Can't Make Airport Connection to Network

Just set up new wireless network with new cable modem (Motorola) and wireless router (Netgear) booth provided by cable company. Have gotten iMac and iPhone to connect to the network without a hitch but cannot get the G4 with internal airport card to get with the program. Was previously operating the G4 with another wireless network at another location.
I have tried to duplicate the current settings of the iMac on the G4 and still the G4 is not recognizing the network. Using WPA2 Personal Security. Have deleted all other network locations and tried to eliminate everything else that might be confusing the G4 with the previous setup (with the exception of the old network password which I can do if necessary). Have tried network diagnostics, etc., but no luck.
Can connect to the internet via ethernet no problem, but would like to get rid of the 25 foot wire running through the living room.
Don't know what other information you might be needed to help me trouble shoot this, but will stay active here at the forum and respond quickly if someone wants to help me with this.

Just research the Netgear details and it seems there is an option to choose to override the default MAC address by either choosing "use this MAC" or "Use Computer MAC".
I read in another forum question something similar to this was the problem. When I hardwire the G4 to the Netgear, it recognizes the G4 MAC address but there is no IP address listed whereas the iMac has both listed........
There is also an advanced wireless settings window where I can choose to list the PC's, but then it states:
The Wireless Card Access Setup page displays a list of wireless PCs that will be allowed to connect to the router based on their MAC addresses. These wireless PCs must also have the correct SSID and WEP settings configured on the Wireless Settings page to access the wireless network.
Because it mentions WEP settings do you think this advanced setting is for pc's that can't utilize WPA or do you think this might be a viable workaround?

I successfully published my site today to the GoDaddy server - no problems, the iWeb Site Publishing Settings Page worked great.
I have another site on Network solutions. I put in all the correct information in iWeb's FTP Server Settings block on the Site Publishing page. Hit "Test Connection" and it failed. Over and over and over. So get this - I call Tech Support at NetSol. They are on the line with me for half an hour and we tried everything and could not make a connection. We both gave up.
Is anyone having problems getting a connection with NetSol?
I just tested the Apple Publishing page with GoDaddy again and it still works just fine there.

I am using a QNAP NAS with SMB network shares, which I mount with OS X Mavericks. They are not searchable, as far as I know because of the indexing of network share is by default not activated.
To force the OS to index them I activated this via mdutils. But this is no solutions. This makes spotlight to index the share once. But I want spotlight to index it always and keep it up to date. I have a huge amount of documents & fotographs, which is very difficult to manage without being searchable.
Unfortunately the only solution I found in the www was the mdutils-way, which seems not to work, maybe only works not for me.

I have used the mdutil /Volumes/name -i on, and it seems to work.
But, if I understand it correctly, it is a one-time indexing -- the index is NOT keep up-to-date with changes.
So, how can we keep the index up-to-date?
My thought was to schedule a Terminal file to execute each night with the mdutil code.
Would this work? If so, how would you setup a scheduled run?
Would it have to be done on each Mac that accesses the Share?

Can you send SMS by using the mobile data network instead of Wi-Fi? I had the same problem setting up my 5s from a backup of my 4s. Only after I sent an SMS via mobile data network, somehow iMessage and FaceTime got activated a couple of minutes later without me doing anything else.
I even changed my Apple ID password, because at one point I could not log into my account when iMessage asked for my account details.

Satellite Pro 4600: When I use WEP, I can't make any connection anymore

When I connect my Tohsiba Satellite Pro 4600 via the build-in wireless network card without WEP to an AP, there is no problem, connection is establische and everything is working fine.
When I use WEP, I can't make any connection anymore.
Is there a solution to use 128 Bit WEP encryption on a Thosiba Pro 4600 laptop with the build-in WLAN.

