Can't login to Windows XP Pro over network

I was trying to get access to a shared folder on a Windows XP Pro machine. When I tried to connect, it kept on telling me that the password was incorrect. At first, there was no password, so I left that line blank. Then I set a password on the Windows machine, but got the same error after entering the correct password. I was able to access the Mac from the Windows machine, which allowed me to drag & drop the file I was trying to transfer. I would just like to know why I can't connect to the Windows machine - it makes no sense. File sharing is setup on both machines, along with Window sharing on the Mac. If anyone has any ideas, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I can't answer for Internet Explorer but you should be able to export Bookmarks from FireFox. If you can't export from IE you may be able to import from EI to FireFox first.
In FireFox, menu BookMarks>Organize Bookmarks, then in the pane which opens, menu File>Export (that's how it works on Linux so Windows should be broadly similar). The result should be an html file.
You may be able to import this into Safari on your Mac; certainly you should be able to import it into FireFox and perhaps from there to Safari if necessary.

Can't login IE11 windows 8.1 HP laptop

The BT sport website freezes when I try to login in via IE11 using windows 8.1 on my laptop. There is no error message, and task manager shows no activity, it just sits there. I have to close the browser to exit.
I can login using Chrome on the same laptop but then I can't watch videos as silver light not supported. I can login on my iPad but that's not the point!
I can't login to the main BT site either . I tried turning off mcAfee in case that was a problem...
I've worked round it by downloading Firefox but how can I fix this?

I can't login into my macbook pro under my user , only as a guest.

My MacBook pro is taking forever to load. I can't login using my user name, but only as guest. When I finally make it into Guest User, it takes forever to load anything and everything. I want to know if I can still retrieve my pictures. I tried going thru iPhoto under guest user and importing the pictures. However, a red exit sign appears on all the files under that username. Please help ;(

I see that you are having some issues with your ability to log in to your user account on your computer. If this issue is related to passwords, you will want to see the information in the following article:

I have a Thinkpad T500 which I installed an Oracle Linux OS. Now I want to restore my gear to a Windows 7 or Windows 8 pro.
My question is where can I buy from Lenovo the said recovery discs?

I can not login in my Mac Pro with my new apple ID?

I installed 10.8.5 but I can not login as administrator with my new(confirmed)password:the new password is not accepted. So what can be the reason but more important: how to solve this nasty problem?

Paid upgrade of Windows 8 Pro over Windows 7

I am sorry for having to write about a so stupid issue. The fact is that I just purshased a Lenovo S531 that comes with Windows 8 Pro license, but Windows 7 installed.
I search hours on how to download the installation media. Only leads me to the updrage applcation which ask me to pay a new license!
The information provided in the support pages is just nonsense for me!
I checked the licence info in the BIOS, this is Win8 Pro.
I expected a little app or link in my system to build the installation media, but nothing.
Sorry about my tone but I am really disapointed by all this.
So, if anyone could help me solving this issue (and many others I am sure), I would be very grateful.

Re: New ThinkPad 420 replacing an XP Pro laptop which was ethernetted to my Windows 7 Pro desktop.
Via my desktop I could directly access my D\ drive on the old XP laptop. It appeared in the Network folder in Explorer.
Now in the desktop I just get a list of the libraries on the ThinkPad. I have never used or needed libraries so, how do I configure the ThinkPad to make its newly created D\ drive accessible from my desktop?

Can't login to Windows 10

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Technical Preview. After first updating I was able to access the desktop. I noticed everything was sluggish so I attempted to reboot. When the OS loaded and I was presented with the login screen there was no place
for me to put a password. I can see my account, but there's no where to put a password to login. I've rebooted several times with no luck. I can access the wifi, ease of access, etc., but there's no where for me to login.
Please advise!

Yes, I've restarted several times. I've shutdown completely and restarted. Same results.
I have no more ideas except reinstalling back to Win 8.1. I hope you do have a Win 8.1 installation disk created.
After you are back to Win 8.1, and you still want to install Win 10 TP, you have 3 choices......
1. Install Win 10 TP build 10041 over Win 8.1. Like you did but this time using 10041 ISO file.
2. Dual boot with Win 8.1 and Win 10 TP 10041 using the ISO file.( That's how I did mine ).
3. Install 10041 in a virtual machine using the ISO file.
For both choice #2 and #3, you will have 2 operating systems in your computer. Any time you want to, you can delete 10041 in just a few clicks.
Your Win 8.1 will remain intact, untouched.

