    It seems that every time iTunes gets updated I get problems with the launch of it.
    For instance, if I click on the task-bar icon, a request for an administrator password to allow Apple to do its thing on my hard drive comes up and I type it in and it disappears, but does not launch. Furthermore, if I try to uninstall iTunes, I am not allowed to because I dont have administrator rights despite being the owner of my F..ing p.c. I have tried to get round this by creating a further user account (me) with no admin rights. Same thing try as I might I can't use itunes even though a further dowload tells me that iTunes has been "repaired" and updated blah blah ...

    I'm having really weird problems with my skype account [Redacted for privacy.]. I registered a new one just to post this message, because I can't log in with my original.
    I checked - I have 3 emails set in my profile. I'm logged in on the Skype App. Everything I want to change requires a password, and it doesn't accept the pass, even though I have it saved (using 1pass).
    When I attempt to reset my pass, I'm receiving password reset emails for users that aren't mine. I successfully changed the password for two different users, probably making them suffer the same problem as myself. Not sure how Skype picked those two users and decided they are me.
    So, I'm logged in, but can't change anything, or use some skype features.

    I managed to fix it myself by manally entering the code instead of clicking on the reset link. This way a list with all accounts that had my email was showed and I was able to select my user from the list.
    My email looks like a very popular typo.

    My husband surprised me with an iPad the first year they came out. However, when he bought it, he used his name but my email address when he ordered it & had it set up.     According to your profile (and activity list) this ID was created on the forum in 2011 and was last used to post a little over a year ago. This is not your Apple Id, however, nor should it have any impact on your email account..
    Do you have an entry in your Contaacts app for the email in question? If so, what is on it? And what is set as your contact in settings? (Settings app > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > [scroll down to Contcats] > My Info   ?

  • Can't login or reset password

    Anyone have any ideas on how to restore a user password even if it doesn't show up using the password reset utility? User was checking his Yahoo email - not sure if he opened an attachment - said he saw a window open with a lightning bolt - machine locked up - rebooted and could no longer login. Put the Tiger install in - rebooted and tried to reset the users passwords. None of the users showed up in the list.
    The machine wouldn't boot into single user mode either. I started the machine with Tech Tool Pro 4 (latest version) ran all the tests - made a few minor changed (file mod dates etc) - but nothing big. Still couldn't log in. I booted the machine under OS 9 (It's an older G4) and I could see all the user folders in the "Users" folder. All the files etc are all still there. The machine runs fine under OS 9.
    Is this something that can be fixed with netinfo manager? What would cause the users to disapear under OS X?
    Weird is all I can say. Anyone know of an email attachment exploit for the Mac that does this? The circumstances are suspcious at best -

    No - The only way I could log in was as root. Even after logging in as root, the users do not show up in the 'accounts' preference list.
    Once I was logged in as root, I created a new account then transferred all the files from the old unavailable accounts.
    It's as if the system lost track of "all" the users with the exception of leaving the Users folders and files untouched - very wierd....

  • I can`t login using the password i created

    I bought my kids a touchsmart 520 for Christmas with windows 7 installed, which was installed by my son and he was on youtube that day.  Next day he tried to logon and the message that the password is not recognized I tried to reset and it asks me to insert a floppy disc or flash drive which I don`t have and I can`t find were the floppy disc goes, I tried a blank dvd disc and nothing happens.  I have tried re-entering the password  in lower case, upper case, and with and without spaces, with keyboard and on screen and nothing , if i can`t find out how to get into the machine to create a new password I`ll have to take it back to the store

    Since it is brand new and you have no files saved, you could just do a reinstall of the Operating System by tapping away at the F11 key after powering on, as soon as the HP logo screen appears.That will set it back to Factory.

    Hello!  I'm a university professor in Seoul, South Korea and would like to get the English version of Captivate using the educator's discount.  This educator's version is offered on the U.S. site.  I don't know if they offer a similar discount for Korean educators since the Korean website is (obviously) in Korean, and I don't read Korean.  Is it possible to get the educator discount using the U.S. site?  I cannot use the Korean version of Captivate since I cannot read Korean.

         Don't know if you are able to do this, but I would not purchase the software, considering the subscription plan they have available. You can subscribe and always have the latest updates for around 29.99 a month. I do this from Japan, and it works much better than laying out however many hundreds of dollars and having to constantly pay for the upgrades. I think they even have a yearly plan for 20 something dollars a month...even for the educators discount, the subscription likely works out cheaper.

  • Can't login with right password

    I have been happily using my computer and logging in using fingerprint recognition by truesuite access manager then all of a sudden I have turned the computer on and it says "please login by password and enroll your fingerprints". Upon typing in what I know is the right password it still refuses to log me in.
    Does anyone know how I might sort this out?

    I'm having the same issue.
    I'm trying to enroll my domain user, when the Toshiba FPU asks me for the password, it always refuses it, but I have found out that if I input the password of the machine user (it has the same login as the domain user) it works. The problem is that the FPU registers the fingerprint as belonging to the machine user.
    Could the problem be on the same login for a machine and domain user?
    Any workaround?