What WLan card do you use?
As far as I know the notebook should be equipped with the Wireless LAN / WiFi Standard: 802.11b ORiNOCO Mini PCI card.
This card supports security 64 WEP or 128 RC4.
Everything looks like you WLan card doesnt support the same security standard like your WLan router. You should understand that this WLan card is an oldie about 7 years old.
I think the best solution is to use the external USB WLan stick which would support the newest encryption standards

But it does nothing when I try to deploy my J2EE application.
I right-click on Resources -> application.deploy, choose "Deploy to" -> my connection. It starts to do something obscure.

Open up your site definition (double-click on the site name in the File panel or choose Site > Manage Sites > Edit) and go to the Remote Info category. There, click Use Firewall (if it isn't already selected) - press Test to try the default firewall settings. If that doesn't work, click Firewall Settings. You'll see two relevant settings about 2/3 down - Firewall host and Firewall port. If Firewall port is 21, there probably is something blocking the port.
On Windows XP, you may have the Windows Firewall installed and blocking. Here's how you get to it:

Once you have that open, you'll need to set Dreamweaver as an exception to blocking:

Airport: connects to network, fails to load Web

I just bought a used Airport for my Clamshell (lime) iBook. Its installed, and seems to have connected to the wireless network. The status is up with a signal level over 3/4 up. However, when I type any url, I get the message :
The attempt to load 'Accessing URL:...' failed.
Does any one have any thoughts on this?
I'm using OS9, and a very old Netscape and IE (which I am planning to upgrade once I connect).

OK, it's been a while for OS 9, but I have a couple of ideas...
First, is your network secured with a password? If so, is the password entered EXACTLY correct into your iBook? I used to have this problem...if the password is not EXACT, my iBook would show a signal - but I couldn't get online, and there were no error system messages - the only symptom was that it wouldn't load web pages, or check e-mail.
Second, are you sure you are connecting to the proper wireless network? I live in a duplex-style house, and I can "see" two or three different networks. Depending on which room I am in, my portable may not automatically connect to the one I want (mine, in my living room), and I will get a signal in the Airport icon, but I can't load any web pages
A suggestion to see if you do have network connectivity: run software update. If it runs successfully (doesn't return a network error), then the error is probably in your iBook. If it doesn't run - then you aren't connecting to the internet and you might want to check the above ideas.

Single account on imac can see but cannot connect over network

This one is driving me crazy:
As of this morning I cannot connect to other computers in our network. Using other accounts on the same imac is no problem, but mine simply refuses.
I can see the rest of the network, connect to the internet, print, etc., but if I try to actually connect to another machine I get the error that it cannot find the original item (the error is in Dutch so I cannot give the litteral version)
Network, firewall and sharing settings seem to be the same as the other, working, accounts as far as I can tell.

OK, we found the problem. my permissions were screwed up...

The ability to do so depends entirely on the JDBC driver implementation having some proxy method. It needs to recognize the HTTP or SOCKS proxy and use them to connect, and the firewall and proxy need to allow those specific port connections.
To the best of my knowledge, all of these update utilities, e.g. live update for Netscape, Norton, etc., do not connect directly to the database. As it is, no sane security person would allow a database to be exposed to the Net. Rather, they connect using HTTP or HTTPS, which normally traverses firewalls just fine, to connect to a Web or application server on the far end. That application server then parses the request and retrieves whatever it needs to from the database.
In other words, you cannot have a 2-tier client/server application. You need a 3-tier application:
your client -> Web/app server -> database
where the connection from your client to the Web/app server is over http or https through the firewall and proxies.

Debugger: Can't make a connection

Hi there,
When debugging my application, I can't seem to make a connection to the debugger. I've tried the "right-click" the swf, choose 'debugger', choose 'other machine' and enter '127.0.0.1' option but I still can't connect. 'localhost' doesn't work either. I've looked everywhere for a solution and no one really seems to understand why this is occuring. I've also tried uninstalling some the various suggested plugins in Firefox but to no avail. Note: I can't connect on either Mac Firefox (3.0.13) or Safari.

Debug Player: yes
Mac OS 10.4.11

It turns out I didn't place a breakpoint in my app. The minute I did and debugged, voila! I now have a working and connected debugger.