SBS 2011 Domain Accounts Can't Login To Windows 8 PC

One of our Windows 8.1 machines is no longer allowing domain accounts (except admin) to login to the PC. This PC was a fresh setup and was joined to the domain in January. When I log into the PC with the network admin and go to logs I get the
following message related to group polocies not being able to be applied (now it won't let me connect at all). I'll upload log files as soon as I can connect again.
We are running an SBS 2011 server that handles all ad, dns, exchange 2010, remote web access, etc.
Any ideas on what may be going wrong or how I should troubleshoot the issue?

Can you copy the Windows Bootcamp partition over to a new hard drive?

I'm out of space on my hard drive so I'm adding a larger one. I originally just wanted to use my time capsule for a backup, but then I remembered about my Windows partition.
What would be the most efficient way to copy both partitions from my original drive to the new drive for install?
I have a Macbook Pro 13in Late 2011 model and running OSX 10.9.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backup your Windows software using Windows backup software to a Windows formatted disk. Create a new Boot Camp partition on the new drive. Install Windows on it, then restore your backup. You can also buy disk cloning software that can clone the system to another drive and restore the entire clone. I believe Acronis has such software.

IOS App 8.1.5 Remote Desktop can't connect to Windows 7 Pro after upgrade. Error 0x00000507

Nothing has changed between my network, Windows 7 computer or my iPad besides the upgrade of the ios app software to 8.1.5. Did not used to have any issues connecting but now when I try to connect, I get the above error when logging in.
I have tried reinstalling the ios app with no success and also confirmed I can still remote desktop to the PC from another PC with the credentials I've always been using.
I've also tried explicitly including the domain when entering the username with no luck. Looked through my Windows 7 event logs and can't find any more information on what this error means.
Has anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas what I can do to troubleshoot? Thanks!

I have a same problem.
Although RD Client 8.1.4 worked great, now I cannot connect to Windows 7 Professional computer from my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4) since the latest update.
Same as Twiggles, when I try to log in (just after entering username and password), the app gives me error code 0x507 "Disconnected from server".
Note that I connect to my PC over VPN using Cisco AnyConnect app.
After that, I've tried to connect to my PC in two different ways with same network settings as the above situation.
1. Use different remote app
I've tested free version of "PocketCloud" from Dell Wyse, and I CAN connect to my PC.
2. Use different version of iOS
I've tested the latest RD Client 8.1.5 on my another iPhone (5s) with iOS 8.1, and I CAN connect to my PC.
Therefore, I assume our 0x507 is not setting related, but probably some sort of iOS version dependent problem arise from the latest update.
Even though I tried PocketCloud, I believe RD Client is the BEST app for remote desktop for iOS.
I strongly hope this problem will be solved!

Can you use a Windows-only printer over a print server?

I recently found a large format printer from Ricoh that has great reviews and prints postscript with laser speed/economy with some new inkjet technology only they have - perfect for a home design office and a LOT cheaper than a typical tabloid laser.
Problem is, it's only compatible with Windows systems...
Someone told me it's possible to get a print server to link my Airport Extreme networked Powerbook G4 to this incompatible printer but i haven't seen any print servers that have a Ricoh print driver listed in their specs. Am I out of luck or could it still work with some kind of generic driver or something? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

Print servers don't use a driver. The protocols that communicate with them are standard protocols handled by the OS (Windows, OS X, linux).
If the Ricoh is a postscript printer, it's only compatible with Windows systems isn't quite right. Any postscript level II or III printer is compatible with OS X. The problem may be that the plugins used by OS X's print dialog (Copies & pages menu options) for special features like alternate paper tray may not be provided, so you'll have access to fewer features.
But you say it's an inkjet technology printer - most of those aren't postscript printers, and that Does Require a driver for OS X.
The only other option I can think of is a Windows computer set up to be postscript RIP/printer server:
