Can't login in to iChat/AIM, Error - Auth:ResvLinkError

When I try to login in to iChat/AIM I get the following error...
Auth:ResvLinkError
Any ideas? I try logging in on another screen name on my MacBook and have no problems.

And worth a try.
Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443.
Log back in again.

I can't login caused of an unknown error (-9808)

I can't login caused of an unknown error (-9808) since a few weeks. I know my Apple ID and the right password...
I also can't create a new account, but the connenction to the internet is there and I can also use the itunes store with all functionalities exept the log in...
All the other desciptions of this error (-9808) and sugestions don't work. I've also got the latest version of itunes.

I've seen this before but I'm a bit unsure of these kind of things. Is it really trustworthy? But thanks anyway for the answer, I'll probably try it anyway.

Connection Issue: "Error: Auth:ResvLinkError"

Every time I try to sign on I get the following error when I boot up Ichat on my Macbook Pro:
Error: Auth:ResvLinkError
Does anyone know how to resolve this, I can't sign on.

Ichat-AIM error. can no longer send messages to offline buddies

I was always able to send messages to offline buddies before until today when I received this message:
"AIM error
Your message could not be sent.
You cannot send any more offline messages."
After receiving this message I was no longer able to send messages to any of my offline buddies, not just the one that I was IMing at the time . I was using an AIM sn that I created before I bought my macbook (I just got my macbook in January). Please help me! How can I go back to the way things were? I've been scouring the online forums and have not been able to find a solution to my problem! please help!

iChat does not have a setting for changing this.
iChat can not send Off Line Messages but can receive them if you don't block them with the AIM System Message Chat that comes at the same time.
iChat 4 can send them and receive them.
The Incoming ones can be blocked in th same way.
I have no info if blocking Incoming ones causes the Outgoing ones to be stopped as well.
As iChat does not have this feature you would need to download a client (for AIM) that does allow you to change the Setting.
AIM for Mac is still at version 4.7 and does not seem to have a setting for this.
I would look at AdiumX or ProteusX

Can't login with gdm and get error message

Hey, I had an arch install up and running last night. I was tinkering with gnome themes, and installed a bunch and eventually tried to mess with the login screen. I installed something, I think like gnome-settings-manager or something like that, and it basically never worked. I tried to change the login BG and some stuff, but couldn't do it, the program would freeze.
About an hour later, I realized chrome wouldn't run, and I had to use the default browser. I restarted and then when I logged back in, I have a black login screen with an error that says "Install Problem: the configuration defaults for gnome power manager have not been installed correctly please contact your computer administrator."
When I try to login, it starts like it's going to work, but then brings me back to the same screen.
So basically I can't login at the moment, I tried pacman -Runs gnome gdm gnome-setting-manager gamin gksu
and then pacman -S gnome gdm gksu gamin
but that still gives me the same screen.
Any ideas where to go from here?
Edit: Decided to install KDE as a workaround, I'll see where that gets me, opening a new thread as my root partition is now full... and IDK how to fix that atm

Just my 2 cents, seeing that nobody is replying...
You could try to create another user and see if it works well, just to understand if it's a problem in the user configuration files, or in the system configuration.
If the new user works well you could try to import your config files from your /home/user/ folder one by one and see which one messes up everything.
If the new user has the same problems, it's a more serious problem, maybe you could try to remove packages one by one (pacman -Rscn package), starting from the last one you installed (you can list packages by installation date using yaourt -Qe --date) until it works again (taking care of not removing essential packages).

Can't hear nothing on iChat/AIM

I bought my first mac about 5 months ago, and i never got the chance to use the ichat video. My bff jus got her laptop (an HP) so i wanted us to test our webcams. She can hear me fine and i could not hear her, at first it was super low (and i checked my volume/system preferences/ preference on iChat) then nothing! She is using AIM 6.8 (Win) and im using iChats AIM. This is my first mac, so i dont know, maybe im doing something wrong. Only one of the lights were green lit (the right one)
I don't know what else to do. Please help....

IChat AIM error

HI, sorry for my english...i have a iMac G5 and Tiger 10.4.2, since the last update of ichat or isight (i dont remember good that), i have problem with iChat and when someone invite me to partecipate a pubblic chat my computer have problems and ichat go in crash, the same when i try to enter in some pubblic chat from the toolsbar Archive/go in the chat... i have a message "error AIM" and when i contact someone, i cant send message to him....
anyone can help to me?

Why can't I can't login to my iChat?

I just got my Mac Air last month... and I am trying to use iChat but it won't let me... I was never able to go on iChat not even once... That is why I had to change my apple ID password so many times, and it still doesn't work. It works on my phone though... the chat but not video chat on the talk app that came with my phone. Everytime I type in my password for my iChat it says "AOL Instant Messenger password... iChat can't log into [email protected] because your login ID or password is incorrect. OMG this is so frustrating!!! HELP ME ... and I don't have a aol account is tht the reason?

