Can't make an account.

When I try to make an account it usually has an error message that says it timed out and try again later. and some times a different one pops up saying we could not complete your iTunes store request an unknown error occurred(405). please try again later.

yes i continually have this problem, saying i have an error -405 or it has timed out or even my internet connection is not connected.
I would like to download some music sometime soon, this is quit an annoying problem and has really made my perspective of itunes a bad one.
I may as well go to morpheus or limewire and get osme music

Yes you can!
I had this same problem today. I have been battleing it for the past 5 hours, but it worked. You have to create a new account though.
What I did was go to iTunes and click Sign in, then made a new account.
But I didn't want to put in a Credit Card number, so what I did was
Open iTunes
Go to iTunes Store
Search a totaly free app. (I used Google Earth)
Click on the app from the list
Click the button under the icon that says "Free App"
Then it will ask you to sign in or make a new account, Select Make New Account
Follow All the steps on all the pages.
When you get to the page that you select your Credit Card, check "None"
Fill in the rest of the info and then click Complete
Verify your email
I hope this helped you. Strangely, you can only select "None" Under Credit Card if you do it this way. Must be some iTunes bug.

I just bought me a new macbook pro and i wanted to use ichat.
The problem is, I can't make an account to use it.
I just have hotmail.com accounts, and it doesn't work on ichat.
And i fail in making an account that is compatible for ichat.

In iChat 4 there was a Get an iChat Account Button that linked to the @mac.com registration page (when you selected @mac.com in the add account drop down)
In iChat 5 this had an option for the AIM Option to link via the same button to the AIM registration page.
Then AIM moved their Registration page.
For iChat 5.x.x. Apple have since disabled the Button (or pointed it to s different page saying the service has sort of ended)
The Button is not there in iChat 6
The @mac.com registration Page is Here
This allows you to link an external to Apple email ID to an @mac.com name (It is sort of Hard Linked so you can only use this Email once this way)
You cannot use an Email already Linked to an Apple ID.
The Password you create here must not exceed 16 characters (AIM Server limit)
The Name is both Apple ID and AIM valid Screen Name.
A name create here will work in any version of iChat.
iCloud.
You can create a iCloud ID and this will end @me.com
Again the password should be kept to 16 characters max.
You can link existing Apple IDs to this as the creation process but again this "Hard Links" the emails
iCloud does allow you to create IDs from scratch (i.e with an email not already used with an Apple ID)
These names will only work in iChat 6 or Messages beta or Above (there's bound to be an "Above" at some stage as they say Messages will be in Mountain Lion)

This can create any ID you want (it says it will be @aim.com but your don't enter this Suffix)
You can use a secondary email for Password recovery and confirmation as many times as you want.
The password is limited to 16 automatically
You an in fact list any existing email as the AIM name (I have seen both Google mail IDs and Hotmail IDs as AIM Screen Names and technically it is possible to use an Apple name/ ID and the Name at AIM - most times it will tell you it is already in use)

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

The problem is that there is a limit for creating new iCloud accounts from a device and if the previous owner already created three accounts with this iPhone you bought from him, then you would have to use another device in order to create a new one.

You can create a new account without credit card but you cannot change your exisiting account into NONE payment account.
Follow the instruction and create an account without credit card in iTunes on your computer.
Or on your iPod Touch, Purchase a free App then create a new appleID.

I am a newbie so I hope this question makes sense to someone out there. When I purchased an ipod for my daughter several years ago, I opened her account with my email address because she was so young at the time. I now have an ipad for myself and we are arguing over whose account it is. As an example, when I was playing an ongoing game on my ipad with my name attached to the account she complained that she couldn't play the same game with her own accumulating score so we edited the apple id password to her name and now it is associated with her Facebook account so my identity in the game is in lala land and I cannot access it. Is it possible to have two separate identities with the same email address used for your apple id? How do we go about setting up them so we can switch between them? You can use computer iTunes to help.
Connect your iPod Touch to Computer's iTunes
In iTunes, select your iPod Touch under DEVICES (left pane).
On right pane select Music at the top.
Now you can de-select the music/playlist or anything you don't want and click Sync button bottom right.
You can do the above for Apps, Books, etc.
You can of course, de-authorize the computer in iTunes menu Store.
Note: That will make everything using his AppleID inaccessible.

Use T.code OB20.double click on create customer,double clcik on company code data,double click on account management,make the reconciliation account as optional entry and save.
Make ur changes and if u want to restore the changes,follow the same procedure again.

I've just set up my Apple TV, however I rent and therefore share the main television, how can I make my account private so that my housemate can rent movies on his own account?

So, I've just bought and set up an Apple TV in my apartment, my iMac is set to home sharing and I've to log on using my iTunes account ID, however I don't want my housemate renting movies on my account - is there some way of setting up a log on, or can we both share?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can add multiple accounts at settings > iTunes Store > accounts.
However, there would have to be some trust between you to switch accounts before purchasing, unless you deleted your account each time you used it. You can only switch accounts in settings, there is no option to do this at the point of purchase.

You can always buy an iTunes gift card, and then redeem that card for your iTunes Store account.
