Can't long in to iWeb after clean install of Leopard and upgrade to Snow

I just recently did a clean install of Leopard and then upgraded to Snow Leopard. Everything is working ok except for iWeb. At first, I thought I had just forgotten my password but then I reset it. I logged on here with it and on iTunes. I can't edit my page at all. How do I get into iWeb now? The template I created through iWeb of course is not on my computer- it's just on my iWeb site. Can I call to get someone th help me or do I need to start all over. How do I do that because I have a subscription?
Thanks
Daniel Arnold

Daniel ~ Welcome to the discussions. If you didn't backup iWeb's key Domain file before the clean install, you'll probably need to start over. I say "probably" because even though you didn't deliberately back up the Domain file, perhaps you were running Time Machine — in which case, there's still hope:
Recovering items using Time Machine and Spotlight
Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

You didn't save the iWork trial.dmg  somewhere by any chance?
You have not move enough parts of iWork over to the new computer. There are files in
Users > your name > Library > Application support > iWork. Get the iWork folder
MacHD > Library > Application Support > iWork '09. Get the folder
To get into the users Library you have to on Mountain Lion in the Finder click on Go in the menu while pressing down the Option key.

  • Glitchy Display after Clean install of Leopard (G5 dual 2 GHz, Radeon 9600)

    Hello,
I'm having weird glitchy display issues after a clean install of Leopard on my work machine. There was years of crap on this machine, several user accounts and it was extremely slow. I was advised by my tech guy to wipe the HD and do a clean install of OSX Leopard and all my Apps (Adobe CS3 & Extensis Suitcase X1).
I immediately noticed glitchy display issues. First, when i scroll over anything with my mighty mouse it leaves a trail of glitchy weirdness where my cursor was:
    http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/dylandog/screenglitch2.png
Second, in certain applications if i move a window my clicking and dragging the top bar or a window it starts "disintegrating" and getting all pixelated. If i shake the window while doing this it gets worse:
    http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/dylandog/screenglitch1.png
I ran software update thinking that would help...Still doing it.
I also installed 4 GB of memory (the max for this machine) to try increase speed. It did increase speed, but I'm still experiencing the display issues.
I'm going to run the CS3 updates now...I doubt that will fix it, but you never know.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how, or what to do to fix this?
    Thanks in advance!!
BTW, The specs on my machine are as follows:
    Power Mac G5
    Dual 2GHz circa 2005
    4GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 9600
    30" Cinema Display
    19" Planar PL1910M LCD
    OSX 10.5.1

Many people have reported that there ATI 9600's don't work well in leopard. Most were able to fix the problem by installing old ATI drivers, including me. I still get glitches but only when going from a full screen w/thousand color back to a million colors, but the glitches only affect the docks stacks.
The guide can be found here: http://interandom.com/2007/10/31/leopard-ati-radeon-9600/
Let us know how it goes. Good Luck.

  • Can no longer boot to MacOSX after bootcamp install

Hello all, I have an issue to where I can no longer boot into the Mac OSX partition after what appears to be a failed Windows bootcamp install. As I was running the bootcamp assistant process, a reboot occurred and I was greeted with the "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I have no idea how to get past this and boot back to OSX.
    Things I have tried:
Holding down the "option" key does nothing, even using a USB keyboard
Resetting PRAM (CMD + OPT + P + R) does nothing, even with USB keyboard
I have put in a MAC OSX 10.7 Disk and cannot boot to disk using CMD + C on startup
I also pulled the hard drive out and connected it to another PC and wiped the drive completely. I put it back in the macbook and I am still presented with this error. It seems, even though I get the Mac startup tone, that it is stuck in which ever OS it tried to run previously, that being Windows. Not sure why I am still receiving this error even after wiping the drive completely clean.
As far as hardware goes, I am pretty sure its a late 2010 Alumn. Macbook Pro. I cant get the current model number since I cant boot the OS. Any help is appreciated.

    Please reset SMC as well.
You can get the serial number from the back cover and use https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do to find the model.

  • Premiere CC can't import Apple Motion files after clean install

Got a new SSD so I decided to do a spankin new install of everything except Final Cut Pro legacy (which I thought I could finally do without). Only snag has been that Premiere CC can't import my Apple Motion projects (version 3) and I can't encode ProRes anymore. Rather than do a lengthy install of the whole Final Cut Studio I just decided to purchase Motion 5 and thought all the functionality would come back. Nope. Premiere's browser won't even display .motn files and if I try to "import" them they are greyed out.
So now I'm stumped. Do I need to install Motion first and then Premiere CC?
    MacPro Mavericks
    Premiere 7.2.2

    Hi R & G,
I don't believe Motion 5 projects are supported. Motion 4, or earlier, as I understand it. You can install FCP to get the ProRes codecs back.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Lost (Tiger) Applications After Clean Install of Leopard - Help Please

I just bought my MacBook - 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB memory, 120GB hard drive, Double-layer SuperDrive about 4 weeks ago. It came loaded with Tiger and included iDVD, iPhoto, Garage Band, etc. (iLife apps.). I ordered and received the Leopard up-to-date DVD (for $9.95) and did a clean install. Now I don't have any of the aforementioned apps! I noticed Leopard does not include these apps. Here are the specs on what it does include. http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/. A few questions:
    Did Tiger include these apps?
Would I have kept these apps if I had done a simple upgrade instead of a clean install?
Is there an app in Leopard to burn DVDs? (I couldn't find anything)
    Thanks!!

They are on your Instal disks under bundled software. This, How to restore your Apple software, will help you get them back.