And....
IS the password 16 characters or less ?

Can't log in with iChat (AIM Account)

Hello to yall,
I'm sitting in Lyon, France and my iChat isn't working. I have to get connected to the internet via LAN here and I think this is the problem. iChat won't let me log in. It tries to connect for a while and finally it tells me the following (translation):
Could not connect with AIM. The connection could not be closed because it took too much time.
Please try again later.
Something like that. soooooo, what might be the problem?
Everything else on the internet ist working, the browser, email... just iChat is giving me a hard time. I even tried to connect my iMac with the LAN and there I have the same problems. It must be the LAN but I do not know what to do about it.
Any options?

Does anybody know how I can run multiple skype accounts on my macbook air? I found workarounds on youtube, followed the steps to set-up a second skype account but I can't login using the second account.

I get an error message saying "please check your network settings and try again". Can't login to iCloud Panel on PC

after installing iCloud panel and trying to login I get message "Can't login because of a server error" I check iCloud status and all is OK. I've done numerous cycles of uninstalling rebooting reinstalling ad rebooting. Same result.

I suffered this problem, too. The error message is useless. I found a fix!
The same problem occurs in iTunes, but iTunes gives a better error message: "0x80090318". I googled the solution.
Open a command prompt as administrator. “C:∖windows∖system32∖netsh winsock reset”. Reboot. Done. Good luck!

"Rend Error" when sending image via iChat/AIM

On my brand new iMac aluminum, I am unable to send, and friends are unable to send, images via iChat AIM 3.1.8 (V445). When either of us try to send, we get the message "An undefined AIM error has occured. The server message was: Rend: Error"
I then spin around and use my old G4 iMac to send an image - no problem. My buddy is also able to send to me, no problem.
Both computers are connected to the same Linksys WRT54G router. When I searched for the term 'rend' only one thread came back which suggested to change the port from 5190 to 443. I did this and it didn't help.
Any other suggestions?

In the Linksys set up pages you have Application and Gaming (Which is where I think you are talking about)
In there there are several options.
Port Forwarding, Port Triggering, DMZ (possibly UPnP Forwarding and QoS)
Disable any Port Forwarding or Port Triggering. DO not use the DMZ.
Save settings. (you should still have Web browsing and Mail abilities).
GO to the Administration tab on the top row.
Enable UPnP.
Save Settings.
UPnP allows multiple computers to use the same ports.
This way the Linksys can be left doing DHCP if you wish and it will not matter if your computer gets a new IP every now and then. Also the Ports are opened by the application and close after a timed period of non use.
You can limit the "Hops" to the number of devices the computer is from the Linksys (1 ?) to make it more secure.
On the main set up page you could limit the the DHCP range to the number of computers you have to prevent outside connections.
The ports you describe so far are only the TExt chatting and file sending ports

Can and Can't login to AIM

I've upgraded to a 27" iMac and am having problems with iChat and AIM. When I first got the new iMac I was able to login to AIM using iChat. Now I can't -- it keeps reporting that I'm using the wrong password. BUT, I CAN still login to AIM using my old iMac and the same PW on the same Network, so I know it's not the PW [the PW works on my iPhone, too].
I'm using the same settings on each machine. I've changed the port to 443 on the new iMac [same as the old one], I've followed the advice I've seen in other posts and confirmed that the Keychain has the correct PW and I deleted com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist.
I even checked the Firewall setting to make sure that signed software can receive incoming connections.
Is there anything else I can try?

Any AIM valid account/Screen Name which in this case includes those from Apple (MobileMe and @mac.com IDs) will report there is a second Login if in the iChat > Preferences > Accounts you have not got Allow Multiple Logins ticked.
A Multiple Login can be caused by a AIM Express Login with the same Screen Name or from a Second computer using iChat or any other AIM client.
Of course a Phone that can login to AIM messaging of any sort can also be Second Login.
It is strange that you had the message show up on the computer that was already Logged in.
The Presumption is you get the message at work for Instance if you leave your Home computer logged in or vice versa and you get the message on the computer/device you are trying to Login.
The Message from AIMSysteMessage (the Screen Name that sends you the Message) allows you to type a " 1 " as the response and will then log out the First computer/device (if you type " 2 " then the current attempt to login is ended).
Also logging on to the AIM web site and not specifically logging out may get the default Login period to kick in (two weeks) and may also be the cause of a Second Login.
Another cause may be using sites like Meebo and BeBo and other social sites that allow Linking to your Buddy Lists.
If one iChat is reporting that the @me.com name is logged in twice then it will be that Screen Name not the plain AIM one.
Other things to look at.
On the new computer that is using the MobileMe name what is the Login port that the Screen Name is using ?
iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings
What ports is the AIM Name managing to Login with on the other Computer ?
Are you setting the Screen Name to allow Multiple Logins ?
