Can I disable album artwork on my OS 7 Ipod touch 5th generation from showing up in the list of song/playlist, etc?
I liked how easy it was to find songs without going thru so much artwork. I know I can do it on itunes, but can I do it on the ipod itself?

Good to hear you found the solution.

  • Can't add album artwork in iTunes 10.5.3.3

I just installed iTunes 10.5.3.3 and now I can't add album artwork.  The Artwork tab is missing from Get Info.  Any ideas?

I have the exact problem with this same iTunes version. However, I just did an experiment. It seems to be primarily limited to songs I've placed via FLAC files, which were "converted" using Fluke. Hmmm... Anyone have a fix for this?

  • After 7.2 can't get album artwork

Since upgrading to iTunes 7.2, I can't fetch album artwork for cds I've ripped but are available from the iTunes Store. Anyone else having this problem?

Im having this problem as well. And to further clarify, itunes is not doanloading all the cover art for tracks ive purchased through itunes. SOme albums has artwork, some do not. For example:
I recently purchased the whole Police catalog through itunes, I do not have artwork for Live!, Syncronicity, Zenyatta Mondatta, or Ghost in the Machine. previous to 7.2, I did, but since rebuilding my itunes libray this artwork will nto download, no matter if I try it manually, or have itunes sett to automatically download it.
Ive noticed as the days go by, itunes will randomly add a piece of artwork here and there for albums that did not previouosly have artwork...b ut its very random, some days I notice an album now has artwork, then a few days goes by and nothing.

Perhaps try the "Error -609" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • ITunes 7- Can't add album artwork

Lotta dsicussion about this topic, but I haven't seen my particular problem come up. When I try to manually add album artwork nothing happens. I've seen other people say they couldn't get it to work when they just dragged the artwork, but I can't get it to work when I crt+click and get info either. When I get info and paste the artwork into the box, the image shows up, but when I click okay, nothin happens. I make sure the checkbox beside the artwork is checked before I hit Okay.
Apple's automatic get album artwork worked pretty well, but only found about 80% of my albums. Pretty good considering the weird crap I listen to, but I'm pretty anal, and if 80% is gonna have artwork I want the rest to also.
Would the problem be that my library is on an external HD?
Is the problem that my computer (G3 ibook, 640MB SDRAM, OSX 10.4.7) is getting on in years? I can't think of any other ways to tell it to get the artwork, any help would be much appreciated!!

For files that won't let you change their artwork, there are two primary things you can check.
Firstly, make sure that the file is writable. If it is on a volume where permissions are managed, make sure you can write to both the file and the folder it is contained in. Select the file in iTunes, command-R, then use Get Info in the Finder to set the file/folder write access if necessary.
Next make sure the Creator and Type of the file isn't set to an iTunes unfriendly type. I know this was an issue in previous versions of iTunes. For example, for an mp3 file Creator=hook Type=MPG3. I know this sounds like stupid advice, setting resource fork information when Apple is telling us to stay away from using resource forks in OS X. iTunes apparently hasn't heard the news.
Perhaps adding album artwork to a file on an external volume is acting like the funny behavior of adding artwork to files on iPods. You apparently can't do it directly, but instead have to stage the artwork adding action on the volume which contains your iTunes Music folder, place the files in a temporary LIBRARY based playlist in iTunes, then drag copy the files from this playlist into the target iPod DEVICES playlist.
It is no longer clear to me what actions constitute an embed artwork action (place associated artwork inside the ID3 tag area of the file itself) versus an attach artwork action (place associated artwork in a separate artwork folder). This is extremely confusing stuff for an application that begins with a lower case i.

  • Can't see album artwork

    Hi
I have imported about 20 CDs into iTunes but I cannot get the album artwork to show. If I right-click the album in cover flow there's even an option that says "clear downloaded artwork" but I can't see the artwork! Please help........

Unless you purchase the CDs from ITunes store there won't be any artwork. In iTunes go to Advanced, then "Get Artwork" (make sure you are connected to the internet) and it will go off to iTunes Store and retrieve the artwork. If iTunes Store does not have the artwork, Google the Album name and artist and Amazon should come up. Click on "Images" and there should be some album covers. Drag a cover to the your desktop and open iTunes and drag the cover to the "place artwork here" in the bottom left hand corner of iTunes. If it is a very rare cd, scan the cover and drag it into iTunes.

  • How to make album artwork smaller?

I just downloaded itunes 9 and put all my music on it. But, the album artwork is really big. How do I make it smaller?