  • After clean install of Leopard, unix file folders are visible in finder

I did a DoD wipe of my hdd in my Mac Mini.
I installed Leopard, no frills, and got it registered to me like when I bought it.
I wanted to check if all is will BUT in the root folder in Finder (Macintosh HD) it shows folders like BIN, VAR and so on.
I thought maybe I had hidden files shown on the finder so I checked, its not supposed to show hiden files. So I toggled it on, applied and then turned it off and applied again. They are not gone!
So I tried the terminal way with these commands
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALE
    killall Finder
I also did a Disk Utility repair permissions.
These did not fix the issue. I am looking on Google and this seems to be fairly common but I haven't found a fix yet. Any ideas? I don't MIND they are there, but I have my wife who is not savy with the Mac yet so I am fearful she might remove the folders on accident especially with organizing her files, I have seen it happen on a Windows Machine.

    Try these:
    *cd /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/*
    *open System/Installation/Packages/*
OPTION-click on the OSInstall.mpkg and select show package contents. Then, drill down to Resources and copy the "SetHidden" file to your home folder and the "hidden_MacOS9" file to the root level of your boot volume. Launch the Terminal app and run the command:
    *sudo SetHidden / hidden_MacOS9*
    and restart.

  • How do I import my address book after doing a clean install of Leopard?

I just finished doing a clean install of Leopard and I realized that I forgot to export an Address book archive before erasing my hard drive. I still have all the Address Book files stored in Application Support in my Library (on my backup hard drive) but I don't know how to get those files into Address Book. Whenever I try the different import options they are all grayed out.
I also have the Address Book files stored on my iPod Touch but syncing with my Touch doesn't seem to bring them into my computer. Is there anything I can do at this point besides entering them in one at a time?! Copying and pasting the files from the backup to the current folder doesn't seem to do any good either. It will tell me that the files I am trying to write over and in use. It says this even after I close Address Book.

Ok, I got is to work by selecting the folder itself and copying it over. Aparently it does work if you open the folder, select all the contents and then paste it. I didn't think it would matter which way you did it.

  • GIMP freezes after clean install

I just finished a clean install of Leopard and then installed X11 and Gimp 2.2.11 (I think this is the latest Universal Binary). However, after starting the program a screen saying "caching fonts" comes up. It stays on that screen for a while and then crashes. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

same problem, apparently no solution until now...
It looks like an update by Gimp of the embedded library could help...
Definitely I have the impression that many more options are available for the intel users. But updating the hardware is out of my budget.

  • Restoring files ONLY from Time Machine on a clean install of Leopard

Hi folks. I've seen variations of this asked but not quite the answer I'm looking for.
I want to do a clean install of Leopard and want to restore only files from a TM backup (mp3's, photos, docs, etc.). I don't want to incorporate apps, system files or the user account from the TM backup. Just a fresh installation of OS X on which I can incorporate my files from a TM backup without having to worry about incorporating unwanted programs, hidden files and whatnot. I used to do this on Windows all the time but can't figure out a way of doing it on OS X. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What's user ID 501? So if I'm trying to import files from a TM backup and I have the same user ID, I won't be prompted to change it based on this method?
you won't be prompted to change user ID but if the user IDs are different you'll be denied access to some folders (like the Documents folder) in your old home directory and won't be able to restore them. I presume the files you want to restore are there? this issue can be dealt with if it does arise but as I said if you only have one user on both computers this will not be an issue. just try it and see what happens.

    No you can't.
Reboot your iPad:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME for up to 30 seconds, until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  You won't lose any data settings.  When your iPad restarts see if you can access iTunes.

I can no longer open any PDF after my trial of Acrobat XI Pro finished...Help

I would try using this tool to first remove all traces of Acrobat from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive.Cant play any music as it "can't find" the library  Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing.   How to restore back to original state . I have tried re-installing  - with no change

I do the same thing as you do...
My music is on an external drive as to not use up gigabytes of storage that need not be used for media.
There are a couple basic principles to iTunes that I believe you should know.
    1. iTunes is not a media storage program. It does not store your media "in iTunes". It simply is an organization tool for your media already on a hard disk.
    2. As iTunes is not a storage mechanism, it has no way to "know" whether or not the media that is listed is actually there. This is where the "design" of iTunes comes into play.
I like to think of iTunes as a bread-crumb trail. The "music" in iTunes, isn't actually there. The bread crumb is the location on the external hard drive.
If that bread crumb trail disappears (in this case the external drive you use). If said external drive is not plugged in, that bread crumb trail is not able to be followed. iTunes is "lost" and unable to find the media. The only way to remedy this is to place the media on your local drive.
To address your issue of the library. If you hold down shift, you can select your library on your external drive. It will be a file with an .itl extension. The folder name will be your external drive.
I go into edit > preferences > advanced and set my library to the correct location. Make sure you check the box "Copy to iTunes Folder when importing" (or whatever it says).
You can't fix the issue of iTunes not seeing the media if your drive is unplugged unless you physically move the content to your OS HDD...Or any other HDD you use.

  • Can no longer add new mailbox after updating to Mavericks.

I recently upgraded to OS Mavericks.  After trying to create a new mailbox, however, I find that I can no longer do so.  Is this related to the Mavericks upgrade and, if so, does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks.

Sorry, but there is no solution to this for PSE 11. Although it's not much help, Adobe never recommends upgrading to an OS beyond whatever is current when a version of PSE is released, although most of the time it's not an issue. For instance, it is Only PSE 11 that has problems in 10.9, and only for those filters. Otherwise, 6 through 12 all work fine.