Basically there is no way to do either of the .things you ask. A work-around to separating shows by season would be to rename the show itself, so instead of the show being called "30 Rock" you would call it "30 Rock, Season 1", for example. There's other issues that come from doing that, such as the interface would display the message "No season" underneath the show title, etc., but it would at least allow for separate season art to display.
There's nothing that you can do about the size of the thumbnails. The sheer idiocy Apple has displayed in this recent update is breathtaking. After announcing that their new interface will be more focused on album artwork they remove the user ability to customise the size of that artwork. Disregarding the fact that this is a psychologically unsound principle in the first place (most dvd/album artwork has too many design elements for users to process and remember as a single distinct signifier that means a particular show or music album) the decision to then lock artwork to a single size and so prevent users from making details bigger, which might make visual identification easier, flies in the face of accessibility guidelines and plain common sense.

  • How can i transfer album artwork to itunes

can someome help me i have got some album artwork but cant seem to be able to put it on to itunes?

There are various methods of adding artwork to your songs and albums.
If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
You must have the album or song tagged in your iTunes library correctly or it may not be found. For instance, even a missing "The" before the artists name can throw up anomalies. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a free program to do it for you.
And for Macs, there's Album Art Widget.
You can set this to find art from Amazon, Google and elsewhere, automatically add artwork to songs, rate songs, and a bunch of other stuff.
One of the coolest widgets around.

  • I tunes store is not available in my country, can't update Albums artworks

Itunes Store is not available in Ecuador and i couldn't find a way to update the Albums Artwork feauture that comes with the last itunes version.
Its a terrible mistake from Apple. Please Help!

As stated above you can still add your artwork manually:
iPod & iTunes for Dummies - Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes
Add Song Information, Lyrics, and Artwork to My Tunes
iTunes: How to Add Artwork to Songs
If you have an iPod make sure it is enabled to show the artwork.
A tip for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon, locate the album, save the picture to your desktop and drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Another way would be to locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name and save the picture you find there in the same way. There are also some programs like this one: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag

  • How can I paste album artwork onto iTunes album that is not available on iTunes. I have tried Command c the v and dragging but it doesn't work.

I have just purchase a new imac and want to insert album artwork onto itunes. This is not available on itunes store. I have tried the command button with c then v and this doesnt work. i have also tried dragging the picture but that doesnt work. Any advice please?

I have the same problem but your advice did not work for me. Pehaps I do not understand your directions. What do you mean by "go to where you saved the album artwork"? I never had any problem adding new artwork until I installed iTunes version 11.1.3 (8). Now I can't add new artwork anymore. Is there a special file in this version of iTunes where I should be saving the artwork I want to add to make it work? Before I could save it anywhere.
If you downloaded the artwork from the Internet. It'll be in your downloads folder. Open the folder, and "drag" the image from the folder to the Artwork box in the Info pane as shown:
When you see the "+" you know it's ready to drop, and it will add the artwork to ALL selected tracks as soon as you click "OK".

  • ITunes can't get album artwork for songs iTunes has in the store... how do i fix this?

i have a bunch of songs that either have the wrong album artwork or none at all.  the weirdest thing is that some of the albums are SOLD on iTunes. in fact, if i highlight one of my songs in iTunes, Ping sees it and shows me the correct cover art. BUT when i click "get album artwork", it tells me it cannot find the artwork. i've tried matching the text (song title, album title, artist, genre) exactly as it is in iTunes, but that doesn't help. it is doing this for about 60 of my albums and i don't know how to fix it. how can i get it to find the artwork?
also... when iTunes finds the WRONG artwork, how can i direct it to the correct one?

Albums, artists and complications must match precisely for iTunes to get a hit.  If you have a compilation, chances are you have a 'various artists' for an album artists ... there is a bit of a science to it.  I've managed to get most of my 'picky ones' to match.  But I have some that just won't - for whatever reason.

  • How can I remove "Album Artwork" from my iPhone and iPad?

I've posted about this before in other threads, but the silence from Apple has been deafening,  Others in the community have agreed with the request but haven't been able to answer it.
I thought a thread of its own might get attention, since Apple won't talk to me otherwise.
I use music on my iPhone and iPad a lot, playing through speakers in my study or through the car system.  It worked well at first, until I updated the operating systems.
Now, where I used to have a list of albums, music, or playlists I have large blank areas where album artwork would go if there were any - which in most cases there isn't.  The iPad used to display 50 or more playlists in one screen, with some details of them.  Now, it shows 15 blank squares with a crotchet on them, and the name of the playlist.  That really isn't much use.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can there be a way to turn OFF album artwork on the iPhone and iPad?   It wastes an enormous amount of screen space for stuff I don't have and don't want.   It's a very unwelcome new "feature" (ie "bug").

Apple does not participate in these forums, so that would explain why you have not received a response.
I am not aware of a way to turn off Album art on the devices. If you want to let Apple know of your desire for this setting, go to www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link. That is where you communicate with them. They will receive the feedback, however they do not respond to it.
